Hell is other angels

Hmm, I wonder how far Saint could get if he popped wings before Buffy and tried to pull off a whole 'sent by God' thing. Could be amusing.

... Somehow Giles is worse than Buffy to run into. I just know it.

He's definitely more okay with killing humans than Buffy is.

Assuming she considers Hiver human.

Buffy is slightly less prone to buying into the Monsters Have To Die line than most Slayers, due to poorer indoctrination and a general lack of respect for authority, but she'd probably quickly go for 'break his face' and then happily escalate with mister stabby if he didn't just take his medicine.

Giles, on the other hand, would be perfectly willing to either wizard at Saint, or smile politely, offer tea, then arrange for an assassination squad, if he decided it was necessary. Bright side, he weighs necessity quite a bit more than either Buffy or the Watchers do.

Well that's an even worse plan. That'd definitely convince Giles to arrange for Saint's death.

As the car turned the corner and out of sight, I shook my head and walked into the school. the hairs on the back of my neck stood up as I crossed the threshold... Fuck me. Is it the Hellmouth that's doing this or is the highschool just that bad?
It's just the high school. Nothing supernatural.

Given that Giles wasn't the one screwing the 'victim' and that he's far more pragmatic at this point in time than buffy. It's probably for the best that he met Giles first. Yes he could and would call in a hit squad if he thought it neccesary but he'll still listen first -pissing off an uber-demon he's alone with is a terrible idea after all-. Plus he answers to the watcher council NOT the dicks that be, he's well aware that they have their own goals.

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't the Judge show up after Angelus killed Jana? Shouldn't Giles be patting Saint on the back and offering him a drink instead?

"
"You are Mister Giles yes? I believe we have much to discuss."

didn't he all ready meet Giles once, should it be hello again Giles.

Plus he answers to the watcher council NOT the dicks that be, he's well aware that they have their own goals.

i'm pretty sure the watchers council also count as the dick's that watch. So that's not saying much

Giles looked up at me in surprise, "W-who are you?" he asked as he closed the thick leather bound book.

"Saint. But you may know me as 'the guy that blew up Angelus'." I said as I walked inside and looked around. Nobody else in here. Also, no wonder he didn't recognize me. Not only had I changed a bit, but he also wasn't there at the time.

"I see." he said, following me with his eyes as I moved. He moved slightly to the side. Hmm... incidentally putting himself between me and the book, "And what do you want?"

"Well, me and my group is back in town. We got word some fucking twit is trying to wake up Acathla." I explained and put my hands in my pockets, leaning against the library counter, "I don't know about you, but personally, I like the world. It's where I keep all my things."

Giles stared at me for a long moment, "And how do you know about this?"

"A little demon told me. He works for your Slayer's bosses so I'm guessing she's been having bad dreams."

"...Who are you?"

"Saint." I sighed and rubbed my forehead, "I'm older than I look. Anyway, I would prefer to work with your group for this to stop the world from ending, but I'll settle with not getting in each other's way. The Slayer was involved with Angelus, was she not? Romantically I mean?"

He just stared at me. I took that as a yes.

"So I'm guessing she is feeling stabby when it come to me. Look, I was actually going to go to that meeting we set up, but I was told rather bluntly by the Powers That Be that I had broken one of many prophecies and to get out of town before they did something drastic to me." I explained and crossed my arms, "I did leave a note."

Giles frowned at me, "...How do you know about all this?"

"I could say I was a time traveler or that I had access to a seer, but I would be lying." I said before I shrugged, "Let's just say that some things are less secret than you think when you know where to listen."

In this case, a couple of dimensions over and during the right time slot. I understand now why there are so many cryptic bastards around. It's fun.

"And what do you know of Acathla?" Giles asked carefully.

I shrugged, "That if he wakes up, he suck the world into a hell dimension. Which will kinda such for everyone involved. I don't know who, when or where it will happen other than 'during the next couple of weeks' and 'Sunnydale'. So that's the next step. What do you got?"

"If you wish to work with us..."

"I do. But it need to be a two way street." I said with a frown, "Wish for me to share? Then you do the same."

"I have no reason to trust you."

I raised an eyebrow, "True. But I did come here alone to work with you instead of simply going on with the work and risk stumbling on each other. Seemed like good manners."

Giles regarded me for a long moment, "The man trying to wake Acathla is a demon warlock named Telos More."

Never heard of him. Taziel?

"I have neither my host. But keep in mind that it's a long time since I last had a bearer."

"Human?" I asked with a frown and at Giles nod, I continued, "...Why? Don't he realize that if he actually makes it, he will be on the bottom of the foodchain?"

Giles shook his head, "Most dark magic users tend to have a deficiency of common sense." he said with a frown, "Who are you again? Where are you from?"

"Lots of places."

"You look Buffy's age."

"I'm older than I lo..." I started to answer but I was interrupted by the door of the library opening.

"Giles! Find anything on the..." Buffy started before she spotted me and froze, "You."

"Me." I confirmed, "Before you try to pummel me, I would like to apologize for missing our meeting. I was... called away."

With a metaphorical gun to my head. Said gun whom was right now standing three meters away from me.

"Giles?" she asked and looked over at him.

The Watcher motioned towards me, "Mister Saint here claim to be a demon hunter and here to stop Acathla. He say he is stopping by to 'check in' so we are not stumbling over each other."

"Oh."

Buffy gave me a wary look, "Is he evil?"

"Not as far as I know." I said with a shrug, "I must say I'm a bit surprised. I expected you to be more... emotional. I did blow up your boyfriend."

She pressed her lips a bit together, "He wasn't Angel anymore."

That's a bit more.. well, kept together than I expected from Buffy. Then again, I may be remembering her more emotional than she really is. I didn't know her after all, just what I remembered from the show... and it's been the better part of a year since then so she had some time to cool off.

I just nodded.

Buffy looked at me, "So what are you doing here?"

"End of the world. Trying to stop it. Any clues?"

"Still looking."

"...Okay then. Well, I better get going, just here to check in after all and I have another appointment later."

I moved to walk past her only for Buffy to grab my shoulder, "This is my town."

I looked at her and shook my head, "I'm pretty sure it's Mayor Wilkins town. But yes, I did check in for a reason, Miss Summers."

There are benefits to be had, but you might not know them until it's TOO LATE!

"So... how certain are we that he is a evil sorcerer?" Lazarus asked as she looked at the fence surrounding the mansion.

"Fairly." I said as I loaded the shotgun with buckshot. Not good against armor, or armored demons but against anything we should find in there, it should work well, "From what I remember and have seen, everything seem to be lining up. But that's why I asked Aiko to have a look before we move."

If this was some kind of alternate reality where he was not a demon ascending evil spell caster, it would really suck to go in there and shooting him. Even ignoring the entire murder thing, he was a rather skilled mayor.

"I guess." Lazarus said with a frown, "But... still. Human."

"Just because you are human don't mean you can't also be a monster." I said and finished loading, "Remember the plan?"

"Of course. You and miss foxy go in, I stay with the car." Laz answered and frowned, "Just... be careful."

"When am I ever not careful?"

I just got a raised eyebrow in response. Okay, fair enough.

There was a knock on the window and I opened the door and got out, "What do we go?"

Aiko shrugged, "Evil magic. I saw at least two vampires working in the building. The man you showed the picture of is in his office, I saw him from the outside. He was reading some kind of large leather bound book, it smelled of death."

"So evil sorcerer confirmed." I said and nodded, reaching in to putting a pair of grenades in my belt and checking that my pistol and machete were in their right spots and firmly attached, "Let's go be bad guys."

Aiko smiled brightly, "Stay close, I have a clear path to the house."

I nodded, "Lead the way and then stay safe."

She just winked and blurred, being replaced by a small white fox that dodged across the road, leaving me to keep up.

I had to work to keep up with her. Damn, she is fast when she want to be. Also... running through a dark forest? Good way to break your ankles.

Luckily it was only ten meters or so to the fence, a three or so meters tall. Hardly a problem. I didn't even slow down as I ran towards it and jumped, one foot against it propelled me a bit higher and I grabbed the edge, flipping myself over it to drop down on the other side, landing easily before I froze and listened hard.

Nothing. Before me were an expensive lawn that stretched all the way to the mansion. The little white fox landed next to me, both tails swaying before she jumped up to lay across my shoulders and I felt reality shift around us, getting blurry.

Aiko nipped at my ear to get me to move and I nodded, starting a run across the grass until I reached the mansion, trusting her illusion to keep me covered.

As soon as I reached the wall, Aiko jumped off my shoulders and stopped by the door, giving it a small pawing.

Nodding I un-shouldered the shotgun and reached to pull the handle down. The door opened easily enough, sliding open without a sound and I peeked inside. A bored looking guard facing away from the door. Mirror to the left.

No reflection, vampire.

Easy.

I glanced down. Aiko was gone. Good, she'll stay safe. Entering silently I pulled my machete and ran across the hallway. One chop and one less vampire.

A soft yip made me look over, seeing Aiko by the stairs, motioning up them with her head. Nodding I headed up the stairs, allowing her to lead me through the mansion to a door where she stopped and them disappeared.

Hmm. I paused and listened by the door. Nothing, a pair of voices. I recognized one of them, the mayor.

Let's get this over with and hope he don't blast me into the next century. Sorcerer after all. Taking a step back I double checked my shotgun.

Stepping forward, I kicked the door hard and it flew open. A pair of surprised people looked in my direction. One behind a desk and a guy in a dark robe.

I instantly fired, the blast catching darth wannabee in the neck and he turned to slime, splattering across the room before I shifted my aim at the shocked looking mayor.

"Uhm..." He started to say as he stared at me before slowly starting to get up, "I'm sure whatever it is that you want, we can come to some sort of..."

I racked the shotgun and pulled the trigger straight into his face. His head just kinda exploded and he slumped back into the chair again.

I racked the shotgun and pulled the trigger again and again until I ran out of shells before I pulled my pistol and aimed at the bloody mess. It didn't move.

"No, I don't think we can." I told him as I stayed like that for a couple of second. I then shouldered my shotgun and turned to walk out as I took a incendiary grenade from my belt and pulled the pin before throwing it into the room before breaking into a run.

A loud wump and the air slammed into me, almost causing me to stumble and suddenly everything behind me was fire.

I hit the exit running as fast as I could across the law and somewhere on the way, a white fox shimmered into view right next to me. The wall was not any bigger obstacle on the way out and I vaulted over it, landing easily on the other side.

A second later Aiko landed next to me. Next thing I knew my back was against the brick wall as she grinned up at me with a giggle, "That was fun! Did you see the look on his face? I love playing tricks."

Sometimes you get a stark reminder that your girlfriend are not human. This was one of them.

I put my arms around her automatically, "Aiko, this can wait until we get home?" I said as she pressed closer.

"Why?"

"For one thing, beds are more comfortable. But this place will also be swarming with police and firefighters soon... and Lazarus is waiting with the car."

She tilted her head before she sighed and pulled away, "Fine..."

AN// Unbetaed. PM me fixes if you like.

.....Taz can make it so that he can picture the exact look on his face, right?
and would presumably be capable of painting a painting of it?
that way they can all look at that look of shock....

It really is too bad that such a good mayor had to go.
Maybe hopefully he trained a protege in his mayor'ing skills?
Of course said protege would also likely be an apprentice...
Well. At least the town would continue to have a competent mayor for another few hundred years, until Saint need to shoot him in the face.
And the cycle starts over.
It could be a nice family tradition!

"How rude" why do I get the feeling that the mayor will pop up right as rain tomorrow looking mildly disappointed with saint for thinking that would work.
I don't have enough knowledge of Buffy to really say, though I would think that Taziel would have brought up the possibility if it was one.
