Burning our favours to help them deal with their Chaos cult is kind of doing them a favour, in a pretty Marine-style "cruel love"/"what does not kill you makes you better at serving Emperor" way.

Playing tattletale on the AdMech to the Inquisition is not only a waste of a good favor, it is by most measures; a violation of the Treaty of Olympus Mons. The Inquisition has no say in AdMech affairs (publicly) without approval of the appropriate techpriest or in extreme circumstances that must later be verified by a presiding, ranking techpriest as well as the Ordo Machinus of the Inquisition. The Ordo Malleus does not handle this sort of investigation anyway...

Additionally; the AdMech has numerous organs designed to investigate things like the cleansing and repair of formerly-chaos equipment (especially naval or Titan hulks), cults, sabotage and the like. The component orders of the Collegiate Extremis will take care of this as is their legal right. Sure they dropped the ball this time but by that logic we should never trust the Inquisition either because they allows chaos cults to form.

As @Garlak said, this is also a slap in the face to the Mechanicum, especially a forgeworld already thankful and in an exceptional working relationship with our chapter.

Either accept the damned gifts, or don't. There's an old saying about horses and their mouths here...

We're not asking the Inquisition to investigate them, merely to clandestinely inspect the stuff that we get to ensure that it is demon free; this isn't the only daemonic cult issue they've had as I recall. If the AdMech complain, we can point out that, really, it's quality assurance upon our work that there are no more cultists active upon Zeus, for surely they'd try to get back at us for wiping out their brethren. Alternatively, rather than it being the Ordo Malleus, we contact their Cogboy equivalent for the same thing.

Aside from that, we're Space Marines. "In the God-Emperor we trust, everyone else keep your mechadendrites where we can see them."

The Ordo Malleus handles demons and demon corrupted stuff.

We're not asking them to look into Forge World Zeus. We are asking them to look into the wargear of the Fourth Company, which has lately spend time on Forge World Zeus exterminating a sizable and dangerous Chaos cult that killed some 3 squads worth of Space Marines and wounded the remainder through demons and magic. As such, we are confident that while our gear is clean, we want an independent and expert body quietly verify it because Chaos is insidious.

That much of Fourth Company's gear was destroyed in the battle and has been replaced for free by Forge World Zeus in repayment is entirely besides the point, and if you say otherwise the Crimson Crusaders have no idea what you intend to insinuate. So go bother someone else.

I feel like burning yet another favor from the Ordo Malleus on this is wasteful. Use it for something like assaulting a Daemonworld.

For this? Have our Chief Librarian do it.

If you don't actually trust them to produce pure gear? Then just refuse the gear! Seriously, just pick that choice. Don't try to be greedy.

This is why i dislike quests - the questers who have convinced themselves of their plans are now secure in their self-justifications, and so ignore warning words from subject matter experts when those words dont tell them what they want to hear.

When the questers are decently familiar with the quest and the source material themselves, and said 'experts' aren't exactly unified... that's when things get less open-shut.

@Swordomatic will this taint effect our battle bare being built? We've cleared it of taint before construction, but now that construction has started do we have to clear it again?
