Each of the competitors had a different strategy in this event some searched for secret routes, some raced through trying to see if the course would dynamically change over time, some tried the tortoise approach going slow to take in the scenery clearly, and others didn't even try just enjoying racing about occasionally bumping into others a simple jokes and to give the crowd something to find interest in. As the game dragged on some players began to give up their search and join the players enjoying driving and racing about the track using that time to watch the other players for suspicious activity. However it would be one of those that traveled slowly throughout the course checking for oddities who would win in the end.
Rikimaru had slowly made their way through the course taking in the scenery at a pace even the other people taking their time may have found frustrating always being overtaken by someone every few minutes. But they were determined for victory and passing through the verdant forest, the abandoned library, and the observatory twice each they determined those areas despite their expansive nature were but red herrings things to get lost in. On their forth passing of the starting line they noticed something, one of the red stop lights was still lit despite being unnecessary for the purposes of the race and they drove up towards the light other players still passing by them they stopped and began to climb the post seeing a miniature star within the light.
"And with that Rikimaru has discovered the Solarflare star and thus the race has concluded," thunderous applause fills the stadium to an almost deafening degree for you miniaturized competitors,
"Congrats are to be had, all players please make your way the starting line."
A few minutes later all of the players had gathered back together eyes shifting towards individuals with suspicion, but even knowing they had lost at least the game was over, and rest was fast approaching.
"Congratulations Rikimaru you're tenacity and keen eye have located you the victory this day and perhaps will continue to assist you as the days go by. But there are two more matters to be discussed before you all head to your residences for rest and recuperation. @QTesseract and @MedievalParadox your other players have watched you intently throughout this event and have seen suspicious actions please follow me to the stage and make your peace with the audience for your cowardice and crimes against this fair sport!"
One after the other two legends of the kingdom take to the stands to plead that they are falsely accused Toad an aid to heroes and the princess alike, and even Mario himself. He the hero of this kingdom, he who these games are inspired from the crowd is shocked, appalled, and conflicted. They knew Luigi had done wrong, but Mario and Toad? But of course the Announcer was ready to capitalize on these doubts.
"How could this be the case were all our heroes false and selfish? Has everything been a ruse? A ruse that has tricked us into worshiping those that betray the beacons of high moral charater they portray themselves as? Do they inspire us to be what they appear as so we are malleable in their gloved hands!? They have brought shame to this Kingdom and these games!" And with that the crowd while more conflicted than with Luigi slowly began to turn against the pair with immense booing as they leave the arena never to return… with reputations built over years torn apart in an instant.
