Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Not anymore, the anima banner goes away after the scene is done and it's been long enough now that you are in another scene. As a rule of thumb a scene is about 15 minutes, though it can be a bit more or less depending on the narrative.
Oh.
I thought Scenes went until the next change of scene so to say, or in this case until we are out of the narrative dungeon.

Huh, what the Hell was Lydia doing down here? I doubt she was playing tourist or looking for a quiet place to make out with our brother.

Gonna assume she's not just another potential victim, but rather a co-conspirator working with Katrina until proven otherwise.

That would lead to wildly different scene length which is not so bad in base WoD, but for the Exalted the question of 'when does my masquerade-breaking anima go out' should be at least a little consistent otherwise it is hard for you guys to make plans around it.

[X] Take the path you know, you cannot risk getting lost down here
-[X] Now that Lydia is confirmed as involved mention your suspicions to Dad and Gard

Commentary later.
There are footprints in the sticky white mess, recent ones even though you cannot be more than another half mile from the place you had seen the ghouls feasting. Wait a second... those were not just footsteps, those are some real nice boots, kind of distinctive as well. The last time you had seen ones like that was...

"Lydia..." you breathe shocked. What would she be doing down here? The part of you that is still half convinced she has nothing to do with any of this mess asks. But then what would anyone else wearing three hundred dollar boots be doing down here.
Wildly you look around, but there is no other pair of tracks, just hers. Was she here alone...?
@DragonParadox
QUESTION
Which direction are the boot tracks from, and heading towards?
Are they coming from the shop, or just from another tunnel?

Now I'm really wishing the voting option to use the Crown on Lydia before we went to the arcade had won.

They are roughly in the direction you are going, but that does not mean much, this seems to be one of the major tunnels in this part of Undertown
You misunderstand me.
I mean, are they coming from our direction, or from a different direction?
Basically, is it Scenario A or Scenario B?

Her father might have conscripted her into helping him with her work, or she might have read something in his files and interfered unilaterally. Especially if he's missing.

She could have the Corpsetaker's ghost riding in her body like it tried to do to Mortimer Lindqvist in Ghost Story; if she's the Elder Ankou's kid, her magical potential is going to be significant, whether or not she enters the family business. She could be working for Kattrin under duress, or willingly a coconspirator in a patricide.

It might even be a coincidence, if she became aware of the supernatural recently, and is pursuing other stuff here.
Okay. So, probably Lydia's shoes. Probably Lydia's body as well. Molly doesnt have the knowledge to determine if she's carrying anyone from the depth of her footprints.

Sole footsteps means she's either unescorted, or her escorts dont need to walk.
Three hundred dollar fashionable boots means she hasnt been here before, else she would wear something more appropriate for mud and bat guano. Or someone else is driving the body.

She likely doesnt have a drivers license yet at 15ish, so either someone else drove her or she took public transport.
And there are no expensive cars out front in the business mall's parking lot.

Following her tracks is out of the question of course; Molly has Survival 0, no survival charms for tracking, no tracking spells, and there are no maps of Undertown for Clippy to access.
Plus, we called EMTs. We're on a six to thirty minutes timer before emergency services show up.

That said, we could burn a Crown of Eyes question on this.
Specifically, not on Lydia herself, but her shoes.

That seems... hasty?

I mean I know you will vote to interrogate her if we run into her, but are we working with them just because were down here?

She might have foolishly decided to go stag on this rescue mission. Like a teenager. Though her being an antagonist is also a distinct possibility.

Funny lawyer man. :V

1)Backstreet surgeon achievement get! Optional sidequest counts for XP, right?
2)Noting that Michael brought a fifth thrall to join the others. Where is the sixth?
3)Lydia's shoes. Might not be Lydia's feet, or Lydia's soul in the drivers seat of the body. But those are her shoes.
4)We made the call, we're on a timer.
In 30 minutes or less, preferably in less than 10 minutes, we need to be gone or we'll be running into emergency services topside.

-Great rolls on Medicine. Gonna need that Med 1-2, and probably an Excellency.
-Pity that social roll failed; if it had succeeded we would know if Lydia had come down here through the shop instead of some alternate entrance.
-God some of our stats are horrendous, arent they? :V
-Lucky roll about the shoes. Now we must follow up.

I guess I missed part of the vote, because it seems pointless to me to both spend essence and call the police.

Wasn't the whole point of saving him ourselves to avoid the need to do that?

1)That was unusual and difficult enough that it does get you XP yeah
4)Nobody says you have to come out of Undertown by the same way you came in, there's a whole realm beneath Chicago down there. Most entrances are guarded but not all and even for those that are your little trio is not what you would call lacking in the combat or social department.

Let's call it justified caution. Better to assume she's an enemy rather than treat her like a friend and end up getting backstabbed when we're focused elsewhere.
I mean yes. It's always good to be cautious. She might very well be down her for twisted and nefarious reasons. We know her a little bit. But not much.

But jumping right to assuming she's an enemy is just as foolish as assuming she's friendly.

We can deal with "allegiance unknown" we're not an automaton. And neither are our allies.

Indeed many of them would point out someone with unknown allegiance and motives warrants even more caution than an outright enemy. In some respects.

She could be here for anything after all.

Great!

Ah.
I was worrying about spending the next four hours down here looking for an exit and only making it up after dark.
Which would be bad.

Something like "What situation brought the items making that sound to this place?" or similar?
More along the lines of "What have these shoes witnessed since they were bought?"
Where witnessed assumes human-scale senses.

VOTE
[X]Take the path you know, you cannot risk getting lost down here
-[X]Crown of Eyes on shoeprints: What have the shoes that made those prints witnessed since they were bought.
-[X]STUNT: Frowning, you stare at the distinctive shoe patterns, then crouch to get a closer look. "I think I know those shoes. I think I know the owner of those shoes." Focusing, you open your eyes and look for a single, endless moment, then shake your head. Throttling the impulse to run the tracks down, you turn away. "Let's get Cindy first. I'll fill you in."

REASONS
Bird in hand. First. Accomplish primary objective, then sidequest.
Crown of Eyes on tracks; I was going to limit search history on the shoes to the last week, but frankly this is important enough that Molly can justify being intrusive, and she has mental defenses against trauma.
Once we have the kid and are backtracking, we can decide if its worth running down the tracks.

Besides simple charity and an abundance of caution in the event that we missed something? Calling the cops and EMTs means Kattrin cant interrogate them or just recycle them and put them back in the field with new weapons; those not receiving medical care will be held by the police on firearms charges till at least Monday. Which reduces her manpower availability.

Essentially the same thing they did to Dresden, just with lower level mooks.
Every little bit counts.

I wonder if what we're seeing is something like the Capriocorpus having bodyjacked her; and is planning to use the fact that she is now in the body of the blood descended child of the oldest Ankou as a hook to steal his mantle.

Perhaps sacrificing her soul in the process.

@DragonParadox, can we ask Gard how fresh the tracks are, etc. she should be an accomplished tracker with her experience?
