...it just hit me that Kyubey is, apparently, around. Could he be part of why Sayaka is having such a hard time coming to grips with the majesty of the obviously magical best kitteh?

The other girls didn't go into denial. I'm pretty sure Sayaka is just talented in the field of denying what her own eyes tell her.

Maybe she'll have more trouble denying the painful scratch marks.

But what if Madoka continues looking until she goes to wash the blood off? The stipulation that it must be while no one is looking would backfire.
