So, how long until Mordred gains some technology?

She came from Worm and has a colorful history.

I am curious when she will use her Riding skill.

You know she wants to flex the skills on a Motorcycle proxy?
She's a natural warrior king, not a mechanic.

I don't think she could make any cars, bikes, or engines, even if she wanted to.

As for Riding, well, she's riding a bloody unicorn. What, is a unicorn not awesome and magical enough for you? Wait until Mordred grabs a dragon.

So she can or cannot use her Riding shill to take over a Train or a Steam-powered ship?

Speaking of Unicorn, does it still let Mordred ride? She is no longer 'Pure'?

Fact or Fiction?

Basically what Taovkool said. Edit: To clarify, I was not confirming that Mordred gets a dragon mount, I don't have anything planned for that but then again I never planned on Bob the unicorn either.

I mean she can do basically anything a servant with A rank riding can do so probably? Not really something I focused on since She can run a lot faster than a train or steamboat, even on water.

Bob was a bit miffed but mostly overprotective as was mentioned in chapter 6, arc 2. Unicorns in warhammer fantasy like females for unknown reasons and eat magic, meaning they really enjoy being around female mages because they are pleasant food sources for them. From all this talk about Bretonnia, people might remember that a fair number of Grail Damsels are notorious for their promiscuity aka having an active sex life. But, some of them are also known to ride unicorns and I would bet you that at least one of them is not a virgin, so tada, in warhammer fantasy, not being a virgin does NOT disqualify you from being friends with spiky horses. Sorry if I went a little overboard with my explanation but you did ask.

Since Mordred has a Riding skill, will she get a Dragon at some point? A dragons nest without an actual physical dragon….

What is this slander?! :p

More seriously her name is Pen-Dragon and her raw physical and magical might is easily comparable to actual dragons (even if she still curbstomps them) and her helmet has those draconic horns too. She also named a bunch of her stuff after dragons and that connected with her name and armor founded nicknames like the Princess Dragon and Dawrdrakk. And part of Mordred's mythology that her cult has, involves being a child of a dragon so... Yeah.

Oh I got that. But there's just something about an actual dragon…

That's why I said a physical dragon.

Welp one thing for sure is that mordred not going to be a dead beat parent like her own but must require alot of aid to take care of it due to the perks of being a fearless leader
I can picture it her child being either a nervous rekt or overconfident and a attention seeker like she was when mordred found out Arthur was her/his dad and wanted acknowledgements

First chapter has Mordred running continent to continent across the ocean everyday for training. Pretty sure she can get wherever she wants in a week

Ha! Then she can go get her spices herself! Run to Cathay or Araby and pick up some pepper, cumin, and cinnamon.

Also, Ekrund in the Dragonback mountains is much closer, and is fabled to be one of the richest mines around. It would make much more sense to start there, rather than all the way to the Pinnacle.

With that explanation in hand, he had renewed his vigor in removing the damnable grobi from the forest, they had been slowed down by winter but now spring was coming and soon. Soon they would finish their extermination of the grobi and move on to the next task the Dawrdrakk had for them.
Based on our luck, a dragon might give us a visit on why she smells like there kin...and i would just love to see Mordred losing her cool with the potential to strain relations with an ally nation and then blaming it on "sorry, im pregnant." And what is going to be the next task? I cant think of any, maybe a discovery of a Troll Matriach hag? Maybe a corrupted Tree Kin and Elders spilling out from the forest of gloom...or are we going to create diplomatic relations with the tree elder?

And Karak Eight Peaks is even closer and was historically the 3rd greatest hold. The talk about the Silver Pinnacle was more because it was the one place Mordred can go to punch her lamian problems away, since Mordred's intrigue stat is her dump stat.

Find out in the next chapter :p

Broh! If you've forgotten they exist, that just proves how good they are. They definitely have a bunch of plants in Mordred's territory!

Funny thing is, a lot of her prep for anti Chaos cults is also somewhat effective on vampire infiltrators.

It would be interesting if Mordred successfully cleared out the Forest of Gloom from Goblins and Beastman. I suppose it could be used as a way to make contact with the Wood Elves.

What resources does Mordred have access to?

Clay is a given, wood, stone..

Trade with the Dwarves is a fact since they helped retake the Hold. So Iron & Steel?

Spices are a thing, so they become Foodies?

A Trade Empire?

Well, I know for a fact that there is an iron mine that lasted until 1810 IC in canon in Masserschloss. Akendorf and a few of their neighbors do a fair amount of stuff with wood, cattle, sheep, agriculture, and one noted for their vineyards. There is a piece of land in the far west side of the borderland that has some quality marble. There is some silver and copper that could be mined as well. This is just me grabbing what princedoms were known for in canon and I'm sure I could come up with something else if I need something considering how little is covered in canon. The borderlands might be known for their mediocre at best level of natural resources but that doesn't mean they don't have any of it natively.

I don't suppose you could send me a link or something to what the forest of gloom is by chance would you? I only know its name and that's because it's on the map I typically use for all geological needs. Edit: that, and there was/is/will be a bunch of greenskins running around in it.

This is me doubting you.

How? Chaos cults have magical backing. Lahmian spies use normal bribery and the occasional bout of mind control.

Okay? This is me doubting whether or not you actually read what I wrote.

I did this whole thing with the Aegis of Mordred for multiple chapters and even did an interlude on the aftereffects of the now widespread use of the aegis with a father and son pair of blacksmiths. There was also a bit done on countering mundane corruption in the beginning of arc 2.

nice pov on the slayer dwarf's and there target
interesting sending them to clean out vampire's and yea starved soldiers are not worthy death for slayer dwarfs :D

Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a good description online, so I will say what I know. If I'm wrong please correct me.

From what I know of the Forest of Gloom is that it has one of the largest concentration of Forest Goblins there is, and that they pose as a frequent problem for Barak Varr and any vessel that travels up and down the Skull River. There is also a large population of Giant Spiders that the Goblins are capable of taming and using as battle-mounts, which also adds to the problem. On top of all that, the Old Dwarf Road goes straight through the forest which poses trouble to anyone trying to go to Karaz-a-Karak from Barak Varr, or vise versa.

Are you sure that shouldn't be "The mediocre at best level of natural resources available to low-tech brigandsfarmers trying to eke out a living without getting eaten by a grue"?

I'm pretty certain that physical safety, protection against mutation, significantly lower corruption levels, actual rule of law, slowly but surely increasing education and technology, actual research and the ability and willingness to make the neccessary infrastructure would make available a LOT more then just the current few low-hanging fruits. Hey, just figuring out what spices could be grown where and wiping out the goblins and undead in those areas so it can actually be farmed in large amounts would probably significantly change things. Irrigation ditches. Draining wetlands. Decent roads. Watermills. Pottery works to actually use that clay for something useful. Glass blowers to use that sand for something. Papermills. Making charcoal from woods too crocked to use as timber. Proper granaries. Clean water and sanitation in towns. Etc etc.

Sure, it's a low-resource location now. That doesn't mean it will stay that way if managed properly.

And I doubt with all the warring and destruction that there was a concentrated prospecting effort. We might find a whole bunch of new resources.

You should get Mordred to develop a survey/prospecting spell. Then roll some dice to see what she can find.

I could but I got an idea from that so I'm going to do that. (I bet you that there is plenty of minor spells that a enterprising mage could cobble together to go searching for valuable metals and other resources.)

Alright, thanks. To answer your earlier question, it's not realistic to try to keep all beastmen out of the forests when they can use the beast paths to practically teleport between forests. The forest goblins are not going to be a thing for a while since dwarfs and especially slayers, don't do shoddy work on principle and it would be a pretty shoddy thing to do to leave a way for greenskins to grow back.

In the overview of Barak Varr on the wiki, closer to the bottom, there is a comment about how the dwarfs put up with the presence of men in their ancestral realm purely because there is very little mineral wealth to be mined there.

That moment when you are writing a SI!Mordred story and someone called King Arthur with an Artoria profile pic likes your story.

So, Mordred Capital s being built up.

Will they ask permission to build up areas outside the Dwarves Holds on top?

A chance to build the Dwarf area to a MegaCity?
