Because the last time we went batshit insane we got evicted from the world without accomplishing anything of worth?

yeah but again... why would Flan obey the commands?... it is just stupid... can you see yukari yakumo obeying to TSAB if she is in Flan's position? And we already went insane... afterall that is one reason why we are in this mess in the first place!
We might as well leave this world and try again since we know presence of yellow voice.
This story is what I have NOT expected when I entered Madness Quest and especially in Touhou quest. Yes I understand that Flan is capable of some reason but I do NOT want to see Flandre obeying anyone ( unless they have demonstrated superior strength to her at some point like Marisa ). She just whimmped out and became TSAB's soldier... WHY? It is like Loki working for SHELDS in Marvel universe.... it just doesn't make sense!

[X] Stay and wait. You haven't been ordered to intervene, so you have to watch. How boring.

This is Madness Quest.

Not Slaughter everyone and Kidnap People you find interesting and break them to become your friend until you get killed Quest.

Madness definition:
a state of wild or chaotic activity.
So... where is it? o_O It is too... Logical here... where is chaos? hmmm? Will Flan plan to backstab TSAB and see it burn to ashes? I DO hope she is Obfuscating Stupidity because if not I'll say she has truly whimmped out and became "sane"
what I wanted was this:
an insane mastermind. NOT this:

You see this is where I say your being a dick.

Besides. In the last world. We did full madness/crazy.

And look what we got. Two Grief Seeds and a huge ass death count.

Let's see if doing opposite actually gets something.

Plus their are many different definitions of Madness.

Also. Flan being an Evil Crazed Mastermind? Are you high on Crack?

Besides I don't see you making any plans other than I don't want to be a soldier and I must kill everyone.

I'll say this I was quite keen on making friends and exploring this world before "yellow voice" incident and we got locked up. I would LOVE to explore this world and befriend anyone as an EQUAL or higher NOT as a lower. I just don't see being prideful as Flandre would accept it and abandon her pride. Being a soldier is just closer to being a maid and I don't see Flan being a maid willingly... I just want to show to TSAB that we are not their toy and act independently NOT under any orders.
In other words I want Flandre to act freely NOT caged by some military organisation. After all isn't that what caused this quest to start? What is the point if she is gonna trade one cage to another ( her bedroom to TSAB.)

...I see Flandre more like Captain Jack Sparrow than anything else. Weirdly crazy and potentially so insane she's sane. This isn't her swallowing her pride, this is her Advancing an agenda to get what she wants right out from under the noses of those busybodies.

I was going to keep quiet for the rest of this arc, but screw it, I'm weighing in my two cents.

You know Doctor Akemi, you fit the bill for insanity perfectly. You want to keep trying the same thing over and over again and expect different results. Where and when does it end? At what point do you think you'll be able to get away with blindly hacking your way to victory and succeed? Once you've cut your way to the top and flat out accomplished everything you've ever wanted what then? What sense is there in continuing?

You complain this quest isn't living up to the name "Madness Quest" , but you're clearly forgetting madness isn't all that fun for those afflicted with it. From a narrative standpoint I actually think EJ has executed recent events rather well.

Flan is feeling the pain that comes with a loose grip on reality. Flan can't understand why people see what she's done as wrong, but is feeling some legit consequences for acting out. For once shes got a goal she cant attain through brute force. Our efforts to plan are hindered by abrupt psychotic episodes we can't anticipate and whose outcome we have little control over. I think the quest is living up to its name now more than ever.

But for all I disagree with you, I will concede things feel a little dull from a game play standpoint right now. But I refuse to revert to all acting out like a petulant little brat when we're now finally back on a path to making actual progress. EJ knows how we feel, but feeling the consequences of our actions is just as big a part of role playing as reveling in our power is. Good things come to those who wait, and so I'll happily bide my time until we get the payoff our labors will bring us.

If you can't or don't want to accept that then I advise you to either find a quest that does satisfy you or quite frankly shut up and respect your fellow questers when you're overruled. You're only getting on people's nerves and making the wait more painful for those who care about this arrangement.

on the hindsight I admit I acted like jackass. I'm sorry to other players. I appologise that I acted that way. I'll shut up now and wait and see how it goes.

[x] Sneak out and follow them. Maybe they'll be able to get away from Nanoha, but you're much sneakier! And since you'll be making them surrender, it'll even be alright with everyone else!

Sister of the Scarlet Devil vs Knight of the Iron Hammer
Canon, of course.

"Are you sure this is a good idea?"

"Well, she does seem to like Vita, so I'm sure she'll hold back. And I'll be out there with them, so if she does try anything, it'll be two on one," Nanoha said as she looked down the road, watching for the coming headlights in the twilight. Beside her, Fate sighed in exasperation.

"Nanoha, that's not what I meant," she said. "This whole ... shutting down of everything. Even if Flandre doesn't notice that no one's around when they should be, whoever is bringing her will, and if she finds out, she could cause problems." Nanoha smiled at her.

"Oh, she might - or she might think about how nice it is of us to have cleared out all the distractions so she could have a pleasant time. Or she might even expect it. And maybe bringing more people might make her impulsiveness stand out, and she'll try to attack someone when she gets excited. Or she might just not care, so long as she gets to have her fun." She shrugged. "We don't know enough about her, really, and probably never will."

"Yeah." Fate frowned. "Not until her sister decides to finally come rescue her, anyway." The headlights of an approaching car flashed in the distance, and Nanoha sighed.

"Well, I guess it's time. Remember - don't put up any defenses unless she decides to enter the building."

"I know, Nanoha ... take care of yourself."

"Of course I will, Fate. You can count on me!" She waved her friend into the building, then turned to face the car. "Vita, are you ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be. Let's get this over with," the reply came, and Nanoha chuckled at the mental tone.

Before the car finished moving, a childish figure dressed in brown hopped out, hovering in the air as she looked around. After a moment, she drifted over to Nanoha and rose to meet her face to face, red eyes glittering. "Hey, where's Vita?"

"She's waiting at the Simula-" She sighed and walked over to the car as Flandre took off through the air toward the waiting Vita. "How are you doing, Lieutenant Tarbin? Is she getting along with everyone?" The young woman took a deep breath before replying.

"Not particularly, no - she's arrogant and terrifying. But we tolerate her, because the Major believes it's for the best." Her voice trembled just a bit, and she never looked up from the ground. "But she does usually follow instructions ... and makes sure to tell us when she isn't going to. So she'll wait until we get there." She waited until Nanoha finally nodded and walked toward the Simulator.

"Alright, you two," Nanoha said as they reached the diminutive knight and vampire, who both turned to look at her. "The rules are simple; no time limit, nothing lethal, keep your attacks within the simulated area, and the match ends when one side is in a dominant position. Any questions?" Two heads shook in unison, and the magically-created city sprang into existence behind them. "Then get to your positions." Vita nodded and took off for the northern part of the city after her Barrier Jacket formed around her. Flandre simply giggled and flew toward the southern end. Nanoha frowned and glanced at the Lieutenant. "She doesn't have a Device yet?"

"She got one yesterday; I understand it shattered after maintaining a Barrier Jacket for less than a minute. She came back ... very, very upset." Nanoha nodded and waited for the two combatants to reach their places.

"Ready, and ... start!"

"Start!" Vita flew forward and drifted left, keeping the vampire in sight the whole time. Not a difficult task, because she wasn't making any attempt at evading or rushing forward to get into attack range. Vita snorted - that was fine with her. She could see that the vampire wasn't wearing a Barrier Jacket, though she did have that twisted wand out ... not that that would matter. Even with the Limiters active, she had taken a Cartridge-enhanced Raketenhammer, and if it had crushed her rib cage, she was fine minutes later. Vita knew what to expect. She swept her arm in front of her three times, and a dozen orbs flared into existence as Graf Eisen burned a cartridge.

"Schwalbefliegen!" She swung the hammer, then rushed after the hurtling projectiles. If she could just distract her long enough to get that weapon away from her .... She froze, staring, then shook herself and flew upward, trying to open the range.

Flandre hadn't tried to dodge any of the projectiles - instead, she'd simply tilted her head, smiled, and used Laevateinn to bat away three of the four that could actually hit her. The fourth she caught in her teeth, head snapping back, then spat it out and grinned madly. Her eyes flared as she hurled herself upward at the red-clad knight. She spiraled through the darkening sky in pursuit, her attacks barely deflected by a summoned shield or the flashing hammer.

Suddenly, Vita spun and dove, attempting to outspeed the giggling vampire and lose her in the twisting and fallen buildings. She realized her mistake almost immediately as red bullets began falling around her, splashing off her defenses. Individually, the shots were nowhere near as powerful as they would need to be to overwhelm her; even by the dozen they could be managed. These shots were coming thicker than that, unaimed and unguided, simply flung in a cone toward the target - and worse than the damage being done was the fact that Vita was rapidly losing track of where she was in the scarlet storm. She saw a flash to her right - a window - and hurled herself sideways, crashing through the glass and rolling to her feet, spinning to face the windows.

The storm of bullets ended as Flandre rolled over above the building Vita had taken shelter in and powered through the roof to reach her - and the floor below it, and the next two floors. She giggled at how close she'd come - sixty centimeters behind Vita, a floor above - and threw herself through the windows when she heard the crash of glass above her. Her wand came forward, skewering Vita's shield with ease, and her free hand caught the descending hammer by the head. She grinned at Vita, then threw the hammer back, staggering the knight. She lunged forward barehanded and caught Vita in a hug, swinging her around like a doll.

"Well, I think that qualifies as a win for Flandre," Nanoha said, startling the vampire into letting go as a communication screen appeared near them. Recovering quickly, she giggled happily.

"Of course! Hey, can we have another match? That was fun, but I wanna play some more," she said. The screen split as Lieutenant Tarbin joined the conversation.

"I'm afraid that is impossible; the Major only approved on match," she said, and Flandre's grin turned to a scowl. She locked her gaze on the Lieutenant for a moment, eyes shining.

"... Fine, then I'm going to fly back," she said as the Lieutenant shook her head.

"Also impossible, and you know the reasons why," she said. Flandre's glare grew even more vicious, a growl rose in the back of her throat, and her left hand began twitching convulsively, as though she were trying to squeeze something. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, her demeanor changed.

"Okay, I'll be right there!" She grinned and giggled, then caught Vita in another hug. "Hehe, you have to get better, Vita - and the next time we play, don't hold back, okay? We can have more fun that way!"

It seems like our "superiors" have (begrudgingly) tolerated some insubordination in the past.
Some of it is that Major Marino knows what's actually important to make Flan obey and what he can let slide in order to keep her happy (like the 'no killing' order); some of it's that he doesn't really believe Vampires won't break contracts on a whim.

@veekie Is the 'leave a message' clause of the "Grab someone and tell them you're going out" variety or the "Write it down and let them find it" variety?

Considering our lack of aptitude with binding spells and our control issues, our main way of holding people is sheer intimidation. If that doesn't work... I guess the question is whether or not we want Riot Force 6 to possibly handle extracting our prisoner because they got radioed with the notification we're heading out, or if we want to attempt being subtle or Malfean Subtle. I'm leaning towards telling somebody. Seems like what Alucard would do.

Edit: Leaving a note could lead to slippery slope paranoia on the part of the bureau if it's missed, it could also signify she's understanding the concept of military lifestyle, at least mildly. *Rambles*

If theres someone easily accessible at the moment, tell them, if not, just scribble something as we go.

Honestly, when EJ brought up the Church back in PMMM, I thought he was building up for an encounter with this guy:

Honestly a battle with magical girls vs touhou vs hellsing would be Spiral Nemesis level Awesome.

Unfortunately, I'm only well-versed enough with Hellsing (Abridged or regular) to make references, not enough to actually go there or use its characters.

You stare at the screen, the same as everyone else, but while they're staring in shock at the murder that just took place, you're busy wondering how you can get there. You can't just leave, that would be breaking your deal! And asking to help with the battle itself won't go over well, you suspect - especially since it's now clear that Nanoha managed to interpose herself and block the shot. You spin and head toward the door. They won't know; Vita never saw the attack, and they probably don't think you remember it very well, either. But if you try to tell them, it'll take too long, and they'll get away - they wouldn't be making a move like that unless they were certain of what would happen. You nearly walk into Lieutenant Tarbin as you leave the room, and she drops some things, pills, on the floor. You dart forward and grab her arm.

"Hey, there's something I need to do, and I just realized it, and I need to take care of it now, or I won't get another chance!" You shake her, gently, and give her a pleading look. She scowls back.

"Look, if you want to help them out, you need to go through Maj-" You cut her off by the simple expedient of shaking her harder. She starts trembling and screws her eyes shut.

"No, no! It's not that, they're fine - but someone attacked me right after I came here, and I just figured out that I might be able to get back at them for it, but if I don't leave now I won't get another chance as good as this one, so please, can I go?" She twitches and shoves you back.

"Fine! Fine, fine, fine! Go on, do whatever you want, just get out of here and leave me alone!" You smile and clap your hands as you dart past her, leaving her to pick up whatever it was she dropped. You have permission to go and take care of your business - and you didn't even have to tell any lies, you only told the truth! You wince as you step into the sunlight, and frown as you fly up high enough to make straight-line movement easier. True, you had to tell a truth closer to what Remilia would do - you didn't lie, after all, but you only told enough of the truth to make them think it was unrelated. That's much to close to what your sister does when she wants something than you're really comfortable with. But it got you out, so it doesn't matter!

You rocket through the city, one hand clasped over your wrist to protect the tracking device. You aren't supposed to go anywhere without it, after all, so making sure it doesn't get lost is vitally important. Then you cut off your power and tumble to the surface, crashing through a window and skidding along the floor. Shaking the impact off, you hurry to the glass and look up - someone is working with an enormous amount of power, and you would prefer to not simply walk into it. You hesitate, then hide yourself with invisibility; it's going to drain you fairly quickly, especially if you stay too long in direct sunlight, but you need to see what's going on. A huge burst of energy swallows up part of the city a fair way from your position, and you hurry toward it, scowling. You can only go so fast without dropping your invisibility ....

Two figures - brown-haired humans wearing blue outfits - fly out of the energy burst, only to be bracketed by Fate and Nanoha. A pair of Sparks fly out, one yellow and one pink, and collide on the position of the two humans ... or where they were, since a third one, moving so quickly even you had trouble following them, managed to carry them out of harm's way. You keep track of them, though, and follow them to an area well away from the mages. They stop, and while you're too far to hear them, you can see them well enough - three females, one of the brown-haired girls has glasses but the other doesn't, and the savior has purple hair. She seems to be in charge, too. You scratch your arms; too much energy expended too quickly, and in daylight, is making you uncomfortable.

You leap up, startled, as three more individuals pop up from the ground - a girl with light blue hair, a red-haired fairy, and a girl who looks just enough like Patchouli that you almost call out to her. They keep talking for a moment, and then the little girl begins using some kind of magic, and a purple triangle appears below them.

What do you do?

[ ] Let them go; you're tired and irritated, and if they could get away from the others, they're probably strong enough to fight you.
- [ ] Tell Major Marino why you left when you get back.
- [ ] Don't tell the Major.

[ ] Attack them; maybe you can keep them off-balance enough that they won't be able to do whatever they were trying to do before someone else gets here.
- Is there a point at which you want to retreat, or do you keep fighting until you collapse?
- Strategy?

[ ] Try to take someone captive; you have questions you want answered, and after that you can let Vita have her!
- [ ] The fairy.
- [ ] The purple-haired mage.
- [ ] The blue-haired girl.
- [ ] The girl with the glasses.
- [ ] The brown-haired girl without glasses.
- [ ] The mage and the fairy.
- [ ] The leader.

DM Note: Choosing to Attack is defaulting to non-lethal attacks, so if you want to try and kill them, please specify that. A strategy write-in is not allowed, but the default action is basically to make a fuss and a lot of noise, to keep them there until someone arrives to see what's going on. Trying to take someone captive is basically a snatch-and-grab, and the choices are in descending order of difficulty according to Flan's opinion. So snatching the fairy or the mage would be the two easiest, because they're the smallest and (presumably) the weakest - but taking both would be harder because keeping both of them under control and unhurt, against possible pursuit, would be very difficult.
