I'm still leery on the idea of giving Robespierre a trial... QM may have confirmed that he won't escape punishment this time, but we need to at least jail him if we do not want to deal with him again (and the trial option has the chance of him being punished only with exile, which doesn't solve anything). I really want to be done with Robespierre now that we've finally caught him again, as we enough enemies and internal problems to deal with without accounting for the former consul. He has caused us more than enough trouble and it is high time he left the play.

Okay but what about him becoming a martyr? The last thing we need is more enemies in France. Unless there is a way to counter it or something then we need to think this through.

Robes is a man who is now defined by his fight against monarchism and despotism. He has captured the imagination of the liberal republican movements across Europe, even more so then Brian, Therese and Napoleon have in a way, at least outside of France.

He is for all intents and purposes the greatest revolutionary alive, even more then the American Founding Fathers.

He embodies the revolution and if you are not careful, in his death, it can come back to haunt you.

Exactly my point!

If we act too hasty, it could bite us in the ass later.

That's my worry about everyone being so Gung ho about killing him.

The last time we didn't kill him he started a civil war, allied with France's enemies, fomented counter-revolutionary terrorism and almost blew up our children. This has, understandably, skewed people's opinions somewhat.

Personally, I'm of the belief nobody inspired by his death is going to be even half as capable as Robs himself, so I'm willing to skip the chance that he gets away again. If we'd been given the option, I'd have voted for Ney to shoot him dead in that tavern.

Understanble it's just there Will be some people who think that can and still be the true jacobian revolutionary

If he gets away he'll only die tired.
Hey does anyone know if Charlotte is back in France or is she still in Britain?
Still in Britian

We could simply restrict the charges against Robespierre to conspiracy to murder children. Not even him could spin that in a positive way, even more since we can contrast that to how we protected the royal heirs and turned them into loyal revolutionaries.
And I would suggest we that starting with him we replace the guillotine with a firing squad or noose, in effect executing the symbol of the terror aling with his master.

I know it's better for us if he's no longer an issue but I can't help but have some part of me hope good old Robey squirrels his way out of this one as well

"To keep Robespierre alive and in prison would mean to invite War and destruction to this country. And to exile him would be more dangerous still.

Robespierre must die, so that the Nation may live."
You know reading back at that moment really makes one think about the situation one finds themselves in and wonder where it all went wrong.

Well for Robe: it was pissing off the wrong pair of siblings who made fast friends in the army and for taking his rightful paranoia to far.
...

God is laughing in Heavan at words being thrown back at Robe.
Irony is the gift that keeps on giving.

Although I shall say that the guillotine is possibly the most humane way of executing someone humankind has ever presented with…

Even though it also possibly it's most dehumanizing as well. Gravity is all that works for this machine.

If he somehow does that, I would change the name of the quest to RO Ros bizzarre adventures.

Nah, I would write a Negaverse-Quest with that Name.
But what if he's dead?

That will be a real shocker.
For the love of god, don't jinx it! And also, if we do just kill him, I hope we gag him so he doesn't even get the chance to talk! France doesn't need him spitting any more of his poison!
To late, now I will the dice now. And if it turns out the Reverse is true, by god man I will be so mad.

[]Exile: There will be no trial, as Robespierre is guilty. Let him go to America, and be forgotten to history. Cost 1 Wealth DC: 50 Reward: Robespierre is sent off to America, to be forgotten.
On exile, I think the flavor text is a narrative guarantee on him becoming a non-factor? If it is,

Yes, I am for beheading him, no more risking it. Otherwise focus on the eternal consequences of war: shattered homes and shattered minds. Time to give back and help rebuild lives. Though I did pick vaccine over prosthetics, we only have so much time and Pox affects everyone.
GM said that the risk is a consecutive nat 1 then nat 100 anyways

The thing I will say is this: if Robe is given a trial, the only way he walks free is if you roll a nat 1 with no bonuses. Anything less then they will either confine him, exile him or kill him.
That is without bonuses, so I think the decision is not whether he dies or not at this point, it's how he gets offed and then how we deal with the aftermath.

From GM replies it's also implied that the martyr consequence has pretty good chances

Sad to see he's not getting a trial

Boy will he become a revolutionary symbol for future generations though, the terror is a non issue because he successfully blamed it on his allies, and the civil war can be portrayed as him standing up against the monarchist, dictatorial tyranny of Napoleon's military backed regime

Or we scapegoat him for the formation of the Second Coalition and frame him as an agent of foreign powers and he'll go down in history as a hypocritical traitor that did more damage to the cause of the Revolution than the supposed dictator Napoleon ever did (Marat's execution can be used to show that Robespierre himself was a tyrant, for he executed a man because his pride was hurt by his remarks).
This time, Robespierre will be finished and his legacy will die with him, tarnished and ruined.

EDIT: That said, no matter what option we end up going for regarding Robespierre (straight execution with no trial or a trial), we should throw a total of +50 worth of omake bonuses on whatever Robespierre action we take, to ensure it goes well.

Is the martyr roll his roll or ours? Can we affect it with bonuses?

My argument's not even that we let him live, I believe that he's already fated to die either way, the judges are already biased. I'm concerned on the martyr possibility. If we take the trial option, he's like to get voted guilty and even if he does unlikely get exiled. The flavor text specifies that he gets forgotten by history so I'm fine with even that.

But yeah I agree want him dead too, it's just the martyr thing worries me, France is still internally fractured by political factions.
