[Exalted, ?] Most High

I was hoping we'd get to the sword vote today, 'cause there's a few more things you guys have to decide, but it looks like a bunch of people haven't voted yet. Ugh, I do dislike posting updates later in the day for this reason.

Also, I think you guys are probably too paranoid about Night Time. There's not that much to be scared of, so you should really only prioritize it if you like Ivory as a character more than the other elements.

"Great, Uly, thanks for being so understanding. Let's keep this our little secret~"

Of course, there is the problem that Hero is a devout Immaculate, Moon is near-death, his anima seems to burn Nilul, and he just Exalted in a stadium full of Dragon-Blooded, but these are all solvable problems. Honestly, Hero is probably the most intractable one, as he's unlikely to renounce the Immaculate perspective even if Zao tells him it's literally bullshit.

I mean there's nothing to stop them from buddying up, and, honestly, it would be freaking hilarious if they did.

Edit - and per WOG above me I'm back to

One's an agent of the cast down rulers of creation.

The other is the reincarnation of their foremost jailer.

Together, they fight crime play the Dynastic game.
Well, it is the Dynastic game, so some crime-fighting is par for the course! Doubly so since Ulyssian is Batman the Accursed.

Honestly, I just have no strong feelings one way or the other, and I'm about to go to bed.

I mean, I already knew it -- I'd read the previous two quests, even if I don't fully remember them all. What I didn't remember were the details; like the fact that by this point in time, Ulyssian had already learned of Nilul's status before the current game syncs up.

I'm now curious as to how Nilul will take it -- the fact that Ulyssian Exalted. Or did she buy the totally-not-Anathema-guys-really story?

I wonder if she's screaming internally at the fact that here she is doing her best to hide, while this dense idiot Exalts in front of everybody in the stadium and gets away with it. Life just isn't fair!

Sudden plot-twist: none of Zao's students are actually Dragonblooded! Together, they fight crime. And go on to become the most famous Sworn Brotherhood in the history of the Realm, held up as paragons of their respective Aspect. :V

Flame: "Is there anybody in this place who's actually a Terrestrial?!"

Relentless Flame would go down in history as the Realm's greatest detective -- the Grand High Inquisitor of the Wyld Hunt -- uncovering and defeating dozens of Anathema plots and supporters, only ever erring once in his pursuit of justice as he insists to his dying day that Sesus Ulyssian (HERO OF THE REALM!) is actually a giant chicken.

I think poeple are voting primarily for the purple option out of fear that if we do not pick it we may lose the loyalty of Ivory.

Eh, I'm more in it because I like Ivory, and because importantly...we need help to deal with Anys. Our neglectful family doesn't really help there, or at least not nearly as much.

I don't see any need for the sword, though. It's kind of a red flag (or at least complication) if we actually use it, and we're not about to go into any life or death struggle since we chose Disguise.

Better red than dead.

Also, my interest was piqued by what Rihaku said about how Ulyssian's parents are different.

Well, I also want to talk to Ivory. :V

Although... feels kind of a bit sad to just ignore his parents like this. They... are not going to be happy about this. Meh oh well; for all they know, Ulyssian Exalted in the process of taking his entrance exams and thus really did spend most of his life as an unappreciated mortal. :V

That's actually a pretty good question, because with her evidence, uh, anathema seems legit! Unless she got the prep and care package, which who the hell knows with her patron.

Edit- oh whoops totally misread that. I'm sure she probably saw right through it, social monster, that one.

And for the second..

I doubt she bought the charade; she is a master manipulator, after all. Speaking of which, for added mindfuckery, check out the wording she uses when talking to Ulyssian about her status as Anathema, specifically 'our little secret'.

Our Little Secret
Cost: 4m
Mins: Essence 2
Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-OK, Compulsion, Emotion, Sorcerous, Stackable, Touch
Duration: Indefinite
Prerequisite Charms: Witness to Darkness

The surest way for Creation to fall into the state of wicked depravity that is most pleasing to the Ebon Dragon is for good men to do nothing, and the Shadow of All Things is more than ready to promote such inaction. To use this Charm, the warlock must touch a witness to an act of depravity, or to evidence of such an act. Henceforth, the target's mind is filled with paralyzing shame and horror when she considers relating what she has seen to any other character, either through speech or writing, forcing her to ultimately remain silent. This unnatural mental influence costs 3 Willpower to resist. The warlock must be aware that the witness has beheld a specific depravity, and may not blindly 'guess' when activating Our Little Secret. Multiple activations of this Charm may be placed on the same witness, to force silence on the subject of multiple valid acts.

An act of depravity is defined as any act which would cause shock, outrage, or scandal according to the common mores of Creation's dominant culture (currently the Realm) or the dominant culture in which the act occurs. Murder, adultery, rape, incest, theft, violent assault and disrespect toward the Terrestrial Exalted on the part of mortals are all examples of acts of depravity within the Realm, and are thus applicable wherever the Charm is used. More specific acts of depravity might include rudeness to an Essence 6+ divinity (if the Charm were used in Yu-Shan), enslavement of citizens of Nexus (if used in Nexus), or disobeying a superior officer (if used in Lookshy).

At Essence 3+, the Infernal may touch a piece of evidence related to an act of depravity rather than a witness, for a cost of 8m rather than 4m. This causes all individuals who subsequently witness the evidence so marked to be forced into silence as though they had been targeted with the 4m activation of Our Little Secret, as a Sorcerous effect. With Essence 4+, the Charm's Compulsion is enhanced to also include a prohibition against moving or disturbing evidence of an act of depravity. For example, a character who found a mutilated body deep in the woods would not only be powerless to speak of his discovery, but also could not bring himself to give the corpse a proper burial or even to drag it back to town to be anonymously discovered and properly disposed of by others.

From what Rihaku has said, that seems incorrect. We need to follow up on her or we can lose Ivory.
That sounds more like without our input, Ivory might decide she's our waifu, or that she's the big sis in the relationship, or we have to sit on her shoulder when we practice Fist of Unity, or who knows what.

In other words, it's a wildcard.

We can apologize to our house later. Being the successor of the oldest Dragon in the world is a pretty major thing, so we should be able to have them understand.

Yeah I got that bit too. :V

Or maybe she'll only remember the mountains of paperwork Ulyssian caused her. ;)

We spent more Heartless Might getting that damn sword than we did... anything else. We spent fewer actions on Lea! And we picked every option that included Lea.

Also, I SUPPORT SHOGUN MOON!
Shogun Moon is true justice.
Or maybe she'll only remember the mountains of paperwork Ulyssian caused her. ;)
I think that ship sailed when we took the Sword of Endings as Odyssial. This gives us a chance to capitalize on and possibly redefine the context of our relationship; Ivory isn't going to fly the coop and go back to Anys just because we take this chance to pull a sword out of our soul (seriously, we were hiding a sword in our soul, how cool is that?) or talk to the Sesus leadership.

I wonder if whatshisname the Gold Faction Sidereal survived the Usurpation. Rihaku said it was a 50-50 chance IIRC. Maybe we'll find out eventually... actually, we might find out if we ask Ivory about it!
This...depravity will not stand, should it come to pass.
Of course not, one of them will be sitting instead.

That's more or less correct. You'll be close! But in what form that closeness takes, that is what you may be able to determine...
