Also are we allowed to buy upgrades if we do the electronics palace job? In the grand scheme of things its probably cheaper for her to pay us in stuff than it is in straight lien.

Also @Prok how much, if any, of the stuff revealed in Volume 6 is canon to the quest. It's the best volume so far (although the dumpster fire that was volume 5 might be making it look better) so I'd personally like some of it to be canon, especially since there's been nothing to contradict it as far as I can tell in this quest yet.


Also, was this one of the RWBY quests where Dust is running out? Its been ages since I've read through the whole thing so little details like that get mixed up with other quests.

Hmmm, I agree with everything else (although you forgot to put an X in the Creme option, and I feel tactics would be more important, but I'm willing to accept swordsmanship training instead), but the possibility of Grimm interference and discovery by the government make the bedrock assimilation option a bit risky to me.

I mean, I get that the PA option is also a bit risky due to the whole 'impressionable super-AI being exposed to all these people' thing, but that potential issue is a lot more easy to fix and proactively handle than 'oh shit we're attracting all these Grimm because we're assimilating the bedrock and now the process has been discovered and they're asking some very pointed questions'. Bedrock assimilation sounds like a very high risk-reward option here, and if the dice hit that risk marker, there isn't much we can do to really fix it. Could you switch to the PA option?

An obvious pick if we're going with the Personal Assistants route of spreading the Mesh. I just hope this won't result in any lawsuit shenanigans down the line from people accusing us of stealing their ideas. Probably won't though, since the Process is so closely tied to Jaune specifically.

I was going to vote for Hyper Arcade because I like the storyline of redeeming the company making shovelware by helping them create high-quality products instead, but since this is the last week before Beacon, I don't think we should leave any one of our friends hanging out of their solo time with Jaune. Besides, de-stressing sounds good.

I considered it, but I'd really like the Process to have at least a little more life experience before we set the internet hoards loose upon it. Plus, having some PA design experience already done before starting seems likely to improve the quality of our initial offering when we start the Process PA program.

Yeah, uh, funny story- I can't actually watch volume 6. Ruby's voice sets off my tinnitus.

I honestly can't listen to Lindsay Jones as Ruby for more than thirty seconds at a time, or it sets off an absolutely horrid ringing in my ears, regardless of volume. I'd basically have to watch the entire thing muted, with subtitles on, and I'd rather not see what life's gonna be like for me when I eventually lose my hearing.

But yeah I've kinda heard about it secondhand, and based on what I've heard, RT ripped off Mask of The Betrayer, incompetently at that. Aside from that, I heard a bunch of other stuff that sounds interesting enough to put in, I'd just need to bite the bullet and watch the series for myself.

This one is close to entering beta.

Using Functions stuck in Beta is always a gamble. You might heal somebody. You may create an ultracancer beam.

You don't know, and do you really wanna roll those particular bones in a stressful situation?

Yeah, this is basically the problem. Now, being fair, those people are vastly outnumbered by the people who just, you know, use it as intended, but they're still out there, alongside the people who run tech destruction channels and things in that vein.

I imagine when it eventually comes out that the Process is a thinking, feeling creature with its own agency, that would stop being a problem for the most part, not to mention any kind of Cell assistant would have the personality of a talking puppy.

And, again, the numbers are not gospel- take them as you would the weather forecast.

Seriously though, as tempting as it is to bring something like that up, it does fall just a teensy bit too close to the personal assistant option to just shoehorn in out of authorial fiat. Maybe in a later vote I'll bring it up as a possible option.

Agreed, V5's only real criticism is having an uninteresting penultimate fight scene. Not enough work went into animating the big multiperson brawl. Granted that was probably time spent to make the one-on-one fight at the very end all the more impressive, but still...

I am not a fan of the underground takeover. While it would be very efficient, it has some truly disastrous failure states.

Still trying to figure out what I actually do want to vote for though. I definitely want to call Weiss though, because that's almost guaranteed to be fun to read.

@Prok if we do the AI assistants job, will it help us with the Process assistants even if we do both at the same time? Are there any potential legal issues due to the conflict of interest?

i'm suspecting he's with Atlas. We don't know him but he knows us and he was trying to remember Vale custom while confuising it with Vacuo.

My bet is that he's a tech weenie affiliated with Penny's dad and one of the people Ironwood ran Blue's claims by to make sure they weren't bull.

I can see so many ways to potentially spin the underground Process if we can keep it a secret for less than a year.

Keep in mind- we know Ironwood, and while he sure as hell doesn't personally like us he's also likely as not going to be given charge of the defenses for the Vytal festival. Him taking credit for the actual deployment of Processed units, or the presence of Process substrate would be significantly less egregious than us.

As for the PA... how badly do people consider the reaction to knowing their Iphone equivalents could murder them at any time at the request of their manufacturer. That's can be spun as being incredibly sinister. At least if the bedrock is discovered it's a strange phenomenon rather than a shady electronics company apparently taking a page out of comic books for world domination. We are right now a mostly soft and squishy math wizard who has yet to get his quadratic solutions, what happens when the guy who sold/provided the PDAs that grew guns drew attention? When we're at the very least, on two different Atlesian watch lists! I mean come on, let's stop being overly optimistic about the PDAs while assuming people are going to rapidly discover Processed Bedrock.
