[X] … beginning to learn White magic. You remember Ardan saving the life of that man who'd been hurt during the fight with the bandits who'd kidnapped her. You want to be able to do that too. (Focus on learning the Heal spell)

Agreed that all the various magic options sound intriguing. I want to learn them all. Basic healing is just universally useful though, whether it's healing ourselves (I assume that unlike most applications in the games we can self-heal), in-combat, or in-story it's just a good thing to have. Dark would probably be my next choice for many of the reasons I was drawn to taking the Dark Tablet back near the beginning. But really I want them all, time to become an archmage.

Leaning towards exploring or finding one of our friends still, but exploring is more of the mystery box and who doesn't love mystery boxes?

[X] … beginning to learn Black magic. The idea of being able to fight without really hurting people sounds nice; and maybe one day you'll be able to figure out what Trinicus had meant. (Focus on learning the Flux spell)

[X] Find Artemis. See how her conversation with Countess Mantrae went.

[X] … continuing your education in Yellow magic. You think you've pushed your lightning powers as far as you can for now, but the scroll spoke of other powers, such as the ability to resist hostile magic. If humans have started picking up magic, that might be a good thing to learn. (Focus on learning the Barrier spell)

White is a good choice, but we are still a kid. Focus on what we know to learn how to learn by ourself so that we can get the other magics easier

Should we be concerned that the Countess is going to want a conversation with us to figure our what we're hiding?

[X] … beginning to learn Red magic. While it sounds kind of scary, getting a better handle on your emotions might not be bad, if the world keeps throwing nasty surprises at you. (Focus on learning the Fire spell)

Honestly I like the magic system here. It has basic elements as the spells but includes the concepts or ideas surrounding them into spells as well. Red being the color of passion normally but extends to inspiring or taking away bravery, fear, anger, and such. It makes learning the path of Red Magic far more then just 'oh choose fire for DPS'. each path offers more then just the basics of an elemental system.

Also Ryza is adorable in her reactions and appearance. I imagine with how the dress is described and taking into account the difficulty a pre-industrial without magic to supplant it, the amount of work and detail from the embroidery to the embedded gems and all custom made for her, it makes her look like a shiny ray of sunrise (and hope and comfort with Artemis). Her reaction to eating pancakes with syrup and milk is adorable as well. With her cluelessness at times and earnest nature, I could see Ryza being the 'MUST PROTECC' character in a fire emblem game. Until late game hits and she becomes a meme because the developers made her easy to customize, the fans ran with it, and made her a magic nuke.

I'm torn between Yellow, Red and White magic. Yellow for focusing on our main spec, Red for dragon issues, and White because healing is always good. Since I think it would be best to learn pretty much everything there, it is more a question of learning what will be the most urgent.

Since I'm pretty sure we will get backstabbed soon, using our dragon self to flee into Artemis's territory sounds like our trump card. So, in order to make the inevitable use of our trump card less risky, I would say go Red. Despite my natural bend to go heal first and pretty much everything else second.

And exploring the castle to learn about the world.

White magic is just the highest utility option right now, tbh. We can probably get away with dabbling in Fire magic for the emotional control practice later, and we don't really need another combat spell that Red, Green, and Black would provide right now. Continuing Yellow is appealing to access more of that upgrade tree so to speak, but against non-mages, the vast majority of opponents, a resistance buff is kinda useless. Of course, against mages, it's also really good, particularly for a physical-focused group, but... long story short, it's situational. Healing magic, on the other hand, can be the difference between an ally living or dying from combat wounds. We'll be getting into combat a lot, and we're currently expecting betrayal, so... being able to perform magical first aid will be useful the entire quest, even if we eventually recruit a proper healer, since we can help with triage, handling the lower-priority heals while the healer handles the higher-priority ones, or keeping high-priority wounded stable until the healer can get to them.

White magic isn't even a bad option long-term, tbh, since there are games in which Nosferatu, for example, is a Light tome instead of a Dark tome.

The general feel of the castle is that a betrayal will happen, and thus emotions are likely to run high. Hopefully the start of Red magic might help us avoid making a bad situation worse with a panicked dragon transformation. As for exploring the castle, it would be important to know the castle layout in case we have to bug out/fight a battle. We can meet up with our friends or Artemis later and hopefully closer to the betrayal event so we can be together when it happens.

I know it's not guaranteed, but I kind of want to beeline to some oracle powers.

Hmmmm.... I'm getting this idea that people might think Ryza is a student of the Marble Hall if they saw her perform magic.

It'd be remiss of me to ignore that if the votes weren't combined, exploring the castle would have won over finding Artemis. I think.

Are the votes combined or are they just combined because of how the vote tallies work? I've never really looked before now. Though I'm fine with either option that won in this case.

As several people have pointed out, since I had intended for the two votes to be separate, the proper winners are White Magic and Exploring the castle.

(rubs hands together gleefully.)
