Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Although it has other uses being a walmart Imp power from Worm, I dimly recall us geting the anon charm so we can enter Vegas undetected but after showing up without it on and opening a Gate to the FC I expect people to know something big just showed up. Lash may also register loudly on people's radar too.
Lash shouldn't broadcast widely, no more than anyone else who is blasting out supernatural power all over the place. Molly, like a Skinwalkers, is a bit of a special case there.

We definitely should be using the stealth Charm, though. I would have preferred BMI for this, but the one we've got should work, too.

That is probably fine, Ferrovax would definitely consider that below his attention and every other dragon would have to enter reality and risk being murked by any amount of Warlocks, Wizards, Swords, Particularly ambitious Reds, Fey or sorcerers, Really hungry Jades and finally us To get at the hypothetical Young Air Dragon. No way that they could hide their entrance and their pride wouldn't let them even if they could.
Two notes there are only two Dragons in the world Ferrovax and one other. The rest are dead. dragons are far less a big deal and I'm not even sure are all just in the nevernever they're more what you get when you think fire breather movie dragons. Given there might be bigger deal Dragon like things like apophis or dragon gods like veies from Russia. But, they're probably limited in reality like any other gods who don't take the mortal nerf bat and so are a non factor.

[X] Henderson, stretching out to the southeast, attempting since the 1950s to be everything that the rest of Vegas is not—a place built on good civic values that boasts a much more diverse economy and support for local arts and culture.

…as if there is a choice.
Anything reminding me of Old Man Henderson, the man, the legend, gets an autopick.
May he be just as crazy (and awesome) in his next life!

Molly thinks back, as she prepares to raise the new god of Las Vegas using the corpse of a Nemesis infected sin eater fought at the Outer Gates. :p
A surprisingly plausible scenario, this one. If we somehow end up with the city on fire, the outer gates breached, and a giant fight against forces of horror on our hands, I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Well, in principle we have the reagent to make a water dragon splendor (based on Iku Turso). According to WoJ, Ferrovax and Pyrovax are alive, so we need a wood based reagent if we don't want to intrude upon their domains.

That was more in response to their comments about dragons coming out of the nevernever cause as far as we know there are no Dragons in the nevernever well Dragons who are actually Dragons. I mean there could be the nevernever is fucking huge.

We can't really afford that scenario.

Making a city god is itself a daunting task, let alone doing it under fire. Even if we manage that there's the issue that Molly is also the person most likely to survive trying to bar the way and she can't do that while crafting.

The only answer I can see to that would be to try cycling an army out of the FCF under cover from our circle and let them lead it to battle while we work.

Something that would likely be super casualty heavy in every possible way and couldn't guarantee that everything rushing the door would be kept out.

We'd probably survive but this would be an unequivocal failure whose greatest costs would be paid by the innocent people around us. Not that it wouldn't cost us, but the loss of resources and respect wouldn't even be a rounding error compared to say a wyrm spirit of the FCF getting hit by a spirit killer/eating a fate worse than death shaping effect or nearby mortals getting torn apart by lighting canon vs. eldritch energy beam crossfire.

There are dragons and then there are Dragons. The big 5 elemental Dragons made the lesser varieties as servants of various types, though these days they don't go to earth much.

Ferrovax literally shows up surrounded by a flight of his when Harry first encountered him, and while they're significantly lesser creatures the big Dragons still think they've got enough spark to allow them to use the name.

Those guys would be the ones to cause problems over it if anyone was.

Thats why I capitalized the name for the most part Dragons vs dragons. Also wait he showed up with a flight when they first encountered him didn't they meet in a vamp bar?

I assumed the scenario was more "the battle has ended, the nameless horror from beyond reality is either dinner or hiding on the other side the outer gates to avoid becoming one, sin eater is dead, and we need to reestablish local order". Ie the situation escalates to the point we pretty much have to take over in the wake of mass killings of local powers.

As long as we are respectful about it, I hope we can talk our way out of any ire. We are the closest thing to an authorized producer there is barring White God, after all.

Arc 11 Post 39: Watching the Watchers
Watching the Watchers

12th of January 2007 A.D.

One does not usually imagine arcane travel as slinking out of a golf course's water features, but such is the way of Henderson NV, a strange mix of foreign and familiar sights: palm trees sway over the even driveways of three bedroom houses, nary a dream of winter in the air. Somewhere just around the corner one can hear the distant sounds of traffic, muffled by distance and bylaws meant to keep any daring drivers off the roads Even plots of land sprawl along the shore of man-made Las Vegas Lake, cleaner by far that the Wash you had passed through and yet one cannot escape the sense that all of this is in service of someone else, something else which the good people of Henderson would not entirely approve of.

The golf course, still in construction, which is why you choose it for your means of egress, seems almost cyclopean compared to the quaint little town around it. Maybe it's having recently been water, but you wince inwardly at just how much has to be pumped to make these hillocks green. Can't the whole thing be sand traps?

As you ponder the matter you allow the fierce hot sun to try you off, arcanely unnoticed by any of the residents. Granted anyone magically sensitive would have felt the waters heave then, but the particular poise with which you hold yourself cares nothing for the nearness of the observer or the means by which they do so. A wizard and his scrying globe or someone watching a live feed on their security camera is just as vulnerable as that fellow over there in the Hawaiian pants looking with longing at the halcyon glory of golfing-to-be.

Lost 2 Essence -> Now at 13/15 (ATP and Etiquette Excellency)

Of course the issue is that everyone else isn't going to benefit from as solid of a veil, so instead of ducking into the nearest shed to get everyone here you decide to wait and watch, see what kind of welcoming party the whirling of the waters may have elicited. At firs the answer seems to be nothing, perhaps all the movers and shakers are busy on the Strip. Then, about forty minutes after you had come on the scene, a 1983 Chevy van trundles down the street, looking rather lost since it seems to be older than anything in this neighbourhood. Then the headlights flare on not the washed out white one would expect, but a ghostly blue... that no one else on the street seems to notice. Where you had crossed the road to get a better vantage point it marks splotches of glowing green.

Two men leave the van, wearing polo shirts and cargo shorts, in a manner that is anything but casual. Though unalike in features they are so similar in manner as to be confused for brothers. Partners then... and not in any peaceful trade from the bulges each keep at their hips. Intrigued you look deeper... and find the swirling red-black auras of the Red Court marked with the even white flashes that show them too be alert, motivated, but not overly worried. They actually are brothers, you realize after a moment, not in any mortal manner, but by the tainted blood that made them as they are. As for the van, well its a lot more interesting even than you first thought: Glamor Alive-not a van-not-made-a creature bound to serve, a colossal hunting hound, almost.. fey. Fortunately it seems entirely baffled by the trail in front of it.

Lost 2 Essence (Hellscry and ATB) -> Now at 11/15

You revise your estimation of the two vampires' bravery up two notches and their wits down the same amount, to be willing to ride around in what you are pretty sure is the creature's mouth, particularly as the false-car bears them clashing auras of bruise purple and and poisonous yellow, hatred and disdain. The closest comparison you can come to is how one might feel about an infestation of tapeworms

What do you do?

[] Leave and find a quiet room to bring the others through, you are satisfied that at the very least you will not be easy to track

[] Trail the strange trio, maybe the opportunity will arise to question them or save the 'van'

Thats why I capitalized the name for the most part Dragons vs dragons. Also wait he showed up with a flight when they first encountered him didn't they meet in a vamp bar?
During the chase scene where he nearly runs into him in the nevernever.

The general point here being that the ones personally created by the Dragons exist and are more potent than random dragon shaped nevernever spirits. Further, that even if they don't take personal action a proper Dragon who was offended by us making a juice box out of their peer could send them after us.

I still think it's worth doing, but the way you presented it made it sound like the options were reality destroying Dragon and random tangentially affiliated spirits.

I don't think that's a valid assumption. The outside is famous for its effectively limitless armies, and they don't exactly have the same logistical restraints humans do.

The sin eater is holding the opening shut, it isn't fighting the things trying to get in*. If the gate peels open I don't see any reason to believe that the Outside would allow the fight to end until at minimum they'd slipped more agents inside.

* Which says some weird things about reality's defenses, but presumably there's a reason for all of this that makes sense if you have more lore on border interactions.

As long as we are respectful about it, I hope we can talk our way out of any ire. We are the closest thing to an authorized producer there is barring White God, after all
Not saying we shouldn't, just wanted to point out there are entities with an interest in the issue beyond the big five and unaffiliated draconoid spirits.

Honestly, if there is any reason to call in a favor of the Fey, it would be a minor to mid-sized Outsider invasion.

They can keep our back free until we rebuild a gate or god or something that is both.

As a reminder, we don't know for sure it's a gate.

It might also be a powerful Outsider that is kept imprisoned by the Sin-Eater.
Or a bit of both.

Eh nah I was just stating your probably not gonna find big D Dragons in the nevernever. Probably the nevernevers huge. Also I'm not calling things in the nevernever weak I find there's basically countless overpowered bullshit in there.

True, but that's pricey and may take longer than we'd want to wait to organize. There's also the issue of finding out what a Winter warhost considers acceptable civilian casualties inside a major city when they're engaging in the exact activity that most loosens their restrictions.

Overall it's not worth it to knock over this sandcastle until and unless we have something ready to smoothly take over the defense first. I don't think flipping the table here is an option unless we're facing an immediate death in the party. Which is what makes this an appropriately challenging problem for an exalt.

As a reminder, we don't know for sure it's a gate.

It might also be a powerful Outsider that is kept imprisoned by the Sin-Eater.
Or a bit of both.

It could be a bit of both, but as far as Winter is concerned it's definitely gate enough to matter:

"You wish. No this was something from Outside, a being, a pathway, maybe both, Those old medicine men knew enough to be afraid for their lives and souls, for the lives and souls of their children and grandchildren unborn. So they called up a spirit of darker sort a sin eater and they bid it to hold the gate shut, bidding it to devour the unworthy who came close."

"There is a sin eater under Las Vegas?" you ask with dawning understanding, and not a little horror.

Lost 1 Essence -> Now at 12/15 (Occult Excellency)

"Yeah, turns out holding fast the gates of madness can't be done on the strength of eating the odd shifty wanderer forever. Back in 1905 the spirit started getting antsy, get weary maybe. He offered old bat ears a bargain: power, wealth, blood and sex, the works if he would help build a city of sin to feed it into the spirits black heart. Yeah, that's right, middle aged execs blowing their kids' college funds on coke and call girls have been keeping one of the backdoors of reality safe. 'Just one more round of blackjack,' they cried and the world got to keep spinning one more day." Maeve giggles."The Dragon's a cup-bearer, no more and no less, but it gives him great power in his domain, enough that it would be difficult to shift him and even if we did..."

"Your prize would be brand new front, assuming the changeover would even work out cleanly," you finish mind whirling with dark imaginings. "I assume you sent a message about what Sandra is." Truth be told you would not put it past Maeve to not have done that just so she would have her vengeance, but Mab has more sense than her daughter.

They're willing to tolerate this situation because they believe that even occupying the city wouldn't allow them to permanently solve the issue and that the situation would effectively equate to guarding two gates.

I'm inclined to trust their judgement on this, and not gamble on the idea that we have the exact bullshit needed to perfectly solve this problem available to implement at the drop of a hat.

Eh nah I was just stating your probably not gonna find big D Dragons in the nevernever. Probably the nevernevers huge. Also I'm not calling things in the nevernever weak I find there's basically countless overpowered bullshit in there.
Pretty sure @Degorium was talking about lesser dragons in the original comment you replied to, because the proper Dragons have to worry about breaking the planet, not being ganked by warlocks or red vampire nobility.

They do have to worry about the knights of the cross, but that's a special case since it involves a mortal coming at them armed with a Celestine tier entity cosplaying as a sharpened metal stick.

[X] Trail the strange trio, maybe the opportunity will arise to question them or save the 'van'

In most horror stories, you follow the protagonist(s) trailed by some unseen, foreboding monster with terrible intentions in mind.

In this horror story, Molly is the monster.
