Harry And The Shipgirls: Prisoner of Shipping (A HP/KanColle Snippet Collection)

If I recall, many of those xeno races also had history of taking human slaves.

But it's worth noting that at first, it started as they really couldn't afford to be anything else, given the kind of universe 40k is. Then the Horus Heresy happened, and the only two individuals that are aware of why the Imperium was intolerant of xenos left are Guilliman and the Emperor himself. Hence why with Guilliman back, there are at least wary deals with the Eldar.

Having gotten word that the Dry Docks were finally drained, the group headed over towards them. As they rode along in the staff car that Ume and Sakura had summoned, Harry noted that Denryuu had a nervous, frightened look on her face. With a glance at the Twins, who gave him a small nod, the teenage wizard got up and made his way over to the Carrier, sitting down beside her, "Denryuu-Chan?"

Due to having been in her own little world, Denryuu jumped a bit in her seat before turning towards Harry, "H-Harry-Chan? You scared me for a moment there."

Briefly, Harry's eyes narrowed in suspicion, but then softened as he took her hand in his, "Are you okay, Denryuu-Chan?"

Weakly laughing, the Carrier gave him a smile, "Why wouldn't I be?"

Unknown to her, Harry was no stranger to brittle smiles and the like.

Great snip, HL. I love how you did Denryuu and Ishikari here. Shoiwing their taumas and how Harry helps them with it. Obviously as an abuse survivor, HL is familiar with the signs.

After all, he had often seen such in the mirror before coming to Japan, and sometimes after, "Denryuu-Chan…" Flinching a bit, she looked down at her lap before Harry gently raised her chin to look in her eyes, "Denryuu-Chan… what's wrong?"

Looking away, Denryuu shuddered a little bit before swallowing, "It is just…" She glanced back at him for a moment, "You're going to see…"

Right then, the teenage wizard realized why she was acting the way that she was, and his expression became gentle

Yeah, She wants to be the best for him, especially since how much she loves him, and yet she's a wreck (literally) in terms of her looks.

"Denryuu-Chan, look at me." When, after a bit more prodding, she did, Harry softly smiled as he stroked her cheek, "I already told you, what your hull looks like does not matter to me. You are beautiful, within and without, no matter what some bakas would say." Gently, he gave her a kiss that caused her to blink away some wetness, "And soon, we'll see the beautiful ship that you really are."

For a moment, Denryuu bit her lip before looking him in the eyes with unsure look, "Are… are you sure?"

His lips twitching, Harry gave her another brief kiss before reaching down and lifting her hand to his mouth, with him kissing her knuckles, "Hai, I am sure about that, Denryuu-Chan. A beautiful, wonderful ship that anyone would be happy to be a normal sailor on, let alone a Captain or an Admiral. And if I am lucky, I shall be that Captain or Admiral."

Swallowing, the Carrier's fingers played along his hand before her eyes met his, "You already are."

And harry reinforces Denryuu and heals her a little bit more. And his mouth promptly writes a checque that Lil'Potter's going to cash three years or so down the line when a certain carrier demonstrates how much he means to her..

In reply, Harry gently squeezed the hand in his own before he turned towards a blushing Ishikari and Miitake as well as Mihara, "The same goes for all three of you as well."

Deeply blushing at that, Ishikari looked away with a huff, "N-not like I was worried about that sort of thing anyways… Jeez, why do you need to bring up stuff like that."

Chuckle escaping him, the teenage wizard shrugged a little as a smile played along his lips, "Sorry, can't help myself at times."

Aww! Flustered Ishikari's adorable, and he did it deliberately, which of course heals her.

Miitake just giggled at that before pushing herself from her chair and launching herself at him, "Well, you should get huggles for it!"

Eyes wide, Harry was caught between Miitake and a blushing Denryuu as the Battlecruiser began to huggle him. For her part, Ishikari groaned as she pinched her nose, "Dammit, Miitake-Chan!"

All her sister did, however, was stick her tongue out at her as the Twins giggled at their antics.

DOUBLE MARSHMALLOW HUGGLE HELL! Way to go Miitake! (And this was a great scene)

It did not take very long for the car to reach their destination in the form of the Dry Docks, now empty of water with the corroded hulls of Ishikari, Miitake, Denryuu, and Mihara in their berths. Seeing how the Carrier cringed at seeing her hull, covered in rust and various forms of sealife, Harry glanced at Ume and Sakura, who nodded after a moment with a smile. Raising his wand, he ignored the curious looks being given to him and took a deep breath before putting as much power as he could in the spell as well as focusing on the memories of the four he had, "SCOURGIFY!"

The four shipgirls had their eyes widen as the spell swept over their hulls, cleaning them of years upon years of grime, rust, and organic buildup. Corrosion vanished to reveal the steel underneath, muck and the like evaporated, dead shells and barnicles that clung to their hulls fell off. From the holes that had been drilled into them to drain away the water gushed out untold decades worth of filth, all of it bubbling away into nothing. And, when it finally stopped, their hulls looked clean, if not in great condition.

And promptly Harry cleans up the four Caldera ships. I suspect that Ume & Sakura plus maybe some other Kami are empowering him here so that his spell does so much to clean them up.

Stumbling back as he was hit by sudden weakness, only to be caught by Ishikari, Harry blinked, "Um, wow… that takes a lot out of you."

Mouth moving for several moments, the Tsundere Battlecruiser stared at him before finally asking the question on their minds, "W-why?"

With a deep breath, Harry looked up at her and then at the others before smiling, "Because… I want you all to look your very best, just like how I see you."

And Harry responds honestly and yeah.... That grave's deep enough, HP, stop digging!

Needless to say, all four of the shipgirls blushed at that, yet had happy smiles as well on their own faces. Leaning down, Denryuu kissed his cheek some and smiled, "Thank you, Harry-Chan."

This really means a lot to her. It's the little things that are meaningful in relationships. Like Draco giving up the Claming Draught that he brewed for his homework to Ehren when she was distressed.

Beside her, Miitake nodded some as well as she gave him a kiss on the other cheek, "Hai, thank you."

Yep. this means a LOT to them. Little things with big results.

Gently tightening the hug, Ishikari smiled down at him, "Thanks."

For the next few minutes, the three of them held onto Harry as he caught his breath and soon enough, he gave them a nod as he stood up, "Well, there we go, I guess."

Oh yes, and the tsundere is really is happy with him too!

Only nodded, the three smiled some before turning to the Twins as Mihara spoke up, "So… how exactly are we going to do this exactly?" She looked over at her wreck and winced a little, "I… know that we're supposed to summon our rigging over our old hulls to complete them, but not much more than that or how to do that."

Ume and Sakura blinked at that and blushed lightly before bowing, "Ah, our apologies." Straightening up, they took a deep breath and released it. Gesturing towards the hulls, the Twins nodded some, "You need to be upon your old hulls and summon their rigging. At which point you need to… focus on being the ship."

Eyebrow raised, the teenage wizard frowned some, "Focus on being the ship? You mean how some of the shipgirls can become heavier with their ship-weight? Or using the strength?"

Hum escaping from them, the two tilted their heads some, "It is something like that, we believe. But it is just something that they will need to do."

Hmm, interesting and I'm pretty sure that there is serious symbolism here.

Despite their complete and utter confusion, the four shipgirls nodded and began to walk towards the Dry Docks where their hulls awaited. That was until Miitake paused as Harry grabbed her hand with the others also stopping, "Harry-Chan?"

Lips curled into a smile, Harry gently tugged her downwards and kissed her, with the Battlecruiser's eyes fluttering shut. As he pulled back, he smiled some, "For good luck."

Much to his amusement, Miitake clapped her hands over her reddened face as she mumbled a little bit, "I don't think that I will need anymore luck than that."

HUGGLEBOTE DOWN!! I repeat: HUGGLEBOTE DOWN!!

Only chuckling at that, the wizard shook his head with a small grin before doing the same with both Ishikari and Denryuu, who also blushed. With Mihara, he just kissed her cheek, which got a pleased nod from her before the four looked at each other and continued on to their hulls. Giving one last look at Harry, who nodded with a smile, the four climbed up the gangplank to their hulls. Each one of them came to a stop near the center of their hulls on whatever deck had been completed.

Well good for him not pushing the issue with Mihara. That said, he definitely is boosting their confidence like an Admiral should, which is important here.

Just standing there, the Carrier looked around her partially finished hanger deck for the first time in months, the armored sides only done near to the stern of her old hull. Turning to the side just off her bow, she could see Harry there. Having spotted her, the wizard smiled back and nodded before giving her a thumbs up. Somehow… that caused her spirits to lift even as her boilers pounded more as she nodded back. Taking a deep breath, Denryuu released it as she summoned her rigging which formed around her. To one side, her hull with her flight deck manifested, while on the opposite side appeared her bridge and funnel. Finally, she felt the familiar weight of her crossbow in her hands.

For a few moments, Denryuu looked around her as she concentrated. Sure enough, she could feel some sort of connection there. Closing her eyes, the Carrier focused on that, while also focusing on being as much a "Ship" as possible, feeling that connection grow stronger as sparkles fell from her to the deck of the ship, sinking in. Her lips then turned up in a smile as she remembered what Harry had told her…

" And soon, we'll see the beautiful ship that you really are…"

Which was something that she really wanted to show him.

He's given her the motivation, and now she's going to show him what she's made of.

Unknown to her due to her eyes being closed, in their own Dry Docks off to the side, Ishikari and Miitake had similar thoughts as they, too, had summoned their rigging. Both of them were concentrating as well on being as much a ship as possible as sparkles fell from their rigging to their hulls beneath their feet and sinking into the steel as it glowed. Like with Denryuu, they were also focused on Harry as well, how they wanted to show him their completed hulls. To sail with him on them upon the sparkling waves.

Yep. They really do want to get him aboard for a LOT of reasons, And that motivation is what they need here.

Meanwhile, with Harry, he had an awed look on his face at what he was seeing as the four shipgirls glowed as did their rigging. Sparkles fell from them as they glowed, which swirled around their old hulls. Very slowly, the sparkles formed into ghostly versions of their completed hulls that overlaid their actual ones. At the same time, the girls rose upwards as the transparent hulls became more and more solid. Rust and corrosion vanished into steel that was covered by paint. Dents and damage vanished under the "New" hull that formed over the old one for each one of them.

Before his very eyes, their old wrecked hulls vanished, replaced by how their hulls would have looked when fully built. Mihara was the last to "Finish" with the last of the glow and sparkles vanishing. And, when they did, four pristine hulls, two Battlecruisers, one Carrier, and one Repair Ship, now sat in the Dry Docks. Each one complete and ready to be launched.

Well done, HP, well done. And the JMSDF will be very happy with the results.

When they opened their eyes, the four girls gained awed looks as they looked around them, Denryuu openly crying in purest joy before she turned towards Harry.

Oh yes, this was MASSIVE for Denryuu! She has those self-image issue sand he's alleviating them.

Standing there, Harry slowly nodded before he realized something and cleared his throat, "Ume-Chan? Sakura-Chan? Do they need to dismiss their true hulls now? Or… can they wait?"

Just blinking at that, the Twins looked at him in curiosity before glancing at each other. After a moment, they turned back to him and shook their heads, "It should be fine for them to wait for a time, Harry-Chan. But why?"

Lips curling into a small smile, Harry turned to them and whispered to the Twins who blinked for a moment before smiling.

Ok, this was really evil (and in character) for HP here. He's giving them part of themselves back.

Lips curling into a small smile, Harry turned to them and whispered to the Twins who blinked for a moment before smiling. Then, the two turned back to the four waiting ships as the shipgirls on them had confused looks on their faces… Until, that was, Ume and Sakura waved their arms at the hulls, which then became festooned in ribbons and other decorations. Nearly immediately, the four realized what that meant, especially as, shortly after, a somewhat out of breath Taihou arrived with four Sake bottles which she gave to Ume and Sakura, who took them and walked towards the ropes.

Upon seeing that, Denryuu felt tears spring to her eyes as she looked at Harry, knowing that this was his idea, "Harry-Chan…" She then turned towards Taihou was giving her a brilliant smile, one which she returned, "Onee-Chan…"

Hers was not the only tearful gaze right then, as the two Battlecruisers and the Repair Ship were the same.

Oh yeah, a proper launch and christening. And... oh man is this meaningful for them.

It took a while longer, but none of them minded as everything was quickly set up with the help of magic. Soon, the base band was prepared and everyone in the Caldera, living and dead, were there waiting and watching. Pointing at his throat with his wand, Harry took a deep breath, "Sonorus." Clearing his throat, he stood with his hands behind his back as he spoke loudly, "FLOOD THE DRY DOCKS!"

Nearly immediately, the building slips were flooded as water was pumped in. It took far less time than it had to drain the water out originally, and the barriers at the end were soon opened. Back straight, Harry walked up to the rope that held Ishikari in place, taking the silver hatchet that was handed to him by Ume and Sakura. Lifting the hatchet as "Warship March" was played, he brought it down severing the rope, the bottle of sake attached to it swinging into Ishikari's bow and smashing against the armored steel while small firecrackers went off and the ribbons shot into the air as the wizards to the side of her celebrated.

And Ishikari has tears in her eyes and a brilliant smile right now, no doubt....

Then, Harry moved on to Miitake, followed by Denryuu, and Mihara. Each one he cut the rope with the hatchet, cutting through them cleanly, with the sake smashing into their bows. As the band continued to play and the personnel of the Caldera cheered, Harry stood at attention and saluted the four shipgirls, all of whom had tears in their eyes as they did the same, the wizards beside the slips using magic to ease them out into the caldera's waters. As they drifted further into the caldera, their smokestacks began to release smoke as their whistles blew.

Likewise with the others, of course. And they are finally free of their graves and the past and can make a new course for themselves... and their admiral.

Standing on the pier, Harry watched as they came up, one by one, and climbed up the ladder, dismissing their rigging as they did so. About to say something, the teenage wizard was stopped as he was suddenly grabbed and pulled into a kiss that deepened immediately with a hum from the kisser. Much to his surprise, however, it was Ishikari rather than her sister or Denryuu who was kissing him. Once she let him go, the teen staggered some as if drunk as he blinked. Readjusting his glasses, Harry stared at the blushing Tsundere Battlecruiser, '… D-did I hit her Dere switch?'

Oh yeah, he hit the Dere buttons hard, and...well she's over the moon for him (and making it clear that she wants him to board her hull ASAP for a personal private tour)

Granted, he didn't get much time to think as, soon enough, Miitake followed her sister's lead and than Denryuu copied the actions of her two friends. Watching as the heavily blushing, breathless Harry stood there blinking owlishly, Mihara giggled some, 'Okay… that was amusing.' Walking up to him, the Repair Ship gave him a kiss on the cheek and nodded, "Thank you, Harry-San."

The Harry has been boggled, since those kisses were a reward, yes. But also a promise.

Readjusting his glasses, the wizard nodded some, "Um… you're welcome…" He then looked around and smiled some, "All of you."

Happily smiling, Miitake nodded along with the others before pulling him into a hug, "Come here, you! Time for some huggles!"

To his great surprise, Ishikari joined her sister in hugging him with Denryuu also doing so.

Triple huggles!! And yeah, someone is very very dere dere right now!

Of course, that was when Ume and Sakura walked up with smiles on their faces, the Twins nodding some, "Hopefully the four of you approve of what happened?"

Just sharing looks with the others, Denryuu nodded happily, "We're very much approving of what happened, Ume-Chan, Sakura-Chan." She then walked over and hugged the two closely, "Thank you both, for everything."

Very slowly, the two brought their arms up and returned the hug with smiles, "You are very much welcome, Denryuu-Chan. It was our honor."

And this was nice to see the relationship between the twins and Caldera ships.

After she and the others had hugged the Twins, Ishikari rubbed her arm some as she glanced at Harry, "So, um… how long do you believe that it will take before we can summon our hulls? N-not that I really want to at the moment or anything, you know. But… I kind of wonder…"

Lips twitching, Sakura answered for both her and her sister,

She really REALLY wants to, oh yes..... For 'reasons'.

"It should not take long other than some effort. Think of it as being the… sea trials… that your hull would have been going through when launched originally. Hence, it will take some time, but we expect that it won't take more than a few weeks, or less if we can gain access to a time turner. It is, after all, mainly a matter of practicing it until you can do so."

Her arms around Harry's shoulders, Miitake nodded some, "Well, I can't wait! Because I'm going to have Harry-Chan come aboard my hull and sign my Crew Register as my Admiral and Captain! And also cruise around a little bit with him as well."

Of course Hugglebote spills the beans on her blushing sister ship's fantasies.

Just looking away, her sister shifted a little, "Well… I'm going to do the same thing… for reasons, you know? I-I mean, it isn't like it bothers me to have him sign my Crew Register! So I'm going to do it."

Yeah. 'Reasons'. Unh hunh. Sure, Ishikari. We all believe you that this has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Admiral Potter on your bridge getting huggled and smooched by the tsundere spirit of a B-65.

The Carrier of the group just smiled a little, happy with what happened and what it meant. Like the others, she could not wait to summon her hull outside the confines of the Caldera. And, when that day came? Well, she would set sail with Harry on her bridge and her beside him, both of them smiling as they did so.

His name in her Crew Register as an Admiral and Captain…

Oh hell yes. Her dream's almost there. Superb wortk, HL, superb work.

A/N: Fuck, Do I feel dirty. Yes, those are the reincarnation of the yokai hunters that Nobu ordered exterminated. They were to come along as supremely hateful assholes, perfectly eager to murder anyone who doesn't agree with them. And the leader... Maybe if he hadn't had an Inaba as caretaker in kindergarden, he wouldn't have awakened this early.

Believe me, I know the feeling. I went through that a LOT with Helmar & Ehren. Superb writing, and very well done!

Please tell me what you think.

It was a really great snip, althugh I recommend that the meeting has 'hundreds' instead of 'thousands' since otherwise the Japanese Government would be much more likely to crush these folks.

Weasley's Warship Workshop 43

AN: Some of the French may be incorrect. Apologies and all blame lands on me and giggle translate.

Oh YAY! I'm really looking forward to this!

Jean Bart checked her chronometer for what seemed like the millionth time as she waited for Ron and Captain Charpentier to arrive at the base of the Milhaud quay. She hadn't slept more than two hours since her refit had finished, between what seemed to be an endless stream of energy pumping from her boilers and Richelieu chatting her ear off and her, surprisingly, chatting her back almost as much about the refit. It was strange how she felt heavier, more solid yet at the same time being even lighter on her feet before. It was all she could do not to bounce back and forth like an impatient child or a runner trying to keep warm.

Great look at JB and how she's nervous and excited about her big day and also adjusting to the changes in her spirit (not being incomplete for starters). Good for Riche helping keep her grounded and under control here.

Eventually the two people she expected came into view, along with several others, none of whom she recognized. Calling up her new and now properly installed rangefinders she looked them over quickly, seeing nobody with stars on their shoulders. That made her relax a hair, as she was now a brevet Capitaine de vaisseau, pending her final sea trials.

Yep, she's still easing into her new role. Although she won't be 'brevet' much longer~~

"Jean Bart, how are you feeling?" Ron smiled as the group walked up, Captain Charpentier and a few of the others having clipboards and notepads out.

"Impatient, ready to get started." She gave him a small smile. "Happy as well."

Ron gave a grin and he blushed slightly before he gave a nod.

"I think we're all ready to get started then." Ron glanced up at Charpentier, who gave a little nod of his own.

"Yes, the observation team is ready to begin."

She's in a GOOD mood Ron, she really is. Smiling and happy? Oh yes.

Jean Bart nodded, turning to head down the quay.

"This way then."

There were a few murmurs from the group as she began to stride down the quay, her long legs striding forth for a few seconds before she mentally throttled herself. It was easy to forget that if she went all out now she'd easily outpace everyone behind her.

Again nice scene here showing the adjustment she has to relearn with a full set of boilers and shafts.

Her initial destination was the end of the quay, where she could hop off into the water and the observation group should find a boat waiting for them. Yet as she reached the empty spot where the Charles d 'Gaulle would have gone if it wasn't forward deployed to Brest, she felt a proverbial tug on her coat. She turned to look at the bare stretch of water, wondering if her rangefinders or other sensors had missed something.

Now, I have to say, I love the hull summoning scene started here. it made a lot of sense in universe and internally to WWW, showed her adjustment and growth that started with the rebuild, and it was a logical step for Davy, since in a certain symbolic sense, Ron is His Representative to the ship's spirit manifested here.

"Is everything alright Jean Bart?" Ron stopped beside her, the teen having managed to mostly keep up with her once she'd slowed down.

"I… don't know." She reached out to ruffle his hair, her gloved hand sliding easily through his messy red locks. Then she felt a spark, a zap as if she'd touched off some static electricity from him.

Yet it was more than that, as she felt something grab her insides and twist. It was as if an enormous watertight door she'd never noticed had been forced open, a rush of something she couldn't quite describe pouring into her. She let out a gasp, her hand tightening in Ron's hair hard enough she heard him grunt in discomfort.

She felt more and more of that something pour into her, to the point that she thought she was going to burst.

Yep, this is one of Ron's Champion of Davy Jones gifts manifesting here. In this case, this is eased by his intimate relationship to JB as her engineer, her captain (very shortly to be made official), her true love, and one day soon down the road, her husband. So she gains the spiritual gravitas needed to summon her hull 'back from Davey Jones Locker' as it were.

When it finally reached that point she somehow managed to push it out… right into the water in front of her.

Which promptly began to burble and roil, bubbles appearing before her eyes. Ron's eyes seemed to immediately notice as well, his head turning as he let out a gasp.

"Jean Bart, how did you…?"

Ron picked it up since he';s seen Warspite and then Duke do this, But... yeah, he's shocked that JB is about to do it.

She wasn't even sure what she'd done yet, not until she felt an anchor chain snap taught between her and whatever it was out there. Then she felt her own eyes go wide and she gave a tug.

Immediately the top of an enormous tricolor burst through the top of the harbor, already waving bravely in the wind despite having just been underwater. It was quickly followed by the tops of her masts, radar waiting and ready while the rest of her superstructure and stacks followed. She watched as the tops of both of her turrets came into view, all eight gun barrels ready and waiting and then the rest of her hull followed, water rushing down the decks as she bobbed directly upwards and then settled as if she'd been at anchor the entire time.

Cue massive boggles all over Toulon. This was a show stopper, since that is NOT a small thing, no sir.

Also this is probably something that JB can hold over Riche for a while since I'm pretty sure exactly ONE French BB can summon her hull currently, and Big Sis Pervertbote ain't her....

Now this is also going to be one of the moments Ron would use to summon his Patronus (alongside Warspite, Duke, and eventually Isabella doing this), and also a moment that JB will cherish forever.

Ron somehow recovered first, letting out a whoop of excitement and then wrapping her in a big one armed hug.

"That was amazing Jean Bart! I didn't know you could do that!"

"I… I didn't either…" she said, at a loss for words.

Yep. Boggling FBB. BIG Boggle. 43,992 tons of Boggle in fact.

Also this was a great Ron moment, He's so happy for her and doesn;t care that she;s in shock or he's committing a public display of affection with a French battleship in the middle of a naval base.

Ron gave her a look of concern as other voices trickled through her consciousness, the observation team behind them even more shocked by the sudden appearance of a full sized battleship next to them. Mere moments later a gangway thumped down onto the quay in front of them, ghostly members of Jean Bart's crew thundering down to receive mooring lines from other members standing ready at the railing.

Fortunately, her faerie crew is on the ball and ready to escort the VIP tour aboard.

Also this is when and where I put on Titans, which is my personal headcanon music for JB's 'theme'

Feeling a tickle in the back of her head, Jean Bart looked towards Ron and then nodded to the gangway.

"You should go first Ron."

"Are you sure?" Ron raised an eyebrow, turning towards her.

"Yes. You are my capitaine as well as mon amour. Nor will I disrespect the rank Duke and Warspite have given you."

Ron gave her a smile and a nod, reaching out to squeeze her hand.

"Thank you Jean Bart."

Yep. This means a LOT to her., She's breaking out the French endearments. Methinks the boilers are runnign hot and purring for her. Also this was a nice scene of her giving him the status that she feels that he both deserves and has earned in her eyes, while accepting that Warspite and Duke have their own claims.

Ron immediately started heading up the gangway, to the sound of grumbles and what sounded like one yell from behind her. Jean Bart turned her head to see Captain Charpentier glaring at the offenders so she made no more issue of it. Instead she watched as Ron climbed up to her deck, her new deck, where everything was complete and even better than it had been when she was afloat.

All thanks to him.

I'll note that at least some of the discussion from behind the happy couple is probably deciding which bistro with a well stocked wine cellar they will use for the 'informal debrief'. Because someone back there will need a stiff drink to process this event.

Good for Charpentier riding herd on his subordinates.

As Ron made his way up the gangway, he once again heard the familiar sounds of both a working ship and the pipes that proceeded him aboard. Despite the spiritual nature of the sailors around him he could hear the "Capitaine, HMS Warspite, HMS Duke of York arriving" and made sure to give the appropriate salute to the flag as he came up onto the deck.

Good on Ron knowing what to do as he falls back on the RN training that he received.

The gangway led almost directly up to turret two, with one of Jean Bart's dual 57mm Bofors mounts just off to the side. Ron once again wondered at the sheer size of everything on a battleship, barely remembering to move until he heard the unmistakable sounds of Jean Bart herself heading up the gangway.

Ron is also VERY excited, since while he knows her intimately inside and out, and this is his improvements to her design... yeah. She's got a lot of presence.

He turned just in time to see her come over the rail, her hair fluttering slightly in the wind and her offset outfit giving her a rakish air as she looked around at her crew. Giving them a nod as the ceremony completed, Jean Bart took a small leap and a few strides towards Ron.

"What do you think?" she asked him, her own eyes heading up towards her bridge tower and the visible fire directors for both her main and AA guns.

"I think you're beautiful." Ron's eyes were locked forward as he spoke, looking at the two quadruple turrets that comprised her main armament and up to the flare of her bow. Turning back towards Jean Bart got him a hungry look from the French battleship and he felt her hand reaching up to his cheek.

"You are not the first to say that Ron but you are the first who I actually believe sees the whole truth of that."

Peak. Ron. Her spirit is beautiful and her hull is magnificent. And he says that to her, which gets her all KINDS of doki-doki for him. Those six boilers are running hot for you, my boy.

(He's also looking at the main battery and not JB, and she knows that he's admiring some of her best features)

((Also he's living dangerously with that compliment, for if he wasn't a minor and she wasn't 'on the clock' for her sea trials (of sorts), well he is her love and she IS Richelieu's sister and has some definite ideas about expressing her affection toward her beloved ina very direct manner. For starters, I expect the next massage he gives her will go a good bit further than the last one and give him a nice view of her lines.))

Ron opened his mouth to say something in return but was interrupted as the rest of the group followed them up the gangway in a less formal manner, with no commanders in the group they were simply greeted by the spectral officer of the deck and made appropriate salutes. He felt Jean Bart's hand drop from his cheek and he could practically see the disappointment in her eyes as she turned towards Charpentier and the other officers.

Yeah, she wants him BAD. REAL BAD. Still business before having her captain explore the more striking features of her design.

"Jean Bart. I and the other officers have decided that given your… unique circumstances it would be best if we did your trials onboard. If you permit it."

Jean Bart gave Charpentier a nod.

"I think that would be appropriate yes."

That makes perfect sense, and this very much is something that she's goign to eat up like a chocolate lunch. Since she gets a chance to show why she's the best battleship ever launched (as she sees it) to an audience for her sea trials.

She paused and tilted her head for a few seconds, then nodded. "I've just called the harbor master for tugs, they will be here in a few minutes. Ron can guide you through the tour."

Ron glanced up at Jean Bart, even as Charpentier looked to him for a few seconds.

"Are you sure?" Charpentier asked.

"Nobody knows me better."

Right there you can hear the fondly loving tone in her voice. And the confidence she has in Ron.

Jean Bart said, then turned to Ron and gave him a sly smile where the French officers couldn't see. "Consider this your final exam before you became mon capitaine."

Ron's face split with a wide grin and he reached out to touch the small of Jean Bart's back, causing her to flush slightly.

Pro forma final exam of course. That said, this also lets Ron strut his stuff, talk sweet nothings to her as he shows her design features and improvements off, and lets him get a feel for her hull's lines.

Ron picks up on this and makes a minor move on her, which she enjoys.

"Of course." Ron turned back towards the officers and gestured towards the nearest 57mm mount.

"Gentlemen, if you'll follow me I can start showing you the refits we've made to Jean Bart in both normal and magical terms. The 57mm Bofors is a superb weapon but if you'll come over here you can see these markings which are runic enhancements for both cooling and longer barrel life…"

Ron began the tour of Jean Bart, a gaggle of French officers following after him and the battleship herself by his side, every word coming out of his mouth confident and authoritative.

Nice improvement to her medium AA there. Abnd yes, this is Ron in his element, which also cools him and down and allows for the tugs to get organized and guide her out of the harbor.

During the tour Ron began to notice a pattern. Charpentier and about half of the rest of the officers were actually paying attention and taking notes. The other half was split evenly between those who had absolutely no idea what he was saying and/or thought he was crazy as he described the magical enhancements they'd made to Jean Bart and those who were simply gawping at being on a battleship period and were making few if any notes.

Well to be fair, some of them were NOT expecting the battleship. And the magic. But yes, good on Ron picking up the categories.

They'd finished up the tour of the main armaments around the time the tugs had been approaching and then made their way down into the magazines and back through the ship, showing off Jean Bart's original structure and occasionally heading upwards to show off the AA mounts and the secondary turrets. Most of the upgrades were well received, seeming simple enough that the officers could accept them. The few times he got more detailed questions he did his best to explain but in the end it boiled down to "it's magic" and that got him a few looks.

Yeah, of course these will get tested out soon~~

As he finished explaining the combination of heating charms and wind runes which increased Jean Bart's engine efficiency beyond what she'd had before, Jean Bart herself tilted her head and nodded.

"We're on the move."

There was a subtle if noticeable motion as the tugs pulled them away from the quay.

Ron grinned, then turned back to his group.

"As we're on the way, I think we should head up to the bridge and observation decks. I'll answer any further questions you have along the way."

Its time for JB to strut her stuff. And oh boy is she ready and eager to show off for her navy and her love!

There was a general murmur of agreement and Ron escorted the group up and out of engineering as the boilers spooled up behind them, the temperature already several degrees hotter than it was when they'd entered.

**snickers** Yeah, I think that her boilers are running quite hot, and that has more to do with her emotions than the needs of her propulsion plant.

Ron glanced to Jean Bart as they walked and she raised an eyebrow at him.

"How'd I do?" he asked quietly, leaning in conspiratorially.

Jean Bart's cheeks pinked slightly and she just grinned at him for a moment.

Ron felt his own cheeks warm and continued forward with a grin tugging at the edge of his mouth.

Yeah, this was a great little sweet scene showing how compatible they are. Message received and understood. And she;s very VERY happy with you.

As they reached the upper levels of her hull, Jean Bart pulled Ron to the side, pointing Charpentier up one of the ladders.

"The bridge is up a few more levels. There's room for most of you on the Admiral's bridge."

Charpentier glanced between Jean Bart and Ron, then nodded.

Yeah, Charpentier cna read the romance flags here and that she needs to spend time with Ron. Good man to run interference so she can do what she needs to do.

The group of officers followed after their leader, the last lieutenant shooting them a curious glance as he disappeared up after the rest.

Odds are at least one betting pool is about to be paid out.

Now alone in the corridor, Jean Bart smiled at Ron.

"Now that they're gone…"

She reached out and grabbed him, tugging him into a nearby cabin where he was promptly subjected to a shorter but no less thorough repeat of the night before.

Very red in the face Ron looked up at Jean Bart, who appeared to want to do more to him but managed to refrain.

Yep, saw that coming. Ron just got his tonsils cleaned. BIGTIME. Her faerie crew are being scarce (and paying out some wagers) since they know the first man to interrupt THIS CONVERSATION with her love will get keelhauled.

"You passed you exam with flying colors Ron. I wish we have more time but this takes priority."

Jean Bart held out a book to him, one which was much smaller than either Duke or Warspite's but was no less important.

"I… yes of course." Ron managed to center himself enough to take the pen offered to him. It was easy enough to sign the available line, "Ronald B. Weasley Capitaine de vaisseau". He looked up at Jean Bart once he'd finished, handing the book back at the same time.

Yep. She makes it official and binds him to her. And Ron knows how much of a big step this is for their relationship both personally and professionally.

"Thank you Jean Bart."

Staring at the book in front of her, it took Jean Bart a moment to respond.

"Non, merci mon amour."

The husky tone of Jean Bart's voice told him everything he needed to know and Ron smiled. He also took advantage of Jean Bart's distraction to reach up and get ahold of the back of her head, generating a small "eep" from her before he silenced that with a smooch of his own. Even if it wasn't as thorough as hers, it was just as heartfelt and when he pulled away a few moments later her face showed the impact had matched.

"…You're lucky that we are on a limited amount of time Ron, otherwise we might find ourselves distracted for some time." Jean Bart's tone was mildly heated but she restrained herself, merely wrapping him up in a close hug. A very soft hug.

"Well you started it." Ron couldn't help but grin, wrapping his hands around her waist and holding her just as tightly.

"Mmm..." was all Jean Bart managed to say as she felt his hands on her lower back, giving him one more squeeze before letting him go.

Good to see Ron read the mood and what she wants and desires from him to make a move and initiate the next makeout session. That's a big step for his selfconfidence and maturity levels. He's in charge here, but only goes so far, even though she's going to fantasize about this moment for the rest of he rlife. She has no doubts that the future with her captain is inevitable and looks quite bright indeed.

And yes, he's very self controlled, although she plans to take a few more steps with you soon, you doomed young man.

(also Riche is SO prying this out of JB at the earliest possible moment).

"Either way we must go. It's about time for the tugs to leave us and I want my Captain on the bridge where he belongs."

Ron pulled away from her and nodded, a different sort of excitement on his face.

"I can't wait to see what you can do Jean Bart."

Their grins matched for a moment

Oh yeah, he's gone from desiring to make he rbody his, to make her hull and firepower his. Which again is a ncie side of Ron to see since she is raw power as the Queen of the Seas that she was constructed to be. And she's now going to put that at his command (albeit adviced by older and wiser heads such as Charpentier, JB, and her Faerie command staff).

then they departed the Captain's quarters, heading up the nearest ladder and eventually making their way up to the navigation bridge. Captain Charpentier was waiting for them along with one other officer, one of the ones Ron had noted as competent.

"The rest are on the admiral's bridge," Charpentier said to Jean Bart's raised eyebrow, "We're here to watch you in particular."

"Very well." Jean Bart had managed to school her face more or less back to its normal expression by that time and didn't raise a fuss. "Tugs have parted. Getting underway."

Heh, taking Ron into account since he;'s going to be MN-associated now regardless of what anyone but Ron and JB think.

And she's back to professional mode after letting her emotions loose. Good on her there.

Ron looked off to the side as one of the tugs honked its horn at them, followed by Jean Bart responding with her own. They'd gathered a neat little crowd, the relative peace of the Mediterranean meaning more people dared go out on the water. With Jean Bart now on her own, fewer could keep up and some turned back as it was clear they were heading out into deep water.

I just bet they got a crowd, you don't see this every day. And now she's on the sea, complete, and ready to show the world what she's made of. And this is the moment that she has dreamed of ever since manifesting....

Looking over to the shipgirl Ron smiled. Standing there with her hands on her hips, staring forward out into the sea and utterly fearless Jean Bart looked more at ease than she did most of the time on land. She caught him looking at her and she grinned, the cocky smirk matching how she stood.

Yep, this is her realm and she's the Queen of all she surveys. And damn, but she knows it!

"What do you say Captain? We're clear of the harbor and the Saint Mandrier." Jean Bart spoke up as she steered herself free of the remaining ships.

Looking from side to side, Ron saw nothing but ocean out in front of him, Jean Bart's raked bow cutting through the mild swell.

"Is there anything out in front of us?" he called back.

"There's a convoy we could meet in about three hours if we head full speed to the south. A few friends attached but nothing else unless you want to head to Corsica or the Balearics."

Good question, good answer here.

"Let's go say hello to your friends then Jean Bart. We're supposed to test your speed and endurance right?"

"That is true." There was a happy grin in the way Jean Bart spoke.

"Then let them know we're coming pleine vitesse and make it so."

Ron felt the lurch beneath him as Jean Bart's screws bit into the water, their speed picking up immediately from a mere fifteen to twenty knots and heading towards her top speed. He let out a whoop and went to stand by Jean Bart once more as they gazed out into the Mediterranean and a future, together.

Oh yeah, he knows what she LIKES! She's never been able to do this before with two shafts down and half her boilers offline. Now she's going to show the Med who the best, baddest, and fastest battleship is!

Ron, of course, is totally into the moment and that elan that he's showing is what she's eating up with a spoon.

AN: This took too long and I'm not super excited about it but I'd love to hear from all of you. Questions, comments etc very welcome.

I LOVE IT!!

Seriously, amazing work. I gave the more detailed feedback, already, but some overall notes. I have been waiting for this for months (ever since we batted around ideas regarding JB/Ron) and it didn't just 'not dissapoint' but Exceeds Expectations. Superb work and I cannot wait to see where this goes next!

Once again you and the other Authors produce excellent chapters... Broken_Mirror93's is a good example of someone who is no better then the Abyssals and RCNAnon, your's is simply heartwarming... Thank you both for excellently crafted chapters.

Have to second this, honestly!

A Pious Piano's Proper Practice Performance

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris, Paris

Saturday, 29th November, 2014

Ehren smiled at Claire as the piano spirit, who had taken the steps to the organ loft two at a time, reached her destination.

Claire stepped onto the balcony looking over the nave of the church and stopped dead at the sight. Her eyes grew wide and her face filled with a deep awed joy.

"Wow, he's beautiful! Right, Ehren?" Claire whispered reverently.

Not as beautiful as Tony when they finally meet. :p

While she was not and never would be the musician that her best Big Piano Sister was, Ehren was enough of one to enjoy the sight.

Dont sell yourself short Ehren,im sure youre a decent enough musician in your own right.

Automatically, she raised her camera phone on shaking hands to snap a photograph of the pipe organ.

You know it never cease to amaze me how we humans can construct stuff like this.

He then blushed slightly as Claire hugged him. "Thank you for taking good care of him!" The piano gushed.

Thats our Claire! :D

"Ahh, it was a labor of love for us all." Michel patted the varnished ancient wood with a fond smile on his face. "Our Lady of Paris deserves nothing less than such a magnificent instrument to make her sing joyfully unto the LORD our God."

Claire and Ehren nodded and made sounds of agreement.

Notre Dame certainly deserves the best here.

"And here we have the console for you, my dear." Father Michel leaned over Claire's shoulder to point out the fine details of the complex mixture of stops, pedals, and manuals that would bring the keyboard to life.

Kek! Getting Claire away from that console will be next to impossible once she starts playing.

"At last, that area was a rabbit warren! Now to find de Chasteler."

"She's over this way, I believe. At a minimum she's close."

With that ancient stonework shifted and warped under the influence of magic to let them finally out of the maze of medieval passages that they had found themselves in.

Morgana and Ogier i take it?

Ehren blinked as a clearly lost pair of German tourists appeared at the other end of the balcony. Both of them were dressed in souvenir T-shirts from the ancient city of Aachen along with blue jeans. The blonde and burly man's shirt referenced the city's role as capital of the Holy Roman Empire, dating back to Charlemagne. Meanwhile the pretty brunette by his side had a shirt about the Kaiserdom cathedral that Charlemagne had ordered constructed and then had been buried in.

Nice shirts they picked up.

The man looked her way and gave her a friendly smile. "{We seem to be rather lost, and aren't quite sure how we got up here,}"

You guys took a wrong turn at Albaquerque didnt you? :D

"Morgan. ...Oliver."

Variants of their actual names, easy to remember.

"{A pleasure to meet you both.}" Ehren said with a small smile. "This cathedral is quite beautiful, is it not? Over eight hundred and fifty years old!"

Ehren is going to boggle so hard when she learns who they are.

With that the piano concentrated and began to glow. Suddenly several sheets of vellum covered in handwritten musical notation from the early Eighteenth century formed in her hands as she magically transported them from her purse.

Father Michel stared in surprise. He then leaned closer to examine the score on the stand while Claire began to set the stops and tuning of the organ.

He frowned at the handwritten and archaic notation that had been written by a quill pen.

"My dear... this organist... what's his name?" He finally asked.

Claire's joy filled smile turned smugly trollish as she rested her fingers on the keys of the manuals and her feet on the pedals.

"Johann Sebastian Bach."

Claires having her fun!

Father Michel turned as white as one of the marble statues of saints around him as the first note of a piece of music he instantly recognized from his studies pealed joyfully through the cathedral.

A Father Michel boggle!

Down below on the main floor, Morgan Le Fay, Ogier the Dane, and Ehren du Chasteler all stopped dead as they exited the staircase from the organ loft. As the organ began to sing, their eyes grew wide in awe and delight.

"Mein Gott im Himmel!!"

More boggles!

At the console, Claire's lips parted in ecstasy as she awoke the organ to life.

Her ivory fingers gently caressed the keyboards of the manuals and her feet danced across the pedals as the Toccata swelled and soared in thunderous, perfect, magnificent notes that filled the vastness of Notre-Dame de Paris with the sound of musical bliss.

Claire is in her zone! Weaving her musical magic.

At her shoulder, Father Michel wept with joy and whispered a thankful prayer as he experienced the transcendent music of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor as the composer had written it down in his own hand while transcribing it from his heart and soul.

Claires playing has touched his soul!

The mighty voice of the organ joyfully rang out, turning the stone and wood, colored glass and golden altar pieces, statues and rose windows into elements of the transcendent beauty and joy of the Divine.

I bet that organ must be feeling quite honored with all this.

Colombe gave a proudly smug smile so wide that it hurt her face and whispered. "That's my little girl all right."

Kek! I put Colombes smug at a full 10 Juuchis.

Nearby, an ancient nun in a gray habit the color of the cornerstone of her true body briefly paused in her diligent labors.

Her avatar was worn and elderly with lines graven in her gentle and loving face, and yet unbowed by her centuries of patient humble labor within the vineyard of the LORD.

Her radiant joy-filled smile made her appear centuries younger, once more the slip of a young maiden that she had been when Pope Alexander III had blessed and hallowed her to give her the charge to watch over the flock of Paris as their Shepherdess.

Her dark eyes sparkled with a deep and abiding joy and delight as she treasured this moment when she sang once more for her flock. She then bowed her head to whisper a prayer of thanksgiving for this renewal of the wellspring of faith that she drew upon.

Notre Dame is immensely pleased here.

Cardinal Vingt-Trois paused his conversation with the priest serving as his secretary to listen to the music coming through the window into his office.

Once the last note finished, he reverently crossed himself along with his secretary. "Truly God is good to us sinners! Guiseppe, draft a letter of thanks to Archbishop Guy for his recommendation of this magical organist of his. Also, see if she would be amenable to reside in Paris and play regularly for Divine Services."

"Si, Your Eminence!"

And so is the good Cardinal.

Claire is truly a blessing upon the world.

At Café Deux Magots, across the Seine in the VIe arrondissement, a messy-haired and thin violinist in a well worn suit coat paused in his study of the documents spread out on the table in front of him. He closed his eyes and sipped his coffee slowly, concentrating on the faint notes coming from somewhere.

Automatically he hummed a contrapuntal melody to that Bach organ piece that someone had been playing which had caused his heartstrings to shiver.

'He'd have to thank Master Harry for assisting his musical studies when he saw him next after returning home to finish the preparations for his Waltz,' Antonio Potter concluded once he finished his coffee.

He then returned to the maps, travel guides, and books on musical history and schools spread out in front of him. 'Hmm.... So from France he could loop south by train to Madrid and then Andalusia before heading along the Riviera to Italy and then Vienna....'

Aha! heres Tony!

Please tell me what you think.

Its well written but well i would prefer these assholes to simply die.

AN: This took too long and I'm not super excited about it but I'd love to hear from all of you. Questions, comments etc very welcome.
Quality can take time.
Good as always. Makes me wish I was anywhere near as good. Perhaps in the future.
Have Ron and Massachusetts ever met?
He might be strong, he might be fast, but between Jonathon and the Twins he might be the only one to come back from the raid (the raid won't succeed BTW).
The problem with them is that the members of the tribe still are legal law-abiding citizens of Japan, while the oni, for all matters and purposes, don't legally exist. And Johnathan is also a magical priest, so he doesn't either. So... someone killing them might draw unwelcome attention from the law. Imagine them getting killed and one of them in the force fudging things enough so that the oni look to be the guilty party, instead of people defending themselves.
So... The core tenant of the Imperium of Mankind, then?
I did steal and butcher a catchphrase of the Imperium...
This is very VERY true. Anyway, I do really enjoy your snips a lot, honestly.
Thank you.
It was a really great snip, althugh I recommend that the meeting has 'hundreds' instead of 'thousands' since otherwise the Japanese Government would be much more likely to crush these folks.
Yeah, editing that. They also like to gather in places not easily seen, like the ruined village. Any idea for a name for the tribe?
Its well written but well i would prefer these assholes to simply die.
We will see in the future.
I also want to point they are the starter villains for Hide, Yoshi, Johnathan and the community.

Have a picture I stumbled over:

The thing is... that it is based on an actual design by Hiraga for a Kongou replacement:

Tzoli, who does various drawings based on various ships that were not built, did up one:
So yeah... a bit strange, but the design is basically a modification on the original Nagato design, hence how it works.
Here's another drawing of her.
Ah, the labor rage. Thankfully, it only lasts until they see the baby, otherwise the male population in the world would have been a lot smaller.
Every time I read about it, I thank God I'll never be a father myself.

A.N. -- A day in the life of the Du Chastelers. Prior snip here. Again, much gratitude for @LordSunhawk co-writing this with me.

10 Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession. 11 The rich man is wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. 12 When righteous men do rejoice, there is great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden. 13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. 14 Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 28:1014 (KJV)

Father Jacques raised an eyebrow at the flour trail leading through the doors of the chapel.

He shook his head fondly, noting that the hue and cry was starting to die down from where Misaki Fujii and Chihiro Arakaki had just tried to 'help' Ehren while she was baking cakes for her cousin Kenshou and for the household.

He smiled faintly, folding his hands inside his cassock, then idly paced towards the sacristy, totally not following the flour trail at all. After all, what flour trail, certainly the youngsters wouldn't violate the sanctity of the chapel and sacristy with their mischief, non?

He managed to keep his face perfectly serene, while wanting to smirk, as he entered the sacristy and busied himself with checking over the sacramental vessels, humming Frère Jacques while he worked.

A strong and confident set of steps sounded from the chapel outside. He immediately identified the familiar footsteps of Colombe. Clearly the authorities were diligently searching for wrongdoers.

"Father, by chance have you seen the Imps?" Colombe asked as she scanned the deserted chapel. "I have some badly dirtied cake pans for them to scrub. Especially the ones covered with flour from the mess they made in the kitchen."

The old priest smiled fondly, pointedly glancing down at the flour trail with a faint twinkle in his eye. "I have seen neither hair nor hide of them, my dear lady." he said placidly. "Although I am quite certain that they meant no harm with whatever small mischief they may have gotten up to. With flour you say? Were they perhaps attempting to bake?"

Colombe barked a laugh and leaned against a pew, her lips tugging in a smile. "One might say that. Attempting is the word that I would use. Ehren was preparing an apple cake for her cousin Kenshou, and they snuck in to 'help' her taste test the batter while her back was turned. The large bag of flour was spilled… onto Beethoven, as it turned out, who was trying to butter Ehren up for a taste of the milk." The smile widened. "He got butter all right! An entire stick's worth on the floor when the chaos truly started."

"Ach so." the elderly priest replied in a voice patterned on Ehren's, his own lips twitching into a grin for a moment. "I remember when I attempted to help my mother with baking a time or two. Did you know that a cloud of flour can be rather explosive?" he sighed. "My mother was most unamused, and I daresay that my backside made a rather intimate acquaintance with a wooden spoon after that little adventure."

"Fortunately, no permanent damage was done. And yes, I actually did know that powdered flour is explosive. I used that to explode a grain silo in Leopoldville during 1895 to get away from an assassination squad sent by Hippolyte to kill me. Ehren did mention one of the long wooden spoons with evil intentions present toward the backsides of malefactors, yes. Although I informed her that she would have 'volunteers' scrubbing the cake pans clean until they sparkle once her cake rises. 'Let the punishment fit the crime' was my judgement as Marchioness." Colombe shook her head, carefully observing the sacristy out of the corner of her eye. "I am an indifferent baker, truth be told. Any recipe past the most simple and I get lost in the details -- generally with disastrous results -- just as with my potion crafting. Ehren has the diligence her poor mother lacks to be a mistress of the kitchens."

"Indeed, a wise and enlightened response, after all, the quality of mercy is not strained for the repentant at heart." he said with a grin, washing his hands and wandering over towards the closet where his vestments were hung… and where the flour trail terminated. "And no doubt penitent volunteers would be awarded with forgiveness… and mayhaps a taste of cake as well, no?" The good father deliberately leaned on the wall next to the door with his foot positioned just so to keep it from opening more than it was. "Although it is to be hoped that they would yield themselves to the Marchioness' mercy on their own volition, after all, true mercy comes to those who confess their wrongdoings willingly, yes?"

Colombe raised an eyebrow at the slightly ajar closet door, her eyes flicking down to the flour trail and then back up to the Father. Her lips quirked briefly while she casually leaned against the door frame to the chapel and nodded to him. "Well said, Father. I prefer Shakespeare personally. 'The quality of mercy is not strained; It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest; It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:' That said, any such confession should perhaps be done soon, for I fear once that cinnamon apple cake is cooled from the oven, it will be boxed away and sent to Hogwarts and away from penitent stomachs…." She trailed off with clear anticipation. "Especially since those are the last of the Autumn crop of apples from my orchard; so fresh, sweet and tender! I can't wait for my lion's share of the other cake!"

Colombe's lip quirks intensified as her sharp ears picked up whispered words of Japanese back and forth from the closet, although her face remained quite solemn and judicially stern should anyone see her face.

The elderly priest managed to keep a suitably grave expression on his face, even as he felt pressure on his foot as the imps tried to open the door. "Dear me, My Lady, I fear that there may be gremlins in the Sacristy."

"Mon Dieu! Gremlins!! After my apple cake?! We'll have to eat it now and leave the soiled pans for the latecomers!"

Clearly the stage had lost a great actress in the Marchioness of Moulbaix and Chasteler when she took up her career as 'professional troublemaker'.

"I do believe we must summon Cortana to properly deal with such an infestation." he said wisely, as the pressure increased on his foot. "And, of course, reward her with a fresh slice of the apple cake for her service."

"Of course! Such is a suitable reward after she gives me service in such a matter as cleaning cake pans or dealing with gremlin infestations in the sacristy!"

The 'gremlins' at this point chorused out from the closet. "We're really sorry Colombe-sama!" "Really REALLY sorry!" "We won't do it again!"

Colombe restrained her triumphant smirk with a singular effort of will.

The good Father smiled a bit and removed his foot just as the next push occurred on the door, leading to a flour-spattered tanuki and jorogumo spilling out of the closet. "Oh dear me, I do believe that we have our gremlins." he said with a gentle expression of surprise. "And goodness me, will you look at the flour that they've tracked in! This will not do at all." he shook his head in sadness. "I do believe that the very well behaved children of the Castle have been abducted and replaced by gremlins, My Lady. We should ensure the safety of all, and especially the apple cake now that I think of it, before greater mischief should occur."

Colombe nodded, then glanced at Father Jacques. "Run some water for them, please. They'll need it in a moment." Her voice acquired an air of aristocratic command as the Imps picked themselves off the floor.

The old priest smiled and did so, making use of the basin in the sacristy. "By your command, my lady."

Colombe then waved her hand in a S shape. "Scourgify!" A wave of magic cleaned up the flour on the floor, the vestments, and the Imps, leaving them with matching disgusted faces at the taste of soap as a byproduct of the cleaning spell. "Go ahead and rinse your mouths out and then spit it in the sink, children, that will clear the taste. It's a byproduct of the Scouring Charm being cast on a person."

"I am eternally grateful that my mother did not know that charm." the priest said with a faint smile.

"You and me both, Father. You and me both." Colombe said with a shake of her head as the Imps washed the taste out of their mouths. "They should be glad that I don't know quite where Papa put away the switches he used to tan my breeches upon occasion for things that were… sometimes my fault."

Colombe then knelt and gently head patted the Imps. "I'll make sure that some cake is saved for these gremlins after they clean the pans." She stood, "I'll handle the chapel too for you father."

"No need, I am no stranger to mop and bucket, my dear lady, and the labor is good for the soul. I wouldn't object if some assistants were to appear with small brushes to get into the places a mop cannot go, of course." he smiled and ruffled the imp's hair. "I do hope that the promise of saving some of Ehren's wonderful apfelkuchen is extended to a hard working priest watering and tending the garden of the Lord."

"Of course. I'll see if Curtana wants to volunteer and Ehren has survived washing Beethoven if assistants don't otherwise materialize in response to your prayers. I can confirm that your prayers for apple cake will be answered if I have anything to say about it." Colombe replied with a fond smile.

Suddenly a musical squee of joy echoed through Moulbaix, causing priest, rapier, and gremlins alike to look that way.

"What's gotten into Claire?" Colombe asked the room.

Father Jacques smiled beatifically. "I believe that my efforts on her behalf to secure permission to play the organ at Notre-Dame de Paris when we journey there this weekend may have borne fruit."

"Bless you Father!" Colombe replied.

I thought that these xenocidal F**KS were in HELL.
I think the most accurate words here are.... Not Yet, But Soon.

So, they wouldn't dare to attack a place this heavily defended.
In the words of a great writer, "Never underestimate the Stupidity of Stupid People in Large groups"

I thought his name was Ron, not Jean-Luke... :D

Not as beautiful as Tony when they finally meet. :p

Well no. But Claire enjoys a well-crafted pipe organ (and the Church is beautiful too!)

Dont sell yourself short Ehren,im sure youre a decent enough musician in your own right.

She is pretty good thanks to Claire's tutoring of her and some talent. It's just that she's grading herself against a legendary musician on a scale and also her passions don't exactly fall in this area. Ehren's good, but she doesn't drink, eat, sleep and breathe MUSIC the way Claire and Tony do (or Ron does for engineering say).

You know it never cease to amaze me how we humans can construct stuff like this.

Oh yes, the more so since both of which were done by hand and eye in large part (the church and organ both; the organ dates from 1868, although it has been rebuilt and refurbished several times since then). But yes, that's the kind of photo that just shows the sheer scale and complexity of the organ.

If you can't tell, Claire is really really excited and beside herself. So she's gushing more than normal. Father Michel is blushing a bit since this pretty girl is as excited as his sister's kids on their birthdays and it's contagious.

Ehren, meanwhile, is not even trying to stifle the fond smirk at her sister's antics.

Notre Dame certainly deserves the best here.

It's a magnificent organ. This is a bit of a 'is she good enough to play organ in ND?' audition as well for Claire (which she passes with flying colors on her first piece). Brother Michel is a pretty good organist himself, which is why he is escorting her.

Kek! Getting Claire away from that console will be next to impossible once she starts playing.

She eventually shuts it down. AFTER making Notre-Dame a very happy church full of music. And pouting a little when she's told that her family is waiting for her.

Morgana and Ogier i take it?

Got it in one.

Nice shirts they picked up.

Thank you, and a hint to what was going on.

You guys took a wrong turn at Albaquerque didnt you? :D

Yeah, about that. What happened was after we last saw them in Africa, they needed to get to Europe and try to track down their 'stolen items' (Curtana and the scrolls). So they ported to Aachen as an area Ogier knew well enough to transport in and wound up in the basement of the Kaiserdom cathedral there (which had a magically screened area for such arrivals as part of the basic structure) which dates to Charlemagne.

So far, so good, but they still couldn't pinpoint exactly where Curtana was thanks to Colombe's wards on Moulbaix that kept the ICW out of her home. So they did some researching of the changes to the world and magic... and then suddenly Morgana got a hard target lock when Curtana and company headed to Paris.

So she decided to port them there and retrieve the sword.

So they Appartated to Saint Etienne... which hasnt existed since 1163 as is. Fortunately for them, the access room in Saint Etienne was intact. UNFORTUNATELY for them, it was buried as now part of the foundations of Notre-Dame de Paris. So while Morgana got them out of being stuck in a forgotten bricked in room, they wound up in the Cathedral's crypts (in very close proximity to Curtana, but with no fucking clue which end was up).

So they got to wander around in a building they have never been in and that is fairly architecturally complex to boot. Including one or two magically screened passages, stairs, and the like that someone put in during the 1100-1200s that aren't on some of the blueprints.

So they got thoroughly lost and finally got out of the maze of passages onto the organ loft in front of Ehren. Morgana, who is used to being more in control of the situation normally, is pretty grumpy.

Variants of their actual names, easy to remember.

Not... quite. For Ogier, since he found out that his real name isn't commonly used, elected to take the alias as one of his fellow Paladins (Oliver) who bit it alongside Roland at Roncevaux since that's a more common name and he can pass for British.

Also he has some suspicions about Ehren being the same girl that they saw in Scotty's memories. Although she's not a vampire and doesn't quite have the tits that Scotty thought she did*, which is throwing Ogier's target ID. (Morgana isn't nearly as suspicious since she can tell that Ehren's no vampire but a spirit instead)

*Wishful thinking from an unreliable narrator here. Scotty had pegged Ehren as about a cup size and a half higher than reality mentally once he got her undressed (as if!).

Ehren is going to boggle so hard when she learns who they are.

Ehren also has faint bells ringing here since she saw these two before (in 1942 right when she got stuck in Mutti). That said, that is a seriously a traumatic memory, she was distracted at the time and barely aware, and the lack of medieval clothing is throwing her too.

Claires having her fun!

Claire is very much having fun and let her Muramasa heritage shine through by letting Fr. Michel know that yes, that's Bach's handwriting on the manuscript score that he composed for a patron of his (every music school's library and museum in existence would give a lot to have those pages laying out BWV 565 since the earliest one we have is a generation later written down by a pupil of a pupil who heard it).

A Father Michel boggle!

Big one too. He didn't expect this, although the Toccata and Fugue is a pretty common organ piece for a warmup.

A trio of boggles. That exclamation was from all three of them (Morgan and Ogier were hearing this for the first time and it's a hell of an introduction to pipe organ music, Ehren... well she knows the piece but first time Claire has played it for her)

Claire is in her zone! Weaving her musical magic.

Claire's really in her happy place making a cathedral SING and everyone hapopy with her music.

Claires playing has touched his soul!

Well yes, he's experiencing the transcendent awe of the Divine here.

I bet that organ must be feeling quite honored with all this.

The organ is a very very happy organ. While Claire's up there in her mastery of it, I'll note that this is the highest prestige pipe organ in France to play (and one of the most noted int he world), so Claire has some really stiff competition for 'best organist to play him'. Still, she's staking her claim.

Kek! I put Colombes smug at a full 10 Juuchis.

Absolutely. Colombe knows who's responsible for this moment of bliss and is beside herself with smug. Not that it's hard to figure out since Claire had been babbling constantly about this organ since before they left Moulbaix.

Notre Dame is immensely pleased here.

Well yes. Notre Dame is immensely pleased and looks forward to this young lady sharing her blessing of melody with her and her flock in the future.

And so is the good Cardinal.

He's no musician, but knows the touch of genius and greatness when he can hear it. Claire's audition to play in his cathedral was passed with flying colors and her name will be further spread amongst the episcopate. (In other words, if Claire's known to be coming to someone's town, she can expect to get invitations to play for Divine Services from the local bishop down the road).

Claire is truly a blessing upon the world.

She really really is, and this is her spreading the joy of music to all in earshot.

Yep, and a near-miss on their romance that he and his wife will laugh about much later when they put the pieces together.

He'd headed to Paris to do some research and stretch his legs for a bit, and after he gets done here will return to the German Potter Estate. He was just barely in earshot of Claire playing (although he had no clue where the music was coming from and could barely make it out above the sounds of Paris) and he was impressed by the Mystery Organist's skills and talent.

Good as always. Makes me wish I was anywhere near as good. Perhaps in the future.

Trite as the saying is, practice really does make perfect. The key is just to keep writing and look to improve as best you can each time. You're doing very well, honestly.

You're welcome!

Yeah, editing that. They also like to gather in places not easily seen, like the ruined village. Any idea for a name for the tribe?

Hmm.... No real clue for a name, I'd almost suggest making something up in English like 'thunderborn' or 'sons of lightning' and then running it through a translation program.

Have a picture I stumbled over:

Very nice! I'll have to share it with Wickedest Card, who created CDP and whose character this is.

Nice bit of slice of life.

Little shits are good at egging each other on, it seems. Both feline and yokai variety.

Yeah. Well the feline little shit was working over Ehren to get some of the milk and the like being used by her to bake. Then the Yokai little shits happened, matters escalated, and the feline little shit got his milk -- after the bath.

Feline little shit is not a terribly happy camper at the moment. Neither is Ehren, but she was persuaded to 'go and get cleaned up and take the cat with you, we'll finish up here' by Colombe, Miho, and Kasuyu who headed to the sound of the ruckus.

"Mou, the Mizuchi changed the link to part one."

"I would have gotten away with it too if it wasn't for those meddling kids and their pet Mizuchi!"

(Fixed)

Good snippet. Colombe and Father Jacques playing Good Cop Bad Cop was hilarious.

Thank you, thank you, Sunhawk told me that we needed to do something with the Imps, and... yeah. It helps that Colombe is a mother and knows how to play Bad Cop when needed.

Once again you and the other Authors produce excellent chapters... Broken_Mirror93's is a good example of someone who is no better then the Abyssals and RCNAnon, your's is simply heartwa
Thanks! I'm not always the best when it comes to reading how other people feel about my stuff, especially since it's so often low key interpersonal actions, so I love hearing that.

It didn't take long for Jeane Bart to summon her hull. Are they wanting to give her hull sea trials?
It didn't look like Jean Bart was actually trying to, but she had to do something with the onrush of spiritual power she was being flooded with. A certain Mr. Jones sticking his oar in, perhaps, since it started when she made contact with Ron?
rdm is correct in this case. She was going to do her sea trials in shipgirl size but something gave her a bit of a boost this time around...

Great look at JB and how she's nervous and excited about her big day and also adjusting to the changes in her spirit (not being incomplete for starters). Good for Riche helping keep her grounded and under control here.
Thank you, thank you. Jean Bart is still adjusting to her new reality and will be for some time so she'll be a little out of whack. One thing she is getting a better understanding for is just how Richie is so high energy all the time.

Yup. There's a major confluence of things happening here which allow JB to summon her hull. She's mellowed out, contrary to appearances, Ron is settling in to his role as champion and Mister Jones... well he's got his own plans.

Yeah, exactly. JB is about ten to twenty years early for the necessary spiritual weight otherwise, as she and Richie only went away in the sixties and JB just never had a large crew to give her the oomph otherwise.

Cue massive boggles all over Toulon. This was a show stopper, since that is NOT a small thing, no sir.

Also this is probably something that JB can hold over Riche for a while since I'm pretty sure exactly ONE French BB can summon her hull currently, and Big Sis Pervertbote ain't her...
Yup some big boggles all around. Especially since Toulon is normally pretty quiet compared to some other shipgirl ports.

JB will certainly hold it over Richie as long as she can!

Now this is also going to be one of the moments Ron would use to summon his Patronus (alongside Warspite, Duke, and eventually Isabella doing this), and also a moment that JB will cherish forever.
Yeah, Ron's got plenty of memories for a patronus this time around and his summon... well gotta make some changes.

Yep. Boggling FBB. BIG Boggle. 43,992 tons of Boggle in fact.

Also this was a great Ron moment, He's so happy for her and doesn;t care that she;s in shock or he's committing a public display of affection with a French battleship in the middle of a naval base.
Yup, big boggles because JB certainly didn't do that on purpose.

Yeah, it's only a hug but he's much better at mild PDA and showing affection in general. It helps that Jean Bart has gone full dere from her previously tsun/kuu behavior.

Yep. This means a LOT to her., She's breaking out the French endearments. Methinks the boilers are runnign hot and purring for her. Also this was a nice scene of her giving him the status that she feels that he both deserves and has earned in her eyes, while accepting that Warspite and Duke have their own claims.
Yeah, JB is most definitely running hot right now. Hot and at 165-170k shp instead of her rate 155. Even so she's close enough now with Duke and Warspite she's perfectly fine with sharing so Ron gets all due respect.

I'll note that at least some of the discussion from behind the happy couple is probably deciding which bistro with a well stocked wine cellar they will use for the 'informal debrief'. Because someone back there will need a stiff drink to process this event.

Good for Charpentier riding herd on his subordinates.
Yup, a briefing on possible "magic" is one thing. Seeing a full sized Richelieu class rise out of the water next to you is entirely different.

Charpentier is a good officer all the way down, so he knows if a shipgirl says that person boards first, that person boards first.

Ron is also VERY excited, since while he knows her intimately inside and out, and this is his improvements to her design... yeah. She's got a lot of presence.
Yes, Ron at heart is and will always partially be a boy who loves cool mechanical things because they're big, complex and do amazing things. That is part of one of his loves is just a cherry on top.

Peak. Ron. Her spirit is beautiful and her hull is magnificent. And he says that to her, which gets her all KINDS of doki-doki for him. Those six boilers are running hot for you, my boy.

(He's also looking at the main battery and not JB, and she knows that he's admiring some of her best features)
Yeah, Ron's kinda dense but by this point he's very much picked up that JB is fine with compliments to her girl self but she really loves when he talks about her hull. It helps he finds both very interesting. He loves all of her and yes, she's doki doki to the max.

Yeah... I've got some stuff planned in the next few snips which will show how she feels about him. You're not wrong though!

That makes perfect sense, and this very much is something that she's goign to eat up like a chocolate lunch. Since she gets a chance to show why she's the best battleship ever launched (as she sees it) to an audience for her sea trials.
Yup. Sea trials are kinda silly for Shipgirls but they are necessary so this makes it easier on both.

Pro forma final exam of course. That said, this also lets Ron strut his stuff, talk sweet nothings to her as he shows her design features and improvements off, and lets him get a feel for her hull's lines.

Ron picks up on this and makes a minor move on her, which she enjoys.
Yeah, this is mostly "How much can you talk dirty engineering to me while we keep these schmucks fine gentleman entertained."

The small of her back is going to be one of those places for a long time, since JB and Ron both know what can happen is he got serious.

Yeah, this was a great little sweet scene showing how compatible they are. Message received and understood. And she;s very VERY happy with you.
Yup, very happy with the sweet nothings and Ron knows her to the point a smile is enough.

Yeah, Charpentier cna read the romance flags here and that she needs to spend time with Ron. Good man to run interference so she can do what she needs to do
He didn't get where he was by being blind. Plus it gives him time to sort out his men. He's been paying attention as well.

Yep, saw that coming. Ron just got his tonsils cleaned. BIGTIME. Her faerie crew are being scarce (and paying out some wagers) since they know the first man to interrupt THIS CONVERSATION with her love will get keelhauled.
Yeah, barring abyssal attack nobody was going to bother them. Not with how JB is feeling. She definitely needed at least a little Ron time and he's now getting a better feel of what having a French girlfriend actually means.

Yep. She makes it official and binds him to her. And Ron knows how much of a big step this is for their relationship both personally and professionally.
Very, very big step for JB personally since she's not always open with people but Ron's earned that trust and does know what it means.

Ron has gotten very good at reading her by this point so he can tell when she's open to things. Right then she was very open so he showed her the affection she needed and yes, very much took the lead which she will remember.

Richie will very much be picking JBs brain once she's done with her own refit

Oh yeah, he's gone from desiring to make he rbody his, to make her hull and firepower his. Which again is a ncie side of Ron to see since she is raw power as the Queen of the Seas that she was constructed to be. And she's now going to put that at his command (albeit adviced by older and wiser heads such as Charpentier, JB, and her Faerie command staff).
They are both so very looking forward to this. JB to show off and to get a feel for what she can really do, Ron because we'll... he's got a real live battleship that's been ordered to essentially go play! Everybody wins! (Even Charpentier, much as he won't show it.)

Heh, taking Ron into account since he;'s going to be MN-associated now regardless of what anyone but Ron and JB think.

And she's back to professional mode after letting her emotions loose. Good on her there.
Yeah, the people in the know are already making notes on how well Ron works with both sides.

I just bet they got a crowd, you don't see this every day. And now she's on the sea, complete, and ready to show the world what she's made of. And this is the moment that she has dreamed of ever since manifesting....
Yep. This is perfect for her, especially because of the crowd and Ron in her bridge.

Yep, this is her realm and she's the Queen of all she surveys. And damn, but she knows it!
Oh yes she does. She's going to let everyone know it.

Yup! They know each other, they know what each of them like and it's time to show the world what JB can do.

Thanks man! Seriously, appreciate the comments and it always helps me out words to the thoughts running through my head. Very happy to hear it's up to standard and more.

Quality can take time.
I'd agree if I didn't spend most of the time bashing my head against the wall and then crank out 2k words over a few hours. The muse is fickle.

Good as always. Makes me wish I was anywhere near as good. Perhaps in the future.
Just keep writing man, you've got the talent. Almost no writer thinks they're good.

Have Ron and Massachusetts ever met?
No, if only because there's been little reason for Ron and her to meet. Certainly not against it happening though!

Induite Vos Arma Dei (IV)
Let me just say I've been loving this whole arc! Claire, Ehren, the imps and everyone has been great. A little SOL between all the excitement is just what the Father ordered.

I thought his name was Ron, not Jean-Luke... :D
Hey, nobody said you can't use a good line! Especially when it's a naval classic. :D

Induite Vos Arma Dei (IV)
Quite honestly one of the funniest chapters I've read... The good Father and Colombe were having a blast and recalling some of their own mischief from the good old days as kids... most probably the Scourgify coupled with cleaning the pans will be the extent of the punishment.  :rofl::lol::lol:

Thanks! I'm not always the best when it comes to reading how other people feel about my stuff, especially since it's so often low key interpersonal actions, so I love hearing that.

QFT.

Us authors really enjoy feedback. Tell us what you like, tell us why you dislike parts, and what we could perhaps do better and we're happy folks.

Thank you, thank you. Jean Bart is still adjusting to her new reality and will be for some time so she'll be a little out of whack. One thing she is getting a better understanding for is just how Richie is so high energy all the time.

Yep. Fortunately she's got some things to focus her energies on such as Ron being along for her 'sea trials' to show off her refit.

Yup. There's a major confluence of things happening here which allow JB to summon her hull. She's mellowed out, contrary to appearances, Ron is settling in to his role as champion and Mister Jones... well he's got his own plans.

Yeah, and Ron's job is to help further Mr. Jones' plans. Clearly part of which is getting him to sail around on a battleship.

Yeah, exactly. JB is about ten to twenty years early for the necessary spiritual weight otherwise, as she and Richie only went away in the sixties and JB just never had a large crew to give her the oomph otherwise.

True, true. As a side note, Mika when she Awakened did a bit of a minor variant on 'summon your hull' by extending and manifesting her spiritual hull enough to use it to block the shots that otherwise would have sunk the trawler that she was just on (albeit taking a lot of abuse int he process, but she's designed to slug it out and take a beating). That was WBCW (with Davey's permission) letting her flex spiritually to do that. Normally Mika won't be able to summon her hull until much later on whens he can manifest enough Legend to do so (although St. Kitts helped a lot int hat regard since it put her on the map).

As for JB, she's about to start establishing her Legend (and that of her CO Capitaine Weasley) right here and now....

Yup some big boggles all around. Especially since Toulon is normally pretty quiet compared to some other shipgirl ports.

Yep, this really was a show-stopper and JB will no doubt preen a little if and when she finds out that a few photos of her at anchor and heading out of port may have gone viral....

JB will certainly hold it over Richie as long as she can!

Of course. It's plentiful ammo for giving her beloved big sister shit!

Yeah, Ron's got plenty of memories for a patronus this time around and his summon... well gotta make some changes.

Hmm, not a fan of the Jack Russel terrier too? Well I look forward to when you get to that point, certainly Ron has plenty of positive memories to fuel it now.

Yup, big boggles because JB certainly didn't do that on purpose.

True, true. That said, she's certainly happy with the results! (I figure she is Riche's sister enough, and French enough, to be eating the attention up with a spoon when she stops half of the town to boggle at her elegant looks at anchor and under way).

Yeah, it's only a hug but he's much better at mild PDA and showing affection in general. It helps that Jean Bart has gone full dere from her previously tsun/kuu behavior.

True, and she has plenty of reasons to be quite dere for him. I wouldn;t say that this is the happiest moment of her life (her wedding day to Ron and the birth of her children with him will be well up there too), but it's in the running, certainly.

Yeah, JB is most definitely running hot right now. Hot and at 165-170k shp instead of her rate 155. Even so she's close enough now with Duke and Warspite she's perfectly fine with sharing so Ron gets all due respect.

True, true, which is showing how she fits in so well with the Fleet even though this is her 'big day' in a very real sense.

Yup, a briefing on possible "magic" is one thing. Seeing a full sized Richelieu class rise out of the water next to you is entirely different.

Yeah. Especially for the knowledgeable sorts who are realizing that she's not just stock but better than the original design.

Charpentier is a good officer all the way down, so he knows if a shipgirl says that person boards first, that person boards first.

True, and he also has gotten a pretty good idea about what JB sees in this young man.

Yes, Ron at heart is and will always partially be a boy who loves cool mechanical things because they're big, complex and do amazing things. That is part of one of his loves is just a cherry on top.

That came across very very well here, You can tell that he's a little boy in Santa's Toy Workshop here and that one of his loves is showing her hull off for him is just the cherry and sprinkles on the hot fudge sundae of his life as you said.

Yeah, Ron's kinda dense but by this point he's very much picked up that JB is fine with compliments to her girl self but she really loves when he talks about her hull. It helps he finds both very interesting. He loves all of her and yes, she's doki doki to the max.

Oh yes, she loves for him to talk dirty engineering to her while gushing over her formidable capabilities and design. And he does love her all, ship and girl here.

Yeah... I've got some stuff planned in the next few snips which will show how she feels about him. You're not wrong though!

Looking forward to it. (Also poor JB probably is getting a few 'helpful unsolicited suggestions' from her silly pervert of a big sister to help 'demonstrate her appreciation' toward M. Weasley. I'm sure at least some of the earlier sibling gossip-fest from Riche was prodding JB into expounding on the some of the good qualities of M. Weasley. At length and in extensive detail.)

Yup. Sea trials are kinda silly for Shipgirls but they are necessary so this makes it easier on both.

True, but in her case it is a bit of a 'test the refit' moment, so she needs to do it.

Yeah, this is mostly "How much can you talk dirty engineering to me while we keep these schmucks fine gentleman entertained."

Oh yes! She knows what she likes, he knows what she likes, and he is willing to provide exactly the kind of thing that she likes while showing how much he admires what he likes about her (which she likes!). Hopefully she swung by her galley to grab a really big spoon to eat this up with....

The small of her back is going to be one of those places for a long time, since JB and Ron both know what can happen is he got serious.

True, and it's also where M. Weasely's magic fingers are divine at working out that knot her class sometines gets in their keels around Frame 59 (IIRC). So a known weak point of hers that he can take advantage of to show affection.

Yup, very happy with the sweet nothings and Ron knows her to the point a smile is enough.

Oh yes, he could tell that she was eating it up and is very very happy, which makes him happy.

He didn't get where he was by being blind. Plus it gives him time to sort out his men. He's been paying attention as well.

Oh yes, he's probably impressed by what he's seeing here. He also looks to be the kind of man who will go very far in the flag ranks with this kind of insight and professionalism.

Yeah, barring abyssal attack nobody was going to bother them. Not with how JB is feeling. She definitely needed at least a little Ron time and he's now getting a better feel of what having a French girlfriend actually means.

Oh yes. Ron's now aware that he's in for quite a fun ride with her. Especially when he pushes her buttons by complimenting her spirit and her hull and building her up as a result.

Very, very big step for JB personally since she's not always open with people but Ron's earned that trust and does know what it means.

Yeah, this was huge for her. No doubt this will be spilled early and in loving detail once Riche corners JB to wring the report out of her.

Ron has gotten very good at reading her by this point so he can tell when she's open to things. Right then she was very open so he showed her the affection she needed and yes, very much took the lead which she will remember.

Oh yes, it was the perfect time to make his intentions and desires for her crystal clear (good job on training this gentleman-to-be up on how to pick his shots, Warspite, Duke, and Victoria!). Which again builds her up, since she's aware that when the time comes to progress further in their adult relationship, well he's going to do exactly what she desires for him to do with her.

Richie will very much be picking JBs brain once she's done with her own refit

Yeah, Riche fully intends to wring all the gossip that she can out of her kid sister's big day with her boyfriend. In large part because JB will want to spill how happy she is.

They are both so very looking forward to this. JB to show off and to get a feel for what she can really do, Ron because we'll... he's got a real live battleship that's been ordered to essentially go play! Everybody wins! (Even Charpentier, much as he won't show it.)

Yeah, as I said, he's a little boy in Santa's Workshop right now. As is she, since she has dreamed about being sent out to rule the waves since the day she manifested. And now her dreams are coming true.

Yeah, the people in the know are already making notes on how well Ron works with both sides.

Yeah, Ron is definitely goting to have a glowing report circulating around Paris and Toulon with their observations of him.

Yep. This is perfect for her, especially because of the crowd and Ron in her bridge.

Yeah, so much elan for her. She knows that she's the center of attention as a symbol of France, and French pride and loves the hell out of it, especially with her captain on her bridge commanding her for her maiden cruise.

Oh yes she does. She's going to let everyone know it.

Oh yes, she's finally complete and able to do what she was meant to do.

Yup! They know each other, they know what each of them like and it's time to show the world what JB can do.

Yeah, it is subtle, but she really did want to stretch her legs and see her speed, so yes, pliene vitesse is the order of the day for her now.

Thanks man! Seriously, appreciate the comments and it always helps me out words to the thoughts running through my head. Very happy to hear it's up to standard and more.

It really is, and yes, this was great stuff. I know the feeling, I always think mine need a litle more polish here and there when I go back and reread them.

I'd agree if I didn't spend most of the time bashing my head against the wall and then crank out 2k words over a few hours. The muse is fickle.

Believe me, I know. It happens for me. Sometimes it all comes at once and other times it's like sucking a bowling ball through a straw.

Just keep writing man, you've got the talent. Almost no writer thinks they're good.

QFT again. I feel that way about a good chunk of my stuff.

Let me just say I've been loving this whole arc! Claire, Ehren, the imps and everyone has been great. A little SOL between all the excitement is just what the Father ordered.

Thank you, and yes, Sunhawk argued me into this snip and I'm glad that he did.

Quite honestly one of the funniest chapters I've read... The good Father and Colombe were having a blast and recalling some of their own mischief from the good old days as kids... most probably the Scourgify coupled with cleaning the pans will be the extent of the punishment.  :rofl::lol::lol:

Yes, the Scourgify plus helping clean up the messes they made is the limit of it all. And they do get some cinnamon apple cake!

Wishful thinking from an unreliable narrator here. Scotty had pegged Ehren as about a cup size and a half higher than reality mentally once he got her undressed (as if!).

Wishful thinking on multiple grounds, actually:
  1. Overestimating Ehren's bust size
  2. Vastly overestimating the chance Wolff would let him anywhere near Ehren
  3. Vastly overestimating the chances Ehren would be interested in him.

Wishful thinking on multiple grounds, actually:
  1. Overestimating Ehren's bust size
  2. Vastly overestimating the chance Wolff would let him anywhere near Ehren
  3. Vastly overestimating the chances Ehren would be interested in him.

Well yes on all three counts.

It says a lot that it would have been more merciful for him if Ehren had drawn steel and gutted him like a fish as opposed to what her Vati would have done to him if he had found out (as one might guess, the man was a serious Papa Wolf when it came to his blushing innocent virginal Aryan Tochter*). Also, Ehren already has her eye on a boy TYVM and Scotty isn't him (granted, she wasn't goign to tell Vati or anyone else present that she was kinda-sorta-interested in Draco).

*Two out of four isn't bad for Vatipire. Ehren's a virgin and 100% Aryan on the avatar. Blushing is a maybe depending on circumstances and she's no innocent when it cones to knowledge (as one might expect from Colombe's daughteru).

...Okay. That was funny. And adorable.
The key is just to keep writing and look to improve as best you can each time. You're doing very well, honestly.
That's why I'm here. That, and wanting to share my ideas with others.
Hmm.... No real clue for a name, I'd almost suggest making something up in English like 'thunderborn' or 'sons of lightning' and then running it through a translation program.
Why thunder or lightning? They have an obsession with the purity of human blood, or does thunder and lightning have some accusation with purity I'm not aware of.
Trite as the saying is, practice really does make perfect. The key is just to keep writing and look to improve as best you can each time. You're doing very well, honestly.
Just keep writing man, you've got the talent. Almost no writer thinks they're good.
Well... Now I'm a little motivated!
No, if only because there's been little reason for Ron and her to meet. Certainly not against it happening though!
In AL Mass is very happy about Jean Bart being complete, mainly because she didn't like fighting someone who couldn't fight back properly. So, here, it makes sense that she wants to meet the one who helped JB with her incomplete state. What I really don't get is the ship between Mass and JB...

I'm back from the gym and had an idea for the next part of Hide and Yoshi. Is this what they call 'feeling the Burn'?

With a smile, Yoshi exited the church. The trees surrounding the church had been cut down and over 30 tents had been erected. The ringing of Tatara's anvil could be heard loud and clear over the busily working oni.
He had heard from the oni just how terrible the situation in the reservations was, how the guards made it obvious that they hated being there, hated those they were supposed to watch, and wished for nothing else but for them all to disappear. How the often lacked enough food for everyone and how often plagues decimated the population.
Now, under the attentive eye of the priest who lived in the church and happily handed out everything the refugees needed... they could build a home.
The hanyou hummed. Johnathan was still a mystery to him. Where did he draw those supplies from? What was the secret of his inhuman might? Who, exactly, were those comrades he spoke so fondly of?
... And most importantly... why did he forbid him and his sister from returning to the church's living quarters until called?
He shrugged. He would learn in the future. Of that... he was certain.
With purposeful strides, he walked in the direction of Tatara's tent. The red-skinned horned blacksmith was performing his work on the small field smithy the priest had provided. The iron he hammered was from the generous colossus' stockpile as well.
...It was almost as if he had expected to run into people trying to find a place to call home.

"Yoshi! Great to see you!" the blacksmith called out as soon as he saw the one-horned man. He looked around. Several spearheads, right next to finished hoes.
"You as well, Tatara." The hanyou noticed the full blood stare at something over his shoulder: The hilt of his odachi. A smile. "Would you like a look?" he asked.

"I can?! Yes, Please!" he shouted, before catching himself. "Ah sorry. Swords are... well they are something of a passion of mine. I always wanted to create something worthy of a lord and my father wanted to teach me... but he died before he could." A sigh, followed by an enraged scowl. "The plague was easily preventable, but the watchdogs refused to hand out medicine. Too much of a hassle." after a moment, he added. "I still miss him..."

A sympathetic smile. "I miss mine as well." Unsheathing the blade, he handed it to the smith.

With wide eyes, he studied it. "I know I'm just a novice, but I can tell this is a good sword. Look at the Hamon! The flex! The balance is excellent... the weight... was it forged for you?" Yoshi shook his head. "No," he answered. "It was made for my father. it passed on to me when he remained behind to allow me and Hide to flee." The two looked into each other's eyes. For a moment, a sense of brotherhood. Then, the blade was returned.

"If you want to watch others spar, the battle pit's supposed to be full. You wouldn't believe just how much a full belly helps with the training. Though, could use a bit of liquor, if you ask me."

With a laugh, the hanyou left the blacksmith.

A large number of the oni had gathered around the pit, and two, the blue-skinned woman he wounded back then and his sister, were wrestling.
The crowd cheered for both of them. It was obvious that the pure-blooded one was stronger than Hide, but she lacked training, probably another side effect of living in the reservation: More than once did Hide turn the strength of her foe around.
With a mighty thud, Hide's foe found herself on the ground. Both cheers and leers rang out and bottles of sake exchanged hands. His sister helped the blue oni back on her feet, and they shook hands, both of them smiling.
"So... how was it?" he asked his sister. The smile brightened. "Ayami has quite a bit of talent. Once she got a bit of training, she'll probably beat me." Even if the two of them were only partly oni... they still enjoyed a good and proper fight against someone equal.
"There you are!" Johnathan's voice startled them, as well as everyone around them. How could someone this strong and big be this stealthy? An uncharacteristic cackle from the priest. "My squire taught me a thing or two. Everything is prepared. The ritual can begin."
"A ritual. For what?"
A smirk. "To find your lord."
---
A large map of Japan on the table, surrounded by a circle of salt and another of writing neither of them recognized. Finally, hanging from the ceiling on a thin strand of white thread was a purple... spinning top?... made from a purple crystalline mineral that shone with an inner light, almost as if it contained fireflies.
"What are we supposed to do? How is this..." Hide pointed at the strange scene before her. "supposed to help us with finding lord Nobunaga?"
Johnathan smiled gently. "It's simple. A spell like you described should permeate your being on a fundamental level. So... with a small sacrifice of life force, this..." he gently tapped the top on the string. "should be able to pinpoint the position of the ones you two are drawn to."
"...Are you sure?" Yoshi asked with doubt in his voice.
A nod from the priest. "I might possess little talent in magic, but I'm quite skilled in replicating things I have seen more gifted magicals do. So..." he pulled out a thin knife. "Who is willing to pay the blood price?"
The twins looked at each other. A nod, and the sister stepped forth. She pulled the blade across her palm and a thin line of deep red blood bloomed forth. She smeared the top with her blood, pulled it back... and let go.
Swinging back and forth, drawing great circles... until it came to rest in unmarked green.
"So... if I didn't disappoint Kate and Sharan... this should be the stronger pull. The one you found but who didn't remember. Hideyoshi." A nod from the twins. The priest poured a small pile of salt on that spot.
"The next go should be the weaker pull. Yoshi?" The brother stepped forth. Like his sister, blood flowed from his palm and fed the shaped crystal.
Again, it spun and spun and spun... until it came to rest on the southern edge of Honshu.
Johnathan's face turned grim.
"Yokosuka... I thought something along those lines." he sighed.
"Is there something wrong with this... Yokosuka?" Hide asked.
"Kanmusu. Many, many kanmusu. Do you know tsukumogami? Kind of like that but different. They are... born of the best qualities of a soldier. Courage. Honor. Diligence. Even compassion. All in the form of a beautiful young woman, embodying the soul of a ship. They ignore most from of magical disguises, possess impossibly sharp spiritual senses, and... well... as strong and skilled as you are, if you drive a shipgirl to consider you a threat, not to herself, but to others, she will tear you apart."
They realized just what he feared. What if Lord Nobunaga didn't remember either? What if he called for help with one of those... kanmusu were present?
...
But still, their oath demanded them to search for the Great Unifier's reincarnation.
A smile appeared on Johnathan's face.
"Still going to try it?"
A nod.
"Well then... I'll plan a route for you. That should cut down on travel time."

A/N:
So...
Maybe the next part will be a meeting between Nobu and the twins.
Maybe it will just be sneaking into one of the most heavily defended places in Japan.
Sounds like fun, right?
Tell me what you think.
See you tomorrow, I'm aching all over.

*Snip.
Well, I'm going to start playing the Metal Gear Solid music next time we see them. Hopefully the Xenocidal F**KS don't show up and ruin everything.

If you want them to, let them. They would make for some good skeet shooting and the fish would like the free food (now if only they were at the countryside so that the farmers could enjoy some free fertilizer*).

*Apologies, but please remember how much I HATE people like The Xenocidal F**KS? They're up there with the NAZIS to me. So I kind of like to imagine them having their life subscription prematurely ended/their souls mailed to the afterlife/their name put on headlines or Twitter bios.
