Hell is other angels

Going with the clichéd but effective solution, we ordered a bunch of AK-47 rifles for the group under the idea that if they were easy enough for child soldiers to use, these... well, child soldiers should be able to us them.
"But I don't know how to use a gun!"
"Shut up, if an 8 year old african kid can figure it out so can you."

That aside very nice set up for the shenanigans that are bound to appear soon.

This is when one can casually reveal the Doom-walker.
Just make it out to be the trigger event and it sounds like a most hilarious Crit-fail on the part of the Chaos Mage.

"This magician thought that turning everyone into their costumes would be cool, unfortunately I went as the Doom Guy.

Yes Xander, he really said 'You have Huge Guts! RIP AND TEAR!!!!' It is quite a bit less funny when you say it in first person.

Turns out having ten thousand years of constant life and death Daemon combat leaves some pretty deep marks, and as such my whole mind and soul were tinted into a Demon killing shade. As such 'Helolo, my code name is Saint, and I kill demons and demon accessories.' These are my compatriots, Aiko the Sexy Vixen and lady Lazarus the Braaaiiiins of the operation."

I crossed my arms and leaned against the hood of the car as I waited for the plane to taxi into position. Another one of Inaris planes, guess being a deity of industry pay of in the modern world. Though granted, this one was less fancy looking.

"Finally." Aiko sighed from next to me where she was sitting on the hood in her little jeans shorts and t-shirt, "That took forever."

"Eh, they are here now."

Just in time, we can't risk waiting any longer. Assuming they are in any condition to fight, we move tonight. Lucky Giles was part of the Slayers group, he kept things from degenerating further during the meeting.

Maybe I should not have said that.

I watched at the engines started to spin down and the door opened, the stairs lowering before revealing a guy in dark clothes. He looked around and then ducked back out of sight before a woman walked out and down the stairs.

She looked like Aiko's sister and wearing a short red dress. I almost swallowed my tongue and Aiko jumped off the hood to walk over, "Mother!"

"Little one." she answered and hugged Aiko back with a smile.

"I didn't expect you."

"Of course I would come." Hisa answered and let go of her daughter, "This is something that involve all of us, is it not?" before she looked over at me.

I quickly bowed to her.

Hisa's lips twitched in a smile, "Saint. Taziel."

"Ma'am. Good to see you again."

She walked up to touched my cheek with a smile, "Good to see you as well. I see you take good care of my Aiko."

"I do my best, ma'am." I answered, trying hard not to think about earlier this morning.

Hisa smiled and then turned to walk back towards the plane, "I'll get our warriors moving. Do you have a location to where we can set up, daughter?"

Aiko quickly nodded and walked along beside her, "We do, we found a clear warehouse over by..."

I slowly relaxed back against the car, letting my breath out. I don't know why, but that woman scare the ever living shit out of me.

Taziel appeared next to me with a smile, a pair of wings raised to put me in shadow from the sun, "Well, she could suck the life out of you with a touch. Too bad it can't be done quickly at a range or this would be over very quickly."

Not even the warlock?

"Sadly no." Taziel sighed and jumped up to sit on the hood where Aiko used to be, crossing her legs, "Nothing is ever easy, is it?"

As a rule, no.

"Anyway, it's not just because she could kill you with a thought, but because you want her approval. You are starting to fall for your fox spirit, it's no longer just physical for you, is it, my host?" Taziel continued with a smile as she shifted closer.

I glanced at her and then over where Aiko and her mother were talking next to the plane and the men unloading equipment.

...Maybe. I really do like her. But love? We known each other less than a month.

"Love at first sight is a thing, my host." Taziel sighed, "Despite what some of your more modern opinions about it is. It is rare, but it do exist. But love can also grow quickly. It's precious, handle it with care. Besides, Kitsune are known to be loving and loyal wives."

Wife!? Are you not going a bit too far right now?

"Long term planning is what my kind do, my host." Taziel teased, scooting up to wrap her arms around me from behind, her head resting against my shoulder as she pressed close, "I don't mind sharing."

I did my best to ignore her. I knew she was just trying to annoy me.

That thought got a giggle from the fallen, "Know me so well already?"

Well, you have been doing the same thing since I picked you up. Seems logical.

"Hmm... true." Taziel agreed and then shifted around to stand before me, sliding her arms around the back of my neck as she went up onto her toes to whisper into my ear, "Of course, do remember there are other skills I can teach you... that does not involve the Doomslayer. I bet your mate will enjoy them... immensely."

I took a slow deep breath and looked down at her. I thought that was more of Lasciel's stick?

Taz smirked, "All Fallen can heal their hosts even when they are not healing angels. You tend to pick up some skills during the eons without even trying."

...Whatever. Can we not do this with my girlfriends mother ten meters away. And I wouldn't do that to Aiko anyway, not even with you.

"You sure? Thousands of years of skill..." she cooed and ran her hands down my chest.

Yes! Damn it, Taziel, I swear I'll...

"Tell her you love her already." Taziel said and stepped back, crossing her arms with a satisfied smile.

I stared at her. Did you just...

"You are not unintelligent, my host." Taziel answered, sounding somewhat smug about the entire thing, "It's one of the reasons I wanted you as my partner. But you may need some pokes in the right direction from time to time to come to a conclusion. Let her know, just in case anything go wrong tonight, we are stacking the odds in our favor as heavily as we can, but it might still be your last chance."

"We are ready to go." Aiko said as she walked up to me, "Ready? We go first, they follow in the vans."

I nodded, reaching out to take her hand before bringing it to my lips, "I think we are."

"Welcome. Of course, we should also design what you call a 'combat form'. You know I used the wings as just a placeholder." Taziel said as she watched me. "I have a lot of ideas."

I just snorted. I bet you do.
hmm....
add more survivability?
a way to breath underwater, that thing Octopi can do to camouflage, learning how do do that bendy stretchy thing some characters can do (win at Limbo, all the time....and dodge attacks)
extra arms to hold extra weapons...
a tail?

Didn't read the next one, old one? Whatever the chapter before the current version was but I have ideas for combat forms like everyone else.

Pick some kind of even holy number and there you go that's the number of wings, get an extra set of arms, or hell multiple extra arms and/or a prehensile tail if Saint's puny human mind can handle it and then general durability and strength upgrades. Throw in some a bunch of extra eyes so you never get stabbed in the back(or side, or...) without seeing it coming and start spewing hellfire everywhere and you're straight out of the Old Testament.

Probably scare the shit out of people too, Old Testament angels didn't take no shit.

I believe six or eight flaming wings covered in eyes is traditional. Of course, that's the same tradition that puts the Archangels as the second or third lowest rank of angels, but apparently in the DF the Archangels act directly for the White God, so things are probably wonky on the theological side here.

Yeah. The only thing I remember that has used the hierarchy from the book of Enoch( I think?) recently was Bayonetta.
Which is a shame, really, since it adds some much needed variety to the angelic host.

On a more relevant note, I can barely constrain my glee at the prospect of and Elder Kitsune meeting the scoobies. Or rather the opposite.

Metal wings with sharp edges, constant ever shifting colors, tentacles of all shapes and sizes. . .
On another note Xander does have that weird female demon attraction thing going on

Buffy stared at me, "...Who are you? You can't be human, no human could do that."

"You could."

A better explanation would be to point out that it wasn't gods or lone champions who kicked the Old Ones off the planet. There's a REASON why the counterstrike to that involved the creation of an eternal enemy to humanity that could HIDE from humanity.

The main difference between the original angels and Cthulhu is one emerges from the sea and the other drops down from the sky. They both drive you mad (temporarily, hopefully) on sight and both are equally likely to do horrible things to you for reasons you will never understand.

Well, Taz?

"I'm working on it." my Fallen said with a frown before me. "And don't call me that. Now eat your burger, I need raw materials."

I took a bite of my third burger today.

We were cheating. The entire increased strength thing was the more effective the more muscles I had, but I couldn't just go lifting at a gym. Too much mass would slow me down too. So Taziel was working on it now as we both had a feeling it would be needed.

Of course, we could just do the entire battle shapeshifting thing further than just wings and turn into a... murderdeathbearmantis or something, but that kinda thing took practice to fight in even if you could move at once.

So she was working to optimize my body's base state right now.

Across the warehouse the monks were getting their gear ready. It looked personalized, everyone used their own equipment but there was a theme in it. Some had swords, but they all used the same kind of swords, a straight-edged Korean model.

The ones with guns used AKs.

Not surprised, they were not exactly difficult to get. Our own box was sitting in the corner over where Lazarus was going over the weapons for the Slayer's gang. Buffy was amusing to watch. She was constantly flipping between 'Eww, guns' and 'Oooh, new weapon'. I think it's Buffy in conflict with the Slayer spirit.

Finishing the burger, I crossed my arms and laid back on the hood of the car, looking up at the ceiling and glancing at the high set and broken window. Orange light, soon sunset.

Almost time.

"There, I think." Taziel said where she was kneeling next to me. "How do you feel?"

Scooting to stand up I rolled my shoulders and looked at my arm. A bit more definition but I looked like before. I wasn't any bigger or anything.

I did a small bounce with a frown. "I feel a bit lighter."

"You are actually about twenty kilos heavier." Taziel said and scooted to the edge of the hood, crossed her legs and leaned back to rest on her elbows. "But you are about fifty percent stronger than you were before I started and I optimized your neuro transmitters to enhance your reaction speeds. I also strengthened your bones. Without mythical enhancement or making you bigger, I can't make anything better like this. Oh and I fixed your eyes."

I nodded. Thanks.

"Welcome. Of course, we should also design what you call a 'combat form'. You know I used the wings as just a placeholder." Taziel said as she watched me. "I have a lot of ideas."

I just snorted. I bet you do.

I then leaned back against the hood next to her, crossing my arms with a small frown as a thought hit me. Your eyes must show in that form, right?

Taziel nodded. "It's part of the rules. And one that can't be broken."

But Nic and... his fallen don't do that, they use this freaky shadow thing, don't they? And he doesn't show the eyes, do he?

She pursed her lips in annoyance. "Anduriel is cheating. As always." she said before she shook her head and explained, "It's because Anduriel is not manifesting for Nicodemus, Nicodemus is manifesting for Anduriel."

...Huh?

"Instead of Anduriel using his power to manifest powers for Nicodemus, Nicodemus use his powers to allow Anduriel to act." Taziel said. "It's a fine point, but because it's Nicodemus that has the power and allows Anduriel to borrow it, he doesn't need to manifest the normal signs but is still able to act on the world using the shadow form."

Huh. Well, that's really sneaky. Could we do something like that? Do I have the magic needed?

Taziel eyed me thoughtfully. "Not as such. While the concept could work, I don't want to copy Anduriel. You don't have the power needed either... not yet. There are ways to increase your magical ampage that are not too morally objectionable so if it's the path you wish to go, it is possible to get you up to doing that. Just not a shadow, my host."

I slowly nodded. Needed to think that over.

But now was not the time. We were about to assault a small army of demons. Even if everything went well, a lot of people here would die.

If any of the Slayer's group went down...

Shit. The entire timeline is already so far off the rails I think it's technically a boat now. On fucking Titan.

Then there were the monks. According to Taziel the translation of their order was called something like 'Blade against the Dark'. Which was kinda badass and sounded like a metal band. But a lot of them would die today.

Then there was Lazarus and...

...Aiko.

If any of them died due to this, I'm not sure what I would do. Damn it, damn it, damn it. The only one in the entire group I was actually not worried about whatsoever was Hisa. I don't think anything would even be able to touch her, but I'm also not sure she would be able to finish the mission without being delayed or detained if she went in solo.

"What are you thinking about?" Aiko asked as she walked up to me. She was wearing a pair of dark jeans and a black t-shirt, her hair pulled back in a braid.

"Nothing much."

"I'm not staying out of this. If that's what you are thinking about." She said and continued: "It's dangerous, but doing nothing would be even more dangerous. Like mother said, this involves the entire world."

"...I wouldn't ask that." I said and took her hand. "In fact, you are center of my plan. And you would likely hide my clothes beneath an illusion or something if I tried."

"Mmm... I might anyway..." she murmured and eyed me. "Your partner made things even nicer..."

I cleared my throat slightly and pulled her tighter. "Aiko... in case I don't get chance to tell you in the future. I think I love you."

"Don't you dare get killed in there, human." She hissed and pressed closer. "Mine."

I just smiled. "It's you I worry about."

"Oh please, they won't even see me."

"Their loss." I said with a grin before I sighed and glanced up at the window again. "Time to go through the plan."

"In a bit." Aiko answered and rested her head against my chest.
