Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

So what does this actually do?
Uju32 posted an item that's very likely related to it that's basically an arcana style shadow minion. That item is okay but not really amazing in its source. However, with the change in the world I think it's reasonable to think it'll be more dramatic here. Either because it's built to contest a much livelier universe or because of something it's accumulated over the eons.

Er... I'm not sure if you guys noticed but...

A character activates the dark rider by committing six motes to it, making the statuette blur into
the character's shadow. The shadow takes the form depicted by the statuette. From there, it watches the
character's back, making it impossible to surprise him. The monstrous shadow also lends the character a
frightening appearance, adding three dice to social rolls that benefit from the unnerving mien.

This thing is a surprise negator. For Exalted that's not extraordinary, but in this Fifth Age of the world it very much is. And it can also do other things that will be tweaked

Fair, though that's more useful to people other than Molly since her anima does that passively already.

Does that mean the our total mote pool goes down? Because then it very much isn't worthwhile for us.

That is how Attunment works yes, you commit motes.

Kinda tempted to pay Harry to study it like we did the Akuma's sword, purely to see the look on his face when we plunk it down in his lab. :V

Molly: Heya Harry, I won this in a game of Super Old Mega-Chess with some kind of ancient fey I met while I was talking to Mother Summer. You know Mother Summer right? Nice old lady. Anyway I think this is older than the Big Bang from a certain perspective, the statue not the fey... though she's most likely that old too, but you can't study her so here. :V

Well, I'm glad you are enjoying yourself dear," Years of familiarity with that tone almost has you flinch back from an anticipated attempt to pinch your cheeks, but no cheek pinching is forthcoming as she continues:
… Is this meant in the generic sense or specifically with Mother Summer? Cause it sounds like we might have played the long variant and be coming out of faerie a few years older.

Thank goodness for the bonus true agelessness solaroids have in this quest. Sure they normally have hilarious lifespans, but theres still technically a difference between effectively making no difference and actually not making one.

So's his girlfriend, and his soul for that matter, but he doesn't get all worked up when they pop into his lab. No need for a grown wizard to be so dramatic.

Permanently decreasing our max motes by 6 just to turn on an artifact would destroy our playstyle.

Her strongest Lores are of flesh, longing, and awakening. The things she knows the best are life, the passions that drive it, and the moment where simple instinct sparks into something more.

Her role was a tempter, but the associations of slipping around defenses and angels to flight/the sky seem secondary to the foundations of her knowledge and abilities. We want her working life stuff in the ritual because she's a participant, not just an index of connections, and this is what she does.

And flesh absolutely qualifies because wood is the totem for all of life under this system, just as water isn't just H2O.
Yes, those are her current Lores.

But of them all, the one she embodies most is Longing, and that doesnt really translate here.
You could make an argument for Flesh and Awakening being related to Water, for change/transformation, but not really Wood's themes of virulence in this scenario.

I do not agree.
In this paradigm, Wood is at best fecundity, not life.
It doesnt encompass every or even most forms of life

At least, thats my opinion at least.
Yeah, but cold is a wind thing. which is why our protection splendors allow wind items to block it, along with lightning and actual wind, while water only does drowning.
Even without that the cold biting winds of Kakuri are a touchstone for it so the association is there anyway.
I didnt say Cold, I said Ice. Kakuri is Night and Ice.
Wind would be the Adorjan Hell; the Hell of Being Skinned Alive. And the thematic implications of that Hell are all wrong for this anyway.
