Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

That was when they told her they could see her. Not when they actually noticed her magic signature.
This is not supported by textual evidence at all. We have no evidence they did, and they behaved like they didn't. Also, I remembered a very good counter-counter-example: Mouse. Who is a semi-divine being (a far younger and far more semi- than a naagloshii, but actually specialized / bred for the purpose of sensing evil). Who detected us only when he laid his eyes on us, from up close. None of your examples felt us from more than a hundred meters away (most of them had to be closer), within direct line of sight of us.
TLDR
You can claim to have mcguyvered a EM rifle in your garage as a hobbyist, entirely legally, and draw nothing more than a raised eyebrow. People have been doing this with various levels of sophistication since at least the 1980s.
McGuyvering a multikilowatt antipersonnel pulsed laser rifle, otoh, is a rather more hair raising event.
No cop should be able to recognize a "multikilowatt antipersonnel pulsed laser rifle". Plus, a laser is a tool. A railgun is a weapon, and a weapon only.
Even Dresden lives in a basement with no hot water in Chicago winters.
He could do better if it was a priority.
Dresden lives in a basement with no hot water only for the lack of choice, brought on by money problems, social problems, and inability to control techbane.
The problem really is that this threat conspires to sideline most of our normal allies with its magical stealth.
The problem is that we aren't willing (or at least aren't discussing the possibility) of spending resources to deal with it. We have gossamer, and we can buy alchemy. Magical poison making is 1 dot. So, the plan would go like this:
1) Spend 1 AP investigating naagloshii (go to Nevada using RVD if needed, burn a question using some books on Navajo myths) find out what it's vulnerable to, if anything.
2) Make poison potent enough to affect it. That's entirely doable. Use gossamer to enhance the poison, and further curse said poison using the same procedure we did when making Bane. With Harry and Lydia participating, we can reliably get 20+ successes.
3) Find it. Use the Crown if needed, to find it.
4) Attack it, using poison, Shintai, and GSNF. Fairly sure that between all of these we can take it.

The only big issue is resource commitment and tracking it down.
Dracula his son appeared in the historical record in the early 15th century.

Five hundred years plus and a Solaroid has managed fewer waves than Dresden did in fifty? I just dont find it likely we can simultaneously claim individual Celestials are setting-shaking events and that Vlad Drakul is an Abyssal that has been up and about for more than five hundred years.
I would consider setting up Black Court to be setting shaking.

I don't want to use gossamer on fighting Broken Seeker. If we decide that it is a threat worth expending the valuable resource then we should just hire up a fairy strike team.

But I would actually rather get out of our enemy status.
"There's talk of someone new out by the Barrels, real unfriendly sort, tore up one of Doc Strange's and sent him back in pieces ."

Doc Strange as you learn is an drug dealer and probable sorcerer who cooks his meth down there to stay off the cops' radar. He;s got a gang of about 'thirty mostly mortals' over by Fire's Pass, a collection of rooms and tunnels left over nearely intact from the Great Fire and buried. Even the fact that you have a meth dealer for a neighbor can't quite beat how the Barrels got their name...

"Radioactive waste, you are telling me there is radioactive waste down here and the section of tunnels they are in is attractive enough that something moved in and is defending it against all comers. Why?"

"Well it's not really a good place for mortals to hang around so it makes it a good hide out from those who are hard enough and don't want to be bothered. Most folk down here are mortals after all."

So what do you think the chances are that the new tough customer who isn't bothered by radiation and doesn't want to be bothered by mortals is Broken Seeker?

WoD Demons are both a lot more flexible in their powers, and on the average kinda weaker than Denarians.
maybe if we are talking unbound denarians?

Because some time ago I stumbled upon a calculation online. A mid tier earthbound with Lore of Chaos can cause apocalyptic effect that would cover the whole earth. That ain't bad at all. Higher end vanilla demons aren't bad either, like miles wide earthquakes not-bad.

Generally, I have found that WoD (and related) are a bit weird compared to other verses. Less direct power and much more hax.

I do find it interesting that the mortals of undertown have been avoiding us. Not because we scream princess of hell on mystic senses, but just because we walk through undertown without fear.

Selling the Diamond was a higher DC then I would have hoped. Hopefully that is just because it's the first batch. Also I know that we shouldn't be applying Exalted standards, but it's a little disappointing that Thomas can only manage 6 dice.

Calculus almost kicked our butt even with the DC reduction. It sucks not being able to ignore 1s.

I look forward to telling Dresden about the Jade dogs, but of course we should just tell him that seems like bragging. We mention it when it becomes relivent.

Getting mortal empowerment charms is looking more tempting. We will soon be able to mass apply them for a force multipler.

Can the process we use to create diamonds be tweaked to determine the shape of the final product? For example, could be grow a diamond knife blade? I doubt it would be a practical weapon, but there are bound to be collectors who would fall all over themselves to own something like that.

More practically, custom grown diamonds for precision optics, computer components, and medical implants all seem like they might be profitable.

[X] Just the vampires

Becoming one of the pre-eminent supernatural factions is a good enough goal. I don't want to mission creep Molly into taking over the entire city.

You think too small. The city is just the start.

I was going to write a stunt about how Molly does a mass buy from Ikea for flat pack furniture, but then I realized that thanks to TLF, Charred Sinner Renewal and TTC it is likely quicker for Molly to craft furniture in undertown out of odds and ends then it would be to go up and buy it. Likely gets better results as well.
[X] Vampires and humans, you can help everyone
-[x][stunt] You consider going up and buying a bunch of furniture from Ikea. You have Money now, but the idea of walking all the way up, having to go through the check out line and carrying the boxes down here seems so much more time consuming and labor intensive then just assembling some bunk beds and other furniture out of the spare bits of trash you find in undertown. It's also a lot more fun then trying to work out Ikea instructions. These table legs can be fitted to this pipe. It's like putting together a puzzle except you aren't constrained by any original design or intent. Even the Jade dogs seems to get into it bring you all sorts of odds and ends just to see what you will manage to do with them. As a bonus the tunnels are looking alot cleaner without all the clutter all over the place.

Also we are going to need a stunt for attracting humans. It seems like a cookout isn't sufficient.
OOC: Keep in mind Sarah is one of the most human ghouls and even she said that 'food chain' line without batting an eye. There would be some issues integrating vanilla humans, whether that is still worth it given the risks to the human population in these tunnels is your call.

I missed this bit. There likely will be issues, but if we don't give the ghouls and vampires chances to socialize with humans it is going to rather limit our ability to integrate them back into society. But we might want to up the priority on getting that training charm. Nothing like putting a group though boot camp to get them to work together.

Normally, yeah.
Thing is, against whats essentially an unrestricted Native American minor god of terror, of our current party member options the only one who is combat-relevant really is Michael.
Do we know for certain that we can harm it?
IIRC it took being… how close was it to the nuke? It took that in order to kill(?) one through brute force. AFAIK we do not have that level of firepower. I do think that it's reasonable to assume that Amorrachius doesn't care too much about that because it is one of the Swords, TBF, but if that's the only way we can do anything to it… We're going to be in pretty bad shape.

Well if we are now able to make something like half a million per AP I am not sure that going for a lottery is actually worthwhile.
Time is money, and $450,000 is a pittance in the grand scheme of things. I would rather make the investment in time and effort to get a large lottery win so we can stop burning AP for cash, once the option becomes available.

So now that we are flush with cash how much do you think that we should pay Thomas the financial assistant who helped make it happen?

COMMENTARY
Loling at calculus almost whipping our butts. Phenomenal cosmic power, mediocre high school grades,

450k woo!
Given Thomas' cut, corporate taxes and other business expenses, I think its probable that Molly just made her first million dollar month in gross income. Which is great, because it looks like she's gonna need it.

Just replacing the two Carpenter family cars is gonna be a hundred kay if we buy new; roughly forty for a top trim Honda Odyssey minivan before taxes, and a new F-250-class 2008 model pickup for Michael is gonna be fiftyish top trim. Before taxes.
Personal cars is for after we hit the lottery.

===
Hilarious how much Molly doesnt realize how much she's changed.
Strolling through Undertown in full confidence that if some unfortunate soul should start shit, she'd finish it.

===
Doctor Strange is cooking meth? L
ies; obviously dodging Marvel's lawyers :V. Either that, or something went seriously wrong in Kamar-Taj.

Jokes aside, his crew is not entirely mortal, so this guy either has magic or has a very strong personality.
And while Molly is not disposed to like drug dealers, he's still apparently supporting 30 people.
Withold judgement for the moment. At least he's serving as a buffer between us and whatever's out by the Barrels.

===
Humans? That was always a foregone conclusion once the baby cried.
Michael and Charity's daughter isnt going to leave a baby out in the cold when she can afford to do something about it. And while there are likely to be difficulties, Transcendent Lord of Flies applies here.

And we achieve economies of scale buying in bulk anyway.
High double digits of people is the point where it starts making sense to have stores make deliveries to drop off points.

I think that its probably the naagloshii out by the Barrels, btw.
Something tough enough to ignore radioactive waste and deliberately setting up base where it wont be bothered? Small list.
Which suggests we can expect Doc Strange's group are gonna die really soon now; I doubt the naag will be able to help itself attempting to snack on a magic worker.

Rough numbers. We have 450k in hand.
Assuming that represents 90% of net, and Thomas took 10%/50k as his fee/salary as CEO, that means our net was half a million dollars.

If we spent half our gross this month on taxes and business expenses (warehouse acquisition and outfitting, business registration, etc) with the remainder going into company financial reserves as operating funds, and then split the final 50% between Molly and Thomas, that means our gross was roughly a million dollars.

We made 25x diamonds of 7.7 carats each, totaling 192.5 carats. If a million dollars, that comes to an average of $40k per 7.7 carat diamond, or ~$5200 a carat. For reference Im seeing prices of $1600 to $25000 per carat depending on quality, with size and quality fetching premiums. And this is 2006, so labgrown diamonds of that size and quality will fetch more than now.

So yeah, looks reasonable for first-time wholesale diamond pricing.

Groceries
Normal human groceries is 300 a month. 2x modifier for feeding ghouls because of their appetite.
Currently spending 600 bucks a month per ghoul. 9 ghouls. $5400/month

Assuming our group grows by an order of magnitude or so?
20 ghouls = 12,000
70 vanilla mortals and Whamps = 21,000
Additional contingency funds= 8,000
First aid: 2,000
Other supplies(clothes, additional camping supplies, entertainment, etc) = 20,000

Total=63k
Which would leave us with 387k this month.

It's a reasonable extrapolation given our sword can harm outsiders like Amorrachius
Fair enough, and if Amorrachius can't harm this fuck… is there anything Amorrachius can't harm, if it really needs to?
That said, it's not outside the realm of possibility that this guy has stupid high amounts of soak, either, and while IDK about Amorrachius, I don't think that we have any unsoakable damage effects yet? Agg damage excepted, but I think that there are some things that let you soak it?

Also, two more things about the Naagloshii that Morgan killed.
1. How close was it to the nuke that killed it?
2. Are we positively certain that it was killed by it? Certain types of Perfect Defenses may be capable of letting it survive…

QUESTION
1)How many additional people are we looking at? Human, whampire, ghoul?
2)Whats Molly's estimate about when she should have the people here prepared for winter?
3)Can we use the entrypoint at the Nazi barbershop as a focus to map Undertown?

Fair enough, and if Amorrachius can't harm this fuck… is there anything Amorrachius can't harm, if it really needs to?
Nope.
Not that we've seen.

What about molly's teenage mother friend i forget the name of?
Rosanna Marcella. Due date is in January iirc.
We're working towards that as well.
Still training her to Oneiromancy 1.

Well if we are now able to make something like half a million per AP I am not sure that going for a lottery is actually worthwhile.
Half a million net per month is just over seven million a year.
One project will wipe that out trivially.

Yes. Dresden hurt it with magic and soulfire, and Injun Joe mauled it in shapeshifter form.
I think its safe to assume that the demon sword that drove Iku Turso back into his prison, and murdered a bunch of Outsiders, will harm, if not outright kill the naagloshii. Its not undying; it can demonstrably be killed or banished.

The problem is reaching it.
