[X][ZEUS] Reject the offer, and rebuild it with the Chapter Forge or elsewhere - taint could persist

[x][ZEUS] Accept their offer, and let them rebuild the wargear for the 4th Company. Accept their gratitude

We will not shame the sacrifice of the 4th by casting aspersions on their ability to cleanse the taint of chaos, nor will we sully the honor of Forgeworld Zeus by rejecting their gratitude.

so is that question about using the honourbound favor for 1,1k bp repair or the major we earned from them? Im confused about the vote , is it just a extra reward with a slight risk of tainted gear or uses favors ?My english is failing me and it doesnt seem to be uber clear.

It's free, and an attempt by the Forgeworld to recompense the Crimson Crusaders to have gone so far above and beyond the call of Duty.

I mean, 3 squads worth of Marines died to the heretics, and the remainder is in various states of wounded. This is a major loss, effectively speaking, for a Space Marine Chapter. Normally you don't see that kind of casualty numbers.

@Swordomatic , can we ask the Ordo Malleus to look over the wargear we get from from Zeus if we let them rebuild 4th Company's armoury?

It's worth a try, but getting them involved might get Zeus in other kinds of hot water. Though, that might be for the best.

We are going to be at our fleet limit of 3 Battlebarges, so spending the Honorbound Favor on that is a no-go.
That was kinda the joke. :) After all this time spent rebuilding the Iron Fang, clearly the best use of our resources is yet another Battle Barge.

If we want 1 Capital ship per company, we'll need 4 more (total 11). We're getting the Battle Barge, so we could go 3 BB, 4 Strike Cruisers, and 4 Vanguards.
Though we can't ignore Escorts either.
Warships:
Battle Barge:
1 Honorbound Favor, 100 Years
Strike Cruiser: 4 Major Favors, 20 Years
Vanguard Strike Cruiser: 2 Major Favors, 10 Years
4 Gladius-Class Escorts: 1 Major Favor, 5 Years
2 Nova-Class Escort: 1 Major Favors, 5 Years

Which of the favours we just got from Zeus would keep them from blaming the Crimson Crusaders for being overly paranoid assholes? Because I'm willing to take that trade, even if it's impossible to avoid.
I think it's less that they'd blame us, and more the Inquisition would be looking closely into their business, and it might affect their Trade deals?

I say go for it. We need those replacements, and our faith is strong. Whatever taint lingers we will more then overcome.

I'm kinda wary of this choice but not letting them rebuild our wargear will take up a significant amount of our forge capacity for the next turn. I'm going to assume that either way the 4th Company is probably going to be licking their wounds the next turn. I just hope that we don't blindly assume the wargear is fine and un-corrupted, we're probably going to have to do our own tests because even the possibility of a company falling to chaos would really fuck us over.

-[x] Ask the Order Malleus to look over the wargear, in secret of course. Chaos is quite skilled at subtle corruption ploys, as indicated by how they sought to subvert Forgeworld Zeus.

Eh, for me the BP doesn't even merit consideration. It would be shameful to reject the offer since it would (a) imply the 4th was unable to do their duty and (b) spit on the generosity of the forgeworld. If a fellow chapter offered us a gift of relics and we rejected it we could very well start a feud since we'd be implying that their stuff isn't good enough; rejecting gifts is serious business since they're often a matter of honor.

OTOH I have no problem getting the Ordo Mallues to give things a once over. For one, we have a history of being paranoid when it comes to the great enemy (and with good reason) and thus any perceived slight can be chalked up to Asterion gonna Asterion. Secondly, we might wind up owing the Ordo a favor. Like, oh noes, now we have to go punch demons in the face, what a shame :V

While I would doubt that cultists would be quite that stupid to try and give us tainted equipment right after exposure, they totally could be. Or even sacrificing a rival group to get inside us like that. Also, the existence of the cult and the long period of reconstruction means that there has been too much potential for chaotic tampering; best to be mildly paranoid

An Honorbound favor is something you sit on until you really need something done by whomever owed it NOW, and done with all their resources, or for them to do something they'd normally not, but the third option risks earning their ire depending on the details of why they won't normally do it.

An example would be someone calling in a Honorbound favor with a Blood Angels successor Chapter to participate in the upcoming Crusade as it currently stands they'd do it, but their doing what Dante pleaded them not to do.

As for the major favors allocate however many we need to finish the battlebarge, and spend the rest on forge upgrades.

Wasn't thinking of using the honorbound for it, but the major favors. Honorbound was included just for totaling up what we had on account.

I feel like it's sending mixed signals to the Forge World to accept their repair stuff, and at the same time call in the freaking Inquisition on them. Also, this will be hella insulting and humiliating to the Forge World if we do this. It'll probably sour some of their good will.

I feel like burning yet another favor from the Ordo Malleus on this is wasteful. Use it for something like assaulting a Daemonworld.

For this? Have our Chief Librarian do it.

If you don't actually trust them to produce pure gear? Then just refuse the gear! Seriously, just pick that choice. Don't try to be greedy.

Can we not just ground 4th company next turn and have the tech-priests and librarians spend 5 years examining their gear?

No need to involve the inquisition or offend allies trying to make reparation.

After such a loss giving the 4th time to train up their replacements cant hurt.
