Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

They broke the cardinal rule of killing a sorcerer, took him head on so they got his death curse right in the kisser.
That reminds me @DragonParadox did Vegas have a Warden or did they keep out?

I think we should inform the Archive at least that the United States itself is in danger of being glassed(sanded?) in less than 2 days. Probably should tell Winter too since this is Outsider related and its kind of their job

This isn't the kind of news we should hold of on because someone might be sleeping.

[X] Call now, the whole city's on the clock

… How long would a city-god ritual take again?

It occurs to me* that with everyone of significance in this city fleeing town, incapacitated by curses in one way or another, or paralyzed by a desire not to break the current compromises, that this is probably the lowest interference period the city has seen or will see for a while.

If a certain infernal stumbled her way into a dragon nest and started a ritual cast then the script flips. Either Sandra hunts us down or we finish our god build and she has to choose between fighting a hefty place-spirit inside its domain or running into the arms of winter.

We talked about this before, but mostly in an anti-sin eater context after we get Sandra and not as a tactic for getting her to come to us.

* In a very "this is probably a bad idea but I'm still tempted" way to be perfectly honest.

He laughs mockingly though wthether aimed at himself or another it's hard to tell. "Maybe, though not seen my me. The shit-flinging Wyldfae have skipped town. That's never happened, not as long as I've been around nor any of my assoaciates. Anything's frightful enough to get through their addled skulls is reason enough to start walking and you've just confirmed the wisdom of following."
Also, this indicates to me that Winter is being fairly obvious in their preparations here. They had to contact the Dragon somehow, and if they're staging kill squads in the nevernever around the city then they've got to be disturbing something. The wyldfey booking it was probably a flag for anyone capable of contacting the spirit world to poke around their end of the block too.

I think that at this point we should inform winter about this (we have the estimated date and the scale is such that it is really good for them to be prepared, so we won't have to inform everything in the heat of battle, in the worst case scenarios). We should also, after the conversations, start summoning our death squads, invade as many of the city's data centers as possible and, as a precaution, prepare one of our nuclear spiritual bombs if things are truly FUBAR.

We have to actually start acting like 5 billion plus magical kingdom divine royalty, instead of just a more singular powerful agent.

Furthermore, we should talk to Charon, I'm a little suspicious of him because he's the only source of information about the Dragon. And I think the Dragon is more suffering from the effects of the death curse than dead (as Charon would know and tell who pays) and is leaving servants (who can be more easily controlled by Sandra without the Sin Eater's sponsorship) free to "maintain the status quo".

While this specifically is impossible, it does give me an idea - depending on how this goes, we might be the last power standing after this event resolves. Use one of summer favors for them to recognize our hold over the city and hold it for a year and a day for us. Create City God in that time and establish our foothold.

I don't think that we are interested in running Vegas.

Not day to day running, but transforming the city so it's not a den of vice, but something aking to our City of Fountains? That I could see Molly get behind. It has even been mentioned in-story by characters involved in running supernatural side of Las Vegas. I think it was Arlene.

And we have people to delegate to. If the security (for a year and a day) is guaranteed by Summer or Winter, we can relatively safely flood the city with our agents, and a year is more than enough to create both a spirit court who would handle invaders, and probably a manse for city-wide protective effects.

I am not interested in having to replace the Sin Eater with a different solution for the portal to the outside defense.

Unless of course Sandra has managed to make anything else not feasible.
Aka: Too early to discuss this, gotta see how it all turns out yet.

Cool and all, but would we Molly actually get anything from that? Not that it isn't a worthy cause, but our to do list is long and self imposed responsibilities many.

Resources 5, a lot of political sway on both mundane and supernatural sides of the world, access to powerful leylines?

To be clear, this is only a consideration in case, after this ends, the status quo cannot be returned to. Essentially, if we are the last survivor of the whole event. Like, local breach shut down / destroyed, Sin Eater either dead, or have left to wherever they were summoned from, etc.

EDIT: Basically, if the options are "leave small-timers to squabble over power vacuum, or let outside monsters, like Red Court, to move in" and "take over", I would vote for taking over.

Yeah, didn't realize the timeline was so long on that, but it makes sense in retrospect.

I'm reluctant to poke the sin eater too hard, but this seems like a plausible way to get ourselves a major city no one wants to mess with us in, which is a worthy use of a favor.

The way I see it we should reserve one from each court for post masquerade shenanigans so we can leverage the fey into protecting mortal civilization instead of kicking it while it's down. Those two also serve double duty as nuclear deterrence because we could still choose to use them whenever.

I don't want to waste the rest, but we can afford to use them more opportunistically.

Would kinda make a liar of us to the locals though.

I agree it's time to start playing like a hell planet instead of a demon hobo, but not with the idea of telling anyone shit about anything.

Everyone who matters is already aware that opening the back door to reality would be bad, that it'd specifically destroy the continent's biosphere isn't super useful. The existence of the solar and abyssal is the sort of secret that creates temptation we don't want to provoke.

In terms of death squads; demons only at this point would be for the best. We have lots of them and killing them doesn't actually stick unless they're using tools that maybe four people on earth in the canon Dresden Files ever had. Three of them are on our side and one is still sulking in a box, so we should be fine.

Maybe we could shuttle combat platforms for sutra over and use HMP to port specific volunteer spirits into them while Harry summons others like mages normally would? That way we can maximize our throughput. If we can take over a dragon nest quickly enough we could try setting up a ritual to tap it for juice so they have greater endurance in reality as well.

Personally, I actually worked on the assumption that by the end of this, Sin Eater would either be dead, or back wherever they were originally summoned from, and Outer Gate closed / destroyed. And yeah, having identical number of favors from both (in order to neutralize them if needed) is why I am proposing spending Summer favor only.

Also, Molly owning Las Vegas would be an interesting development. Just think of our high school graduation party.
