I think we need to INTERACT with Jin to learn what he knows about SAD, and we should probably do that as soon as possible in case they retaliate. Too bad, I had been hoping to INTERACT with Subaru this turn.

We can't do anything but PRODUCE with Sector II. At least if we succeed in designing the Stunner Attachment, then we'll have something to BUILD next turn. I really think we need a nonlethal option in case the villains minionize civilians. We should probably also INVESTIGATE Chimera to learn more about the origin of Yukimura's abilities.

Subaru and Naoko are only 1 XP from the next level. I put Naoko on Sector VII because she doesn't seem to feel like we're taking her seriously, and she has the UNTRAINED trait. That leaves Sector V for Subaru. If we HEAL Subaru this turn, then by the beginning of next turn, all of our HEROES should be at full health, assuming there's no INCIDENT this turn anyway.

@PurpleProse A few queries:
- When we find someone of note via the SCAN action, when do we know if he or she is a Hero or an Ally, when we find them, or when we talk to them? Can we focus our search to find one or the other?
- Has Naoko's Disadvantage on TRAIN actions worn off since it only applied for the last turn, or does she still have it? (Hopefully the time at the barracks has given her some time to think.)
- Exactly what is the mechanic for expanding our base? Is it Event-based only?
- What does the public know about our roster? Do they know about us having werewolves and thieves actively fighting crime, and will it potentially affect our Favour?
- Could we potentially request heroes with the right know-how to help out in certain sectors? For example, if Sector II had an Ultratech vehicle they wanted designed and built, could we ask Touma to help out for a bonus?

Well, we now have an in to finding out more about SAD, so we can do that. I could be persuaded to talk to Subaru and find out how she's doing, and I also want to talk to Naoko to see how she's thinking about the last encounter, but Jin seems like the most straightforward choice.

Not much else for this sector to do right now.

We have that design on lock, so let's improve our versatility.

Our Hero roster is maxed out, so if we try SCANning for allies, there's a higher chance we might just get a dud. Unless we can focus our search, I'd rather help out Yukimura and see what the deal is with that organization and his condition.
Then again, there's something to be said for pre-emptive SPINning in case SAD finds out we hired one of the biggest thorns in their side, but it's pretty high now all things considered...

Wow, Falter has a lot on his plate, doesn't he?
As much as I want to get around to whittling down his research list, let's help Subaru get to her next level first, and then we can get a move on. Let's just hope this goes better than the last time Subaru tried training with him...

Sector VI – Medical & Biological Research – Active

If the Codex entry is right, this is the second turn after the incident and all heroes should heal by 1 naturally. If we focus on Subaru, then everyone will be fighting fit by next turn.

If that malus to Naoko's training roll has worn off by this turn, this should be the best option. She's one EXP away from a level-up, it'll help remove her untrained status, and show to her that we were wrong in coddling her. She wants the experience and the encouragement, Odessa should be great in helping her.

I just hope next turn, we can have Yukimura train with Odessa, because I want to see wolf-man be trained by wolf-drill-sergeant.

When you talk with them, and not right now. However, the likelyhood of you finding one or the other depends on how many slots you have open.

Yes.

- Exactly what is the mechanic for expanding our base? Is it Event-based only?

That will be revealed shortly, though you can also acquire Base Enhancements via Researching.

Not a whole lot, no, and yes.

I had not considered that as a mechanic, but I will take it under consideration.

Oh, there were two concerns I had. At the beginning of the Incident we had the option to contact the JSDF, but no corresponding option to not contact them. Since the board doesn't have a mechanism for counting not-votes, that means it would have passed with only one aye vote. Are Extras like that just unambiguously positive (as indeed this one was)? And in future Incidents will the fly in the lotion be that we have to choose which one we pick?

Also! Could there be some sort of divider in the codex between stuff we've built, stuff we're building, and stuff we can build? It's pretty easy to keep track of with the BUILDABLE tag right now, but if we get a big stable of equipment it could get a little unwieldy, and some division could help in keeping track of what's completed and what still needs to be done.

Interaction occasionally gives XP or Advantage on training, so I'm hoping to push Subaru into her next level-up using that. Also, we have not talked with her yet and she just went through the wringer, seems like a chat might be in order.

I'm curious if Heroes we've scanned for are at risk of disappearing (necessitating another scan to find them again) or if we can just let them hang out in the to-be-recruited queue until we've increased our slots. If it's the latter, SCAN is never a wasted action even if our roster is full. That being said Chimera sound like bad guys and I'd rather get advance warning on them. Maybe we can actually find out about a FoE before it blindsides us in an Incident?

I think it was mentioned that HERO recruits remain possibilities until the next Chapter.

@PurpleProse: Are there things we can do to boost odds of success? Cause I'm sure nobody will poke Hierian research unless we know failure is unlikely.

Oh also, another question. Jin Hansou gets a +1 to rolls when engaging alone with a target - is that when it's just him in a Location, or when he's the only one attacking a particular target?

If, for instance, Subaru and he happened to sneak in somewhere together and he engaged a baddie while Subaru completed objectives, would he get the bonus?

The world shifts into a shadowy stage. Leaves rustle overhead as Jin slowly walks down a road in a shadowy, bamboo-strewn forest. He pauses, adjusts his tie, and looks into the camera as the music begins.

"Ninpo," he says as he yanks off his tie. "Swift Change."

There's a rustle of leaves as he vanishes from view. The camera swings left, then right and begins following him. He's a mere shadow darting through the bamboo, leaves rustling in his wake. Light catches briefly on parts of his outfit, glinting on forearm guards and shin guards and pale gray keikogi and pants.

There's a rush as the camera swings past a cliff, which Jin leaps off of, leaving him silhouetted in moonlight. There's a glint of ghostly green light from the half facemask he's wearing, as LEDs hidden underneath light up to obscure the color of his face and hair under his hood. Metal rasps as he produces a sickle from his sleeve, a long length of chain rattling free and swirling around him like smoke.

Fallen leaves spray up as he lands from his leap. He slowly stands and turns to face the camera, looking less like a person and more like a ghost.

"Obakemaru," he announces in a distorted voice, "going forth."

He leaps again, leaving naught but swirling leaves and dust in his wake.

I love these segments.

I'm really hoping that Jin Hansou gives us some good dirt on SAD because they're likely to publicize that we have a murderer, a werewolf who has probably killed people, a thief, and a former delinquent in our ranks. Don't get me wrong; I like everyone we recruited except Jin, and even Jin might have advantages to make up for his disadvantages, but the GM has said that we're likely to lose favor with the public if they know.

One good thing is that we didn't agree to the information exchange so SAD might not know who exactly we recruited. This might change, depending on the UN observer's report and whether SAD has sources in the UN.

Clearly, we must mold Hikaru into the future leader of the HEROES! :D

@Abyssien Chapter changes will eliminate you recruiting certain Heroes and completing certain Research topics, like the autopsy (bodies only last so long). You've still got time before the chapter change, however.

Huh. I had really wanted to research Therianthropy next turn, assuming there's no incident this turn, but it might be a good idea to try researching the alien corpses again. If we do that, then we probably need to spend an action supporting that sector to increase the likelihood of success. I'm really torn on this because researching Therianthropy is important for helping out Yukimura and helps prove to him that we are trying to help him instead of just using him. Plus, I'd been hoping to INTERACT with both Subaru and Naoko next turn.

I think I'll go with Therianthropy and hope that we'll get another chance for research before the end of the chapter. We've only had 2 Incidents so far so I'm guessing that the set number of turns is still far ahead.

Bodies might decay, sure. On the other hand, if I know anything about XCOM, there are always more alien bodies to throw on the heap.
