Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Someday we are going to get a bakemono charm and when our army of demons tear enemies that would beat Molly to shreds you are all going to wonder why we delayed so long.

Action economy it's a hell of a drug. Also each individual bakemono could have an ability that we would normally need to buy a charm or skill to fill the nich of.

[X] Plan See and Kick
-[x] Molly: 22xp
-[x] Hellscry Chakra: 8xp
-[x] Running to Forever, 4 XP
-[x] Murder is Meat, 4 XP
-[X] Athletics 3, 6 XP
-[x] Lydia: 7xp + 7xp (25% of Molly's + 1)
-[x] Hunter's Bolt: 6 XP
-[x] Command The Dead: 3xp
-[x] Authority of the Psychopomp: 3xp
-[x] Alertness 2: 2xp

Propably too late to have a chance with this plan, but I've wanted more Athletics for a while now.
Next time Sandblast to use it.
Running to forever is not as good as the other speed-charm, but getting a reflexive run-action each turn still effectivly doubles our movement-speed.
Ranged option for Lydia is also important (I know her Dex+Athletics isn't great yet, but it falls under Excellency).

dont see any independent means of learning this without dealing with Winter.
NWS any Nemesis possessed person. A large number of crown related questions. Hellscey Chakra a possessed mortal or summer fae. Continue study of ancient lore. Pull on the "Black Court serve the f*cringed Neverborn" plot thread. Interact with White Council more. Interact with Odin more (that's a terrible idea). Get Uriel to tell us. Crown question or NWS an outsider. That's from the top of my head. Lots of options.

She's Mab.
Queen of Air and Darkness. Defender of the Outer Gates and guarantor of the Unseelie Accords.
Everyone deals with her. Uriel deals with her if the events of Small Favor are to be recalled correctly.

The key is to avoid being in debt by planning ahead.
And not attempting to fuck with the woman.
Because she bears a grudge.

Where you fuck yourself is in trying to avoid dealings until you are actually in trouble, then come crawling to make a deal.
Most people dont get off as easy as Dresden.
No, Mab isn't some kind of "everyone eventually comes crawling to me begging for help" ultimate power behind the setting. Mab is a leader of Western based power with global reach. Everyone might be affected by her global actions, but far from everyone has to deal with her.

We'll have to make deals with Mab. Bet on it.
I will not. Make deals with Mab that is. She only has as much power over us as we give her. And it's precisely because most don't get terms as "generous" as Dresden did that I won't deal with her. Mab is evil. Probably the most evil you can be while still being on the side of good broadly and strategically speaking. If we are forced to stoop down to dealing hpwith her, we have already lost.

So elaborating further remember how we worked with the order to make watchful bane? Imagine if we did a similar ritual when awakening someone's inner darkness.

I'm all for expanding our faction and Inner Devils Unchained will allow us to make our followers that much more effective. They'll be better able to defend themselves and each other. One of the biggest weaknesses of the Exalted is getting swarmed by lesser opponents and the best way around that is having your own small army at your back.

I still want to mention Hunter's Bolt:
  • It hits as hard as a good handgun, at no cost at all. Always armed.
  • It cana deal Aggravated Damage if you pay for it
  • It has not a great range, as a sniping weapon, but a decent one
All around solid pick that leaves Lydia always armed, just as we are.
5 Damage doesn't sound much for Exalted, but a human will propably go down (though not die) in one decent hit.

Bakemono in general are cursed, wretched beings living pitiful existence and, in at least some cases, would be begging for death if they could. We very specifically don't get to avoid the downsides and risks. In fact, there's only one charm that mitigates the risks - Baptismal Agony Blessing, where we get to choose one thing that wonders ruined by the transformation - looks, mind, or health. Only one, though, not two or all three.

Until and unless we get to make sure that our "gifts" won't actually ruin the person we are giving them to, which likely would take VEE or wondercraft to enhance the bakemono making charm, I am against it.

1. There is an informal post by the QM on the topic
2. Inner demons unleashed allows for taking it back if it's a bad idea
3. Those Bakemono are often very badly treated
4. There is nothing stopping us from using the charm on a pack of dogs that we pick up from yes kill animal shelters.
5. Yes we get to mitigate downsides. It's called mercy in Servitude.

So everything you said and the assumptions behind it seems to be wrong and I am getting tried of seeing this repeated.

No, not at all. Mab doesn't have a hold on us so far. I am absolutely opposed to letting her get one. Like at all. We have promised to call her and to talk to her. Nothing else. I am absolutely against making any sort of deal with her.
She could try and claim one, to be fair. Our Exaltation was in Arctis Tor, after all, and one could say we technically stole it from her. That may well be enough of a hold for Mab to leverage against us. Now, how much she could leverage it is a different question entirely.

That only works if we ever for a moment entertain the idea that it ever belonged to her. If anything she owes us for keeping it prisoner.

She could do something stupid like that. We could ask the Crown, "what information will see Mab dead the quickest when spread?"

Nobody's going to do either because they're both unwise decisions, but it's always good to remember we have way more actual leverage than any theoretical leverage Mab has over us.

Best part is, Mab doesn't know that at all (otherwise we'll be dodging Winter assassins/kicking off the end of the Winter court), though that does mean she won't treat us as having leverage.

The Crown is insanely dangerous. There's a reason we've tried to keep hush-hush about it. Information is power and we can get any information with ease.

@DragonParadox given that we have some white vampires in poor physical condition, are we going to automatically give them MMP so their hungers heal them faster or do we have to vote for that? And will we have to vote to leave a supply of MMP in our minions' possession whether they need to fight at full strength or not?

I'm asking because these two things seem too obvious to need a vote.

This is actually convincing. Lydia does lack attack power. If ambushed she has little means of escaping or fighting back. I would however, go a bit differently.

[X] Say goodbye
-[X] Offer training and equipment instead
-[X] STUNT: "Believe me. I know the feeling. I really do. I grew up with it, even. I won't provide a magical immediate solution right now, not when you are so angry and not thinking clearly. What I will provide, however, are the means. I'll talk to some people, arrange training in how to fight, provide equipment if you want it. And if, by Christmas, you still want to keep fighting, we'll discuss the topic again. I might have something by that time".

[X] Plan Court and War
-[x] Molly: 24 xp
-[x] Wind-born Stride: 8xp
-[x] Maggot Mana Plague, 8 XP
-[x] Murder is Meat, 4 XP
-[X] Rendered Villain Dispersal, 4 xp
-[x] Lydia: 7xp (25% of Molly's, rounded down 29 / 4 = 7.25 = 7) + 5 xp = 12 xp
-[x] Hunter's Bolt: 6 XP
-[x] Command The Dead: 3xp
-[x] Authority of the Psychopomp: 3xp

One xp banked. Maggot Mana Plague for managing our newborn court. Wind-born Stride and Murder is Meat for combat. Rendered Villain Dispersal because damnit, we canonly react, and I really want to have fun exploring Great Lakes and the ocean floor. Also, I just plain like Wind-Born Stride better than Hellscry Chakra. It's a passive always on change that further makes Molly different. I want passives. I like passives. They are fun and narratively interesting (like, Molly at school running at phys.ed. is going to be interesting).

Lydia gets to make herself a court and entirely disposable minions, gets armed, and gets better at social combat in general.

So, yeah, sorry guys who voted for me. This is me throwing my hands up in frustration, flipping the table and just trying to have fun. This is my fun option. I want to make mutant not-quite-white vampires that are different. Explore the ocean floor for ancient treasure. And be a Murder blender when needed.

Given that it does have mind altering effects that is going to be a vote rather than automatic.

She tried to get us to acknowledge such a debt during our first meeting. We didn't, and she dropped the issue (for now). For a debt to exist, we have to agree to it, it seems.
Then change the question to "What information would Mab least want to be known". That keeps in the present tense.
I am planning to propose we spend an AP (if we have enough) on finding crown foci related to Mab, and asking a number of questions before meeting her.

I do like the idea of Lydia getting Hunter's Bolt, even if it does eat into our XP expenditure. Also glad to see another plan with both RVD and WS.
