Huh, that's a bit more sinister than I'd thought. But if Moon's fighting alongside Uly anyway, then... why not? Sounds cool to me.
That lie won't hold up under the scrutiny Moon'll give it, though. Not with Flame shouting about Anathema and the weirdness with inconsistent stories about what happened to Ulyssian.[X] Tell her you are a fire aspect that just Exalted and don't give the Sword
Powerful assassins are going to target Uly as soon as the news Zao has an heir comes out, he's going to need Ambition to defend himself.
And keeping Moon close to him is going to put her in danger, Zao is right about that. But I'd rather he told her a half truth (like he just Exalted) than a complete lie (he lied to her since the beginning).
Isn't that going against your previous statement that Odyssial and Ulyssian are essentially the same person? Or is it going to assume it knows your will better then you do?
Rihaku's gonna Rihaku, which means playing devil's advocate. He cannot be other than he is. He took IPP and supernal linguistics.By the way Rihaku proved his claim of permanent evilness yet again.
The powers of Ambition reflect Odyssial perfectly. *The wielder of Ambition is driven always to great purpose. In a mortal's hands or a god-kings', the blade grants an unceasing perpetuity of will, such that the wielder will always be pressed towards self-improvement, and towards the same ultimate goals as Odyssial. They could even take up this blade with a desire to harm him, but through them, it would find a way to advance his greater agenda.
Fair enough. I think the key element in this is that we would be bequeathing it to her along with full knowledge of what it is and what it does. If we were handing it off to a relative stranger, that would be underhanded (also inadvisable), but Moon has always admired our Ambition. Now she can have it. Literally.
But can she accept it knowingly? She has only seen our Ambition in Ulyssian as we bent it towards training and self-improvement. She didn't see Odyssial's unrestrained drive, nor the lengths he went to to ensure his success. Without knowing both sides of the coin, she can't really choose, just guess. So long as she accepts it knowingly, I am absolutely fine with it.
Fine - if the wielder is working towards Uly's goals, what is the effect of Ambition beyond "you will see this done". Does it force the most efficient action based on its own criteria? Or is the wielder just compelled via their unbreakable willpower to get the job done, but however they want as long as they are never opposing his goals? In what way does it go against my previous statement? Odyssial is Ulyssian.
I don't think this is the case. Actually, one of the blade's Evocations in Odyssial's hands was the Eightfold Immortal Bulwark, which he used during the Primordial War.Reflects Odysissial perfectly. By the time this blade was completed Uly was likely G10 H10 which means it would reflect him as he was then.

User will always be pressed to the same Ultimate goals as Odyissial.
You can't even even use the damn thing against Odyissial without it finding a way to still further his agenda.
I'm sure that the thing isn't much of a danger if used for only short periods of time. However Moon would be using it for an extended period of time.
There is a reason Rihaku called Moon with Ambition would be known as the Winter Empress if she took over the Realm. The winter is cold and unforgiving. Sounds like a high heartlessness rating to me.
We can tell her, and I trust that she has the intellect and imagination to make the decision. Moon is her own woman and nobody's fool. Quite the opposite, actually. But can she accept it knowingly? Um, no. The Scarlet Empress got her name from her hair, not because of rivers of blood or anything. There is a reason Rihaku called Moon with Ambition would be known as the Winter Empress if she took over the Realm. The winter is cold and unforgiving. Sounds like a high heartlessness rating to me.
Yeah, the sword reflects Ody in all his terrible glory. Doesn't mean other users will in turn reflect the sword, just that in using it they are working towards his goals - always.Reflects Odysissial perfectly. When you have an unshakable will and grand goals, the little things tend to fall to the wayside.Fine - if the wielder is working towards Uly's goals, what is the effect of Ambition beyond "you will see this done". I don't think this is something you can imagine. It's a matter of experience. We can tell her, and I trust that she has the intellect and imagination to make the decision. Moon is her own woman and nobody's fool. Quite the opposite, actually.
I would swear fealty to the Winter Empress.It... sounded cool? She can't be the Azure empress, she has no blue features. Her hair is white, her skin is so white it's near translucent, and her eyes are grey.
Which would be why I want to give it someone who hasn't yet lost sight of the smaller picture. When you have an unshakable will and grand goals, the little things tend to fall to the wayside.
Possibly not, although I think I simply have a higher opinion of Moon's abilities than you do. If anyone could do it, though, it would be the woman who immersed herself in stories from a very young age and possesses the intellect to translate that imagination into expectations.I don't think this is something you can imagine. It's a matter of experience.
Ody is already used to being stood upon, so we're halfway there.

That's why I considered giving her the sword the last resort at the bargaining table, and included the clause to ask her if she's really willing to jump through all these hoops and wait what might be 4 years, all on a hope and a dream. BEFORE giving her the sword that cleaves her to our will.Rihaku said:There is one final angle to consider. Do you want Moon to have her every action bent, knowingly or not, to Odyssial's advantage?
As long as Moon doesn't turn on us, she's good, and I doubt we were ever seriously at risk of her betrayal in any situation where we tell her the truth.Whoa. It is that safe? In that case, give it to Zao and let him take over the Realm while we train.
