I think it's like that because I felt like I was reading author's other novel HSSBrother when I was reading the last few chapters.Not that I find it bad.I love both.
I just realize something, since the mc In the quest realize the existence of the system he should also realize certain behavior is rewarded more than others.

Why would anybody gamble their life by not taking the world seriously? He could just be side villain number 12 that gets killed off in some tournament.

The point he's making is that the system (and possibly the world itself) awards not taking life seriously, with seriously being gravitas and pragmatism rather than honor and face. Because this award impacts his likelihood of survival and standard of living, he is thus taking life seriously by seemingly not taking it seriously.
