I just came back from watching it.
Well you've just convinced me to exit my dungeon and brave the outside once more.I just came back from watching it.
It...It was like meeting your best childhood friend again after decades and realizing two things: how much you missed them and that they're still your best friend.
At least it sounds like it'll be better than JJTrek. Watching that was like seeing your friend after decades and finding out that they spent the time wallowing in drugs and decay.I just came back from watching it.

Pretty much. It doesn't feel like Star Trek. That may be because JJ admittedly doesn't like Star Trek. He likes his Star Trek, and nothing else. Well, that and Star Wars.It was a fun ride, I'll say that much. But it didn't have that… touch, I suppose you could call it. None of the post-scarcity, or the mostly peaceful utopia the Federation had become in the main timeline, or encountering new species and trying to solve their problems with a dash of social commentary, or anything of that sort. It was a roller-coaster ride. Something to sate people.
It was Star Trek in name, setting, and characters, but not much else.
Which I hear people are liking. And is also a fun ride, but the Star Wars universe is more for adventure than for social commentary anyway, and that's one of the (many) things that dragged the prequels down, so it's excusable.Pretty much. I can have Amura eat the Death Star if you want.Which I hear people are liking. And is also a fun ride, but the Star Wars universe is more for adventure than for social commentary anyway, and that's one of the (many) things that dragged the prequels down, so that's excusable.
Make it both and I'm in.
