Hereafter [Worm x Fate/Grand Order]

If this is Mara this crossover just got a fuck ton more complicated in so many different ways. And no the name isn't spoilered because if it is Mara the only character in this fic that would recognize her is Taylor. Still she is fucked up enough to serve as M instead of the canon character for this singularity.

It's more like "modern to you".

We ain't gonna summon him, and future folks (like the folks in Extra) can.
And from what I can understand, its not a complete "no, impossible", its more akin to a "cosmically unlikely scenario". Any modern Servant could technically be summoned here and the now, but it would take insane luck, and it wouldn't really even be worth it 99% of the time.
Generally my experience with the rule is people treating it as straight up impossible, and that was the assumption I was referring to, since I thought that's what other people were talking about. And, like, yeah, of course it's not going to be easy--and nowhere did I say that it would be. Only that people like Neil are summonable at all, even if it requires an extremely lucky coincidence (such as Archer's catalyst being Rin's jewel pendant, and Rin just so happening to have it on her while summoning at the wrong time of night) for it to happen.

If people were referring to something else when talking about the modernity rule, then that's my mistake. But I'm not wrong in saying that it isn't impossible to summon modern servants. It's very unlikely, but not impossible.

Edit:
When did we fight Mephistopheles?
That happened off-screen, back when Taylor was still benched from going outside so the twins had to do some parts themselves. It was when they found Fran after going to check on Frankenstein, iirc? I'd have to find the specific chapter again to double check, but I'm pretty sure that was it.

Wasn't the one who did that the fake Jack the Ripper?
No. When the twins and Mash went to check on Frankenstein, things went basically as they did in canon with essentially no changes, which is why I didn't see a need to show it, only the aftermath. The "fake" Jack thing happened after "recruiting" Nagato and Nursery Rhyme, and happened concurrently with Taylor adopting best daughter.

Speaking of, what's it been like writing Jack into the narrative and how do you feel about it? Personally speaking she the highlight of the chapters lately. Every time she and Taylor get a chance to interact it brings out so joy into the story. And Taylor's thoughts on motherhood and the desire to live up to the example that her own mother gave her are so compelling. It makes it hard to imagine this story without her. Which is why I'm curious on your current thoughts on the matter since you originally envisioned this story as absent Jackie. What did that look like long term?

I'm pretty sure Fou hates Merlin because Merlin kicked him out of Avalon.

But seriously, yes, this is the main reason for Cath Palug's dislike of Merlin. In addition to the overall fairly bastard character of Flower Mage.

Although, in the end, Fou, if you read between the lines, can even be said to be grateful to Merlin for meeting Mashu. Although beating the Flower Mage, even with this thanks is a must, especially if the team has Morgan and Vortigern.

Primate Murder hating Merlin? Say it ain't so!

Honestly that is why I think Taylor hates the Fou so much, it's an instinctive conceptual thing since Taylor saved Humanity and Fou, well…

They're both candidates for Beasts, and likely the same one, Beast IV of Comparison. I can't imagine Beast candidates of Comparison are naturally inclined to get along seeing as the nature of their Sin is to stand above all others.

The original plan was for Taylor to kill her, and for it to really mess her up to do it. But it felt better and like more of a step forward for her character development if she faltered and failed at the last second, and the patrons thought so, too, when I put it to a vote, so that's what we went with.

It's not been completely smooth sailing. Working her into things has been easier in the Singularity itself than I think it will be now that I'm writing the downtime after London, but she's produced some very good - if small - moments that I think people will continue to enjoy.

You are probably right, though Beasts with the same number hate each other in general, so their sin being Comparison doesn't matter that much.

Remember Sakura Saiyan and Therapist With a Space in the Middle of the Word?

Thotzilla and stripper Sakura have the issue where they are opposite incarnations of the sin besides everyone hates Thotzilla.

for what it's worth i think it was the right choice even if it complicates future scenes, because it allows more characterization and development from Taylor than i think we would get otherwise (especially if, as you said, killing her would open up old wounds for Taylor)

though that phrasing does imply that Jackie is likely going to survive the Singularity
i expected as much at this point, but that still makes me very happy

Though with the Master-Servant dream bleedthrough I suspect Taylor's going to have to have a talk with Jackie about not talking about what she sees at night, or at least not around anybody that can overhear. Children aren't exactly known for being bastions of information security.

Jackie isn't really prone to talking at all, even before Information Erasure

Her priorities are Cuddles, Play and Kill.
Unless you're Andersen or someone similar getting anything out of her would be harder than getting it out of Taylor
