New Good Seed and Omake Rule Updates
Good Seed and Omake Spreadsheet Rules:

Firstly, if you have questions about Good Seeds and the like please read here. If that doesn't answer your question please ping me in thread, or on Discord.

If you write a new Good Seed, or write an omake, please update the spreadsheet if you have access.

If you do not have access, please ping a collaborator (Swordomatic, Alectai, Quest, TehChron, Insane-Not-Crazy, Humbaba, ReaderOfFate, Kaboomatic, no., BungieONI) letting them know what you want and they will update the spreadsheet here. To gain access, you will need a gmail account of some kind. Throwaway emails are fine (I'm using one for the spreadsheet), but to gain access it's as simple as sending me either your email via PM, via DM in Discord, or just in Discord's #spreadsheet-requests channel.

This is mandatory. If a Good Seed does not record their omake by pinging collabs (or just requesting access and editing things themselves - this is the preferred option), I won't give out awards. If a new Good Seed is not recorded here, they won't advance. By doing this it makes the whole thing manageable for me - it's gotten pretty unwieldy!

-----------------------

Omake Writer Instructions:

There are four fields you need to fill out.

Omake Link, which is just a link to your first omake for the turn. This makes it easier for me to read them as I do the update - without this it's tough to know off the bat which omake were written this turn, and to properly

Requested Bonus, which is your requested bonus for your omake. You can leave it up to me if you like. You can see more info in the Good Seed infopost here.

Cultivation Aims. For those following unorthodox paths - higher than 9th Heavenstage or later than 7th Dao Pillar paths. Please put in what you are aiming for before you break through. I have left it as 'default'. If you do not edit it, I'll go with that.

Turn Notes - Do you want to do something specific? Enter a Secret Realm? Help the Clan out in some way? If you have something specific you want to accomplish on this turn, put it in turn notes so I can adjust your Fate around it.

All other fields are for QM use to record character information to properly run the flow of the game.

Are we limited to one good seed for poster or can we make more as long as it isnt excessive.

One per poster for the moment.

I don't want to be flooded with Good Seeds people generate off-hand and throw away.

I'll probably make an exception for people writing more omake - because they've shown they're committed to their characters and aren't just generating more and more random characters for me to have to roll and write stuff about.

Good Seeds
Good Seed Rules (Scroll down further for an explanation of what Good Seeds are)

Creating Good Seeds

(1) Maximum 1 Good Seed per player

(2) They start at the 1st Heavenstage of Qi Gathering. See here for more information.

(3) Choose one cool bonus they have.

(4) Post in thread and ping me so I can find it to threadmark.

Writing Omake, Bonuses, Doing Crazy Stuff

(1) Write Omake, post it in thread. Ping me so I see it and know to threadmark it.

(2) Choose 1 Bonus Max for completing an Omake per turn. More and better Omake per turn add to your Fate roll.

(3) Edit Bonus requests into your Good Seed Background (the post you make detailing who they are) to make it easy for me to find each turn.

(4) If you want to do something crazy and impactful, edit it into to your Good Seed Background (eg 'Rina Callista is trying to ascend to the 11th Heavenstage of Qi Condensation') so I can roll for it.

(5) You can also spend (a minimum of 10) Impact to have an impact on the main story. Read more here

Fate and Cultivation

(1) 1 Cultivation roll, 1 Fate roll per turn.

(2) You can die. Fate can kill you. It can also grant you cultivation boosts, combat boosts, treasures, etc, etc.

(3) I give out cultivation speed each turn, this is subject to rolls and your Omake bonuses. It's the one thing you absolutely can't decide for yourself.

Secret Realms:

You can enter Secret Realms whenever you want - edit your Good Seed page to let me know.

Bear in mind that they are dangerous, and without a Lifesaving Treasure you are likely to die. Secret Realms are a series of amped-up Fate Rolls, where the extremes are more extreme. Wounds, crippling, incredibly treasures, jumping stages... these are all possible. But the risk is just as real as the reward.

--------------

Bonuses:

Cool Thing -
Generic as hell. Want a cool treasure? Your bloodline improved? To invent your own new cultivation technique? As a rule, Cool Things help improve your Combat Strength relative to your peers in the same Realm. Basically: does it make your Good Seed more powerful in some way but doesn't increase their cultivation? It's a Cool Thing. You don't need to ask me if you can have a Cool Thing. If you want a Cool Thing, just write an omake with the Cool Thing in it. If I think it's too much, I'll tell you. If you want me to decide, just ask for a Cool Thing bonus.

Cultivation Boost - Boost your cultivation speed this turn. Usually by roughly 10 years worth of cultivation.

Lifesaving Treasure - A magical Treasure, Pill, sliver of an older Cultivator's will, etc. Can save your life from a disastrous Fate roll once. I will note who has Lifesaving Treasures and who doesn't. If you get a bad roll and have no Lifesaving Treasure, I will kill off your Good Seed. Even if you're an amazing Omake writer. Even if I think you're a top contributor to the thread. Even if we're best friends!

Tribulation Boost - Maybe a Treasure. Maybe a better understanding of your Dao. If you're looking to break through a Great Realm, a Tribulation Boost isn't a must, but it's certainly very, very nice to have.

Lifespan Boost - Is your Good Seed too slow? Not able to break through? Bad luck each turn, or maybe suffered crippling and gone back a few small realms? Maybe you just want to perfect your foundation and want more time. You can get a Lifespan Boost of 40 years! 2 more turns to keep trying!

Fighting Across Realms - Want to be able to do something cool as a one-off? Fighting Across Realms grants you some kind of consumable, allowing you to fight someone a full great realm above you as a one-off. Victory or defeat will be up to Fate, of course. It'll also allow you to beat anyone in the same great realm as a one-off, hands down, no Fate required.
------------

What Are Good Seeds?

Ordinarily, I'll just generate characters and the like for your Sect or Clan.

However, each poster has the option to generate a Good Seed.

Essentially, you can write up a character who will be one of the top talents in the Sect or Clan. Bear in mind that our Elder Manuel will only ever interact with top talents - this is why they come to his attention.

Each poster can generate maximum one Good Seed - A Good Seed gets one special bonus decided by the poster - Celestial Talent, Resilient Will, Lucky Inheritance, Magical Bloodline, Karmic Luck, whatever (there's no specific list as such, but really just pick one cool thing and I'll run with it. Power-wise I'll treat every bonus as roughly equivalent).

Good Seeds can be accelerated in power through (you guessed it!) writing Omake to describe their trials and tribulations. Please use the Cultivation Age Guide to see how cultivation works.

All new Good Seeds start at the 1st Heavenstage of Qi Gathering

They still might die, though, and are extremely unlikely to advance to Nascent Soul (there's only so much talent to go around!). But if they die, well, you can generate another one! They're not crucial for the operating of this quest, but if you want to write a character and see what happens to them, you'll be able to make a Good Seed once the Sect/Clan is finished.

To put in a Good Seed, the steps are simple.

(1) Write a background

(2) Post it in the thread for approval.

(3) Once I approve it I'll threadmark it, and let you know it's approved.

(4) Future Omake get threadmarked under your character (marked with the Turn they are written in, as well as a title either written by you or assigned by me) so you can simply hit Reader Mode and read through each character's story, one at a time.

Gameplay is easier. Behind the scenes each Turn each Good Seed gets a roll on a D100, representing their Fate. Lower rolls mean injury, crippling, or even death (though even a 1 won't kill a well-prepared Good Seed who has no injuries). Higher rolls mean better cultivation, heavenly treasures, hidden techniques as inheritances, and more.

You can also negate (some) lower rolls or get an extra bonus by writing Omake. Omake has only one requirement - write from the perspective (third person, second, first, whatever) of your Good Seed doing something. Training? Cultivating? Combat? Drinking tea? I don't care.

Lastly, you can post what your Good Seed is focusing on. Hunting treasures? Raiding enemies? Training a unit of friendly Cultivators?

After each Turn, I'll post a really, really short overview.

It'll look like this.

Rina Callista. Cultivated from 2nd Heavenstage of Qi Condensation to 8th Heavenstage. Encountered Heavenly Treasure of some kind. Forged a new Array to protect a city in Xin Kingdom.

I'll give Good Seed players a small amount of information to go off (how powerful you are, did you get anything super good or bad, how did you do at the goal you posted in the thread), but outside of that you can write whatever you feel like, and as often as you feel like. Want to write a 300-word omake every 10 turns? No worries. Don't want to write Omake at all, but just want to write up a guy and see how he does in the Quest? That's fine too! Feel like writing half a light novel? Absolutely fine.

Obviously, better Omake yield more bonuses. If you write a 10,000 word mini-novel you'll get substantially more out of it than a 300-word vignette, which I think is fair.

Now then, with that aside.

[X] Plan: Rebuild what was Lost
-[X] Hold Party - Invite your vassals and territorial allies to a celebration of your breakthrough. This demonstrates your power and will invite major gifts as various powers in your territory jockey for your favour. It will cause some minor discontent, though, and take up a few months of valuable cultivating time.
--While frivolous to some extent, a regular reminder that our Clan still stands, and still has a strong Nascent Soul securing the fort goes a long way towards reminding our neighbors not to cause us trouble and to reconsider any thoughts of reneging on their oaths. While regrettable, it remains the nature of the world that an iron fist averts as many problems as good governance does.
-[X] Building Bridges (Oasis Rebels)
--A minor power, and yet they are drawing the attention of the Battle Blood Cannibal Sect--this is a matter of pride for those beasts, so they are likely to divert forces from their raiding of us to solve this problem, and the more intractable a problem it is? The more of the pressure is reduced on us, granting us time to lick our wounds and retrench. Discreet economic and intelligence support should allow them to graduate from a minor thorn into a gouging burr in the side of our foes, while limiting the Battle Blood Cannibals ability to efficiently feed off of them.
-[X] Lecturing - You can simply lecture your many juniors on cultivation. Spend your time helping them grow, using less resources and ensuring better growth for the Clan.
--The Clan's future is in the young, those who have suffered the calamities of our foes one and all. While we externally appear to be doing the rounds, spending the opportunities of this profession to foster the growth of the new generation will pay dividends in the end.

Telios Treces [DEAD] - Good Seed Background
Not sure if I am allowed as I haven't yet posted but I do want to provide a good seed idea so going ahead with it.

My good seed

Telios Treces

Telios Treces was an unlucky child as he was born to his parents in the time right before the Century Harvest and as such was raised in a timeframe in which the threat of death loomed larger than ever for the clan. This was in some ways prophetic of his life in that during the attack he lost not only his direct parents, but every single relative closer than a second cousin. Instead of allowing himself to be consumed by hatred and other such emotions he turned to his work and began to search for the reason behind it all, he listened to elders ramble whenever possible, he cross referenced books and more. Everything for years was dedicated to discovering the reason behind the tribulations of the clan and why his family was so devastated.

When he discovered the reasons or at least the ones that he could manage to find, he found himself for the first time truly feeling the emotions of hatred and anger. Once more however, he refused to fall to what he saw as the level of those that brought ruin to his family and people. Instead of falling into such a trap he directed his hatred and anger towards the power that caused everything, to him Heaven became the source of his pain and anger and in that moment he swore to understand Heaven itself in order to rip it asunder and forge a new order above all.

As he was forced into the military training of the clan he pushed himself beyond the others, when he lost he pushed himself further for there could be no weakness for his mission to succeed. He spent every single waking hour working on his skills and pushing further ahead whenever possible, begging for tips and pointers from those that bore natural talent in their fields of excellence, he made their skills his own through hard work and determination. Every single day, an opportunity to push himself further ahead and towards his final goal.

When guests arrived he would ask for their tips and combine them with what he already had if at all possible. He consumed knowledge of every field and area of study that he could fine, to refine his personal skills and push himself further along. He cared not for where a person was or what their job was, for everything that was known or done could aid him in his final goal.

Even the beasts of the world he worked to understand and how they functioned, for they too were under Heaven's grip of domination and so they must too be freed in the end. Refusing to wait as long as normal for his time to cultivate he eavesdropped on those higher than him to learn the secrets and began to ascend the ranks at a mere 14 years of age instead of the normal 16, and once more pushed himself further than the others. Where they spend two thirds of the day cultivating, he went beyond and allocated almost the entire day towards increasing his skills in all fields. Spending the normal or more time working on his cultivation and yet not neglecting his other skills.

In the end his efforts had payed off with the epiphany he had while cultivating one day, when he was the age of 17, he saw and understood for a single instant a profound secret and grasped it in his heart. While his mind could not comprehend the knowledge, he knew without a doubt that he was on the correct path and the collection of knowledge that he had so viciously pursued and yet remained unconnected to the whole, catalyzed into a new understanding. From then on he followed the path that he had began all those years ago when he had been only six years of age and now he had found the path to walk.

-----------
In summary, he has created/developed a personal skill that allows him to combine elements of other skills that he learns from others. This effect scales in proportion to the one teaching the skill, IE a natural body cultivator would provide a much higher bonus for him than a more normal person. However, he can also hybridize his own skills as well once he understands them well enough.

He also uses Qi, spirit stones and Beast cultivation paths if possible anyway

Heavenstep end point: 13th stage, before break through

List of Upgrades gained
Personal Skill: Unity of Knowledge: Able to merge skills no matter how distant their applications into a hybrid form that has elements of both base skills used in the creation of th hybrid

If we plan any offensive actions in the short term, I say we hold off on the party.

If we do go for the party, focusing on increasing our bonds with an ally would probably be needed to ensure our bonds stay strong.

On personal actions, maybe Lecturing? Not sure what I prefer here.

Edit add vote: this works for me.

Posting Good Seeds is 100% fine. If you just want to let other posters do plans and votes and just write up a guy with the occasional omake, that's completely fine. Conversely, if you have no interested in Good Seeds and want to just plot and plan, also fine.

Just interact with the quest in whatever way you feel comfortable.

Does Talent in being a sword cultivator part of celestial talent or its own kind of bonus?

[X] Plan: Rebuild what was Lost

Also Occipitallobe would you be willing to make a list of Good Seeds and their general information as an Informational sheet that anyone can see and watch?

At the moment I'm just using threadmarks to keep track of them. I might create a single post at the top with a list of Good Seeds, their current cultivation levels, skills, treasures, etc, though I'm not sure if I will. There'll be notes on each Good Seed as each turn passes anyway.

Does Talent in being a sword cultivator part of celestial talent or its own kind of bonus?

Basically, very broadly, every Good Seed starts with One Cool Thing. The Ninth Prince is a really talented Beast Tamer. Rina Callista is a very stronk petite girl. Telios Treces is a jack of all trades.

Generally speaking, I'll treat every talent for each Good Seed as equally good. So if you want to be an amazing Sword Cultivator, you can write it in as your starting One Cool Thing - or you can encounter a fortuitous Sword Cultivation encounter of some kind (ancient inheritance? personal epiphany? whatever!) in an Omake and have it be a Bonus.

@occipitallobe can Good Seeds be the children/grandchildren/etc of named characters such as the elders? (Was also going to ask about Manuel's children, but realised they don't exist...)

Build up wealth and power to increase our espionage arm. If we do things right and decapitate the middle leadership of the Cannibal Sect, they will fall into infighting for a while and we get more breathing room.
