Looking Glass (MLP)

Huh? Oh, you mean the transitionary state between the two curses on all batponies that the two Twi's had to let be while they discovered first how to undo the fruit bat curse, then how to undo the blood bat curse, before finally learning how to undo both in the same decursing. Nah... well... I mean, if the Twi's were just that stupid powerful, it might be necessary for other unicorns to do the decursing in stages. But I'm... mostly, certain that the Twi's said that particularly strong unicorns could do the decursing combo spell. So... they shouldn't need the appetite suppression potions?

Hmm, wonder if Midnight will return with Page. I honestly can't see her not doing so, she loves Tempest and honestly her Equestria doesn't really need her.

Let's face it, most of the EoH encounters were tests set up by Celestia, Tests that she and her sister could have handled themselves.

They don't NEED the Elements, as let's be honest Celestia alone commands a Nuclear Furnace to a degree that she could just lobotomize Tirek or remove his horns with just a thought.

She has the magical knowledge to mentally Revert Cozy Glow to the actual mentality of a Foal.

She has the power to forcefully Change Chrysalis into a Reformed Changeling with little issue.

So Midnight going back to Pages Equestria won't really be an issue.

Sorry, didn't mean for this to be this long!

She didn't.
Even if we can argue she could with logic?
She didn't. Never using something can be considered the same as never having it.
She went with kneecapping herself and fellow unicorns to keep ponies safe.
She wields the power of the sun yet couldn't off Chrysalis the one time they actually fought. Or burn the blimps out of the sky.
Set ups or not MLP is filled with Celestia being useless at critical times.
I haven't gotten to the cozy glow part but I am sus'd about Celestia+magical brain surgery.
I've only seen clips of the Changelings getting color and filling in the holes, but those clips clearly show that it is a personal choice to share what love you they have rather than horde it.
Which seems conceptually important given the setting.
Dude didn't change when he was forced to share his love.only after HE chose to do so.

Midnight is home... I think. At least, she thinks she has responsibilities here and if Tempest is reunited with her she has all she needs.
Idea: it all leads to opening some kind of portal between 2 realities, a la the Equestria Girls one.

Every point where she could have stopped a villain, she choose to send untrained Civilians and what should be a Weapon of last resort.

I highly doubt she was incompetent (read: arrogant) enough not to affix Tracking magic to Tartarus Prisoners like Tirek.

I highly doubt she was Blind enough to not recognize a Pony she practically Raised was acting highly out of character, much less ignoring another Pony she considered a daughter.

I highly doubt she didn't have reports of such a large Airfleet moving through her territory well before they made it to the capital from her militaries Boarder posts and patrols.

She relies far to much on the EoH, so much so that her own military has become a joke and nothing better than fluff. I can only see Equestria benefiting from Twilight leaving.

The only "Evil" (and I use that term loosely here) being that she would loose to is Discord, though that's not so much an issue now.

I thought of this, it would depend on if Starswirl left any of his notes/instructions and if the Materials to make the portal frame still exist.

On top of that it seems the opposite end of the Portal is random on where it is anchored.

:oops2:
I highly doubt she was incompetent (read: arrogant) enough not to (various assumptions that stretch the suspension of disbelief of what Celestia would have to do to look arrogant and incompetent while secretly being quite careful and competent and if true paints Celestia as a messed up individual who thinks ramifications are for other people and would be largely right given what happens in canon. Oh Blank Page I hope this guy is being sarcastic cuz I don't even know where to begin describing the screwed up horror of his headcanon Princess Celestia if he's being sincerely serious!)
:wat2::wat2::wat2:😣😫 I don't want to live in your head canon version of Equestria.

Or a mirror/portal to work backwards from.
Plus it's not just 1 Twilight. It's 2. Both trying to reach out to each others worlds. Neither one shouldn't just ask what they have to do. But what the other will do to make this succeed.
Plus the full resources of 2 Equestrias. 1 of which that already did the leg work.

Go watch the series from start to finish, the trends are there and it's why everyone compares Celestia to Dumbledore when it comes to manipulation.

Also do you REALLY want two Twilights working on the same project? That would be scary beyond words.

Eh... from what I've been able to gleam from the series. Celestia is that arrogant. Precisely because of the Elements of Harmony. It... frankly they were her response to everything. When she was using them. It's, predominantly, why she kept trying to keep Twilight and her friends from having the gems on hand at all times.

Celestia is what Dumbledore would have been, if Dumbledore actually fit Rowlings' oft insistent repeating of how she viewed Dumbledore to be. A good person, with good intentions, that ostensibly was rather intelligent; but didn't have a lick of common sense.

{post point separation}

Hiver... I... just, now, realized... *ahem* thanks. For working at not using a cliff hanger this update. It uh, took me this long to recognize it because I've been cringing in shame most of the day with the realization that you took my criticism upon chapter lengths to heart. I do, also, thank you for the longer chapters... I'm just embarrassed that it was because I was complaining about it under the assumption I had previously made.

This was written like four months ago :p

But your request have been heard, more cliffhangers for everyone!

??? Because they haven't been doing precisely that in this story already? Because you really don't believe that Twilight isn't going to do everything to bring her stallion home? That Luna, Sunset, and others wouldn't do everything possible including getting Twilight's help?
Yes absolutely.

But Midnight took Page's reading after they relocated so she can use that for any hypothetical portals to Connect to the right world.

well, what she can remember of it anyways, not like she was able to bring her library back (another reason she'll want to establish a portal to Nocturnus, she's has books there that don't exist in her home timeline that must be recovered! :p )

Never said that, it's just would you want them to have a repeat of the Eldritch Abomination Event?

And now you've lost me in totality.

The last time the two Twilights tried to open a interdimensional Doorway, they attracted an Eldritch Abominations attention!

Edit: it also gave a taste of Celestias power and proved that she could handle most of the issues that she foists onto twilight and her friends.

What do you call a combination of breakfast and dinner? Binner? Breakner?

Either way, that was what we were having in one of the small dining rooms. Midnight had been trying to force herself awake during the day, but we were both still on something approaching Nocturnis time.

It was just before sunset and I was having breakfast. Celestia had left earlier during the day I heard so it was only me, Midnight and Talon.

Midnight was poking at her roasted vegetables, a fork held in her magic. She looked more asleep than awake to be honest.

Suddenly Talon pushed his plate of gems and vegetables away, "This sucks."

Midnight blinked and then looked at him, "What do you mean?" she asked, "Something wrong with your food?"

"I want to go home."

"We are home."

Talon shook his head, "This was home. I want to go home to Nocturnis."

Midnight sighed, "Spike, it's not tha-"

"Why? I know we missed everypony here, but I miss everypony back at home too!"

"Spike, I kno-"

"Stop calling me that!" he exclaimed and jumped down from his chair before storming out, slamming the door behind him.

Midnight sighed, "...Sorry, it's difficult for him," she said quietly and pushed her own plate to the side, rubbing her eyes with her hooves for a second.

I nodded, "I understand. He's been through it twice, same as you."

She shrugged her wings, "But it's harder for him this time," and then she smiled faintly, "He's been spending some time with this unicorn filly the last couple of months."

I grinned, "Oh really? Who?"

"Her name is Quiver Stream, she's a new arrival. A year older than him and they seem to have really hit it off."

Quiver Stream, Quiver Stream...

Nocturnis was still small enough that I could meet all the new arrivals. Name did ring a bell...

"Unicorn, pale blue coat, pale purple mane?" I asked after a second of thought, "...Crossbow cutiemark."

"That's the one," Midnight said with a smile before she sighed, "I don't blame him for missing her."

"He's not the only one though," I told her gently.

Midnight rubbed her eyes again before she nodded, her ears drooping, "I...I miss Tempest. A lot."

"Maybe after I'm back, she can come here?" I suggested, "Because surely there has to be a way."

She shook her head and took a deep breath, "She wouldn't. I wouldn't even ask her, she takes her duty too seriously."

Because she felt she owed me something.

"You know what, Talon's right," Midnight continued and got down from her seat, "This does suck."

The door closed behind her and I looked at my breakfast of fruit slices.

I no longer felt hungry either. Because there was no solution here. I could go home, I knew I could because Midnight was working on it with the pony that managed to get her home. Starlight Glimmer.

But Midnight and Talon...

They left ponies behind in Nocturnis. Not only marefriend and maybe marefriend, but friends.

A home.

They have a home here too. Family. Friends. But that dosn't meant they didn't also leave one behind.

For Midnight and Talon...

...There was no happy ending to this story. But at least tomorrow Midnight's parents will arrive, they were away from Canterlot when we arrived apparently. And in a few days, Shining Armor and Cadence will be here.

Hopefully that'll make them feel a little better.

Or maybe not.

Talon really was right, this does suck.

Pushing my own plate away, I moved towards the door. I'm going for a flight.

###############

The moon shone high above as I swept across the silent streets of Ponyville. I banked across above the sugarcube corner and above the remains of what used to be the library.

A beat of my wings and I shifted course, coming in for landing on the railing of the clock tower of the school house at the edge of town.

It felt good stretching my wings and it was a warm summer night.

I looked around, glancing down before I jumped up, beat my wings once before wrapping my tail around a roof rafter. Then I folded my wings and relaxed, swaying slightly in the breeze as I looked out over the town.

I suppose I could go out beneath an illusion during the day if I wanted to, but... I didn't want to. I didn't want to hide.

Didn't want to go out during the day either.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath before pushing all thoughts about my bats from my mind.

I did my best to ignore the fact that on this world, Flower Rain was freezing in a tiny Manehattan flat, barely making a living minding a small book store.

Other ponies I knew had it even worse.

"Hey!"

I'm not too proud to admit that I squeaked like a filly and if it wasn't for my tail's automatic grip, I would have fallen. As is, I swayed wildly before I forced myself to stop and look to the side, finding Pinkie Pie hanging from her tail just next to me.

"...H-hey," I answered, trying my best to get my thundering heart under control, "Didn't see you."

Pinkie grinned sheepishly, "Sorry," and then she reached behind her back and pulled out a small cake, holding it out upside down for me, "Welcome to Ponyville."

I blinked at her, "...Thank you..." I said as I took it. It was cherry and decorated with slices of mango.

"Figured you wouldn't like a big party," Pinkie continued with a small shrug, "Some ponies don't. But if you like, we can head to the sugarcube corner and meet some ponies."

I looked between her and the cake for several moments. How did she even figure out my favorite fruits...

"I'm not sure that's a good idea," I admitted after a moment, "Most ponies are afraid of bat ponies. I'm very much not in the mood for that tonight, sorry."

"That's fine," Pinkie said and smiled, "But I promise nopony will be afraid."

I never did give you enough credit, did I Pinkie?

I glanced at the cake again. It was way too much for any one pony... that wasn't named Celestia.

"Okay," I admitted, "If you're sure."

Pinkie smiled brightly, "Come on then!" and then let go, dropping down inside the tower, "Weeeee!"

...I'm just going to assume she's alright.

Swinging slightly, I spread my wings before letting go, swooping down towards the ground as I carefully balanced the cake.

Ever try landing while carrying a cake?

Not easy. Luckily I stopped being stupid and remembered I had a horn. So I took it in my magic instead and could land on all four hooves, just in time for Pinkie to bounce out of a nearby bush, moving to trot along next to me.

"So... who's there?" I asked her.

Pinkie smiled, "Not many, just some ponies I know. Don't worry, leave it aaaaallll to Pinkie!"

Fair enough.

Pinke led the way and then pushed the door open and let me inside, "Hello everypony! Let me introduce Blank Page! Say Hi to everypony!"

I blinked against the light.

There were more ponies than I expected. Fluttershy were there, so was Rainbow Dash, Applejack, a red pony I think was her brother, her younger sister I could never remember the name of. Those were the ones I knew the names off, but there was another half dozen ponies there as well.

I raised one hoof, "Hello..."

"Welcome to Ponyville," an earth pony said and smiled as she approached. She was very pale yellow with a blue and pink mane, "I'm Bon Bon," she said and then motioned to the pony walking up next to her, a minty green unicorn, "This is Lyra."

"Blank Page and thank you," I said and smiled at them, trying to keep the amount of fang down. I think I actually saw Lyra around before somewhere. Couldn't quite place where though.

Pinkie was smiling to the side.

Yeah... I'm still trying to figure out how the heck that translated over to human Pinkie too.

Closest thing I got is a three way pile up that borrows one train of thought from Sawtooth Waves Ponydom theory channel.

So... Sawtooth's theory is that when canon Pinkie used the bell to take hold of Discord's power some of it traveled backwards to manifest in what we know and fear as Pinkimenia Dianne Pie.

My theory is that Pinkie is dead, and what we know as Pinkie is a Chaos Spirit, kept from dissoluting by the Harmonious Element of Laughter.

These two combined then covers something that most don't readily acknowledged about Equstria Girls... When the Human Mane Six exhibit powers, they aren't the Equine Mane Six's powers.

Which is my second theory. When a Pony gets it cutie mark, depending on the point that they get it in their childhood, determines just how much magic is available to the Pony and just how broad the talent is. I.E. The younger they get it, the broader the talent, but the weaker the amount of magic available to apply, due to being to young. Whereas the older they are, the more narrower the talent, but after a peak point, also the less magic available to apply, but due to the narrower niche the more they can do with less magic needed. So, also I.E. there's actually a reason for the snobbish behavior of young pony's receiving their cutie marks at an appropriate age.

There's a separate theory as to why the Cutie Mark Crusaders got such a strong unified Cutie Mark as late for them as they did... and ironically it's only partly because of their friendship.

But why the preface on Cutie Marks... well, the rest has to go somewhere, right? And thus... we have a, possible, explanation for Human Pinkie. They both share Discord's Chaos, and are at full strength magically, but Equine Pinkie was a late appearance, so... Human Pinkie got pretty much all the rest, but because of the Chaos they actually share a goodly chunk of each other's skills. (And is likely also an explanation for Pinkie's fourth wall breaking, while Discord... kinda doesn't (?))

Uh... if any of that rant made sense...

"Based on the fact that 'breakfast-lunch' is 'brunch', it looks like it goes chronologically. So 'lunch-dinner' would be 'linner' and 'dinner-breakfast' would be 'deakfast'. Trust me, I'm an expert wordplay-ologist." *sage nod*
No, it would be brinner first couple of letters from breakfast and drop the first letter from the second word if letters match only use one of the matching letters.

"That doesn't match the chronological timeframe, though. Something midway between breakfast and dinner in that order is just lunch, y'know? Don't need a new term for that. Whereas something between dinner and breakfast in that order is more around the timeframe of a midnight snack, but obviously more substantial since it's a full-fledged meal rather than just a snack. That's something that actually doesn't have a specific word already to describe it. Hence, 'deakfast', assuming you're following the pattern of brunch and replacing the first phoneme of the second meal with the first phoneme of the first meal. I mean, you could follow the also-existing pattern of doing it with the first two letters as you said, but then you end up with 'lu-inner' and 'di-eakfast', neither of which roll off the tongue and which I'd argue are actually less inherently funny to say than 'linner' and 'deakfast'."
