Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

If we have the xp, we may want to consider getting Essence 3.
Not as essential as in Exalted as charms don't have a minimum Essence requirement to purchase, but helpful when we have little time to rest, like now.

Really wish we had the stunt s recharging Essence mechanic, would make it easier.

I feel thats building tall a bit too soon I think we should wait one or two more arcs before that.

That's why I said 'may.'
Really, the main reason, since there is no minimum Essence to charms, is so that we have a larger gas tank for charms, for situations like this. Most of the time, we won't need it. For times like this, we definitely do.

I forget, does raising WP net more essence in EvWoD? Cause we could seriously use deeper essence reserves.

from a doylist view it'd also make us compete for the charms that are unlocked at essence three on top of the lower essence charms so it'd cause us to build tall again rather than getting a decent base. Not to disparage you just something to keep in mind if we get essence 3 we're gonna have to argue about getting related charms that work only with essence 3 now instead of later when we've got the other stuff.

  1. There are six of them and they are armed with shotguns and semiautomatics
  2. As for the ghouls these do not seem to be armed with anything besides their claws and a bad attitude but there are thirteen of them
We can handle six, since we presumably have a shield. Maybe even without an excellency, if we toss flashbangs first.
But shotguns? In an enclosed space?
Its worth spending 1 Essence or 1 WP to enter through the back and avoid the consequences of fumbling.

Ah. Fair. Thats probably an Intimidation roll first.
If nothing else "what was the first magical tattoo" or "what is the most powerful magical tattoo in existence" or something like this might work. Some other random items could work as a focus. Like, check some poison on the way, and ask "what is the most powerful magical poison out there".

Also, and this is totally stupid: @DragonParadox , our essence recovery rules say:

By the underlined text of the rule and how you made HMP work, HMP should be net positive for essence. But this is clearly an exploit / system mechanics issue. It should probably be corrected.
Fair point.
Admittedly, its just a 1 Essence drip(-1 Essence to use HMP, and +2 Essence regen) so not gamebreaking.
Still an exploit, so we wont use it.

I think Kat is going to be a bit more difficult to pin than that. Fair enough point on the rest though.
Do we really need the tool charm to get through the wall of a run down building in the undercity? At strength 4 Molly should be able to hack her way through the wall with her effectively unbreakable sword if she doesn't have to worry about being stealthy about it.

Edit:

Just imagine the look on Harry's face when we reveal the infinite demon glitch to him though. :V
No we shouldnt need it to cut through the wall.
Not unless we're in a hurry.

DF Ghouls are a supernatural species native to the Nevernever.
:waggles hand:
I remember reading somewhere they were descendants/hybrids of the uberghouls that Malvora showed up with in White Night.
Not sure where though.

Raising WP just gives you more WP to spend on things like autosuccesses or to deny successful social combat attempts to change your mind, or to oppose some types of hostile magic.

Given the number of goons I've changed my mind a little. Spending the extra essence still makes me twitchy, but 13 melee adds and 6 long arm wielding mooks could be unpleasant if Kat took the time to prepare more throughly than dumping monsters and thralls in a building.

Let's bring our own door, and skip whatever protection she placed on the one that came with the building.

I'll note that the fae are noted to be native to the nevernever which you know definitely isn't true or at least is only partly true.

We have 9/12 essence right now. Making the EMP will put us down to 8, and opening the wall to 7. I guess we should just hope we manage to regain some Essence during or after the assault before the next fight. Being able to conjure tools isn't that big of a secret.

Okay, I'm convinced. Changing my vote.

Unless it isn't and this is the intended way it works, which is why I am asking. I mean, it's once per scene , so, as you said, not exactly game breaking, and it comes at narrative cost of increasing the number of demons out there in the world.

Hmm... on questions to regain essence - we could use Cindy to ask "how is magic talent inherited?" or "what determines if someone inherits the talent for magic?". That's definitely a secret of the supernatural world. And it's relevant for our family, in which seemingly only Molly inherited Charity's talent.

We'll probably do a quick debrief of her.
If she can tell us something, anything, of how she got grabbed, it might qualify. Or if she can tell us a secret about how her grandfather created that massive ward, or who her emergency contact is supposed to be if anything happens to her granpa.

Lots of people harbor lots of secrets.
But Im still fairly confident that breaking into an unmapped area of Undertown for the very first time probably counts as a Chicago-area secret. As does discovering the...varied diet of ghouls.

Even witnessing Gard deactivate the sleep spell might count as a secret; its an old Norse spell, and so not unlikely to be mainstream magic. Definitely supernatural, at least.

Corpse
Definitely corpse.
I remember the ghoul that Dresden buried to its neck next to an anthill.
