New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

So, from the options it looks like we've got:

[ ] Sever the Bright Strands of Fate
Gain a single invincible killing blow against another Nascent Soul.

[ ] Blind the Eyes of the Wrathful Watchman
Gain a guaranteed second Nascent Soul.

[ ] The Truth of the Two Paths
Knowledge of the origin of Blood/Demonic Path. We've gotten various glimpse that Soup Chef had a deeper reason to rebel against the Heavens, and it would be most relevant in understanding the current state of affairs (Cloud Demon Cave, Altar Lord's ideals, etc).

[ ] The Moment of Despair
Knowledge of how the Sea-Conquering Army was defeated and their gradual decline.

[ ] The Beginning
Knowledge of the origin of Heaven's Shadow and the initial invasion by the SCA.

My preliminary gut feeling is to go for the 2nd Nascent, it brings much more guaranteed long-term stability, whereas killing another Nascent Soul like Jingshen would still have uncertain variables, since we'd have to commit to conquering their lands after such a provocation, for example.

For the knowledge lore, I'm inclined to go for how the SCA got defeated, but the origin of their invasion of the Turtle World in the beginning also piques my interest.

Gaining a second Nascent improves our position relative to all of our enemies not just one of them like killing a Nascent soul would. It also avoids immediately kicking off a conflict.

Yeah, looking at this, it's a choice between "Not only do you instant kill one Nascent Soul, but you do it and utterly negate any contingencies or plans or spite actions they might otherwise employ in their death throes. It's just straight up Balefire" or "Get an Early Nascent Soul without any chance of failure"

They're both staggeringly powerful strategic boons.

The other options then are a piece of the Deep Lore. Here are my speculations.

[ ] The Truth of the Two Paths
Something to do with Cultivation in itself, whether it's speaking about Soup Chef's Plan or if it's something to do with the Heavenly Stars or something the SCA did, we don't know. Either way, this likely is more flavor than anything else. Might have something to do with that Threefold Revival thing that Manuel namedropped that got the Altar Lord's attention?

[ ] The Moment of Despair
The precise moment the SCA made their big play--and provoke Heaven to go absolutely wild. Tells us what--exactly--the SCA actually did to start the curses, what it was they did that was so far beyond the invasion that the Heavens stopped being Emotionless and lashed out like a wounded animal.

[ ] The Beginning
What the SCA was trying to accomplish in the first place before they came in here.

Given the Moment of Despair and The Beginning are both potentially critical pieces of information, The Truth of the Two Paths is probably a revelation on a similar scale. Notably, each of these routes? Manuel learns them ICly, so they're going to inform his actions going forward.

I'm legitimately torn.

This seems better than "just" getting another Nascent Soul. Even one with connection to the Shadow like Manuel.

Though I guess getting another NS is good for the long term if we survive the antagonism of that Spirit Severing dude.

What spirit severing dude?

Spirit Severing walking in is just straight up Game Over. Bhigru himself is going to be a bit too busy dealing with the consequences of him fucking with the system to jump on us too soon either.

But yeah, we can't discount the sheer absurdity that is having a "Villain B Gone" button. It's fucking Balefire is what it is, and the mere threat of it is enough to alter geopolitics considerably, since we can afford to provoke something that would normally eat us, because we have the ability to just remove their biggest deterrent from the table in a "No save, just die" moment.

But that being said, in the end, your strategic power is absolutely in the number of Nascent Souls you field, and getting up to two is...

Well.

Depending on how much we can conceal the tribulation, we might be able to mousetrap Jingshen by leaking the existence of us preparing for Tribulation and where it is, bait them into crossing the border to stop us, and then ganging up on them in an ironic reversal of their original plan.

To be frank, I prefer simplification of options.

And we need to engage in far less convoluted silliness if we have 3 Nascent Souls on hand before Yaos treaty with us expires.

If we go that route, theres no need for some big overarching scheme

We can just do a Clan focus "economic strangulation" of the Jingshen next turn, and that gives us a full turn to push them into a downward spiral.

Three Nascents isnt something the Jingshen can overcome in an offensive war. Therefore they wont dare.

And in the meantime we'll make a ton of progress on taking a bite out of their ability to raise a third one themselves.

Not to mention what it allows us for dealing with the Bees.

Its simply winning. As for Lore, the long term view likes the idea of rediscovering Lore related to post-Nascent Soul realms. The short term view favors the nature of what the SCA did to piss the Heavens off so badly, since that's undoubtedly information we can leverage in the future.

Whereas the lore nerd in me just wants to know what it was all for in the first place

Yeah, as much as a "Delete Threat" button appeals to me, getting our second Nascent Soul online before our deal with Yao expires is potentially what we need to reduce the Jingshen to Small Power status and remove them from being a serious concern. From there, we can figure out how to handle Old Cannibal.

Anyway, I'm going to take a minute to see how the Mission Layout is going--remember! For best effect, we ideally want a balance of people going to each Mission, unless people are trying to Aid the Clan!

Thousand Song Siege
Qi Condensation: Abel Angelus, Maria, The Builder,
Foundation Establishment: Rina Callista, Zeno Angelus EDIT: Aliki Floros (AtC)

Hong Xuan Debt
Qi Condensation: Gaius Antonius, Lipita Delphi
Foundation Establishment: Amaranth Castellanos, Antonius Emmanuel Eleanora, Demetrius Ceres, Jin Muyi, Xiyuing Ten Jiang, ,

Joie de Banditsme
Qi Condensation: Cao Wei, Ulysses
Foundation Establishment: Diomedes Cestus, Juturna Cerintha, Mildgyð Galene, Minervina Barda, Ninth Prince, Savvas Nicolidis, Xiao Yingzi

RESULTS:

Thousand Song Siege is horrifyingly undermanned for the FE bracket, Qi Condensation bracket is fairly balanced across all.

2 3 FE in TSS, 5 FE in Hong Xuan Debt, 7 FE in Joie de Banditsme.

Oh boy. This seems like it'd be a Triumph in Banditsme paid for with a Disaster in Thousand Song Siege... Then again, now that I have Rina committed with an Early Fate and a storyline drawn up for her... Hmmm...

Yeah, having Aliki go there to Do Aliki Things might be entertaining. Also nightmarish, but entertaining, I'll go for it!
On phone but you can put Wei Feng down for Thousand Song if we're that undermanned.

Also I have no idea what the first option does.

With the power to guaranteed insta-kill any other Nascent Soul in our hands, we can bargain with the Demonic Alliance to help them kill the Strength Purity Sect's leader, or alternatively bargain with the Virtuous Alliance to help them kill off the Demonic Altar Sect's leader.

With some astute negotiation, this could yield us advantages and treasures far more potent and valuable than even adding a second Nascent Soul to our ranks.

[X] Blind the Eyes of the Wrathful Watchman
[X] The Truth of the Two Paths

All of these answer questions I've long had about the setting, I just rolled a d3 to decide which one to vote for.

With some astute negotiation,
You mean attempted blackmail

That's the kind of card people will move to kill us just for the mere threat it represents on the off chance we can replicate it for ourselves at a later time

Let's not try and rely on having our cake and eating it too here

This I like. Getting the Altar Lord to help us out in exchange for the Wei Princess's death sounds good to me.

Not a chance.

You can't bargain using something like this, because we're not strong enough to use this as a threat.

"Oh hey, I can bag one of your leaders"

"That's great, have fun fighting a few of our junior Early Nascents at once until you do what we want you to do or use it and thus lose your shield"

A lance like this is a weapon of surprise, not a weapon to use to bargain terms with. It's an assassin's dagger, not a nuclear bomb.

The Seven Divine Saber Palace has only one nascent soul elder.

Given how Elder Day has not been paying Yao like he was supposed to after his betrayal it might be best to go visit him and trade some pointers.

His death will show that standing against the Golden Devil's is courting death.

Also as an enemy there is probably a good chance he would join in the murder our clan and at last remove the loss of face us being the imperial protectors is for his sect.

We can't wipe the Saber Palace out--nor should we--because their core is still protected by Severing Will, and that's not something anything in the Sea can reliably breach.

And then we use it on the Alter Lord and his early nascent souls descend into civil war and don't bother attacking us.

The Alter Lord is not stupid like the other blood path nascents, we know this already.

The idea has merit , but only once we have enough nascents to match a regional force.
before that they outnumber us enough that we can be forced to use it without either altar lord or princess face puncher being near .
Presumbly this is not an unlimited range weapon.

Now if we still have it after we conquer the desert and reach whatever our new nascent cap would be ?
Then with this, we could be considered the equal of any great power even without a late .
