hmmm, a squad of powered armored bone head treated ogryn bodyguards? with a squad of skitarri back up, then taking the time to properly train some quality house guards?

This is a very legitimate way of going forward as a good chunk of a sector you would buy is completely unexplored and half is only partially explored, though I would suggest focusing on 3-4 in the beginning
Question. If we only buy a Subsector now, can we buy the full Sector later on (after we are fully established)?

Chances are high that we'll keep finding STC's and Archeotech and it would be nice if we traded with Sonia again to get more clay later on.

Well, the Ogryn group (two squads, or 20 Ogryn) from my omake have increased intelligence due to Darwinian selection in the Underhives where they came from, so combine that with upscaled carapace armor and actual Space Marine weapons, they'd be horrific. And that's not even counting STC discoveries that would be even more terrifying.

You could but It would be significantly harder to, since if you don't take the sector Lord position it will be given to someone else and they will have had the time to entrench their political position

[X] Plan Sector lord

We still have 11 STC that we can fix for more BP, so lets get all we need, and next time lets not do Licenses and put everthing into Conversions

All I want is a GAOT version of an Abrams. With energy shields, microfusion reactors, and a 200mm railgun, hopefully.

abrams x: got you fam

upgrades:

>autoloader
>3 operators instead of 4
>turret weights a shiton less (saves money, materials, faster to build, less prone to get stuck in terrain)
>focus on sound mitigation (allows for surprise assaults, tanks can usually be heard miles away, mitigating the sound means the enemy can be caught pants down)
>better fuel efficiency (less fuel used, more time and distance to operate before it needs refuel)
>standby mode that allows to operate weapons and sensors while reducing the heat and other signatures the enemy could use to track the tank
>AI systems that can identify targets and compile them in a ranked list for human operators to eliminate.
>improved networking allowing to link with the data of other units to better track the battlefield
>plans to include some degree of manless/remote control

and im sure is not all,god bless the US military industrial complex
just slap a las canon on that,a energy shield and the railguns

@Lord Necromancer I am assuming we would be getting a sector that has been recently brought into the imperium and there for why we could take the sector lord and all the planetary leadership positions under it without much issue hence why the admech could even offer that ? since there is no established political power to oppose their sector being handed over like a prize

Growing the Protectorate
Growing the Protectorate

Rose had always known that life in the underhive was precarious. Every day was a struggle for survival, and the looming threat of violence and danger was a constant presence. But the upcoming purge was different. This was an existential threat, one that could wipe out theall of their allies in one fell swoop. If they were to survive, they needed to act fast and act smart.

And so Rose began her mission to build a coalition of allies. She knew that the Red Vipers couldn't take over the underhive post purge alone, and that they needed a network of support if they were to stand a chance. But building that network was no easy task. The people of the underhive were suspicious and distrustful, and many of them had no interest in getting involved in the Red Vipers' struggles.

But Rose was a natural leader, and she knew how to inspire loyalty and trust in others. She spoke to people with empathy and understanding, and she promised them safety and protection if they joined her cause. And gradually, bit by bit, she began to build a network of allies.

It wasn't just the gangs of the underhive that Rose reached out to. She knew that the mutants, the tech-adepts, and other marginalized groups could be valuable allies as well. She didn't discriminate based on race, creed, or background; she simply saw potential where others saw only obstacles.

As the deadline for the purge drew closer, Rose's sense of urgency grew stronger. She knew that time was running out, and that they needed as many allies as possible if they were to stand a chance. And so she worked tirelessly, making deals and forging alliances, all in service of her greater goal.

But even as she built her network of allies, Rose couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. She knew that the upcoming fight would be brutal and bloody, and that many of her allies would not make it out alive. She couldn't promise them safety with absolute certainty; all she could do was offer them the best chance of survival that she could.

And that was all she could, keep them safe, and once this threat was gone, the Red Vipers would raise, and with the backing of Sabutai , they might make something of the underhive as the Red Vipers Protectorate

Yes it has just recently been brought into the fold, and while some of the planets will have to be given to basically random people because of the law and politics, most PG's will be either vetted or approved by you.

=We have two other injured that require your help hospitaller, what place are we to settle them in=

"In the back with the others" and the slog continued.

A stich there, a prayer there, some force required to set everything into place more often than note and a bolter shot to the face if they needed a quick dead. Some called her a witch behind her back and hidden from sight as to not be declared heretics and traitors, others that she healed called her an angel and she denied them every time for the true angels were out there helping the galaxy at large, and others of her sect even declared her a saint, to which se refused for she was no saint even if she shared the name of one from the distant past.

For this was her role, her mission, her divine commandment, to see the needs of those forced to rest and alleviate the pain of those injured under His gaze, and what a lot of work she had, from venomous bites to crushing claws the size of a man, but it did not mattered for she had seen worse, she had seen the results of a Tyrranid interrupted in the middle of eating, the pulped remains that a Tau railgun leaved behind, the horrifying signs of an ork whaa that had pass trough and more recently, in this ever dark, man made cavern of proportions immeasurable, the terrible results of nature turned against man.

Holes the size of her fist in the guts of man, dripping with acidic poisons, vile venoms that paralyzed the body and mind, in some cases enough that mercy had to be given to the afflicted, the crushing were the best and the worst, for as simple as they were the barbs of the claws would get lucky on occasion crudely sawing a man at the point of impact helped along with their flailing as they tried to escape.

But even with that, it could not be all, as she watched the servitors assign to her relegate their news the frown in her faced couldn't help but form as the weird blade marks with that surely heretical green shine to them were visible even from distance.

=We have three other heretics that require your purging hospitaller, what place are we to execute them in=

"Put them outside and to the back, I will deal with them"

And deal with them she did, she cleaned the wounds, burned the corruption, administered the proper quantity of heling chemicals and pastes, only to finally put them out of their misery as she could not save them yet again, but she stilled her hearth and adjusted her clothes for even in the grim darkness of the future and the looming aspect of danger and war, she.

Sister Hospitaller Superior Nightingale the 2312th, had to have hope.

The Difficulty of Choice
The Difficulty of Choice

The universe was vast as it was dark, history said of a time when they had taken to the lands as if the stars, full of mysteries and answers, wonders and tragedies, all so much bigger yet smaller than the last, and in that moment, he never felt like those primitives' humans, void of knowledge of the dangers in the wider galaxy and without an Emperor or the Omnisaih to guide them

"Around here is the place where you will be working alongside your assigned magus"

He wo had set his life purpose to discover the secret held within those, oh so marvelous star was lied and trapped in his own ignorance for the task was grander and more difficult that he had ever imagined. It all had started with the void, that o so treacherous three-dimensional black void that just keep rebuffing all attempt at comprehension and understating, as he dived at the stars in search of knowledge, always so difficult to understand and put together in a manner that made sense to the eyes, ears and even taste.

"Here is the sainted workshop of the magus assigned to your apprenticeship, any other questions shall be directed to him"

And as the great existences in his life directed their looks at him (or so he believed in his current state), their gaze setting on his frame, he was dissected, stripped of flesh and machine, his mind reverting back to years before and his memories focusing in his ….

"Magos superior?"

What?

Turning on the spot, Magos Explorator Indiana Thrones watched as a gaggle of apprentice's shuffle on there still fleshy legs, proper implants and replacement of good sturdy machine visible between the folds of the red mars robes.

What the hell were they… o right he requested some of the apprentices that were doing a pilgrimage to the holy land below the very hive city they inhabited to "help him" (read, put to do his more boring works and his chores) around while he decoded the great quantity of sacred STC that the saint keep discovering.

"Very well, lest start".

Its Always the Inquisition, Chaotic entry
OMAKE: Its Always the Inquisition, Chaotic entry

Inquisitor Hans, was tasked by the Mechanicus in order to scout the Sector XXXX-XXX, after it he was reward handomely by them, with the mission over and the quest completed, Hans can and is doing what he should have been doing in the first place, after he received a Messenger asking or more exactly, demanding that go and travel to this Sector because one bastard of a teacher named Inquisitor Gideon Hargane may have discovered a Inquisitior Relic that was crafted before the Siege of Terra.

The last sight of her was in a transport ship with one Inquisitor and his party to one planet prepared to seal her and be protected against the agentes of Chaos after the tumultuos Horus Heresy, unfortunately we lost the records of what this relic is supposed to do with the loss of the archives of data that the ship itself did have, sadly the ship was lost in the warp but with recent readings and a lot of luck it was possible to triangulate its position to dum-fuck-nowhere-sector.

But for the mission to be completed he will need the help of the Mechanicus in both recovering the Relic as the state that she is are outside the skill level of our own best and to rediscover what this relic was meant to do as the loss of information only described it as a weapon of some sort, as outside hindrance it was noted that the closer to the planet where the relic are the harder is for our own astropath to guide our armada, the gellar field from the battleships are being used longer and longer, as a consequence of this Hans' pysker unfortunaly have died of daemon possession and because of the incidente it is confirmed that the dammed Chaos has its interest set in the Relic, but Hans are prepared for the eventual battle against Chaos, he already have the strongest and toughest ships that the Imperium can provide for him with the best army possible that is composed with soldiers of one million battles, tanks and artillery created inside the most prestigious forgeworlds, each and every round being blessed to kill every single daemon and most importante a Will build confronting the worst of the galaxy battle after battle, with sheer blood, sweat and one untold amount of bullets to do what is best for Humankind.

I have to admit, I can't wait for the next couple of updates and the underhive purge to begin in earnest.

In the other 40k quest I was involved in, "The road not taken", there was an early purge of the main character Octavia's Forge City of Bermuda, so we could properly upgrade it into an Arcology (an STC found early on in that game). I was contributing omakes, expecting the campaign would take multiple parts and be an involved process (because Forge Cities are Hive Cities with an AdMech twist, so they're huge places internally and would be an epic narrative), but instead of a 20-part epic narrative, we got a simple multi-turn update action in the main list of actions (something like "turn 8, years 5-9, the campaign is brutal, many casualties are reported in the depths").

Such an anemic - heck, skeletal - lack of, well everything - characterization, epic action, nail-biting suspense, even horror considering this is 40K - really soured me on how the main GM there did his thing. I had begun to help with behind the scenes stuff like tech/STC ideas and some structural stuff, but it was after that I began to seriously try and contribute as co-GM as much as possible, feeling that I could make up for what I felt were deficiencies in narrative by adding additional content to what the GM wrote, so instead of a mere two sentences for an action on any given turn, I would spin out a detail-filled yarn of whatever it was about, aiming for worldbuilding and a greater sense of being dropped into the middle of a 3D living world. Thats one of the reasons each turn and update ballooned in size, it was me adding more to almost every post. Eventually the game grew so big the GM changed the narrative structure of the game so he could handle it, and I largely got left out of the next stage in the game's future by that point, but by that point I was getting married to my wife, moving and getting a dog in the same month, planning our future, getting two new jobs, moving again, then getting my wifey knocked up, then my dog died, and now I'm a dad, so I've never really regretted that bc I had to move on with my life as I had no free time left to contribute like that anymore.

Anyways, here...so far that hasn't been a problem. Yeah we're discovering STCs remarkably quickly, but actually fixing them and implementing them is taking TIME, which the other game kind of ignored to rush up the tech tree at an illogically fast pace. I learned a lot from that game, but reading all the community contributions here, all the wonderful small glimpses into a hundred different omake characters doing whatever they do in their lives (or deaths)...its very satisfying. I feel like this game has a lot of potential.

So...yeah. I throw my compliments to you @Lord Necromancer . You're doing a great job so far. I know this kind of game can evolve rapidly out from underneath your feet, but you're doing a fantastic job in working with the players, taking advice, and adapting to keep up. I'm really glad we're all having fun here.

Going to have to make this non-canon for now, since the Tyranids are a fairly recent threat and the Sisters were formed in M37 ish so you might be in an earlier time period

1) -10 to allied casualty rolls
2) Minor hero: Sister Nightingale
3) 1 Roll

The Difficulty of Choice
Ah Dr Jones how good to see you

2) extra 1d100 in decoding rolls for 2 turns
