Remi is drunk enough to mistake the corpse for Nick. It's also a slight bit of metagaming on my part, but that's kind of a part of the game.
Considering the portal in question is, at most, the size of a pinhole, and is placed behind stuff (I did say discrete), he wouldn't be able to look at it, let alone fit bubbles through it, let alone bubbles big enough that 3 of them could send acid "all over the room".

Oh I know. But Nick will not stand by as he's repeatedly attacked. He will retaliate. Darius would probably win the resulting fight, his conceptual badassery allowing him to, one way or another, defeat Nicks Respawn, but it'd be a big and long battle.
