Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Mainly because I am using the question to check if there's anything supernatural going on here. If not, pass the info onto mortal authorities, and move on.
Uju said it as a murder case, than it was mortal.
She burned all her Faith. Thats quite a gesture of trust.
Or would be, if it wasnt Molly she was dealing with.

Green Toyota?*googles* Yeah I know this one. Murder case.
Have Clippy run the license plates, and burn the scene as a focus.
That leaves us with the options of HMPing the car and still using the car as a Crown focus.

This is free XP. Take it.

I honestly don't care about random murder car, but I feel like both Molly and Daniel would care enough to at least burn a crown question on it?

It looks like an easily resolved minor issue, and before you know it, you're invading another dimension to sort out a conspiracy going back centuries.

The still-living Primordial Autochthon sealed off his world-body in full generality, stopping anything including Exaltations from entering, and you want to generalize to simply building an arena? One that's easily openable to throw people in and take them out again?? o_O

I think you're vastly over-stretching precedent. You see Artifact N/A workings and Primordial plot devices, and suggest not only building another, but building a better, more convenient one, with fewer people on the team, and less power available, on a much shorter timescale.

A Monstrance of Celestial Portion does something similar to what you hope for. It is the combined result of Yozi research on captive Exalts to develop the theory, Neverborn empowerment of the super powerful artifact, and Deathlord hands in the world to build and manipulate the thing. Each one is individually Artifact N/A, linked to a single Abyssal Exaltation. I grant that this can be done; I deny it is doable by Molly in Daniel's lifetime.
On a much shorter timespan, both Molly and Usum, who have Occult 5, didn't laugh at Will of Kakuri's plan to kill Molly and influence who the shard will pass on to. We have Jade Prison and Black Vault as examples of exaltations being contained within a spatially limited area. The point we are currently discussing is "bigger and badder beings than Molly tried to influence where exaltations go, and all have failed". I am disputing that point.

Molly has her own worldbody, part of which (the Labyrinth) is explicitly a prison realm within the prison realm. If we need to do it like this, we could. We also have Winter and Summer favors, and combining those, I am betting we could do this. Maybe add Tiffany's Lore of Longing to the mix.

But in principle, I am hoping that Should the Sun not Rise is in effect, and all we need to do is to convince a spirit of ancient pharaoh that Daniel is a worthy successor.

We don't know what will happen if we bring an Exaltion into Molly's soul which already contains one. Hard pass.

@DragonParadox Seriously though Olivia disappeared after you mentioned she apparently had the time to join us on a trip to Wales. She wasn't mentioned on the plane ride or in the car either. Is she using her notice me not power for some reason?

Clones of the Primordial Adorjan are canonically candidates for Exaltation in Ex2.
So are latter-day Lintha and beastmen in Ex2.
So are vampire ghouls in ExWoD.

I dont particularly see anything in that quote disqualifying a mortal fomor from a Celestial Exaltation; the Exaltation will burn out any and all previous supernatural attachments.
There's at least one Abyssal in ExWoD who was a ghoul/thrall who Exalted mid-Embrace.

THat's true for all Exaltations, exept Solar.

Second, the individual must be purely and entirely human. If the blood of shapeshifters or faeries runs through their veins, if they've partaken of vampire blood, if they've Awakened to the mutable nature of reality, then Exaltation will pass by without descending upon them.
That one is very specific.

Oh sorry, I was too focused on Tiffany's rolls and I missed her. One moment.

That tracks. I stopped looking at the supernatural factors, what I was arguing against was the notion that they could have direct access to a tech based system used for monitoring people as technological means were being brought up.
They're a financial super power, that can't happen if they're wholly ignorant and incapable of interacting with mortal society. They can't use it themselves easily, but they've got Batman's strongest super power on their side: money.

They also have diplomatic contacts to work with. Our second to last trip out of town actually ended with the feds effectively going "Someone needs to inform the Pope". Then we washed it down by deploying a magically delicious biological WMD on a major hell. We're definitely being watched, and there's little reason to believe the people doing so are limited to single vectors.

No it won't," Lydia says quietly firmly as she takes Daniel's hand. It's hard to tell if she means the carving or the notion of him ever dying
This reminds me, we should consider some age slowing potions now that we're a 4 dot alchemist. Pretty sure we can get some decent stuff even if we can't do the full fat 5 dot version.

Obviously it isn't relevant on the quest timeline, but it's a neat narrative to explore and on a practical level a great trade good.

Frankly, it's better at that than full immortality would be. Being able to sell people their youth back by the decade keeps them dependent, and they'll act on that even in the span of the game.
Huh, you don't..." Lydia stops and reassesses, for a rather long time in your opinion . "You look a little different, but not much."
Molly's going to have to turn in her big sister card for missing a teasing opportunity like that. A quick little "Disappointed or relieved?" Would've killed two birds with one stone. :V

But contrary to his fears you keep silent, teasing ammunition this good should be saved up not shot on the spot.
Maybe she'll keep her sibling license after all.

On one hand I don't want a hook into another crazy plot, on the other I don't think Molly would let this go.

Can I suggest just hitting the car with a cyber devil if we're not happy with the answer we get? The driver can either jump out of their car at highway speeds or come on a trip to somewhere convenient to deal with them while we go about our business.

Personally I hope this is actually a minor little thing for its own sake and not just because I'd prefer to avoid another tarpit.

Being someone else's monster of the week is an infernal staple, and popping up out of nowhere to be an over leveled encounter for the least lucky assholes in Wales would be hilarious.

Just imagine some Scooby Doo style gang of minor practitioners trying to deal with a vampire problem when suddenly the plot runs into an exalt like a sentence runs into a full stop.

Yeah, this is literally the White Council's backyard, any power of note is either quiescent enough to be not worth bothering, or sleeping deeply enough to not wake up for anything short of Molly looking for trouble. I doubt there's anything major in here, in fact I'd say the largest power asides from the wizards would be the Summer Court, considering England's history and all.

Me as well because it says something really weird about the world in general if we can't go a week without running into an Exalted level threat.

Incidentally the wicked city must really have it's hands full for our plane to have not been shoot down.

Edit: If it's trouble coming a long way to find us it's different, but in that case I would expect it to happen in Chicago.

We have Tiffany with us. She has Find the Faithful. If Clippy learns the name of the car owner then she should be able to locate the car owner over great distance.

Also assuming that all the Nickelheads likely have Find the Faithful hiding from them is a gigantic pain. Even with BMI we are usually traveling with someone not so protected.
I wonder if our clones give false positives?

Also considering that it is basically free I expect that Tiffany is using it on all the Nickelheads whenever she is feeling nervous just to see if any are in the same city as her. It can be resistanted by other demons, but also spammed so detection always beats resistance eventually.

Edit: Mistake
Torment: Monstrous demons can detect only sources of spiritual decay or corruption. They may use this evocation to seek out individuals whose Faith or Willpower has been reduced to zero.

I think that we can assume Nickelheads are high Torment.

We did this with her through several votes over several rounds (that is, months) and that meant several people wanting to wash their hands of her, me among them. That's what I meant when I said that we spent months fighting with her, supported by supernatural power, for her to stop trying to control Molly to live as she thought she should.

Considering Daniel's desire has a basis more than just impressing his girlfriend, helping his beloved sister and trying to fight with various dark forces that he knows exist and knows about the plans thwarted by his father and sister, I also think he would celebrate several vows, because he will spend willpower against us on this and several turns to get that idea out of his head. Unless of course we go back to my previous unethical idea.

I don't trust the consistency of the thread to maintain this, especially when a large part of it wants him to have this power, including me, after all that's how the plan to empower him won.
======
That's just ignoring why he wanted this power in the first place, he wants to help his sister and girlfriend fight the good fight. Of course, we can send him on small missions throughout the city, help the alphas on patrols, accompany Lydia or Lash when they build their own support, help Ordo, etc. I fully support this.

But we won't be able to say anything against taking him on our adventures if we take Olivia. At least we know when the situation will overtake them, just like Olivia did when we entered hell.
======
Can you tell me where these academic problems appeared? Every month we spend precious AP at school, even though I completely agree with Lash's statement that the place was useless other than socializing and we were shown that Molly can cheat with Usum and cyberdemos if she needs to.

And Olivia has college, family, work, social life, patrol and plans for reform the magical comunity. Where she's supposed to find all this time is something noone has considered.
1) OOC time is not the same as IC time.
The time we spend out of school/miss class is explicitly called out in the narrative.

My dude is Willpower 7.
We have ROLLED Harry Dresden before, and Harry is like Willpower 8. We have convinced Michael freaking Carpenter to let his teenage daughter go to Hell with only the backup of a girl younger than he is, and a centuries old vampire.

Daniel is good for a teenager, but good for a teenager is not relevant in social combat against an E3/E4 Solaroid who favors Empathy and can throw 18 dice at the argument with no actual preptime, and knows him well enough to know which Intimacies to target.

He is only doing this shit because we chose to let him.
Which is a storytelling choice as much as anything, not a situation where we lacked any alternatives OOC. Not my choice, but a majority voter's choice nonetheless.

======
2) That was never a particularly convincing argument IMO.

His father is a Knight, and that as far as we are aware that didnt inspire him to feats of reckless teenagery. Nor did his mother's literal trip to the heart of Winter. None of this entered his head until he started dating a girl of supernatural power. He loves his sister, but lets not fool each other; he wants the power because of his girlfriend, not because of his sibling.

He certainly never needed power for "the good fight", any more than Butters or Father Forthill or his mother has.
All of whom have had more actual impact than most people under arms out there.
Im not saying he's dumb or stupid. I am saying he's a teenager.

And no, were not sending him on anything. He's our brother, not a soldier under our command. We dont command him or his availability any more than we command Dresden. And if you are arguing that he is dumbass teenager enough to go running into the NeverNever, you certainly cannot simultaneously argue that he is biddable in the field.

From a hard choice of usefulness?
Olivia >>> Daniel. The multi-path sorceress is a much more versatile party member than the martial artist with a sword.
And from an IC perspective, Molly does not have to answer to Daniel about who she chooses to take anywhere.

Molly has declined to bring Michael Carpenter and his Sword with her to Yomi Wan. Because she worried about her father.
The idea that Daniel gets to complain if she declines to take him anywhere is ridiculous.

======
3) Olivia doesnt work AFAIK; she has student loans to see her through college.
Family is not in the city. She isnt dating. Social life and magical community overlap, as does social life and college; she's a performing arts student.

And nobody does patrols in the Dresdenverse. This is not a Batman comic, much as that dead akuma might have wished otherwise.

Furthermore, she's a college student, which gives her flexibility in her schedule that a high school student doesnt have.
She can drop stuff if its necessary: take fewer classes per semester, get credit for extra curricular work.
A high school student leads a lot more structured life. Freer in some ways, but more structured

The Alphas do patrols, though that may have to do with the fact that they are wolves and they would go stir crazy if they did not get to run around together in that form. Magic changes the practitioner and in their case the change was 'Wolfy McWolfpants' ;)

It has nothing to do with them all being a bunch of nerds who grew up on Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns...

The willpower a character that isn't a Supernatural is supposed to have is three not even five definitely nowhere near seven, three. Molly herself only started with nine Lydia herself started with less than seven.

I think you might be forgetting that no amount of conversation is mind control he can just spend willpower to ignore us. The only way we could actually convince him to change his mind is if we tied into a chair and burn all of his willpower. His mother has been trying to get him off this track for the last probably 10 or so years and she has failed the entire time no amount of dice that isn't mind control would allow us to break him without doing things like breaking him.

There is no intimacy that we can Target that would allow us to break him from this course of action. Lydia his first even if it's only puppy, love walks alongside Us in danger. His father walks in danger for the Lord for God knows how long God knows how many missions against Dragons demons and who knows what else us his sister literally moving into hell bombing it with hope bombs and just generally fucking shit up.

The only intimacy that he has that's actually lines up with not getting into the Supernatural is his mom and he's been ignoring her for the last again I don't know how long. The only way that he wasn't going to be involved for the supernatural would involve us partaking in what is something pretty close to torture for an extended period of time and even then not even a sure thing because he still has intimacies that led him to the path that he wants to walk anyway.
