Yes, there is.
"Sentient Sea Life Rights" are now a thing, but only a couple of countries - mainly the ones with strong resurrestion/Buddist belief - recognize them. For the rest of the world, they are a Minority of a Minority. Which means mostly bad things for these Sea-Sentient beings. Killing them is not a crime for most of the world, and unfortunatly they will be treated like thePoC in the 1940/1950's America.
So, unless someone LITTERALY busts some heads - and makes their rights as valid as everyone else's - , they will still be treated like seventh-class citizens, whenever they are outside of their kingdom/nation.

Is the Persona series around? If it is we need to do research in the collective unconscious. It'd give us the means of literally mind controlling the entire planet at once. Sadly if it was canon it'd also mean the Phantom Thieves of Hearts are around. I'd rather not have a team of Japanese teenagers enter our mind/Palace and beat a sense of normal morality into our Shadow. Regardless we should develop tech just to shield our self from mind control anyway.

Game!Giovanni has disbanded Team Rocket, but Manga!Giovanni re-made it. Anime!Giovanni prefers Manga! , but still respect Game! actions. Despite the way Game! decided to live his life, Anime! and Manga! higly respect him, since he is the only one with an acyual child. Also, Game! is trying to be a semi-decent parent to Game!Silver - failing most times, mind you- , he is doing more than both of them ever tried to do.
Tldr: Anime!Giovanni and Manga!Giovanni are jelous that their Game counterpart is still a better parent than them, but they consoled themself by making their Team even stronger.

Game and Manga TRio are still working for their boss, still oblivious to their nature.
The Anime TRio, however, have matured the best out of wveryone. They still work for the Team, but they are on the good side of Ash and Co. They also don't want to catch Pikachu anymore, have a successfull ice-cream parlor, cultivated their hobbies to their greatest extent, met with their pokemons again...
Essentially, the Anime Trio have the best life. They are at peace with themself, they are getting along with the Ketchum family. Heck, Jessie and James are Married by the time the "Alola League" is enstablished. Sure, they stillgo against Ash, but it is more in a friendly-rivalry kind of way.

Only a couple thousand people in Japan know that the Persona Series has appeared, and no one is stupid enough to try and snitch on them.
Also, the Characters still haven't realized the gravity of the situation.
