Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

That assumes that anyone but them knows that she's a drug addict. Has she ever been in rehab? I don't actually remember, but it's possible that they are concealing the fact that she was addicted (was, because magic cheating to kick the habit).

I mentioned this before - start buying our the apartment complex where we put Bane in and start a whole little god court.

You would need Resources 5 for that. Resources 4 means you would seriously damage your resources if you try to get something that expensive... unless you do something extra like force a company to sell the building with some demon haunting.

The appropriate response to that sort of ennui is reassurance, not ignoring the point altogether
Which is what the Con option is saying by insisting we can go to the Con anyway: Some things have changed, some things wont.
I'm all for offering reassurance. But the Con isn't that, it's a classic conversational misstep: instead of offering reassurance and discussing emotions and offering validation of those emotions, it tries to undercut the validity of her emotions with a practical solution to a minor part of the issue.

She wants to be understood, not fixed.

Another horror-con sounds like a terrible idea.
Lots of bad memories all around, a dead boyfriend and two mind-damaged friends and so on. Also lots if Fetches givin some nightmares.

Not that Rosie can't have fun anymore after the child, but that particular event pushes all the wrong buttons.
That's a good point. We should find something with fewer traumatic associations to serve the same purpose.

What other hobbies does she have @DragonParadox ?

If she was into dnd or something like that we could start an Ordo campaign and kill two birds with one stone in reassuring her while also getting her involved in a new peer group.

Hopefully she wasn't big into anything too physical, since it'd be hard to take her hiking or something while pregnant, but we could plan a future trip just as we would be for the convention if that's the case.

Hell, I'd take six flags over going to a horror convention and either or both of them needing to roll willpower against traumatic flashbacks or whatever.

  • [X] Yeah they have. Listen did Sandra ever say anything odd to you... or just anything that sticks out in your mind? It could be important.
[X] Nannies exist. Do you remember being three months old? I don't, the baby will be fine, won't even know you were gone

We should probably do an Ordo/vampire heavy turn after the skinwalker is dealt with if something urgent doesn't come up in the aftermath.
I can agree with that. We have a number of outstanding events / things that tie to White Court.

Hmm... Ok, proably a good idea to push to resources 5. I'd prefer a tech startup with cyberdevil services, but I can see why people would want lottery instead.

Molly has played RPG with Rosie and they have talked about LARPing, but that is a bit more awkward now that one of the parties involved has hellfire magical girl powers and you know the friend group breaking up. Apart from that they share a taste in music, grunge, heavy metal. no small amount of pop thrown in there. They went though the common 'lets start a band' phase before realizing none of them have much musical talent and no one even knows where to start with the organizational part. Rosie wanted to be a screenwriter at one point but that is part of the horror stuff since that is what she wrote.

The option isnt offering to fix her though.
And I dont really agree that its a misstep to suggest holding on to an old plan, an old interest in the face of accelerating changes.

If anything, simply ignoring the subject and moving on to something else is worse IMO.

Rosie's trauma associations are with the horror movie villain that attacked her, Hammerhand or whatever, not horror movies in general. And I think we told her it was a Fetch.
Molly wasnt present for any of the attacks, so she has no relevant triggers.

So, would shared dreams (done consensually) be a Law violation (invading the mind of others)? Because oneiromantic RPG DMing sounds like an awesome idea. Also, we should introduce her to Alphas (and get to know them ourselves).

Arc 8 Post 4: Recollections Bright and Dark
Recollections Bright and Dark

3rd of November 2006 A.D.

"Nannies exist," you point out. Not everything has to change. "Do you remember being three months old? I don't, the baby will be fine, won't even know you were gone."

"Mothers are supposed to want to be with their babies," Rosie answers defensively, but you can hear the edge of longing in her tone, maybe not for the con itself, but what it represents, a plan kept on its tracks from before, a throughline in a world gone mad.

"If you wanna cancel after you give birth that's fine, but I have to tell you as the big sister of six all of which I love to bits now, the first few months, they are not fun. Three hour feeding schedules are nuts and I wasn't the one getting up for them. "

"Way to encourage me Molls," Rosie grumbles, but you can see a smile peeking through like the sun through the clouds. She catches herself and adds. "You know if this were a movie the audience would be shouting at the screen about now. Find out there are vampires and monsters out there go to a horror convention again... God."

"I mean vampires are real, they are all over the place, there's no reason for them to lurk around conventions,"you counter. Well that and you don't think the sort of opportunistic supernatural predator who'd hang around a con would be a threat to you. If anything it's sticking around me that puts Rosie into more danger, you think guiltily.

"I'd stick around horror cons if I were a vampire, I mean if you were eternally damned you might as well hang around people who think you are cool for it." Such a silly thing to say. You could imagine her saying it munching the last of the popcorn as Ken and Nelson argued in the background over which is the best Halloween movie and Sandra met your eyes with a wink. But now Ken's dead, Nelson is gone and Sandra... Sandra was apparently never your friend and was in fact a servant of evil gods from beyond the bounds of space and time. Part of you wonders if you should tell Rosie about that. But but what good would it do really? She only half believes in vampires, intellectually yes but not emotionally, Outsiders make even the horrors of the Red Court seem humane.

"Tell you what, do you want to meet a real vampire? A nice one... well OK, she owes me too, but she's nicer than most as well."

After a moment's thought Rosie nods curiously and you call up Isabela who arrives with behind the wheel of Black Rider looking distinctly too young to be driving but otherwise dressed for clubbing, or maybe dancing the tango with silver combs in her hair. "Good evening, you must be Rosanna, I heard a great deal about you, all good of course."

Rosie gives her a funny look, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Even Isabela's exasperated sighs come off as cute. "You are a friend of my liege lady, I'm not sure how formal you expect me to be, just because she's into the lèse-majesté doesn't mean you're into the same verbal register."

Snorting with laughter a little you motion at the skyline all around. "This is what's called a clue, cultural context I heard it called. and you didn't do that with Izzy and Alec."

"You are not training either of them in magic," she rolls her eyes as though that explains everything, even though you are pretty sure the White Court does not hold minor talents in any great regard.

"Wait, wait, wait liege lady," Rosie shakes her head as though in wonderment. "But you always wanted to play the knight not the queen."

Explaining tree house adventures to Isabela leaves her as confused as Rosie had been at her introduction, unsurprisingly they did not have that at Chateaux Asshole, but you do have some things in common. She's into old French movies, including horror ones, though more on the psychological thriller side than the campy slasher stuff you and Rosie are so you good naturedly poke fun at each other's tastes on the way to 'a club'.

"Surprise me," you had said to Black Rider and he'd endeavored to do so by driving around the old industrial buildings Southside until he reaches one that had been temporarily, and no doubt illegally, transformed into rave central, metal blaring out of speakers loud enough to wake the dead... and lyrics which seem to be encouraging them do do so.

"I'm not dressed for that," Rosie says. She sounds wistful. Suddenly her body language changes, from relaxed, half joking to wide-eyed clutching the edges of her seat for dear life. "Lets get out of here, please."

Following her gaze you spot a pair guy with a cat tattoo across his face pass a bag of white powder to a girl in a hot pink jacket.

"Drive!" you command the car without the 'please' you usually add.

The fact that Rosie ends up trying to apologize to you over her reaction does not make you feel any less like shit at the reminder of your handywork. There's nothing you can do to fix it, not with all your power. A curse isn't an evil spirit.

"In Verdant Emptiness mind body and soul can be healed Lady of Thrice Gilded Magnanimity, for those you favor, or those you wish to bind," Usum answers the thought. Somehow you are not even surprised. Mephistopheles-to-Be rides in a car with an unseen demon driver between a vampire and a dreamer true. It sounds like the first verse in the kinds of songs you used to love, that you still love, it's just that now you also get to live them

There are other clubs you can go to, tonight, tomorrow, the day after that, for now that's enough.

What do you want to do next?

[] Attend school you have friends at school and you would like the memories of senior year and graduation even if they won't be teaching you anything worthwhile (If neither School nor getting your GED is chosen Molly will systematically skip class)

[] Restoring the Last Station: Restoration efforts have been going well and according to Adam some more of the people down in the tunnels have shown interest in their newfound wealth and comfort (6/10) [+extra AP from potion]

[] Chariots for the One Eye: As part of her deal to ally against the Will of Kakuri you promised Odin vehicles hit for his warriors, time to show your chops.

[] The Bridges of the Spirit, continue your training with Brother Divsimar not in the ways of the spirit but the mind, the Bridge of Dreams

[] The Seeker Sought given that you can teleport now maybe you can find a Medicine Man of the blood to deal with the Naagloshii. Given what you know of Broken Seeker and his... people now perhaps they would be more inclined to help you deal with them. Even if you do not find any takers you can deal with him.

OOC: Given how you interacted with Bela I figured inviting her for a girl's night out makes sense and it helps ease Rosie into magic a bit more.

I just want to level up Molly a bit before she got into more shenanigans.

Bela has passed all the "behaves around teenagers" checks so far, except for the chuuni act, so that's fine for me.

The sooner we get the no-sleep combo of this and either the Lanka or Skinning Charm for no sleep, the better we are off. Especially if we move in with Rosie and a newborn.

Poor Rosie. Her first introduction to Vampires, rather than the stereotypical bloodsucker she's come to expect through a lifetime of fiction, is a pretty "not-melt-in-the-sun" psychic Vampire named Bella of all things.

She must be expecting a film crew to pop out any second and tell her she's on Candid Camera.

Actually, have either Rosie or Isabela read Twilight?
