Of Delegation and Invitation

"Mhm, yep, just clean extractions, if you can make it so the vampires do not know who did it that would be great, but I am mostly interested in the people being clear.
I gave my word."
"Understood, your down-payment has been received, with the rest owed on completion," the calm professional voice with just a hint of an accent you cannot place, replies. For all the world you could have been contracting an electrician to look at the wiring or a catering company for an event, which you guess is the hallmark of truly
efficient mercenaries.
Alas the need for what Thomas calls 'financial hygiene' and what you call shenanigans means that
all the money has to all go into a holding account in Lebanon right now, a blow to the finances of Chicago Synthetics even when one counts divesting about half of Arnianna's walking around money into the company coffers. Where exactly Thomas found someone who will take a half full over the counter duffel bag of hundred dollar bills and put it in a bank account you do not know because you do not have to.

"Who was that on the phone?" Mom asks having somehow sneaked up behind you.
Darn it.

The conversation that followed that encounter was
not what you had expected, so much so that by the next day you are still mulling it over in your head. Not only had your mother not seen anything wrong in dealing with private military contractors as long as it was for a good cause she had proceeded to ask Dad if he could use the help doing good works. True the answer had been a polite refusal, but still that sounded like something
you would ask.
Of course you are not going to have to make use of Monoc's resources for things like this for long. Thomas has the papers lined up for discrete agents from the Five Courts as soon as you get the people over to have their various pictures and measurements taken. This time you won't be going along either, not only are you going to take Lydia again to have a talk with the Keepers of the Final Passage, but also Olivia and Daniel to have a look at some weapons and potential instructors.
Your little brother could be described as 'gung ho' and trying not to show it
too much whereas Olivia... well she does not know where you are going, just that you had found her potential trainers if she can free up the weekend for it. Part of you had almost hoped that she had changed her mind, but no. If anything the furor caused by the Merlin rolling into town had made her even more resolved to find some kind of security apart from the auspices of the White Court.
"Big Hat magic man rolls into town and we all have to pull on our forelocks and courtsy like medieval serfs, hope he does not notice us. Screw that."
Even though you do point out the Merlin would not actually have expected any kind of special deference she counters that he had not gone out of his way to calm spirits either, just rolled into town, empty out Mac's place for the evening did his business and rolled out. Ignoring the disguiet of her fellow talents had been in her eyes almost a worse sin than having caused it himself. You wonder how she is going to react to Sanctuary... and you consider how to present the news of your new station.
[] Focus on your secular duties: I might not know what I am doing, but I am trying to learn and not break anything in the meantime
[] Focus on the metaphysics: You know how I told you my power is old strange. Well turns out I did not know the half of it
[] Write in
OOC: A bit of a short update, but Olivia is the firs member of the Order of the Cauldron you are taking to your realm, how you choose to do so is quite relevant.
