Doctor - Oh dont worry about that. She just needs to munch on something. Happens more often than you would think. She will be right as rain in about a week or so.
Donna - But shes just a girl?
Doctor - She is far more than that. FAR more. Ever heard of the Phoenix?
Donna - You mean the mythical immortal bird?
Doctor - It's not a Myth. Shes it.
Donna - But she looks...
Doctor - Human? *Points to himself* So do I. She is human but connected to something far more elemental. A being of pure life energy that keeps the Cosmos ticking. Last time I met her, she punched me in the face... I hope she's gotten over that.
Donna - So your telling me, she turns into a giant flaming bird?
Doctor - Well not entirely turns into one... more like manifests it. But yeah. Not something to piss off lightly.
Donna - So what do we do?
Doctor - Well, we find a way out of here, get her to hospital, then try and continue on where we were going. I'll pop in later and check up on her, make sure she gets on her feet alright.
Donna - Well Ok.

As an alternate theory to "Coil is dead" and "Coil was erased from history"...

Taylor cured Noelle of her powers, what not cure Thomas Calvert too?

Of course, Noelle was thankful for being stripped of her abilities. Thomas Calvert used his own power to satisfy his paranoia and need for success. Now he's just a poor little flatscan again. Now whatever he does... that's it. He gets one go. No more take backs. No more indulging his whims. Worse, he's vulnerable. He has to make choices now: between working harder or having dinner, between whether to trust [Mr. X] with his safety or [Mr. Y]. Hell, he could go out for a quart of milk and get by a car and there's nothing he could do about it!

That sort of paranoia might make a person lock themselves in a fallout shelter and never go back out.

It'll slow down to something like I was doing before. Part of 3.4 was really not complying, but once it broke through, then 3.5 and 3.6 went to paper rapid-fire while I was waiting on beta. 3.7's underway now at about...1100 words at the moment and expanding.

Not explicit but you never did have her give the police her name, and have them make the expected call to her father.

I think your fine if you change a couple lines, but it looks like a draft where Dauntless shows up with the cops, and one where he shows up after they are leaving got mixed.

By the way, awesome chapters!

I went back and this is the incriminating sentence. If you pulled Dauntless out of it and just had the cops come in then broke the scene up a bit with them leaving to file the statement, maybe with a, "No thank you officers, I've already contacted my family." lie, as the hospital staff aren't there, and bridge to Dauntless coming in after the nurses fuss with giving her a meal or something. (and altering the line later where she's hungry) the rest works as written.

Edit: That would give enough time, an hour or so, for the report to be filed, the PRT to find out, and someone to send Dauntless who is already still on site to visit.
 
The hospital has their own reporting system. That was what was submitted and with possible parahuman incident plus the name Taylor, it tripped flags in the PRT database, which is why Dauntless was accompanying them.

True fact! ;)
When it comes to minors, hospitals have to file buckets of reports, internally, to each other, to the cops, and to CPS, depending on age/severity of injury. I can readily imagine the PRT going on the list somehow.

At one point, I used to handle records for a pediatric X-ray doctor at a major state hospital. Didn't comprehend a lot of it, because I didn't have a terribly involved medical background, but every so often it was one of those things where you go, "oh, wait, this means.... daaammmnnnn these parents do not love this kid."

The doc regularly wound up filing reports with the authorities, suffice to say. Not, like, every day or anything. But, regularly.

In a case like this? Where it's pretty clear she was captured, drugged, and has no memories? Oh yeah would they ever be reporting that shit. If they figure the drug collar was tinkertech, a PRT report is kind of a gimme.
 
I guess I just figured that the report would have come once the cops were involved. Not a pre-cop admittance version report. My misunderstanding.

It was her going Phoenix. Contessa wouldn't be able to do anything at all when Taylor is in full blown Phoenix mode. She probably would have died if she tried anything.

Plus the drugs and shit having side effects and crap.

Hmmm... so timeline is, bomb goes off, she gets kidnapped, they keep her drugged and sedated as long as possible while doing tests, and then the Phoenix finally wakes up and says 'eff this'?
 
How in the world did my Alert not tell me of this? Three updates in a row? Praise the Sun!

Aaaand now more ideas decide to pop into my head just because of that bit with the Doctor being mentioned. If only my muse wasn't that bone dead lazy...

Still, its refreshing to see a Trickster that's not as complete prick compared to what the fanon says. But by any chance his lifespan along with Noelle will be drastically improved compared to their Acceleration! counterpart?
