Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

We have 3 others to track down after this people. Let's hope we are fast enough, good enough and lucky enough to get trough to all of them, but one at a time or we will most likely fail everywhere. Still make sure Harry is topped off if it is not automatic because his essence will be needed.
Harry takes an hour of meditation to generate one mote. And cannot take motes from exalts. It's unlikely he'll get toppled off. Maybe regenerate one mote.
False Spring can probably counteract the Abyssal Curse
Hopefully - the narrative is there already: we did exactly the same thing with LoV - separated him from the influence of the Neverborn.

And it gives us a fantactic bargaining tool, and "our" abyssals a qualitative advantage over hostile ones.

I think we should have someone else do the next rituals given that.

Harry did his job well, but he can't regenerate fast enough here.

There are 3 more out there and while we can do a ritual or two to speed this along, Harry can still meditate enough to get one more. So he should if for no other reason than learning how to handle Exalted adjacent headaches while there are only a few out and about.

We can be almost certain that at least one is being handled by Knights of the Cross (Michael specifically) who will likely call for help if needed.

If we grab Inari successfully, she can almost certainly be used as a focus for the Crown to find the others. And for a wizard ritual too.

Ok, so, this isn't going to be as easy as I am making it look, but the following might be a step in the right direction:

Form of Ash and Dust (1 pt. Form Element)
Form of Dreams and Nightmares (1 pt. Form Element)
Beautiful Lie (3 pt. Root Element)
Dreaming a New Dream (3 pt. Root Element
Sacred Protection (3 pt. Root Element)
Mystic Fortification: Beautiful LIe +2 DC to resist

It takes a form of a small transparent crystalline flask on a long brass chain to be worn around one's neck. Within the flask, a hazy, indistinct flame burns, a mixture of shadows and gold. It shines no light across the darkness, and yet, its wearer is kept separate from the black void beyond sight, as surely as they would standing under the rays of a high-noon sun.

Despite its humble outwards appearance and lack of vulgar miracles associated with it, this is a crowning achievement of an Exalted Wondercraft - a Lie so potent that it is becomes truth, a promise that redefines reality to ensure itself, a dream to come made manifest so it may come true.

Patterned after the crafts born in the heart of Summer, forged from a piece of a soul of a consenting abyssal deathknight, cleansed from the taint of Neverborn in flames of pure Essence, given weight and substance by angelic lore, it is the greatest of lies, Hope of Humanity, being manifest. It holds one function and one function only - to act as a wedge, a shield, a key to breaking the armor of dark taint abyssals toil under, and to make sure that Unconquered Hero's Faith will be rewarded
Works off Hope Plague as a basis, uses abyssal's own soul (piece of it) as a catalyst. The abyssal has to be consenting when the splendor is forged

Beautiful Lie with Mystic Fortification makes the abyssal believe that they will be free of the Neverborn hold, their exaltations cleansed to shine again.
Dreaming a New Dream reinforces that lie making it true by changing the nature of the abyssal to that of a champion of Creation instead of its destined destroyer
Sacred Protection shields the spirit of the abyssal from the retaliation by the Neverborn, protecting the exalt from twisting of the mind by supernatural forces and other manifestations of their necrotic magic

If the abyssal has Unconquered Hero's Faith charm, the splendor shields the user from negative consequences of the charm's manifestation and expands the number of swapped charms to Essence amount.

@DragonParadox is something like this workable and narratively appropriate? It's not intended as an immediate "turn abyssal into a solar" solution - that would obviously be a result of many major arcs of development, but it's intended as a wedge to lodge into the abyssal shard, to help the abyssal on the path to redemption. It would be a combination of FSB, probably VEE (Spark of Life merit seems super-appropriate here, narative-wise), and this as a basic package. At E3 Unconquered Hero's Faith will be added.

Visually, it's something like Dark Souls humanity.

You would need to study an Abyssal to know if something like this is possible or what the limitations might be. Molly saw those shards for one round of subjective time.

They'd have to be pretty crazy to let us make something out of their souls. Cause that is one of the few ways an exalt can be made a virtually unfreeable slave. The splendor's owner can command them without any means of resistance and it automatically becomes the crafter's property by default. We can give it back, but they have to trust us to do that.

Frankly I also think soul crafting is bait because it makes it possible for anyone to theoretically enslave an exalt even if they otherwise couldn't even dream of it. They can't steal it, but they can target making situations where they can try to compel the owner to give it up.

I understand the desire to start solving problems now. But it's a bit early to think about how to cancel the Abyssal symptoms... We need to recruit or kill a few of them first for that. We're still in round 1.

And yes. I wonder if all the other abyssals will be girls. Because we still have a pretty feminine club at Molly's and that's not going to change. But I understand that this is because of Dragon Paradox's preferences. Ever since the Dnd asoiaf quest

[X] Plan Emergency Response

Inari is unlikely to be interested in helping the white court, and if she blames Lara for this she might not really be positively inclined to her immediate family either.
but Inari had been saved and she had gone away where her father couldn't find her. Lara had said so, she promised

For all the bad she now associates with her family, and the shock of knowledge that she was about to be killed just as a pawn to manipulate Lara - she has been living for quite a while with the knowledge that it was Lara's protection that enabled her new life in exile with Bobby in the first place.

So while I seriously doubt Inari will become the enforcer of the White Court just because it's her "default faction", she might still feel she owes Lara something, at least.

We don't have a lot of time, but the short story is that something like a different flavor of what happened to me is happening to four others." From the growing alarm growing in his eyes she hadn't managed to be reassuring.

Has Molly talked to Michael, as the original plan intended (I might have missed it; if so, sorry)?
No, he's not home and he seems to be out of signal coverage
Probably not Micheal anyway.

I like the theme in the Circle only being composed of women. It's decently rare, usually I only see that sort of thing in magical girl sailor moon stories.

The big problem is that we are having to deal with 5 Abyssal exaltations at the same time. Even if we knew where all of them were and their exact situations that would be tricky even with all our friends and clones.

Well, fortunately one of them is still locked. But yes, the situation is very dangerous, I don't deny it.

I'm not saying it's bad. Especially since Tiffany is purely a players' agency. I'm just noting the trend.

Arc 15 Post 63: Family Call New
Family Call

13th of March 2007 A.D.

Harry had barely gotten the salient parts of what he had seen out by the time you call Thomas, silently cursing the lack of a personal satellite to make sure calls like this get through. He picks up on the third ring. "Something you did, Molly?" He sounds worried in spite of the glibness, alas not nearly worried enough.

There's a part of you that wants answer yes, to apologize for making his sister into... into... you are not even sure what to call those who bear the void shards, reapers and executioners. You shove that part into time out so hard it bruises. Now's the time to fix things not go looking for forgiveness. The image of your dad looking far larger though the eyes of child's memory, his face less lined and eyes not as worried offers a moment to breathe and center yourself before picking up the thread of conversation.: "We don't have a lot of time, but the short story is that something like a different flavor of what happened to me is happening to four others."

Silence rings in your ears like a bell.

"Inari is one of them."

"But she's... why?"

You meet the eyes of Listens to the Wind and his curious companion across the room. Truth be told you have theories, impressions born of dreams and glimpses of darkness, but that's not something to blurt out. As Uriel did for for me so do I hope to do for others. Does that make me conceited? You certainly don't feel conceited, frazzled, flummoxed and some other less polite words that start with F. Otherwise hardly more room for feelings.

"I need her number." To tell her to get off the street in the wake of what probably looks like a double homicide, you add, though only in the privacy of your own head. You still remember the Scarecrow, the hate and rage rushing though your veins with power. If all of that had happened on a crowded street you'd have killed it just as dead.

Thomas rattles it off from memory, voice half drowned by the sound of an already revving engine. Of course he's know it, she's his sister. You try to imagine how you would have reacted if it had been Daniel, Mathew or Leech, then flinch away from the thought.

One, ring two... and then a familiar voice.

"Ah, Miss Carpenter. I'm guessing you obtained the number from Thomas," Lara Raith says, trying and not at all succeeding to sound unphased. Taunt as a bow about to shoot. "Inari is safe, though unable to answer the phone at the moment."

"What happened?"

One can practically hear the gears turning in her head at the question. On the one hand you're a stranger without any particular right to know the state of a girl you'd never met. On the other hand you have been friendly to the White Court and her brother as well as Inari's works for you. Finally she answers, each word deliberate: "She is otherwise occupied paying back a betrayal, a family endeavor for an ill done the family." Nothing of that rings false, but then you don't think Lara normally bothers with anything as crude as a lie, but far from the whole truth.

"I might be able to help, I want to help," you blurt out, or seem to at least. Though the emotion is genuine the way you harness it is anything but. "What's happening with Inari?"

A strained sigh can be heard on the other side. "Owing to recent events my younger sister intended to destroy this phone rather than face calls from her beau or business partner. I pointed out that she will most likely want it in the morning no matter how she feels right now. Needing to replace one's phone never improves a situation. So she dropped it on me and said, verbatim, 'you answer then'."

For just a second or two there you feel simple sympathy for Lara Raith, one older sister to another. Her next question puts an end to it as quickly as it had come:

"Speaking of the situation, what do you know?"

It would be dramatic to say that the current White Queen by proxy is the last person you would rather be sharing the deeper mysteries of the world with, but of the people one could honestly imagine such a conversation with she's certainly down near the bottom. On the other hand she is the woman on the spot and seems to have things in hand, potential revenge fueled rampage asside.

What do you reply?

OOC: A riddle for the ages, how do you stop a newly Exalted Abyssal from rampaging? The answer, if you are Lara Raith is 'you don't, you offer to help'. For anyone wondering how Lara got across the country so fast, Molly suspects she set up a Way connecting Chicago (or even just Castle Raith) and San Francisco because she knew Inari would be living there. I tried putting the speculation in the update proper but it wouldn't fit given Molly's present mindset.

Molly's Crown works on other Exalted right? She could show up and offer to help, I'm sure Inari has a lot of questions right now. Like why she can't answer to her own name and why everything hurts when she's not wearing death-related clothing/symbols.

Personally, I think Molly blames herself too much. Inari would be dead if not for the Exaltation. She could have chosen to die rather than become an Abyssal. That's more than the White Vampires give. So, forgive me if I don't think our responsibility is enough for such self-flagellation. I would save that narratively for when the Abyssals blow up a couple hundred thousand people or something horrific like that.

But at least it was without Lara's knowledge, thank the gods. So we can take part in a diplomatic vampire incident!

[X] "I'm on my way. There are things Inari needs to know, and while I don't have all the answers I have more than anyone else."

I think we need to explain enough to make Lara want to know more from Molly and yes that should include the information that Inari is a subtype of what Molly is. Just not Demon flavor but Death flavor.

[X] Offer to come to San Francisco to help
-[X] Offer insights you have both to her and Inari, but they need to be explained face to face
--[X] You know some of where they come from, some of the risks and dangers that come with them

-[X] "I'm on my way. There are things Inari needs to know, and while I don't have all the answers I have more than anyone else."

So, we need to explain that:
1) There are more than Inari who exalted
2) What an exaltation is, roughly
3) What the Neverborn are, roughly
4) How they got released

I think we should own that we released them, sticking to "it was either this, or Kemmler's pet spirit doing this" story.

[X] There are some things she'd probably want to know in person for security reasons. Some things you can say over the phone though.
-[X] Give her the basics of what Inari is, a few guesses as to what her powers are like, and any initial advice she might need as a death flavored exalted.
-[X] If she needs you, you can be there immediately. Otherwise, suggest that a meeting be arranged as soon as Inari feels she can handle it. She will very likely not be well mentally at all, so anything to calm her down is good.
-[X] Also, advise she avoid any sort of crimes against nature, and death related decisions until you have a chance to speak. The biggest problem you have is often not in doing things, it's in the results afterwards.
