So, Asgard's defenses have, once again, been breached. And, once again, another assasination attempt. And, once again, artifacts critical to Asgard's defense have been taken.

And, once again, we do nothing about it other than doing a holding pattern and not even defending ourselves in a shadow war we are horrible at.

Oh, and Thor screws us over again.

So, I guess this is the fall of Asgard by a thousand ignored cuts?

Edit: Make that a thousand ignored stabs to the vitals.

I'd say that gauntletts are what we really want since they synergize extremely well with Loki's main fighting style, especially if we go with binding/sealing. I mean Loki is literally the best hand to hand combatant in Asgard so makes sense we would go with that.
Have you seen Minato Namikaze with Hiraishin's ability? His H2H abilities combined with Hiraishin is what made him a 'run-on-sight' danger.
Teleporting behind an enemy before they even notice and slicing them up? That's a one-shot weapon we would be holding.

And Gauntlets are good with H2H, and the thing is we can enchant them ourselves. But teleporting daggers.... that is high DC that Loki won't be able
to do for a while.

The problem is if there is an enemy that nerve strikes don't work on, like robots, so it'd be good to have an actual weapon to use. You can't engage every type of enemy in hand to hand, daggers would be useful.
And this too.

@KnowledgeKing And can we use the serum on Frigga and Odin, in the next turn? And also ourselves?

Edit: @KnowledgeKing Also how did someone held the Eternal Flame, without getting burnt to crisp? And were no security measures tipped-off in this robbery? coz I remember in Thor 1, how fast Odin reacted to the Frost Giants in the treasury and burnt them to crisp with the Destroyer.

Actually we can we have a 5.1 meaning our hands are a +30 vs a sword that is a +25. Against living beings the h2h decreases the opponent by equal to biology score.

@KnowledgeKing: So... how chill would the Chitauri be serving Loki/Asgard? Though would they have that pesky "lack of self-preservation" issue? Still, if they're chill being our servants, we could always just upgrade them. Hmm, actually... does the Super Serum Osmond made work for any creature or is it specifically tailored to Asgardians?

Besides that, regarding Loki's Magic Weapon(s), what base abilities will they have regardless? Like if we're going with teleporting daggers, then having them return to us from wherever like Mjonir would be really helpful.

Just because some character in another series does something isn't a winning argument. Besides that we can literally just invest in some teleportation magic for combat like last quest.

Note, that Loki is still ridiculously strong due to his heritage and he could do other strikes beside nerve strikes and the gauntlets would boost our striking power. We also still have sealing with h2h.

The weapon will also give a base boost based on what we are fighting with. So gauntlets will increase martial when fighting with hands. Nerve strike also only works with h2h on the character sheet. We also already fought a robot and stomped them.

Edit: @Sanas22 better question is how did they get in to the vault guarded by sensors and everything chained down

Plus, we do have the option to have Personal Teleporters made. Wouldn't be much harder having them imbued into weapons, so honestly we could do better than Teleport Daggers for Loki's Dwarven weapon.

Edit: @Red Bovine in order to avoid the mad situation we need to get it back before Thanos can study them. This also makes him retreat if it is him attacking the dwarves. Send the mercs to retrieve the flames and destroy military installations while we fight him with the dwarves. This forces him to retreat and gets him back for the attempted murder of the king.
Again with the 'attack, attack, attack!' strategy. You are ignoring the point that Thanos may not even have it on Titan and may have it somewhere else. Also he doesn't need to study it, he can just give it to Surt as is. You are also making a number of asumptions and we know those can always be wrong.

So from my perspective pissing off Thanos to the point of potentially sicking a full power Surt on him doesn't seem worth it just for petty vengeance and some damage.

You are ignoring that this is retaliation and a valid strategy to cause him to back off. We shouldn't give him the chance to give it to Surtur. Even if it isn't on the planet we can set back his military and tech advancement. From what I see you just want to keep on taking it instead of pushing back.

Edit: @KnowledgeKing is this a valid write in?

Thanos is pretty crazy but even then he doesn't want Loki dead and likely doesn't want to see Asgard destroyed. If he did take the flames and planned to give it to Surt he probably would have done it as soon as possible. Provoking him by attacking seems extremely unwise and you re making quite a number of assumptions and treating them like fact. Like how your plan doesn't seem to consider that the flames could be anywhere but Asgard or if the mercs would even be able to find it.

So I say since we legit have to worry about pushing Thanos too far that we not start shit and instead work on gathering more information and getting Odin back on his feet.

@Red Bovine @Darkcore41 So I was writing an omake, where Loki has a gauntlet called Járngreipr. Its ability is to increases strength of the user with each landed strike but it resets after the 5th strike. The user can also choose to withhold the power behind the first four strikes to gain one super strike. How about this ability?

A potential idea would be to just Bifrost Surtur to Titan... He can sense his powers, the Eternal Flame. Let Thanos regret his actions. And let Surtur be stuck there for eternity.

And Red... I don't know if the attack on Allfather and the robbery were a coincidence or both done by the same person (maybe Thanos, or maybe not). There needs to be retaliation.

What again baffles me is that no security measures were tripped during this whole excursion.
In Thor 1, a Frost Giant's presence alone in the Vault made Odin act and set Destroyer on them. But here... nothing... nada.

Edit: What I am trying to say is, Red, Asgard has been attacked twice in a decade. And now the Dwarves are being attacked... we need to retaliate.
And Darkcore, we don't know if this was Thanos, coz holding the eternal flames would burn someone down to crisp. So we can rule out a robot.

Edit 2: Also if people didn't notice... Thor now knows magic and has a Dwarven artifact.

The fact that anyone even snuck into Asgard, again, is also notable.

Just a note: from Thanos' perspective we already have antagonized him by not dropping sanctions, not apologizing, then rubbing it in. He has already stated that all he will do against us is our fault.

1. He is the only one who know the All father is injured.
2. He is one of the few enemies of Asgard that uses machines.
3. He is attacking the dwarves.
4.He warned retaliation last turn.
5. If he is personally leading the dwarves attack then this is a chance to attack Titan without him protecting it.
6. He is one of the few civs that out tech is and can get past our electronic defenses.

Again prettysure that the Bifrost only works for the Nine Realms. Besides that Surtur being at full power is still horrendously bad and even worse than Hela since he actively wants to destroy Asgard. Also we aren't sure if Thanos was behind the assassination or if it wasn't someone else using it as an opportunity. If we must retaliate rather we at least be sure.

Also we might want to examine the vault for evidence to see if we can find out how it was broken into and find clues to see if we can find out who was involved and to close up a security hole. Might also want to keep an eye on Surtur's domain until we can figure out what's going on with the flames and/or get it back.

-[z] Train new soldiers for the army. DC 30.
-- [z] Sif (Secondary)
-- [z] Tyr (Tertiary)
Roll: 60.7
A good success!

Sif and Tyr get to work on expanding the army and training new soldiers. This time it's pretty successful, and they get enough trained to make a new squad at least.

-[z] Fortify Asgard's Defenses. DC 90
-- [z] Sif (Primary)
-- [z] Tyr (Secondary)
-- [z] Thor (Tertiary)

Roll: 75.5
Failure.

Despite the combined military genius of Sif and Tyr, both commander and former commander, there doesn't seem to be any improvements in Asgard's defenses. Of course Thor refuses once again to do anything, leaving them by themselves, and thus Asgard remains stagnant in that regard.

-[z] Train the older soldiers with the same regimen that the new soldiers got. DC 60
-- [z] Sif (Tertiary)
-- [z] Tyr (Primary)
Roll: 87.3
Success!

As always, Sif and Tyr are good at training the older soldiers, giving a rundown of the new regiment, including magic, to the likes of Hogun, Fandral, Volstagg, and other older soldiers. Along the way, they manage to learn it themselves, and even Thor shows up, after hearing word of it.

Hogun, Volstagg, Fandral, Sif, Erling, Tyr, and Thor get the magic training.

-[z] Recruit more soldiers. DC 70
-- [z] Sigyn (Primary)
-- [z] Thor (Primary)
Roll: 68
Bare Failure.

Thor doesn't see the need to recruit more soldiers, and thus Sigyn is left on her own. Even with that, she tries to make do but...it doesn't really work out. Yes she's the queen, so a few people are almost swayed, but ultimately, most people don't see the reason to enlist. Asgard is the mightiest military after all.

-[z] Increase Support for the military. DC 40
-- [z] Sigyn (Tertiary)
-- [z] Thor (Secondary)
Roll: 36
Bare Failure.

Again, Thor refuses, and again SIgyn just barely fails at increasing support for the military. People are fine with the army and all, but fighting is something Asgardians naturally do. So enlisting in the army isn't special anymore. It's expected.

-[z] Meet with the leaders of the Nova Corps. DC 40
-- [z] Lorelei (Primary)
-- [z] Amora (Tertiary)
Roll: 87.3
A great success!

From reports, it's a productive meeting with the Nova Corps. and they and Asgard are assuredly on the same side. The side of justice. Because of this, they will consider passing info to Asgard, and may ask for aid, and aid Asgard in its endeavors against Thanos and the like. Both sides can profit from this, and together both sides acknowledge they're stronger.

Alliance with Nova Corps. is created.

-[z] Meet with one of the leaders of the Nine Realms (Muspelheim, Jotunheim, Nidavellir, Vanaheim, etc.) DC ??? (Dependent on the realm)
-- [z] Sigyn (Secondary)
-- [z] Loki (Secondary)

Roll: 145.5
An amazing success!

The Dwarves seemed honored to be meeting with Asgard's King and Queen, and ask that the two make themselves at home. The meeting is very productive, with the Dwarves agreeing to Loki's request of a new weapon, and to a possibility of Asgard and/or Loki putting up defenses for them, as they appear to be vulnerable. They're hesitant to discuss the forge or making a new one on Asgard, so Loki leaves that alone for now, and they do mention making an item for Thor.

"Oh, you didn't know? We assumed..." Trails the giant Dwarf King Eitri. Loki shakes his head.

"We did not. I will...discuss this with Thor. I--" BOOM! An explosion cuts Loki off as the room shakes. Eitri turns his head around in alarm.

"An attack? We...who could do such a thing? We don't have any enemies." He seems confused and worried. Loki grimaces. Thanos. It had to be. He needs to figure out what to do, as right now Sigyn is in danger, and only he and his guard is here to defend perhaps Asgard's greatest allies, in importance at least.

-[z] Create a factory to mass produce the new weapons from other worlds. DC 55
Roll: 4
A terrible failure.

Without direction from the King or any real leadership, plans fall apart and nothing really gets done. Not even an outline or a building is picked out or made. It's very disappointing.

-[z] Create a factory to mass produce electronics easier. DC 35
Roll: 38
Bare success.

The efforts to make a diferent factory is more productive. It barely's made, but it is made nonetheless, and now Asgard can mass produce electronics.

—[z] Have a magical Forge built here in Asgard. DC ???
-- [z] Loki (Primary)
Roll: 63

Loki attempts to get the materials and labor to make a magical Forge in Asgard but...all he manages to get is a normal one. The Dwarves are hesitant to share their secrets so...at the end of the day, Asgard simply has another forge. A King-endorsed one, but that's it.

-[z] Create a factory to mass produce ships and current Asgardian weapons. DC 65
-- [z] Loki (Teritary)
Roll: 34.7
Bad failure.

Even with Loki spending part of his time on it, the factory to create ships and Asgard's current weapons is...disastrous in its execution. Nothing works, a location is picked, but the building isn't made correctly and nothing can be produced. Oh well.

-[z] Gather as much information as possible on Titan. DC ???
-- [z] Osmond (Tertiary)
-- [z] Volstagg (Tertiary)
-- [z] Hogun (Primary)
-- [z] Erling (Secondary)
Roll: 64.7

Essentially nothing new is found about Titan. It has the highest level of technology and is rising higher, it has a powerful military, and of course it has its King Thanos. The only thing new is the mention of a second in command of sorts. Some refer to him as Thanos' son.

-[z] Establish an official Asgard Spy Ring. DC ???
-- [z] Osmond (Secondary)
-- [z] Hogun (Secondary)
-- [z] Fandral (Tertiary)
-- [z] Erling (Primary)

Roll: 91

It's not easy to secretely make an official spy organization. Secrets and spies go well together, but official doesn't match either. With much difficulty, the organization is made and the former spies are grandfathered into it, but it just barely succeeds, and nothing is really gained from it.

—[z] There seems to be a disturbance... DC ???
-- [z] Volstagg (Secondary)
-- [z] Hogun (Tertiary)
-- [z] Fandral (Secondary)
-- [z] Erling (Tertiary)
Roll: 45.3

There's something in the air, something off. Something's going to happen, and Volstagg can just feel it. He enlists the help of Fandral, Hogun, and Erlin, but still it isn't enough. Sadly, the assassin gets through and attacks, stabbing the All-Father in the heart repeatedly. It is only through the former Queen Frigga's distressed cries that the guards hear it and intervene, killing the (apparently robot) assassin and just barely saving the King's life. He hangs on by only a thread, and he can...pass at any moment it seems. Frigga herself has an injrued shoulder from when she rammed the assassin with all of her might, to save her husband.

Also unnoticed is a break-in to the vault. The Tesseract and Tablet are luckily being used in experiments, and thus do not remain, but the Warlock Eye and Eternal Flame have gone missing and are presumed missing.

Warlock's Eye has been taken. So has the Eternal Flame.

-[z] Attempt to steal/hack another world's defenses. DC 80
-- [z] Volstagg (Primary)
-- [z] Fandral (Primary)
Roll: 55

A mid-level failure.

Volstagg and Fandral aren't computer whizzes by any means. They also do not have the...minds needed to hack cybernetic defenses, and thus easily fail when they try. Fortunately they aren't tracked or found out, but they definitively fail.

-[z] Research and experiment with only one of the vault items.
-- [z] Tablet of Life and Time. DC 140
-- [z] Osmond (Primary)
-- [z] Elym (Tertiary)
-- [z] Ylva (Primary)
Roll: 197
Success!

Osmond assembles his team to experiment with the Tablet. Elym and Ylva are chosen, and with them and his lab, they manage to figure out what the Tablet does, and what the words mean. With their experiments, they make a serum. And with that serum, they manage to...improve the specimen in question, a volunteer, to immense levels of power. The serum isn't at full power quite yet, but the increase in physical abilities is still extreme. The volunteer is none other than Tyr, and with the serum, his injuries begin to heal rapidly and he regains his former strength...and beyond it. As of now, he's at least as strong as the King, if not more so, and seems to have regained some of his youth as well.

There's more work to be done, but it's a big step.

Serum healed Tyr and his injuries will soon be no more.
Tyr has regained some of his youth.
Tyr's Martial has increased to 35.

-[z] Use the Tesseract to create/power more technology. DC ???
-- [z] Elym (Primary)
-- [z] Ylva (Secondary)
Roll: 199.5+4=203.5+4+30=237.5

Elym picks her own team, and with Ylva and Eir she too has success. The Tesseract is a great source of energy and high level technology, and Elym manages to create a few blueprints and designs that can use it. She can foresee a ship, a shield, weapons, ship level weapons, and a large laser that's more of an anti-air/large powered weapon. Which does Loki choose?

You have 2 points.
[] Personal shields (1)
[] Personal Teleporters (1)
[] Weapons (1)
[] Ship weapons/guns (1)
[] Large Laser (2)
[] Ship (2)
[] Large Shield (2)

—[z] Reverse Engineer the technology the mercenaries brought, using what you can from the wreckage. DC 45
-- [z] Elym (Secondary)
-- [z] Ylva (Tertiary)
-- [z] Eir (Tertiary)
Roll 40+7=47
Bare success.

Elym barely gets what's needed to reverse engineer the technology brought by the mercenaries. For the most part, it's only increasing their ships capabilities and manueverability, and the ability to make a robot/robots, and of course their high tech weaponry/guns.

Asgard's ships can be improved, Asgard can make robots, and know how to make high tech laser guns.

—[z] Create a scrying pool of sorts. To keep an eye on others. DC ???
-- [z] Amora (Primary)
-- [z] Lorelei (Secondary)
-- [z] Eir (Primary)

A good success!

With Amora and Lorelei's aid (and a little from Eir), Asgard has a successful scrying pool. It can see anything within the Nine Realms, and with the right coordinates, it can look anywhere for up to five minutes at a time. It would be useful in peering at Asgard's enemies and preventing further tragedies.

—[z] Use Magic to bolster Asgard's Security. DC 90
-- [z] Amora (Secondary)
-- [z] Lorelei (Tertiary)
-- [z] Eir (Secondary)

Great success!

Amora and Lorelei do good work. On top of the Nova Corps. and the scrying pool, they manage to bolster Asgard's security, especially on the palace, with enchantments to keep out their enemies. Of course a powerful enough sorcerer could get through, but Amora assures Loki that there are few as powerful as her.

-[z] Visit Hábrók as he attempts to heal. DC 50
-- [z] With Sigyn (Primary)
Roll: 61.
Bare success.

Loki's old pet is barely responsive to him, attempting to ingore him and Sigyn as they visit. It seem that Hábrók was angry at the lack of concern and attention from before, and even as they petted him, he pretended they were not there. But still they visited. Time after time they visit Loki's pet, and eventually he warms up to normal level. He's not affectionate, but he does begin to recover some, as he was before, like a normal Roc would.

Loki can't help but smile and kiss his wife's hand in thanks.

-[z] Go visit your Mother. She's recovered, but still weak. DC 15
Roll: 47
An amazing success!

Loki would spare anything to make sure his mother is fine. She's up now, but still damaged. Her hands shake violently if she tries to do anything with them, and she can only walk slowly...very slowly, but she's getting better. Loki clenches his fist in anger at the thought of how she was injured, partially his fault, but he smiles at seeing her face and looking into her eyes, and talking to her.

She isn't able to use her magic and Loki...cannot imagine the feeling, but still she keeps in good spirits, commenting on his reign and the good he's done for Asgard. She does warn him not to get consumed by revenge or in trying to strike back at the enemy, but instead to build himself and Asgard. Destruction was never a thing anyone wanted. At best, it was something that was an unfortunate consequence. Loki heeds her words. He's just glad to have her back.

—[z] Talk to Thor about his actions. DC ???
Roll: 82

Loki somehow manages to pin Thor down (figuratively) so they can have their necessary conversation. Thor allows it, but simply sits there as Loki rants and raves at him about how he endangered Asgard, and was wrong to indiscriminately kill, putting civilians in danger with his actions. Loki also chastises him for abandoning Asgard and for not ruling as is his birthright, and for endangering himself.

"I have not abandoned Asgard Loki. I am but doing what I need to do to..." He trails off. "And you are better as King. I have a mission I must complete, one that will have me unfit as King. Do not worry for me brother, worry for our enemies, and if there will be anything left of them." Thor assures him. Loki isn't convinced.

-[z] Purchase...an army. DC ???
-- [z] With Sigyn (Secondary)
Roll: 686

Loki and Sigyn manage to purchase an army, larger than Asgard's by several times over. It's amazing and almost scary as he looks over the available armies for him to have as his own. There are choices of course, of where to place them, and of what to choose, but otherwise, it's all looking good.

Which army does Loki purchase?
[] Outriders
[] Chitauri
[] Ravagers
[] Random Mercenary Army

Where does Loki station his army?
[] Asgard
[] All over the realms/Phoenix Financial
[] Soemthing more specific (Write-In)

[z] Ask the Dwarves about making a weapon similar to Mjolnir for you. DC 60
-- [z] Sigyn (Tertiary)
Roll: 70
Success

The Dwarves are open to Loki's request, as he asks during their great and awesome meeting (where Loki is King). The honor of the King and Queen meeting them, makes them very agreeable, and they simply wish to know what Loki wants?

[] A sword
[] A spear
[] A hammer
[] An axe
[] Two daggers
[] Write-In (clear it in the thread with me)

And of course, what he wants for the weapon
[] Increase his Binding/Sealing
[] Add an element on them
[] Increase his strength
[] Increase his speed
[] Increase his durability
[] Write-In (clear it in the thread with me)

-[z] Of course.
Frigga is all smiles when meeting with both of her sons. Thor is repentant, promising her that he will bring her vengeance. She only pats his hand (slowly) and asks him to instead live and improve himself, as that would be the best gift for her. Thor is pained to do it, but he nods, placating his mother for now.

She also asks that Thor help you in your reign, rather than being combative as he has, and he nods at that as well.

"I will help, Mother."

Otherwise, it's only happy discussion and joyful conversation with the long missed mother of both of the Odinsons.

Roll: 91

-[z] Send aid
Roll: 125

Loki hears the explosion and immediately calls Asgard for Aid. Who does he send? (Loki can send any and everyone immediately. Even Thor)
[] Write-In

-[z] Hear her out.

Sif simply requests to be able to make a new squad and revive the Valkyries. There's no real time to discuss, so Loki shelves it and will get back to it later.

Roll: 4

[z] Expansion: Nova Corp
Roll: 75

Sigyn expands into being the Nova Corps official financial institution.
-[z] Train new soldiers for the army. DC 30.

Literally the next update after I worry about Odin something happens. Now do you all see why I worry?

Also don't send everyone, because we just got stealthed we shouldn't risk it again.

Even if it isn't Thanos that attacked (very unlikely) he is still a hostile. If this is him attacking the right now he left his planet vulnerable. When you attack you weaken yourself to a counter.

Also if the eternal flame goes to Surtur we just use the formula on Odin to have him go back to his prime. We cannot let Thanos study two different mind control artifacts.

" She does warn him not to get consumed by revenge or in trying to strike back at the enemy, but instead to build himself and Asgard. "
