Hell is other angels

Would a council-raised (or brainwashed, but that's unlikely) slayer really use "bullshit"? Especially where her watcher can hear.

Saint didn't lie. Anna has not actually seen him with wings, and there is a difference between seeing something with your own eyes and merely seeing it in a dream vision. He never told her that he doesn't have wings.
But that sort of word-play doesn't actually inspire much more trust than just straight-up lying.

But it's going to bite him in the ass later.
If the deception is revealed as part of him doing something suspicious, sure. But there are a lot of ways you can spin something like this without it being worse than damaging trust. Like "given the choice between violent conflict with someone on the same side and telling a white lie, I'll tell the lie".

No, that's Aiko's job if she and Saint are keeping this relationship up. (Fox spirits. Mind the teeth.)
It's his liver, not his arse, that he should be worrying about.
If Aiko was that kind of fox spirit, of course.
I'm sure they can think of creative uses for those teeth of hers, given that they have potentially unlimited time together.
And given Taziel's appellation as "Shaper," I'm sure that Saint could reciprocate whatever she might try. ;)

Tentacles confirmed. . . Excellent.

So I think it's time to retaliate some more with the grand derailment of prophecies in general, the PTB are making a nucense of themself.
May be time to try out some rituals to increase your sorcerous abilities, you have more time than the mayor.

I looked to the side to where Aiko was sleeping on the bed and I couldn't help but frown slightly. Something struck me after having watched her disable the Slayer. Was she fucking about with my head?

Because this was not really common for me, especially lately with my general worries with Taziel and... well, general bullshit. She wasn't evil, but she was not human. I really should have worried more about that.

Taz? Is she messing with my head?

Taz's image appeared on my other side, laying on her side and proper up on her elbow. "Of course she is, my host," she said with a smile.

What.

"...but not in a supernatural manner," Taziel continued with a smile. "You really think I would allow anyone to do that to you, my host? Even if you assumed I was not looking out for your best interests, it's in mine as well. Same thing as the contract with Wolfram and Hart. I'm territorial like that."

I frowned at her, but you said she was messing with my head.

"Well, she is," Taziel said with a grin. "She is pretty, young, willing and show you plenty of cleavage while not seriously trying to eat you. Of course that's messing with your head."

I couldn't quite avoid noticing that Taziel was doing exactly the same thing.

Taziel winked and faded away.

Sighing I put my arms behind my head and looked up at the dark ceiling. I was leaving for Boston tomorrow now that I got the slayer of my arse. I think I owed Kendra to at least see if I could track down Faith and see that she was okay.

Or maybe I didn't but I did feel at least a bit responsible for her not getting called.

I glanced to the side at the clock. Ugh, I really should try to get some sleep. Yawning I rolled over and closed my eyes.

XXXXXXXXXX

"You what?" I asked and looked at Aiko as I pulled my T-shirt back on.

"I'm coming with you to Boston," she answered from over in the bathroom, the door open as she brushed her long hair.

"...Why?"

"Told you before. You are interesting, I have nothing that need doing right now and I'm bored."

"Aiko, it won't be very interesting, you realize that, right? I'm just going to go check on some stuff." I sighed and pulled my pants on, "I'll go there, look around and see if I can find someone and then move on to Sunnydale."

"The Hellmouth? Why would you want to go there?" she asked with a frown as she walked back into the bedroom to get dressed as well.

I shook my head. "Want? No. Need? Maybe. A lot of important things are going to go down there soon enough."

If nothing else, graduation is this year... I think. If I could get there and shoot the mayor in the head before he turn invulnerable that would solve a lot of problems. Stuff was already off the rails and the PTB is already pissed at me so I might as well involve myself. Staying away clearly didn't work anyway.

"Okay then. Sunnydale it is," she agreed.

"Aiko... I'm not sure that's a good idea."

She frowned at me. "Why?"

"Well, for one thing if you get hurt or worse, killed, I'm going to have a angry deity on my arse. I have enough of that already."

If the PTB was not a bunch of demons or something. They at least counted as some sort of gods. I really didn't need more of them pissed at me, let alone one that seemed more hands on like her father.

Never mind the fact that her mother was almost as scary. Scratch that, I remember the legends about Kitsune. She was the scarier or the two.

Inari would likely just torture me to death. Hisa would not be as nice and civilized about it.

Aiko rolled her eyes and wiggled into her jeans. "I can handle myself, human. I did over a hundred years before you were born."

I idly hooked my foot behind her ankle and gave it a tug, causing her to fall onto her rear with a surprised yelp as I raised an eyebrow at her. "Human, huh?"

I didn't have time feeling smug. She blurred and was replaced with a small white fox before she hit the ground and she faded into invisibility as she darted away.

Slowly getting up, I listened for the sound of paws. Nothing.

Any ideas, Taz?

"Oh no, you got yourself into this one, My Host. You get yourself out of it," the fallen said into my ear, sounding amused.

Well, fat lot of help you are.

I slowly turned and looked around before I felt a draft of wind and I spun around just in time to catch her only for her to hit me hard enough to knock me onto my back on the bed as she grinned down at me,

"Human."

"Humans don't have claws or teeth," I countered as I looked up at her. "A lot of things in Sunnydale do."

"They would never see me."

I sighed, "well, it's up to you. You are right, you can handle yourself." Then, I smirked, "Unless it's a Mo'o I guess."

"Are you trying to get on my bad side?" she said, sounding annoyed. "Because that seem like a very good way to get quite a lot of tricks played on you."

"...There are so many easy answers I can give to that one that would get me in trouble."

Aiko rolled her eyes and got of me. "When and how do we leave?"

"Well, I was thinking of flying."

"I'll make a call to get the plane ready."

Not what I had in mind but I'm sure as hell was not going to complain about not needing to fly economy.

I think the proper response in that situation would have been to spread your wings.
I'm sure those extra eyes are good for more than just looking pretty.

It would take a couple of hours to get the plane ready and the room was paid for until the end of the day so... there was no real hurry.

I looked up at a knock on the door.

"Must be room service." Aiko said and stretched, "Goody, I feel like strawberries."

"That was fast. I'll get it." I volunteered and quickly found my pants again as I tried to keep Aiko into my field of view.

Did I love her? No. Didn't think I did. But I sure as hell liked her... and damn if that's not a nice view.

Sometimes life isn't that bad.

Grinning to myself, I walked up to open the door, revealing a short man in a cheap suit and a hat. I stared at him for half a second before I snarled and grabbed him by the neck and pulled him inside as I kicked his feet out from beneath him before slamming him down against the floor, face down.

Whistler hit the floor with a heavy sound, the air being driven from his lungs as I knelt, pinning his neck with my knee, controlling his free arm with my hand and twisting it to the breaking point.

He made a sound of pain, "Ow! Son of a... my nose!"

I put a bit more pressure on his spine and he sounded like he choked as I held my hand out behind me. It took a second before Aiko put my gun in it and I pressed it against Whistlers temple as the still very naked Aiko closed the door.

"Now." I said and let the pressure up slightly, "Your bosses tried to feed me to to a vamp and then set a Slayer on me. If you would be so kind as to tell me exactly why I should not kill you right now. Three words or less, please."

He made a small choking sound and cleared his throat, "Acathla is going to awaken. Sorry, that was five."

I stared down at him for a long moment, gritting my teeth.

God damn fucking damn it.

"Who is Acathla?" Aiko asked as she slipped a robe on and tied it closed.

"Demon that when awakened will open his mouth and suck the world into hell. Or rather, merge earth with a hell dimension." I explained and looked down at Whistler, "Speak quickly, demon."

"We don't think the Slayer will find it in time. We need you in Sunnydale."

I really felt like pistol whipping him. Actually, I felt like shooting his bosses in the face, but I guess I'll have to settle for what I can do.

So I did.

"Ow! Son of a bitch!" he cursed and I pulled harder at his arm, getting a groan in pain in response.

"When and where."

"W-week or two. Don't know exactly."

"My Host... if he is telling the truth, we really need to stop them." Taziel said softly into my ear.

Really? I would think the Fallen were all about the end of the world.

"Why would we want the world to end, My Host? Even if going by the assumption that were were all evil, if the world ends there would be no more souls to corrupt. I happen to quite like this world. It's where I keep all my stuff."

"Your bosses tried to feed me to a vampire. Sent a slayer after me." I said and slowly pulled my gun back, "If I ever run into you again, Whistler, I'll kill you. I don't care how much bullet it will take."

I then moved off him, backing away and keeping my gun on him, no matter how little it would matter.

Whistler struggled up and touched his nose before making a sound of pain as he pulled it back into place, "Believe me, kid. They are not overly happy about reaching out to the other side either."

I raised my eyebrow at him, "Other side? They tried to feed me to a vampire!"

"You are working with a Fallen. You're not exactly in a place to throw stones here." He said and rubbed his neck.

"She is working with me."

"For now."

I looked at him and shook my head, "Get the fuck out."

"Believe me, I would rather be at a lot of places other than here." He said and opened the door.

"Whistler?" I said, "No more vampires, no more slayer dreams. If I see you again, I'll kill you and then start actively trying to fuck your bosses as hard as I can. You think I'm making a mess just walking around? Wanna see how much of a pain I can be if I actively try?"

"I'll pass it along."

Then he was gone and the door closed. I put the safety on the gun and sank down on the bed, rubbing the bridge of my nose. Son of a motherfucking bitch. Why is it that the so called 'good guys' were bigger arseholes than the bad guys? At least they were honest about it.

"End of the world?" Aiko asked and shrugged her robe off to start to get dressed.

"Acathla. Somebody is trying to wake him up and needs to be stopped. Fucking hell." I sighed and let myself fall back against the bed.

"Why are they coming to you about it? They have their own champions, don't they?"

"...Yeah. They tried to make me one. Instead I bent their plans over and fucked them over royally. I think they are counting on that ability right now." I sighed and rubbed my eyes before I quickly sat up and rushed to tear the door open and looking out the corridor, "Whistler! Get your arse back here!"

Nothing.

"What did you think of?" Aiko asked and pulled a t-shirt on. It likely cost more than most suits.

I shook my head and headed towards the phone, "He just hired me for a job. The least he could do was to pay me."

That got a snort from her, "How mercenary of you."

"Some of us don't have two hundred years of investments to siphon off." I grumbled and dialed a number, "Think you can get the jet to change the flight path to Sunnydale?"

"Already on it." Aiko commented as she dug through her bag for her phone, "Who are you calling?"

I didn't have time to answer as the other end picked up, "Laz? Yeah, we have a situation."
