[X] Yes- You wanna cut your teeth on this already. (Go through a tutorial/feedback session with the combat system as it stands, so we can all see what works and what doesn't. Also, the opportunity to Ping() Dove in the nuts, if that's any motivation.)

Ping() Dove in the nuts is my entire motivation for this, fuck that guy.

We are up against Dove of all people. There is no world where we conceivably lose against one of the worst fighters in Beacon.

I feel like things are sufficiently AU that we shouldn't discount the potential of people we haven't actually gotten the measure of yet.

That being said

[X] Yes

I mostly want to see how we try to slip in a nut shot without getting detention, because this is literally one of the rules that was just talked about.

[X] No- Eh… You had a loooooong night. You honestly don't mind just kinda zoning out until lunch. (Skip tutorial, move on to spending your lunch period picking apart the Process.)

@Prok Not gonna lie, while the interlude was indeed well written. 4 back to back interludes spaced over months kinda just made me more eager to go back to Jaune's PoV over properly appreciating the new interludes.

I have no problem with you writing David's story. But maybe just put it in Sidestories rather than main threadmark Interludes.

Because, as you've already said. David's story has nothing to do with Jaune's. At least the rest of the interludes are connected to the overarching plot.

I feel like it'd be better off as a canon-sidestory series rather than putting it in the main thread marks when there's no overlap.
Being absolutely fair to myself here, that 2-month gap between the Salem interlude and the mine interlude, were it not for real life so rudely banging down my door, should have been closer to two weeks. I won't say 4 interludes in a row that slowly became less and less connected to the main story was always going to be a winning strategy, but I heavily doubt it would have been as bad without that delay.

Besides that, yeah, sidestory tab would be best, I think. On the bright side, it's definitely not going to be full-quest length, by any means. Five, six updates, tops, that's all I ever planned to write for it.

Technically, she never said dirty shots were illegal, just that making them personal was.

Anyway, uh, normally I'd let the votes run for another day or so, but the ayes overwhelmingly have it- getting up on that stage and going through the tutorial/giving me feedback on the combat system before I seriously have to put it to use wins!

I don't think we're gonna be fishing for the cup check or anything but if the man leaves himself open then mama said knock you out.

Better he learn to block those when it's us doing it with non-lethal force instead of him finding out there's a gap in his stance when a Lancer Queen exploits it.

So as long as we don't advertise that it's definitely personal we'll be fine? :V

I actually imagined a situation where we set off a spray of Pings that look like a random spread, but are actually a set up to hit him in the nuts, and figured that had a decent chance of being voted for regardless of feasibility or wiseness.

... ah, missed the vote.

Ah, well. Was gonna vote no, but I'm honestly not exactly heartbroken, combat is usually pretty fun in this quest and it's probably for the best to test out the new combat system in a spar instead of in a major fight anyways.

Yesss first you share dresser, you already share a room, eventually its a house and then all four of you have a few children you're raising and wondering when you all became common law married.

Pfft.

Prok: "y'all want romance? Fine, here's a giant mess of options, have fun fighting over them."

Readers: "did someone say "polycule"? Because I'm hearing "polycule"!"

EDIT: in regards to David's story: I loved it, and am eagerly awaiting the next part of it, but yeah that *is* somewhat what the "Sidestories" threadmark tab is for.

Ill be honest I just love reading your writing
hell yeah gimme that mine stuff I'll read the hell out of anything you post
I didn't get to leave this earlier but I really liked how you deliberately DIDN'T specify what kind of faunus David was in narration until the clerk lady (I'll just call her Ms pauling for now) explained it to Gaier. Really slick move that.

I also really liked the Glynda bit. her going full drill seargeant right off the bat to stamp down on any tomfoolery feels about right when it's a class of teens with guns. I suppose this also nips the thing of "Jaune keeps getting paired with Cardin" that I hear happened in the show proper (I never watched it and never will)

To be honest, I actually liked the mine interlude more than any of the other interludes so far, even with how disconnected it was.

Regarding where to put the Miner Gaiden quest, if it's going to be preventing you from writing the mainline quest anyway, I'd recommend you keep it in-thread, without moving any of the interludes or the Gaiden updates out of the main threadmarks. If it's going to have as large of an effect on Jaune's side of things by the end as you've implied, it's probably best to keep it somewhere where people catching up on the quest can find it easily. Moving it to Sidestory would just create confusion.

You give me the opportunity to hit Dove in the nuts and I am taking it 10 times out of 10.

I'm just popping up from lurking here to say I cannot wait to see how you've got this combat system set up. Also, your style of writing continues to be strangely familiar to me, and overall quite pleasant. Thank you for your efforts, both so far and continuing onwards.

Edit: I forgot to put in my vote, because an eleven hour shift does not a cogent thinker maker.

Okay, so, I haven't actually fully caught up but... Will the events of Grimm Eclipse happen? I think that's canon, and I do kind of feel like Merlot might make an interesting foe for Jaune specifically. Granted, that's like inbetween Volumes 2 & 3, and we're still at Volume 1 timewise right?

Also, entirely different question, is this gonna be a "One Waifu Only" kind of quest? Fundamentally I don't mind, but my goodness so many Best Girls... that and I do think polyamory could do with more positive representation, but like... I just wanna know if a "shipping war" is gonna be a thing, or if "why not [X]?", cause I don't wanna get caught up in a shipping war.

I think Prok has said that there isn't going to be a romantic relationship, period.

I thought he was definitely open to the idea of Jaune getting into a relationship, he was just going to sidetrack the questers by throwing so many Best Girls at us that we tear each other apart instead of actually committing to any one of them.

Okay, one, I wasn't trying to do a whole thing so I just wanted to clarify that. Though second, besides the obvious logical issues that make it rather difficult at times, I feel like we could probably justify multiple Best Girls depending on their disposition and opinions of the others crushing on Jaune. I just personally don't like the "Monogamy is the one and only true path" stance, like I really don't mind in general- I'm just wondering if we're only fundamentally allowed one romance option.

If anything it's going to be a bunch of people all dating Jaune, not Jaune dating a bunch of people.

Jaune is probably dense enough to miss romantic interest entirely. He's definitely completely missed Lumen thinking unclean thoughts but I'll give him a pass on that because Semblance Disconnect and ded Transistor.
