I think that there is also the fact that we are just barely getting into Industrialization. Sure we have some ideas and are acting on them, but we have a long way to go if we want to print money at will.
Piper is explicitly a political marriage between two families that don't like each other. That's not what we want for rapid industrialization.
No, Harold does not like Franz specifically, we have nothing against the family.

And not having to deal with stepping on toes of our peers on our way of radically changing everything is exactly what we need.

Can't wait for us to start making trains, thats going to be massive boon to our fief and as it spreads, our area will be a central railroad hub bringing in lots of trade.

[X] Lucille Fairsol, the second-youngest child of a Viscount. Byers' Notes: This one would be good for you, I think. She's such a sweetheart, all her friends and servants adore her. I think she'd do a wonderful job of keeping you and yours working at their best. She follows Shallya as well, and with your recent inspiration to their cause that's a great foundation for better things!

[X] Estrella Burke, a distant relation to Lord Governor Burke. Byers' Notes: I hope you can ignore the inconvenient relation. Rest assured, she is second cousin to the Lord Governor and not particularly aligned to him. But Mary has a certain drive to her that reminds me of you and is always talking about economics things I don't understand but you'd probably love.

[X] Nivri Stronrinaid, a Knight in her own right, second of her line, childless and unmarried. Byers' Notes: She has a mind as sharp as yours for mathematics and the like, I'd wager - too bad she keeps running into the most terrible prejudice, being foreign. Yes, yes, she's a bit older and not the most friendly sort, but I think she'd be fascinated by your weird windmill, so that's a starting point.

Nah you're sort of in the upper right-ish of the lower half of the country. The upper half is separated by rough terrain and Mountains tho. I'm going to need to make a proper map of all of Veschwar at some point but I've put it off THIS long.
Hm so not the absolute best place for a railroad hub, but you can't win em all, so it'll have to do.

Well, I say "upper half"

More like "upper 35% by land area, upper 15-20% by wealth/importance/population, particularly to the minds of those in the bottom bit"

Honestly the Duke who controls most of the north is the best candidate for a civil war and the Barons and Knights under him are not as strongly tied together culturally and politically as the rest of the nation is, and the lower nation is Vaguely Suspicious of all of them. They serve as a shield against the horse raider Mongol analogues and this severely affects their prospects and culture, I think I made a point of it actually how Nesiwald is largely Fescalt peasantry, in ancestry? Your own mother explicitly thinks that if anyone betrays the King, it'll be the Duke of Fescalt (that being the ruler of the northern area in question).

Is this supposed to say Estrella instead of Mary in the last sentence?

As cool as steelmaking would be, I think bricks and cement are an easy way to make a lot of people's lives better.

The Bessemer Process requires 25+ codex successes, or a total codex roll of 375+.

An average 1d100 codex roll would be 50 +18 = 68 = 4 successes (@Rockeye that right?).
So we'd need 7 average rolls to complete it.

If voters really want to research the Bessemer Process, then don't half-ass it.
At least vote for [] Bessemer Process x2.
Otherwise it'll take far too long.

Franz is the heir, and so a dislike of him is effectively a dislike of the family in the near-future unless he suffers an unfortunate accident. And we'll be stepping on those toes anyway, with her we'll have forewarning and a bit of cushioning but it'll still happen.

Otherwise it'll take far too long.
I'm going for beekeeping now because it should be a cheap source of income with minimal investment, and we likely won't have the money to set up the equipment within the ~4 turns it'd take to complete at x2, but should in ~6 once beekeeping (and possibly a 2nd short-term investment if we get a good one) is complete.
