Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

I snorted at that thought and ducked into the bathroom to change. Eventually, whoever was paying might notice that the utility bill was higher than it should be, but for the moment, it worked.

Considering his tendency to buy up land, Coil could be the one footing the bill. It would be just like him to purchase a building which, with a little work, could serve as a secret Parahuman base.

One it's not rubbing anyone's anywhere, it's pointing out that Vista is too young to consider herself a woman. Two it's good to bring people back to Earth if their egos are getting to big. Vista is 12, and we know she likes to ignore that fact and act adult, reminding her that she is in fact still only a kid is better than acting like she isn't.
"Woman's intuition" is an idiom, and in use is similar to how "an old wives' tale" might be told by someone who is neither old nor a wife.

If Vista said, "All men are created equal," do you think it would be appropriate to point out that she's not even male? I mean, it's true. She's not. So, would it be a clever thing to remind her that she is in fact not male?

Untrue. Among all the BB Wards seen in Worm, Vista was a Ward for the longest amount of time.
I know that this is true after Leviathan, but I can't remember if it's true before.

It took a bit of searching when my beta and I first discussed it, but from the sparse cues in canon... Vista had seniority over any of the others in terms of time spent. She'd been a member for two years when the story opens. Kid Win was the next closest, if memory serves me.

There's a difference between teasing and being mean.
True. Teasing is making a joke about something your friend isn't very sensitive about, being mean is making a "joke" you know the victim will find very insulting and then act surprised they "can't take a joke".

Vista just got insulted because she can't stand people pointing out that she is in fact only 12.
Not really, she got insulted because she was told she's a little kid in a very rude fashion - something most children age 3 and up will get offended by.

Ah, beautiful miscommunication. Have none of the Wards thought to ask why Sirin is in a snit? Probably doesn't feel it's any of their business.

Or, if they're worried about being yelled at, they can ask Gallant to ask Glory Girl to ask Sirin if Glory Girl can brief them on the stuff that Director Piggott already knows but isn't telling them.

Did I get that sequence of Chinese whispers straight? I think I got it straight.

Rest in peace, Empire Eighty Eight. We hardly knew ye... hopefully people will learn not to mess with Sirin after this. Who am I kidding? This is Worm. Someone ALWAYS messes with Taylor, regardless of how bad an idea it is.

Dammit Kaiser...the one time a Pheonix host is being reasonable...and you gonna ruin that.
To be fair he seems to be messing with Lung and not particularly concerned with her unles I read something really wrong there. Also to be fair she's pretty much inevitably going to get dragged in on it on some level so yeah. Wait was Kaiser thinking she was an ABB cape?

and it's not as if they're exactly wrong either. They really aren't obligated to go to the maximum to know the backstory of some random girl that's a tad rude to them (some of them?). Yet they're still getting ordered to go poke her and she's still reacting as a person who got poked that incessantly naturally would. Kind of a bad situation for both involved parties.

Vista has CB and Kid Win beat. Aegis and Gallant have triggered and joined before her.

Taylor never once said anything to the effect of "I don't care what your procedures say. I am not a Ward." within earshot of the Wards, something that would get them curious about why she believes that? That doesn't make much sense.

They definitely are curious and have a vague idea of the unwillingly signed up bit but higher ups are closed lipped and they so far haven't been given sufficient impetus to really dig.

That was part of what we referenced. Near as we could tell, after Triumph left, she was the one with the most seniority, since we don't have times on Aegis, CB and Gallant.
She has only nine months on KW, now it's not impossible that everyone on the team has less than that, but WoG is that Wards don't just pass leadership to the next oldest in line. Things like experience and temperament come into play. If she had everyone beat by months then she'd likely be in a position of leadership.

...oh cool red x is being an ass for the sake of being an ass again.....what according to him this isn't mean its just the Truth

...unless she was being overlooked because of her age*. Which was what we were conjecturing in the first place.

Note: We (or at least I) are not saying that your Worm headcanon is wrong, just that other internally-valid Worm headcanon exists. If @chibipoe is using this alternative headcanon then Vista's reaction was perfectly understandable.

* Or because of something fuzzily-defined like "maturity" that she perceived as being a fig-leaf for ageism.

I thought that WoG was they explicitly did do that and it's the Protectorate that uses the more detailed method.

Well they know she had some kind of problem with recruitment, left home, and Armsmaster and Miss Militia stay out of her way. They also didn't really think those were issues. The problem here is that they're all Wards. They like it, and can't understand why someone wouldn't. So she just comes off as unreasonable.

Also, Vista needs to harden the fuck up. If you don't want to be treated like a child, try not storming out like Raising Helen. Dealing with idiot jokes is part of being an adult.

No, it was pointed out that Sophia no matter her age would never be Wards leader, because the leader position isn't about age it's about placing someone in a position where people look to them for direction. If they can't handle it then they won't be considered for leadership positions later, and if someone lacks the temperament in the first place then they won't be tapped.

It's not about age or seniority. But giving a Ward a leadership role for a time is Armsmaster's own approach, and failing anything else, a Ward with experience & age is going to get their turn, even if it's a short one. Gives the PRT leadership of Brockton Bay (Armsmaster, MM, Piggot) a chance to assess their skills.

Citation please. Especially as being only a member of the Wards due to her plea bargan could also very well be the reason why she would not be given leadership. It is highly likely that any probationary member can not be a wards team leader.

Ask Sirin herself? Maybe not. But they do know that Piggot is keeping them in the dark, and are wondering why.

Fun fact: storming out in a huff is something a lot of adults do. If you just think it's Vista's problem, then why did everybody hit him?
