To Scandinavia, Land of the Norse - Part 4 all the rest
Aesir: The Norse gods have returned...and returned, and returned. The mythological ones are susprised by their return after Ragnarok, in a world that doesn't worship them, while dealing with the ones from Marvel Comics who seem oddly fixated on America. In addition the Norse gods have found they have a surprise number of reincarnated versions of themselves, some having hidden in New Zealand (Almighty Johnsons), while others are
wielding the power of the Norse Gods to fight pollution and Jotuns. It also appears their sworn enemies - the Giants of Jøtunhëim - are sending their spawn to hunt down these demigods (Scion TTRPG). The Aesir have yet to figure out their position in this new world, but they have been warned one fact-The one known as Kratos (God of War PS4) might kill them all.
Stormcloaks (Nords, Elder Scrolls): In the middle of their war with the Imperials, a group of Nords discovered a portal leading to Earth. Upon investigating the area, they along with their Jarl, set up a forward base around the portal before moving to explore this new world. The Stormcloaks soon began offering their services as warriors for hire. They've Served as monster hunters in Stockholm, advisors on fighting vampires, magical instructors for Arendelle on frost magic,
Translators, as well as backup troll exterminators, they haven't been short for work. They've been careful to keep temporary contracts and maintaining positive relations with the 'Residents', but they're also learning everything they can about modern warfare. It won't be long before they start bringing in AKs, tanks and other weapons to their world to defeat the Imperial Legion once and for all.
Vikings: When the various sea raiders appeared across the world, one bright side was that at least they weren't coordinated, just as likely to turn on each other as Resident vessels or communities. Unfortunately that hope seems to be diminishing quickly, as one man is gathering together those under his banner who identify as Vikings.
Led by Ragnar Lodbrok (primarily the legendary figure, combined with his various fictional versions), the former king of Sweden and Denmark is looking to do what he is most famous for - raiding for incredible treasures. But to do so, he's gathered as many Vikings and Viking aligned characters as he can.
To support his physical conquest he's recruited powerhouses like
Eivor Varinsdottir (Assassins Creed: Valhalla),
Hägar the Horrible and the dinosaur riding Norsemen Tribe ( Paraworld). To combat supernatural threats he turns to ice manipulating
Snowmads (Donkey Kong), and the spirit binding shamans of the Avvar (Dragon Age). He also makes sure to keep to worshipping the Norse gods, and as one of the few keepers of the original ways, he has more than once been blessed by an Aesir's grace when his Vikings needed it most.
Ragnar knows the importance of understanding the modern day, hence why he's set
The Berzerker (WWF) as his Skald, not just to be a source of information but also to promote his victories ( the latter of which he is extremely good at). He's also found The Norheim Vikings (
Norsemen) do an excellent job of relating to the modern Scandanavian people, and uses them for diplomatic ventures.
But Ragnar's gaze is not limited to terrestrial shores, his gaze has wandered skyward, to raid the stars themselves! Thus he's made special effort to recruit vikings who are either from Space or have spent significant time there, gaining as much knowledge as he can from them. Vikings like
Thorgal (Comic book), Kainan
(Outlander, 2008 film), Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout (
The Lost Vikings, Video Game). Who knows what Ragnar will be capable if he gains a spaceship, but the universe may not be ready for it.
OOC: And that's all of Scandanavia. Hopefully these groups are helpful, even if I couldn't come up with more to do with the Aesir, mythological gods are just too powerful for me to think what can stop them from doing whatever they want or what their goals might be.
