  • [X] Try to join in the discussion between Missionary Jogby and the scribes as they work to puzzle out what the vision meant. While you're not sure they're on the right track, it'll probably make a good impression to show interest, though they'll almost certainly ask you a lot more probing more questions. Hopefully, being helpful will fully smooth over any hard feelings they might hold about you going near the lake.
[X] Study the cloak, try to figure out what it is and why you were given it. It must be important for some reason.
-[X] Keep any discoveries to yourself. This is your cloak, not theirs, and so you get to decide what they know about it.
[X] You try to remember more of the vision, no matter how much your heart aches every time you think about it.
-[X] Keep any discoveries to yourself. Whatever they might think, you're certain this message was meant for you.

-[X] Tell Missionary Jogby anything you figure out so long as it's not too private. That'll surely make him happy.

So right now talking things out with Jogby and the scribes has a pretty big lead, but there have been bigger swings.

Seems like a good choice, gives a good impression and might help get them on the right path. Might be a bit dangerous given our "Mother = Sol Invictus" idea, but seems pretty easily worth it.

Alright, so a pretty clear win for communication.

Could I get a d4 from someone please?

If this quest were an actual FE game, do you think it would split into a Ryza route and an Artemis route?

The word chapter just got me thinking about FE chapters and how maps would play out differently.

That's a good question. I always envisioned Artemis as the main lord, which I tried to depict in the side chapter where she went off to the North while Ryza was over at the Marble Hall. I'm not sure if Ryza would have a full-on route, but I imagine she'd have side chapters while the main story focused on Artemis, with her joining as a bonus unit in those chapters where she and Artemis are together.

EDIT: Almost makes me want to write a side-chapter where Artemis is doing her half of the night battle against the Empire camp, which I imagine would not include Ryza as a controlled character but just having her occasionally spawn around the map, delete some Imperials/destroy some stuff, then fly off. For the players, it would serve as a little bit of a "holy s#!t" chapter of just how crazy powerful this dragon is, with a bit of wondering about just how insane a full-grown dragon would be.

Or, just make players mildly annoyed the way they sometimes get with Pent in FE7. "Stop killing everything, Ryza! I need to level up Elena some more!"

I always kinda figured that it was more of an Ephraim-Eirika split. Though perhaps with a more Radiant Dawn coat of paint given that most if not all characters would be route-exclusive until the armies merge again.

Though I suppose if Ryza didn't have too many chapters, then they would be better off getting relegated to gaiden maps that the player would run through after completing certain main story chapters. Then if Ryza happens to experience an important story event that doesn't escalate into a battle while Artemis is off fighting, we'd get an interlude cutscene instead.

For maps where Dragon-Ryza primarily takes the stage, she would probably get shifted into a green unit (albeit one that still earns EXP probably) that follows a preprogrammed set path throughout the map to accomplish whatever objectives set for her by the preceding story cutscenes. This would also mean that the player is given enough time to potentially solve problems intended for Ryza before she arrives, though this would largely be for EXP distribution purposes since she will automatically send the droppable items of all the enemies she kills to the convoy.

Alternatively, they could use that mechanic that was in... Radiant Dawn, I think, where alongside green units you also had yellow units that were flagged as "allied" rather than "neutral" but you only had very limited control over - the Lord had a special command (didn't cost their action IIRC but it was something only they could do) "Direct" where you could pick from a small menu of broad commands like (Act Freely, Go to this square, don't attack, avoid enemies, etc.) and they'd (try) to do so.

Or they could use the other mechanic that was in Radiant Dawn, where Ryza shows up briefly in part 1 and then doesn't show up again until part 4. (Looking at you Tormod and Vika!)
