If I had picked the Blood Raven one, it would have been cliché!
Nothing wrong with the warcry itself, in fact it is a damn good one. Just... it is not very good luck.

So yeah. Henry and Raven survives with their own scars, most likely has an extra Social Link Level up between them, and hopefully Henry will get his ass in gear to reach square.

...is it a bad thing that a part of me really wants Raven to assume human form after this, revealing that Henry got her gender wrong all along?

EDIT:
You speak ill of the Lamenters, most noble bright of the 40k Chapters. Proceed to your local commissar for mandatory blaming heretic.
Oh, hell no. I am not dissing the Lamenters at all. It is just... using it gives me the feeling that misfortune is coming.

I don't know how to feel about this. I mean, from everyone else's perspective, Henry was a douche for having "kidnapped" Josette, but I still get an hateful feeling that Charles was being an ultimate shithead.

If the news of Josette spreads, Henry's reputation will take a huge plunge.

Also, since I'm not familiar with ZnT, can anyone tell me who had the idea of hiding away Josette and if Henry's description of Charles' character is actually true?

I'm not sure as I'm not that familiar with canon but I think it was his wife's idea to hide her away because she refused to go along with killing her.

Well, if Shade wants to continue the fluff: Raven gets hurt, pushing Henry to Square, roflstomps Charles.

If not: Raven is killed, pushing Henry to Square, countryside is littered with chunks of Charles.

If really not: Raven is killed, Henry is left at the cusp of death, Charles wins and is later assassinated.

Have you read that latest story update?

They are the Lamenters. Misfortune is what follows them.

Actually no, I hadn't even noticed it until I reloaded the page. I was distracted. By coffee. Legit excuse.

Chapter Ninety-One

She definitely wasn't pleased when I engulfed her in a hug that was a mixture of sweat, blood and grime and black feathers, which stained her dress irremediably, as she yelled at me even amidst my arms and Raven's wings.
Hugs for the Hug god, Fluff for the Fluffy throne!

I think the duel started with Charles simply wanted to maim Henry, but when he saw how Raven and Henry were honestly more concerned about each other then the fight itself, he realized that Henry was likely being honest about trying to do right by his daughter. Once he realized that Charles decided to simply let the two off with a mild beating.

Anyone that thought that Henry was going to anime "unlock next level", for shame. shade is more realistic than that.

My expectations were that he might die and the whole of Halkeginia thrown into war, turning all his plans to ashes.

Or that he would leave a teaser like that and then continue with him recovering under a doctor's care.

However in a world where humans inherit magical abilities from their parents that are fueled by mental determination, unlocking the next level like a Shonen protagonist is consistent with the rules of magic.

In other words it would be totally realistic for Henry to unlock the next level of magic with his determination, as that is how it is done!

Edit: Ninja'd but from a meta-perspective, while my explanation would work with an uncovered masquerade on earth!

That will motivate him to train a bit more now.
Kind of sad all that tension kinda went nowhere. I was expecting some serious injuries, Raven's death or something like that.
