and one more questions sorry for all of them. but why the "rock-obsessed democracy of Eretria" were did that come from.
People addressing the ekklesia started standing on rocks in order to be seen and heard, then people started decorating their standing rock, then it became the equivalent of "political platform", and you're not taken seriously unless you have a bling rock and supporters to carry it.

Perhaps if we enslave the survivors we can blame it on the Krotones or the Latins

Alas, my one weakness: painstaking cartography.

I blame the Latins.

We should keep what the Peuketii have captured, I think. Still, the Peuketii are responsible for our present circumstances. They deserve praise for the sheep and captives, but they're also complicit in any bloodshed that arises over the matter.

The head of a hydra is a laudable trophy, but if the hydra follows you home, don't complain that it has too many heads.

The last conflic just end with a long siege and i like everybody here want to go home, to my family, to our city.

Most of us here are tired of war and want to find peace, a least for a time and that why i understand that some would like a peaceful solution, but i fear there is none

Our allies have alredy slaugther a group of those Lucani, toke their good and family.
Now imagine one moment that the Lucani had kill a single man of Eretria, one of us,
imagine hearing they just ravage his farm and kill him.
Then immediately after this attaque they ofter to return some of the stolen good to seek a peaceful solution.

What would be our answer ?

War would be in our response

War will be their

Nice to see this back and that I'm around to participate this time :)

As for the question at hand, I'd say we keep the sheeps. Had the Peuketii asked permission beforehand it would have been better to prevent it from happening but as things stand any conscessions to the Lucani will only slightly molify them (most likely) and anger the Peuketii. What is done is done.

Agreed, so long as we first sacrifice some to the Gods, to ask for their blessing.

Any attack the Lucani throw at us will have to go through the Dauni or the Peuketii. If they come to demand reparation, we should give it serious consideration, but until then, it is better to let sleeping dogs lie.

I say we feast!

306 OL: Don't be Sheepish, Cast a Vote!
306 OL: VOTING

The City of Eretria's Peuketii subjects have captured a massive herd of sheep from the Lucani, shepherds from the interior of Italia. Many in the city fear the Lucani for the battle prowess and want to return the sheep while punishing the Peuketii, but others would prefer they keep the sheep, regardless of the consequences. In the former case the captive women and children would be returned, while in the latter they would be sold into slavery, a salve for the surrender of Azetion without any loot for the citizens.

[] Who are we to reprimand the Peuketii for doing as we asked and finding us food? Woe to the Lucani for ranging out of their territory for grazing, they have paid the price. Let us feast now and then return home with peace of mind and full stomach.
[] We cannot allow ourselves to be motivated only by hunger and misplaced piety: Think of the consequences! Yes, it is true that the Lucani caught the Peuketii in an ambush, but we know neither their tactics nor their ambitions. It would better to return the sheep, even if we must march home hungry and unhappy, than to feast now and fight later for the sake of a few hundred head of sheep.

Voting is now open.

I am also considering ending the 24-hour prohibition and redoing some of how I present the votes. My thoughts are: The 24 hour wait is useful to discussion, but it's also restrictive and annoying, and can be a barrier for new people. It's time-consuming for me and ends up stretching out individual turns because I could make things go faster without it. What I'm thinking is replacing the 24 hour wait with a more reasonable longer voting period than we had in the last quest, when I was making an update a day. If people have any strong objections to changing the way this works and think the 24-hour wait is needed then voice them now.

Moratorium until 3 people vote to end the moratorium.

Or.. maybe not. idk.

If we want to sacrifice a few sheep to the Gods, can we simply tack that on to the main vote or was a User Motion required for that to be an option?
