Firebird, a Worm AU/Xover?

No Ward is ever order to fight the likes of Hookwolf. They may engage him when they have no other choice but it's pretty clear that they fight the likes of Boneyard most often while the Protectorate fight the real issues. If anything that seems to be a problem for Taylor. If she thought she could take Hookwolf she would want to, and if ordered not to by Armsmaster she'd be beyond pissed.

If you want we can have the discussion about Vista, Hookwolf and what was the likeliest reason she got wounded by him again but I don't know if the others would appreciate it. Also, I don't think there is enough evidence to form anything more than an opinion and neither of us are eloquont enough to sway the other.

Officially the Wards are not to engage in any criminal activity beyond petty crime.

The Brockton Bay and similar situations force the PRT/Protectorate to mobilize them due to the numbers game.

So to get away the Danny debate, if Taylor ran away where do you think she went? I put money on her going to New Wave. She may not like the idea of joining them, but they're the only major player in town that she can sign on with to off-set her being forced into the Wards.

If she uses precog or thinks about things? A cheap, no questions asked hotel from where she calls Glory Girl. (She knows Armsmaster spied on her and knows about her friends, she won't risk them.)

Catherine and Minako. She was already heading over to see how she's doing and she knows that Cathy? Dad is totally willing to lie through his teeth to help a capes kid dodge even non abusive parents. Which is really really skeevy.
See the issue is that is at best a temporary solution. Sooner or later she's going to need to face her dad, and running away like that is only going to make him push harder for the Wards. New Wave however has the pull to keep her away from that situation. With their help she could even get legally emancipated from Danny and not have to worry about the PRT using his parental rights against her.

Ya know if they'd go that far over this instead of trying to not help them shatter their family into little twigs.

I'd guess she'd go to Cathy and Minako first because she knows them better as a whole group and they might encourage her to try talking to New Wave for the reasons Volantredx mentioned.

Taylor - ... Who did this?
Minako - Taylor, dont get mad...
Taylor - *Get's mad* Who. Did. This?
Minako - Squealer...
Taylor - *Incandescent with rage* Really...

- Slums -

Squealer - *Shivers uncontrollably for a second* Woah baby... this is some good shit!
Taylor - *Crashes through the ceiling* Hi guys... *Twitch Twitch*
Skidmark - What the fuck bitch? You wanna go mate? You think your hard enough to take Skidmark on mate? URK! *Floats off the holding his neck*
Squealer - Baby! *Glares at Taylor* You bitch! *Pulls a gun*
Taylor - I'm busy. Go play in the corner while the adult's are talking. *Telekinetically shoves Squealer in the corner, then pulls Skidmark close to her*
Skidmark - *Struggles ineffectually to breathe through the choking grip*
Taylor - Do you know what Nemesis means? A righteous infliction of retribution, manifested by an appropriate agent. Personified in this case by a pissed off bitch, me.

You're being too harsh on Danny. Was it stupid? Yes, but it's an understandable stupid, and makes sense from his PoV. He even said in his narration that she didn't elaborate on the issues she brought up, and she did go out to fight crime without telling him. He also hasn't had the system fuck him over like Taylor, so he still has a lot of faith in it.

He also said that she would get a week, so Danny doing what he did is just reaffirming Taylor's lack of trust/faith in authority figures.

Fighting style maybe, but I doubt they'll veto things unless the ideas are themselves dangerous or excessive, but who gives a shit about the costume? That's like the most petty thing she could get caught up on. As long as she's not out there in the nude why would her costume matter at all?

OK, that's still very petty.

She put quite a bit of work into her costume, for some comity to just go nope and give her a new costume without her input, in particular one that she doesn't like (say something skimpy, which is likly (remember Vista's costume wasn't her choice nor had much/any input from her)) would be horrible.

Sorry if this stuff has been said but I'm on page 111 when posting this.

Deadpool. Is it Deadpool?

The single most likly marvel charecter to show up in worm, fun for all.

PRT/Danny Conversation:
"And you're sure about this?"

"Yes, I just want my daughter to be safe."

"Okay, I get that, but is she actually going to work with us? Because we've had a few situations like this before and a lot of the time it didn't end out so well."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, if people ask you didn't hear it from me, but a good chunk of the kids singed up against their will end up in juvie. Some are just insubordinate, not going on scheduled patrols or events and instead going on the beat whenever they please. It gets worse when they don't listen to the field leader because they hate them. Others runaway or outright go villain, one kid ran away from the New York Wards and set up shop in the upstate. He injured two Protectorate Members before they took the gloves off, from what I head it wasn't pretty. Sure some of them come around but not all of them. Frankly they hate our's and their parent's guts.

I can't even begin to tell you about what some of these kids do once they turn 18 as they give us the middle finger and walk out. To be completely honest its a headache they we REALLY don't like dealing with and try to avoid. So I'd like to ask again, you're sure your daughter is okay with this? We are honestly fine with her being affiliated until she's ready."

"... No... No Its better this way. Even if she hates my guts and yours I'll at least know she's safe for a few years."

".... Well, okay then." The man said inwardly sighing as the Director's plan failed.

And considering Taylor's projected power level, they would probably have to call in the triumvirate before they could coral her and even that may not work.

That was before she went out again without telling him. Who has broken whose trust here?

He openly acknowledges he never actually asked her not to go out again. So, I'd say the one who broke the trust is the one who broke his word and did what he said he wouldn't do, not the one who did something she never agreed or was even asked not to do.

The Protectorate and PRT's willingness in general to shanghai a clearly unwilling kid in just as fast as they can persuade the ... no, I can't even call Danny a parent any more ... guardian to sell them off, so the kid basically has the options of utter surrender or going villain, is just a total headthumper here. Then I remember that both organizations, and the PRT in particular which holds responsibility for the Wards team in BB, is built to fail, and it all makes sense again.

I will say that this is a much more inventive way of getting Ally of Justice hero-or-die early Taylor to side with some villains, or at least be completely disconnected from the officially sponsored heroes, than retreading the Lung fight (verbatim or with with the serial numbers filed off) from canon.

Still Danny breaking Taylor's 0o.

He doesn't get any sympathy from me, especially in stories such as this where he only cares after she gets powers.

Sure Taylor really fails to communicate her problems, but still...18 months without realizing her best friend, almost sister, wasn't a friend anymore.

Oh Hey my 15 year old little girl wants to go running around seedy areas at time during highest drug trafficking.

"Oh I know I'll give her Pepper spray! What could possibly go wrong" (yes I know the Chekhov here...)

So 18 months of negligence, only to have a complete about face when she get's outed as a cape.

Then he goes and ignore all her protests and signs her up for a program designed to put Children in danger in order to facilitate their growth as heroes....

Danny.

Kind of sad that Taylor seemed to be two or three days worth of research away from figuring out a decent reason to not join the (local) Wards, considering she knew there was some sort of discrepancy between what the forms said and what the local Wards kids end up doing.

Nice lack of patience there, Danny. Your child is now a criminal, I'm sure that's what you were going for.
