"So," you say as Hikaru rubs his hair with the towel, "how're things with you and the others?"
Hikaru pauses and pulls the towel down around his neck, hands gripping the ends as he considers your question. "I… um… get along fine with them, ma'am."
(The lie was so transparent you almost feel insulted.) You arch an eyebrow at Hikaru, which results in him wilting just a little.
"It's just…" Hikaru scratches his cheek nervously, "I'm a little intimidated by most of the others. Subaru-san is really smart and quick-thinking, and Touma-san Is always really confident about everything…"
"Self-effacing isn't a good look on anybody," you interrupt.
(Best to nip that in the bud; you already get enough of it out of Touma.)
"Sorry."
"What about Jin?" You watch Hikaru tense up a bit as you ask that. "I'm guessing you two don't get along well?"
"I… I don't really like Jin-san," Hikaru replies, frowning deeply. "I get that he's experienced, but he always acts like he's the one who should be in charge."
"And you disagree?"
Hikaru bites his lip. "Well… no… I mean, we're supposed to be a team. We should work together and listen to each other. I don't think Jin likes doing that very much."
"I don't disagree." You hold up a finger to keep Hikaru quiet. "But here's the problem with always looking for a consensus; that's not always possible during a crisis. Sometimes, somebody has to take charge and give the orders when you're in the field."
"I-I know, but…"
"It sounds to me like you think you'd do a better job than Jin." You cross your arms, curious as to how he'll react to this.
(Hikaru remembers prior conversations.)
Hikaru looks down for a while, then takes a deep breath and looks up at you. "Maybe I… Maybe I could. Ma'am."
"Well then, maybe you should go talk to Jin about that."
Hikaru winces slightly. "Maybe… not right now."
You nod in satisfaction. Maybe the otaku has a spine in there after all.

"You know," you say as Yukimura gets to his feet, "you don't really talk much about yourself, do you?"
Yukimura gives you a look that could best be interpreted as 'ya think so?' before he rubs the injection site.
"I'm not trying to pry just to sate my own curiosity," you continue. "It's more that I don't know a whole lot about you outside of basic research. I know you have family up in Hokkaidō…"
He snorts at that. "Blood relations. Not family. We left after parents died."
"We?"
"Me and my sister. Yukiko."
You're starting to sense a theme with the names, but decide not to comment on it. "Were you two close?"
He nods softly. "Very." He fumbles with his pants pocket before he produces his wallet. He opens it and pulls out a folded photo from one of the pockets. It's faded, but you can see an image of a much younger looking Yukimura and a slightly older girl. Both of them have dark hair. They're standing in front of what appears to be a lake with an older gentleman in a long, intricately-patterned robe with a full beard who you guess is likely their father.
"Did something happen?"
He adjusts the collar of his shirt. "Lost track of her after Chimera took me. Haven't found her yet."
You swallow. "I'm sorry to hear that."
"Better me than her," he replies, not looking you in the eye.
(His closed-off body language and lack of eye-contact suggest that that's not entirely true.)
"You know, I could have the guys in Sector IV see if they can find her for you."
Yukimura glances at you, then nods again. "Would like that."
You hand the photo back and gently pat him on the arm. "I'll see what I can do, alright?"
"Thank you," he says softly, right before his stomach growls. "Sorry."
"No worries. Go get something to eat."
Yukimura excuses himself and walks out of the door. You watch him leave quietly.

As you watch Yukimura walk out, your phone goes off. You answer quickly. "Hongo."
"Administrator, you might want to come up to Central Command," the bridge bunny on the other end says. "We may have a situation."
"On my way."

You soon arrive at Central Command. The door hisses shut as you walk around your desk. "Talk to me people. What's the situation?"
"Sir," one of the bridge bunnies says, "there's some sort of disturbance going on outside of the base. Outputting security footage to Monitor One now."
The monitor in question swings down to your eye level as security footage begins to output to it. It's a view from one of the exterior base cameras outside of the parking garage one of the base entrances are hidden in. A very large man in a very fluffy aviator jacket is standing in front of the hidden door leading to the deployment elevator, his arms crossed and his feat planted firmly. He looks up at the camera you're looking through and grins, flashing a peace sign before his lips move.
You glance to the bridge bunny who spoke up earlier. "Can we get audio?"
"Yes ma'am. One second."
There's a slight delay before you hear a deep manly voice boom through the speakers.
"-know you're in there, and I know you guys can see me. Let's not make this any more difficult than it has to be. Send your boys out already, or I'm gonna come in there myself!"
"Ma'am?" One of the bridge bunnies peers around the monitor at you. "What should we do?"
How do you respond?
[ ] IGNORE HIM – This is so obviously a trap. If we pretend he's not there, he might leave.
[ ] MOBILIZE – This is so obviously a threat. Send out your Heroes and see what this guy wants.
[ ] LET'S CHAT – This is so obviously a challenge. Talk to him via intercom and see what he wants.
