It's LIke XCOM, But With More Sparkles -- Henshin Heroes & Heroines HQ Quest!

While I do agree that we'll need hazard containment eventually, I don't think they'll be needed for researching the crystals. These things seem to just be energy siphons; the worst case scenario I see happening is a lab of scientists going unconscious because they poked them wrong. It doesn't strike me as a problem prone to spread.

It's possible that the trait gain isn't guaranteed, or occurs at levels that an important Henshin trait or special ability isn't gained.

My money would be on that particular level-up just having something more important to add than a regular trait.

Actually, Hikaru did get an 11 on a Training roll. That's where he got the Fighter (Unarmed) Trait from... which I forgot to add to his sheet.
Oops.
Fixed.

@Pittauro, my previous post was the only time that I found that message, but I've collected the other times that our heroes gained traits from training below.
Sector VII – Train (Hikaru) – 6, 5 = 11 (PURE SUCCESS)

Seems that having Odessa throw him around is actually working. Hikaru's starting to improve his hand-to-hand skills, enough that he's actually confident he can use them effectively in battle. His confidence is actually starting to grow now, enough that people seem to feel lighter-hearted around him.

(+1 EXP to Hikaru)
(* HIKARU LEVEL UP! Ability Unlocked: Armor of Optimism *)
(Hikaru gains the Trait: Fighter (Unarmed))
@PurpleProse, can each hero only gain 1 trait from each sector?

If it's only 1 trait per sector, then Hikaru and Touma can only TRAIN with Sector III for an additional trait while Subaru can TRAIN with either Sector III or Sector VII.

Edit: After Abyssien pointed it out, I removed the level up traits, which only leaves 1 other time that a hero gained a trait from training.

Don't make confusion: some of these are traits that they have gained from Level-Up.
If we get a Trait from somewhere else, that's a bonus trait.

Thanks. I removed the level up traits, which leaves only 1 other trait gained from training. We should probably avoid having Hikaru TRAIN with Sector VII until we figure out whether he can gain more traits from that sector.
Yup. Well, we have a lot of heroes to train.
The closest is Touma, but we can't Train him because of the event.
Jin is the lowest level and he's 1/5, the same as Naoko, both injuried.
The only hero without negative trait that we can train is Hikaru

People, chill. I will get to updating the codex and such to reflect the recent post.
In addition, a Hero can only acquire a Trait once from Training in a sector. Assuming a Hero gets a Pure Success in each Sector, they can get a total of 3 Bonus Traits: one from Magic, one from Tech, one from Deployment.

We don't necessarily know all of their capabilities though. Now that I think about it, it's probably a really good idea to RESEARCH the Silhouette Residue before doing the Shadow Crystal Modification because we've seen the crystals resurrect the Silhouettes before. I also have to wonder about the limits on the villain's ability to teleport. Can he teleport anywhere there's a Shadow Crystal activated?

The GM did say that we can still TRAIN heroes with INJURIES or STRESS, but now that you've pointed that out, we should probably leave Naoko out of it this time. She's lost her first band of STRESS so she'll probably have at least -1 to her rolls IF we can even train her. We can train Jin and Subaru though. I suggest going with Jin, just because we've never done a TRAIN action with him before.

ok, so that means Touma completed got sector V's trait, and Hikaru got sector VII's (unless that was a level up trait, but I don't think it was)

Despite the toll it's taken on your Heroes, spirits are high among the base's staff. You're a bit nervous as to when the other shoe will drop, but you take care not to say anything about it, lest you dampen the mood.

Okay, well morale's high and we got momentum, so let's make the most of it.

[X] INTERACT
-[X] Subaru Shirai
-[X] Naoko Kirigaya
[X] SUPPORT
-[X] Sector III

The more interactions we have, the better. It's been noted that we haven't had a one-on-one with our first hero yet, so let's get on that. And we already decided to ourselves to follow up with Naoko after our last encounter, so let's get on that too. Treating our heroes as people to connect with is the best way to encourage them to improve.
Considering the last time we tried producing materials we ended up losing them instead, I think some extra help here might be warranted. And I concede that considering current group dynamics, shaking things up by recruiting Nanoha might not be best just yet.

Sector II – Manufacturing & Support – Active
[X] PRODUCE (ROLL REQUIRED)
[X] BUILD
-[X] Stunner Attachment (3 Resource, 3 Turns)

Not much else to do here, but I could've sworn we haven't designed the Stunner Attachment yet, so how can we build it?
Edit: Whoops, we did already design it last turn. My mistake. Okay, let's do that instead, but it's already starting to cut into our resources a bit. Still, it would've been useful last time.

Sector III – Technology Research and Analysis – Active
[X] RESEARCH (ROLL REQUIRED)
-[X] Stasis Pods (Alien)

Let's make use of G-P-T's Alien expertise this time around.

Sector IV – Data & Media Intercept & Analysis – Active
[X] INVESTIGATE (ROLL REQUIRED)

-[X] White Venom Society

Fairly sure we unlocked that research topic at the end of the last Incident, even if it's not listed.

Sector V – Metaphysical Analysis & Research – Active
[X] RESEARCH (ROLL REQUIRED)
-[X] Silhouette Residue

With the riskiness of the Shadow Crystals acknowledged and us not having done anything to contain it if the worst happens, I'm going to choose this as a research topic (open to discussion).

Sector VI – Medical & Biological Research – Active
[X] THERAPY
-[X] Yukimura Okami

Fenrir is the most critical, so let's help him out.

Sector VII – Security & Deployment – Active
[X] TRAIN (ROLL REQUIRED)
-[X] Jin Hansou

I'd rather hold off on training Naoko until later (maybe our interaction might give a future bonus), so let's help Jin get up to scratch.

We designed the stunner attachment during the last base phase. Also, I suggest that we SUPPORT Sector III instead of Sector II. If we fail to BUILD the stunner attachment, we can always try again next turn, and we don't have any other really important actions for that sector. Researching the stasis pods opens up the path to DESIGN and then BUILD something so it's more important that it succeed.

Ah, so we did. My mistake.
I concede to your logic.

@PurpleProse, what's the Resource build cost for the Stunner Attachment anyway?

I'm good with these votes. Hopefully, we can INVESTIGATE the White Venom Society next time, assuming that they're a separate FoE from the Glorious Path. I still think they're at least working together, considering that the Glorious Path knew to target Maya and how the base was set up because the FoEs seemed to be working together.

@storysmith112358, it looks like you're still voting to PRODUCE instead of BUILD the stunner attachments in Sector II.

Edit: Abyssien made a good point about how we're more likely to encounter the FoE we haven't faced yet so I changed my vote to INVESTIGATE the White Venom Society instead of the Glorious Path.

More roster expansion (bringing this universe's Nanoha online can only be good for us), finally getting around to talking with Subaru, and getting some research done.

Sector II – Manufacturing & Support – Active
[X] BUILD
-[X] Stunner Attachment

That's expensive! But it would have been extremely handy last time, and will probably be extremely handy again.

Sector III – Technology Research and Analysis – Active
[X] RESEARCH (ROLL REQUIRED)
-[X] Stasis Pods (Alien)

That'll probably be good for locking down villains for interrogation, or preserving critically injured heroes. Either is good.

Sector IV – Data & Media Intercept & Analysis – Active
[X] INVESTIGATE
-[X] White Venom Society

More roster expansion! Investigate is definitely tempting so I won't be sad if it wins (in particular, investigating the Golden Path might let us know whether or not Grandeur is coming back), but moar heroes. MOAR HEROES!
Some good points made, changing my vote.

Sector V – Metaphysical Analysis & Research – Active
[X] RESEARCH (ROLL REQUIRED)

These guys shouldn't be a big deal, and yet here they are. That seems worth looking into before the next time we run into them.

Sector VI – Medical & Biological Research – Active
[X] THERAPY
-[X] Yukimura Okami

The last thing we need is a stressed-out werewolf.

Sector VII – Security & Deployment – Active
[X] PATROL (ROLL REQUIRED)

Touma is 4/5 for exp and hasn't gotten a trait from Sector 7, so he seems the logical choice.
DISREGARD THIS I PREFER REDSHIRTS

If we've got a bonus chance of positive events, we should do something that gives us events!
