Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

So no interest in the FSB signature stuff at the moment? Kinda relevant to what we might want to apply when fighting the Denarian.

Oh yeah I completely agree it's just that the gravity example is weird, right because even in that example deleting gravity does nothing there because there are multiple downward forces and no upward forces involved. Wheels exert Force perpendicular to the rotation which means you would just accelerate faster or slow down slower If gravity was missing from vehicle because the air is still subject to gravity above the car pushing it down about 14.7 pounds per square inch.

Which if a car is on the small end about 6 ft long by about 5 ft wide and only get wider and longer from there you're talking about just about 200 pounds pushing down on the top of the car at minimum though it would make the car immensely easier to flip if the driver is not being careful with their turns.

It's one of those things where unless you're very careful about it gravity is such a fundamental force that you're begging for nothing or everything to happen all at once when you attempt to delete it from an object, entity or space.

In a hypothetical gunman scenario it would make snipers way more effective to use this on bullets because you would only have to worry about bullet drop due to atmospheric pressure rather than gravitational which means the effective range of any sniper or even just most guns would increase drastically.
It'd only be more effective if it was done with some forewarning and a bit of practice.

Good point about the air, but this is the sort of narrativium power that isn't super concerned with regular physics. Maybe the exalt hits an area and uses it for a flip, maybe something more obscure. In any case I'm pretty confident the target would lose control and end up in a catastrophic crash.
Actually, I would erase their wheels' friction during a car chase.

Not that your idea is bad, just that I think it would be more dangerous to do, as there is less risk they fly above obstacles instead of right in them. It's also an indication of how many ways such a simple thing as *erasing something* can be used.
Eh, it's just an example. My point was that this is a very contextual power.

Even the base version could do things like take a truck sized portion out of the supports of an overpass and dump rush our traffic on someone driving beneath it.

Yeah, agreed. Some backup would be good. The problem is not to spook him too much. If he hasn't sold out to the denarians (I hope not), us showing up with our own infernal legions might make him think we are more of the same.

It should be a delicate balance between "we are strong enough that joining us makes sense" and "we are not the same as all other shadowy conspiracies"
Proposition:

Paint our troops in bright colors. :V
You joke, but people are very biased by appearances.

In terms of not spooking him we could also try an approach so openly strange that the confusion dilutes the threat.

The guy is primed for high fantasy stuff right now. Demons, sorcerers, fanatic cultists, that sort of thing. If we show up with dragon men in power armor and sassy combat cyborgs it'd kind of be like a Wild West gunslinger popping up in Narnia.

It could end up backfiring, but a mix of those guys and some heavy hand agents could play well by making him pause to confirm what the fuck he's seeing.

Oh, believe me, I am taking this proposition very seriously. Parade grade power armor, visible high tech blasters, cyborg troopers, the whole thing might serve us well - short-circuit his expectations. We cannot be a demon lord if we are an alien empress.

… Wait, has anyone explained to Silver Phantom that technically Molly is also a living planet/alternate dimension? Maybe Lara before we showed up or something?

Cause otherwise we might shock her a bit.

Why would Lara know? She is probably aware that Molly rules a NeverNever realm. The whole "this is actually my worldbody, the sometimes human shaped Molly you see is a tip of my proverbial finger, and I am an infant Primordial Titan" has been outright told to Molly's parents only. Wizards know a lot of what is happening and may come to their own conclusions, but we didn't exactly sit down with them to explain it.

The thing that will probably cause Silver Phantom some headaches, or possibly actually help her a lot is how death works in our reality. Not sure how her deathsight will work there.

We told the Wizards point blank and Lara is an information specialist. You do have a point though, the IC timeline is much shorter than the OOC one. Still, she has to know the FCF exist, but Silver wouldn't unless Lara told her.

I'm sure her first impression will be interesting with the Whispers in her head. How often would the Neverborn get that good a look at a heretical infernal? They might readjust their approach to Molly from butler to bastard of their distant cousins.

Unrelated to the primary point, but we should dip into the armory for everyone while we're in transit*. Silver's primary combat caste ability is firearms, unless she chose not to use the respec opportunity to grab skill in it when she exalted she's probably tragically under equipped for her ability with it.

* Including Azhi if he's neutral or better. Because everyone who retains a human soul, regardless of their path in life, has an inner child who would like to own a ray gun.

Did we? We told them about how this is our kingdom, and we are tied to it and have intellectus over it in some way. But I don't remember telling them about Molly-behind-the-curtain as it was.

Arc 15 Post 69: Electronic Passage New
Electronic Passage

13th of March 2007 A.D.

You send out a call though the Order of the Cauldron and get an answer almost instantly. You raise an eyebrow at the name of the establishment, but try not to judge.

Tiffany on the other hand is not as polite, though you doubt anyone else can read the faint amusement behind her half-hooded eyes. Still most of your attention is on Silver Phantom, she is nervous, though doing a disturbingly good job hiding it balancing from foot to foot with a squeak of long used tennis shoes of the kind Lara wouldn't be caught dead in, doing her darnest not to look towards the clamshell phone Lara had left with Thomas.

"We are going to have to pass though another place to get to Saint Luis in time, my place, there's a lot more to say about that, but now's not the time, not with the Denarians involved. Akariel may not be the worst of them, but he's a follower..."

"What I said was that he's a blood gorged tick hanging off the asses of greater power," Tiffany interjects, to Lydia's amusement and Harry's worry.

Tiffany might know Nicodemus from memories not entirely her own, but Harry is the only one there who has ever crossed the master of the Order of the Blackened Denarius and even with all the power you can bring to bear he's not feeling comfortable. Not even accounting for the fact that you may have to fight the Dead Dragon.

"We go in force master wizard." A voice which had been strangely absent from the counsels so for how naturally talkative its bearer is. Llyr Half-Speech he was and the whisper of wind given the breath of stone about him and at the feet of Mabon son of Modron while Gwair son of Geirioedd breathed deep and with each exhalation sent shivers of life though each living thing.

"Lesser are we than than his death knight but age and wisdom may yet overcome youth and elan," the thind in that company said softly.

"We would say age and treachery," Thomas puts in, his voice growing thin as you focus on opening the way.

Mabon looks to Tiffany who raises a hand in front of her face as though to bat away the suspicion. "I had nothing to do with it. Humans can be cynical all on their own."

"Well let's hope he's not too badly off," Silver half whispers, more than half to herself.

More by will than by Essence you open the way, the layers of reality flowing like smoke and oil instead of steel opened at a touch. There.

Lost 2 Essence (King and Kingdom, taking others with you)

***

Nine people barely fit in the back of the Witch's Wish between the scented candles and the books on Yoga and meditation. Bock Ordered Books this place is not... or at least it doesn't seem to be at first glamce. The lady looking wearily back at you from behind a pair of heavy square glasses that take up more than half her face looks less like she's had a mataphysical sparker thrown in her face and more like she's trying to work out meaning from the twisting essence.

"Oh I wasn't..."

The computer whose speakers you had used for safe passage thakes that moment to give up the electronic ghost with a piercing whine and a smell of melting plastic.

"Harry!" you grumble, but Silver frowns.

"That's me, don't worry. I'll make it right." And just like that all worries had been assuaged or killed maybe. Where your essence overawes with brillience hers smothers all doubts.

"Ah... Dangerous." Tiffany might have said that last bit in French but the shape of the words close enough to English that all you hear is an accent.

"What's dangerous?" Silver asks.

"Being persuasive. It's very easy to persuade yourself you see."

Thomas is either too polite to roll his eyes at a lady or too focused on the hunt but you can feel his dissagrement in the set of his shoulders.

First thing's first, you check the news... and find that the Hellfire Club was the scene of a 'gass explosion' earlier today, the kind of gas explosion that gets dozens of FBI agents called it and a couple of people in plain clothes that might be from a certain Library.

Lydia Essence 7/7 (0/3 Jade Talisman)
Molly Essence 8/18
Molly Willpower 6/9
Harry Essence 1/5
Silver Essence 7/10

What do you do?

[] Go down to the Club

[] Call the library to inform them of.... some part of what went down
-[] Write in how much

OOC: This feels like it didn't move us along as much as I would have liked, but we have a lot of people here and they need to get some time to interact or the scene becomes unmoored from the people in it.

It only takes 15 minutes in a glass of bleach for Molly to recharge 1 Essence. We're kinda pressed for time but if Molly can recharge on the way that'll be great too.

We're low on essence, I think it's better to get to the scene of the crime and work out what to do once we've seen what happened.

Hey while it would be nice to regenerate Essence we're really not low in any real way. Even when we hit nine we'll still have more effective Essence then the Abyssal that we're going to meet here.
