Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

Unless I'm remembering wrong, she repaired some of that with her 'straight shooter' approach.

Nope. She didn't.

She made it worse by implying that Sophia might be offered a place in the wards, even after trying to murder her. Even if she didn't mean too.

"That still doesn't explain why I'm having to go over all of this again," Taylor pressed. "There isn't anything I can tell you that I didn't already tell the police, or that you didn't see. This is a waste of time."

"Given that Ms. Hess was revealed as a parahuman, we do have to perform our own inquiry separate from the police," Miss Militia said. "I understand your frustration, Ms. Hebert, but cooperating will have you on your way quickest."

"I don't see what her being a parahuman has to do with anything," Taylor countered. "No one but her knew that until about three hours ago. What, was she a Ward and you're just trying to cover yourselves so you don't look bad?"

"I'm not privy to what the Director might intend for Ms. Hess, however she was not a member of the Wards, no." Miss Militia said. Colin almost winced at her choice of wording as Taylor's eyes narrowed.

"Implying that she might become one, or will be offered membership," Taylor said frostily. "This fills me with all sorts of confidence in the Protectorate and the Wards program. If I ever got powers, I think I'd just say no."

And then she kept on pushing Taylor to confess that she was a parahuman. When Taylor clearly stated her opinions on the matter.

Miss Militia leaned forward slightly. "Ms. Hebert, after the incident last month and what happened today, there is some concern that you might have… well, developed parahuman abilities."

Taylor stared at her. "And? You did your tests and they said I wasn't. Am I supposed to have the power to make people think I'm not a parahuman? That seems kind of worthless, if so."

She slid a card across the table. "If there is anything you do want to talk about, call this number. I can understand what it's like to suddenly be different and would be happy to answer your questions."

"Are you even listening?" Taylor groaned. "I don't want or need your card. Give it to someone who actually needs help. Hess, maybe. But unless you have a parahuman whose power is to give the best therapy ever, I don't think there is much that will help her."

So all, and all. Miss Militia got on Taylor's bad list by herself.

And she was supposed to be the one that was good with social interaction too.

Taylor needs to get stronger. Not for the obvious reasons though. Monkey typists go!

Vicky: *mock seriousness* "You're broken. Absolutely broken."
Taylor: *Lisa levels of smug* "Oh, I know."
Vicky: *struggling not to laugh* "And modest. God, I can only imagine how pissed Armsmaster's going to be about this."
Taylor: "Hey, it's a free country. Last I checked this is public 'land' as held by the city, of which I am a citizen, and we're well below flight altitude so I don't need a permit or permission."
Vicky: "You're stretched out on a telekinetically crafted recliner, sitting above the Protectorate base-"
Aegis: *just showing up because he's the only local PRT cape who can fly* "Ladies. Sirin, I've been sent to ask what you're doing."
Taylor: "Want a marshmallow?"
Aegis: "Uh-"
Taylor: "Well, I want to be left alone, so it looks like you're all out of luck." *slowly pushes Aegis back down to the floating Protectorate base*
Vicky: "You're sitting out here eating marshmallows above the hero's base? They're going to cause all sorts of trouble over this."
Taylor: *lights a marshmallow on fire* "No, I'm sitting out here roasting marshmallows above the 'hero's' base. And they can't reach me. Want one?"
*helicopter flies up, Taylor stops the blades and slowly lowers it back down to sit beside the other one*
Taylor: "Really not sure what they were thinking there..."
Vicky: "Eh, why not. Wave up another chair for me?"
Taylor: "Sure."
Vicky: *munching on marshmallow* "These aren't bad. Where'd you get them?"
Taylor: *points down*
Vicky: *stops laughing after a while* "Hey, can I call up the rest of New Wave, or at least the other teens? Mum's going to hate this, it'll be awesome!"
Taylor: "Yeah, it's no problem." *waves a hand around at the open air* "As you can see, there's plenty of seating.*
Vicky: "I'll tell them to bring more marshmallows, wouldn't want to run out."
Taylor *floating multiple extra bags up from the Protectorate base* "Oh, I don't think that'll be a problem."
Vicky: "Isn't that stealing?"
Taylor: "Hey, I'm not the one that keeps insisting I'm a Ward. They can't have it both ways!"
I hereby dub this (for me at least) canon for this fic! Marshmallow!Phoenix ftw.

Just cause she's apologetic and earnest doesn't mean Taylor is just gonna forgive her...

She still an angsty teenager.

And MM is the one avoiding her atm

And there is also such a thing as being oversensitive.

And there's such a thing as being insensitive, as you are handily proving.

True. Teasing is making a joke about something your friend isn't very sensitive about, being mean is making a "joke" you know the victim will find very insulting and then act surprised they "can't take a joke".

Guys, lay off of @VolantRedX. He's a self-admitted alcoholic and recovering bully. The fact that he's utterly incapable of recognizing when someone is being mean is only to be expected.

"This isn't something you want to do Siren."

"And when have you -- any of you -- ever paid even the slightest bit of attention to what I want to do?"

In 1.8 sure. But in 2.6 she states that she wants things to get better for both Taylor and the prt, and Taylor's empathy pings that as a truth, at least at the time

Doesn't mean Taylor would automatically think Miss Militia is a good person or what not. She made a bad first impression on Taylor, and those can stick with you for a long time.

Plus that didn't necessary repair anything.

That just got Taylor to calm down a bit and go see the director.

Then the Director tried to manipulate her to her own ends, but was honest about it.

I also could write a list of all the crimes the PRT has been guilty of concerning Taylor in this story.

But I wont.

Never said Taylor would forgive her and everything would be sunshine and roses, was merely pointing out that MM had tried to salvage things a bit in response to her own initial bungling.

Bad personal impression aside, she's still a hero, Taylor's not disillusioned with the concept of heroism. It's the lying/bureaucratic manipulation she's taken umbrage with, which has led to a tainting of the bb protectorate by association

Actually I think she has be getting disillusion with Protectorate hero's because they fucked up. Also with the bureaucratic shit.

But is is not only that.

So far, the Protectorate leader pissed her off. Miss Militia pissed her offer and now most of the Protectorate are starting to annoy her because of their orders to poke her every time they could.

Same with the Wards.

The only ones she can stand are rare in that regard. The ones that don't see it as a pain or something.

What I am trying to say is, the PRT and Protectorate are both at faults, and their mistakes are combining and making everything worse.

Please not be that atrocity from Frozen (which was an atrocity itself). I despise that solidified chunk of arctic diarrhea.

Too late the random musical has already began, curse the Fel Beast knows as Disney Music.

But it's okay, cause the songs never bothered me anyway.
